    Nevermind

Ranked 17/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Released in September 1991, Nirvana's sophomore album and major label debut elevated Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl from a critically acclaimed Aberdeen, Washington, cult band to generational spokesmen who'd unwittingly created a cultural shift and musical touchstone. Rising to No. 1 the world over by year's end and ultimately selling over 30 million copies worldwide, Nevermind would come to be much more than one of the most successful and influential albums of its or any era. As the album that returned unaffected rock 'n' roll integrity and passion to the top of the charts, Nevermind would prove a singular inspiration to fans and musicians alike over the last two decades--and will undoubtedly do so for generations to come.

    Live At Reading

Ranked #1 in Kerrang magazine's 100 Gigs That Shook The World and voted as Nirvana's #1 Greatest Moment by fans in an NME poll, Nirvana's historic August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the UK's Reading Festival is one of the most bootlegged concerts in the annals of rock 'n' roll. Now, fans finally can own a pristine copy of that entire performance complete with remastered audio.

While the show's centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn't be released until a year later on In Utero: All Apologies,Dumb, and, in its first ever public performance, Tourette's. The career-spanning set list also reached back to the band's 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for Blew,About A Girl, School, Negative Creep, and the band's first single Love Buzz, and even further back for Spank Thru.

Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: Aneurysm, Been A Son and Sliver. Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound: The Money Will Roll Right In by Fang and by The Wipers.

Ranked 439/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

A reactionary statement to the phenomenal commercial success of Nevermind, In Utero remains Nirvanas most noisy, caustic, uncompromised, and aggressive album. Its also the bands best, a brilliant combination of contagious hooks, feedback-drenched squalls, bruised beauty, and biting lyrical wit intended to blindside causal listeners with raw emotion, difficult listening, and painful honesty. Rife with medical imagery and references to disease, sickness, decay, and dismay, In Utero is the distraught sound of personal catharsis and unyielding trauma. More revealingly, the record doubles as a haunting foreshadowing of singer Kurt Cobains suicide that took place just months after its release.

Unhappy with the high-gloss production and pop-based arrangements on Nevermind, Nirvana set out to make a harsher album that would literally alienate millions. While the trio succeeded in its goal of getting intimate with blistering dissonance and acerbic tones, In Utero resonated with the public, debuting at #1 on the Billboard charts and ultimately selling more than four million copies. Echoing John Lennon, Cobains piercing songwriting spoke to the disaffected masses that shared his anguish and set new standards for ironic depth that still stand. For every unsettling screed (Serve the Servants, Milk It, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, Tourettes) there are introspective moments of folk-inspired elegance (All Apologies, Pennyroyal Tea, Dumb) that hint at the direction in which Nirvana was headed.

In Utero is equally legendary for the controversies involving its production. Originally helmed by Steve Albini, an engineer known for capturing live ambience and natural tones, the album was eventually remixed by Scott Litt after the group complained about the vocal sound. While the exact specifics of what party demanded the redo remain blurry, the finished results are staggering, with the added harmonies, better bass definition, and vocal volume boosts achieving an ideal balance that satisfied the bands wishes. Now, you can hear it like never before.

Originally recorded over three sessions with producer Jack Endino at Seattle's Reciprocal Recording Studios in December 1988 and January 1989, Bleach was released in June of 1989 and remains unequivocally and unsurprisingly Sub Pop's very favorite Nirvana full-length. Subsequently, Bleach has gone on to sell 1.7 million copies in the US alone.

    Siamese Dream

Ranked 360/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Originally released in 1993, Siamese Dream is the breakthrough second album from the Smashing Pumpkins and of the the finest to ever come out of the alt-rock movement. Co-produced with Butch Vig and instrumentally recorded almost entirely by bandleader Billy Corgan himself, the guitar-heavy affair generated no less than four hit singles in Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm and Rocket. Built on rich, layered sonics and inherent dynamic tension, Siamese Dream stands alongside Nirvana's Nevermind and Soundgarden's Superunknown as the defining albums of the decade and alt-rock's Mount Rushmore.

    Youth And Young Manhood

Now Available on Remastered 180 Gram Gatefold Double LP

Youth & Young Manhood is the debut album from American rock band Kings of Leon, released in August 2003. The title was taken from a drawing of the family tree of Moses, found on the inside of one of their Pentecostal preaching father's Bibles. Each branch contained a line that the band was quoted as saying could easily have passed for an album title. Youth and Young Manhood, however, seemed fitting and was quickly agreed upon by all members.

The album was recorded between Sound City Studios, California (where Nirvana's Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours were made) and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu. Molly's Chambers, Wasted Time and California Waiting were all released as singles. Spiral Staircase featured on the PS3 game Motorstorm. Red Morning Light was also featured on a Ford Focus commercial, and as the opening song in FIFA 2004 by EA Sports. Holy Roller Novocaine was featured in the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby as well as on the soundtrack.

The album peaked at number 3 in the United Kingdom, but fared worse in the band's homeland, peaking outside the top hundred. The band's popularity exploded in Australia during the weeks of the 22nd and 29 September 2008, when all four of the band's studio albums reached the top 50.Youth and Young Manhood making its first top 50 chart appearance since its release in 2003, peaking at number 46. The album sold more than 940,000 copies worldwide, and was ranked at #80 in Rolling Stone's Top 100 Albums of the Decade.

Continuing our legacy of reminding people Nirvana had a record before Nevermind, Sub Pop Records presents a non-deluxe, affordably-priced, single-LP version of Bleach, Nirvana's debut album. Originally released by us in June of 1989, Bleach was widely recognized as a record music retailers should probably order after that one with the naked baby on the cover did so well in 1991. Now we proudly suggest you order this single-LP version of Bleach containing the full remastered album as found on the Bleach Deluxe Edition 2LP, and a pretty printed inner sleeve. We promise it will sell.

This is where the garage punk-pop revival began. Before Nirvana and Nevermind, there was Green Day and the 1991 indie-released 39/Smooth. MTV, multiplatinum albums and massive critical acclaim were still in the distance at this point. 39/Smooth was a three chord explosion of unfettered, even goofy, energy and passion. Previously out of print, this elusive album, now reissued for the first time on a major label, marks the genesis of modern rock. The earliest offering from what has become one of the biggest acts in the world today.

    Wasting Light

Foo Fighters anxiously anticipated seventh album, Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohls home in Californias San Fernando Valley. The new record marks the Foo Fighters first full length effort with legendary producer Butch Vig, who previously produced new tracks Wheels and Word Forward on 2009s Greatest Hits and with whom Dave Grohl (of course) first worked on Nirvanas classic Nevermind.

Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic also makes a cameo, contributing bass and accordion to I Should Have Known, while former Nirvana touring guitarist and longtime extended FF family member Pat Smear now joins the permanent FF core of Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.

The album received its first public airing at a surprise gig Friday, January 28th at the minuscule Velvet Jones club in Santa Barbara, where the band ripped through the entire record from start to finish, and followed up with a crushing live collection of greatest hits and rarely played deep cuts including Wattershed from the bands self-titled 1995 debut.

Latin GRAMMY nominees Kinky's new album 'SueƱo de la Maquina' was produced and mixed by legendary Dust Brother, John King, who has produced Beck, Rolling Stones and Beastie Boys. The album was mastered by Howie Weinberg, whose credits include iconic albums like Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Nirvana's Nevermind and U2's Pop.

More than 10 years ago, Kinky submitted a demo to the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), where they ended up winning the conference's prestigious LAMC Discovery Contest. At LAMC, Kinky first connected with British producer Chris Allison (The Beta Band, Coldplay) and recorded their self-titled debut album, which was received with rave reviews from both international and domestic press. The album featured massive hit songs such as "Mas" and "Soun Tha Mi Primer Amor".

Kinky's music has been featured in numerous soundtracks, TV commercials (Motorola, Smirnoff Ice, Nissan, Honda), and video games like EA Sports
'FIFA and Tiger Woods' PGA Tour. The band's popularity is palpable in each of its concerts. Their popular live shows have allowed the band to tour around the world, performing at Coachella, New Orleans' Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, Bumbershoot, Outside Lands and many more.

    Jar

Daylight spent the past few years honing their grunge buzzing, and desperate sad sound across four EP's, showcasing and perfecting a talent for writing both jarringly heavy and delicately emotional songs. With high-anticipation, the Pennsylvania four-piece deliver JAR, their debut full-length. Engineer & producer Will Yip's massive production knocks you on your ass from the very first drum hit and snarling guitar riff. The stadium-sound drums, plus pulsing bass and walls of buzzsaw guitars are all mixed with the size and clarity of major label grunge breakthrough records like Nirvana's Nevermind and Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream. Daylight have delivered a towering rock record and an early contender for album of the year.

After a string of EPs throughout the past six years, Daylight's debut LP makes good on all the hype that's surrounded the band of late, with 12 tracks produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Man Overboard) that push the recording's boundaries past any sense of genre one might apply. In terms of aesthetic (rather than specific tone), it reminds of the grungy, '90s-inspired post-hardcore of Pennsylvania brethren Title Fight's 2012 stunner Floral Green, or Colourmeinkindness by labelmates Basement; similar to those albums, Jar fuses a wide range of influences from Nirvana and Foo Fighters to Cave In and Seaweed into a seamless, spatial organic mush, for a thrillingly unpredictable and compelling listen.4/5 - Altpress.com

Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!

In that mythical era known as the 90's, five brave young men emerged from the legendary halls of some of the mightiest bands on Fat Wreck Chords with a single mission: make all the rest of these dildo punk bands covering popular songs obsolete. They crowned themselves Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and the world rejoiced. Now, seven records, scores of singles and nearly a thousand years later, having tackled every genre under the sun, the bold young knaves known colloquially as the Gimmes have ridden their success hard, and decayed into desiccated, old divas. Yet, the diva, she is immortal. And thus, imbued with the old-world, Mystic Pizza-esque swagger of Cher, the modern pop-art sensibility of Lady Gaga and the enthusiasm-for-drug-consumption of Whitney Houston, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes have returned from their beauty rest, busting out of their sequined gowns, and throwing vases at their assistants in order to present you with their latest opus, entitled Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!, slated to be released on none other than Fat Wreck Chords. And you'd best believe, whether because of their tantrums or their virtuosity, once you hear these fat ladies sing, there's not gonna be a dry eye in the house.

For the uninitiated, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes consist of Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape on the guitar, Shiflett brother (and Foo Fighter) Chris Shiflett on the other guitar, Lagwagon drummer and Fat Wreck utility superhero Dave Raun on the skins, and are rounded out by Fat Wreck-head-honcho/NOFX main-dude Fat Mike, and incomparable crooner Spike Slawson. Together, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes-an outfit that has always operated more like a beer-hall Pussycat Dolls than a regular mortal band-contain so much hot air, so much pomp, so much attitude, that it's a wonder that these guys can still manage to pull their five individual tour buses into the same parking lot, put their differences aside and belt out the ballads without clawing each other's eyes out. But they do, for the love of the fans, the music, and of course, the applause.

In the past, The Gimmes have tackled such disparate genres as Motown, country, show tunes and even Japanese pop (sung in real live Japanese!) but none of that enabled them to truly soar as high above the eagles as they desired, feeling the wind of other, lesser bands beneath their wings. So this time, the Fat (Wreck) Five decided to take on the un-take-on-able and hit us with cuts from the likes of Celine (gasp!) Christina (Sigh!) and Paula Abdul (oh no you di'int!) among others. And as Spike's baritone somehow manages to make Whitney Houston's (Dolly Parton-penned) Theme Song To The Bodyguard EVEN MORE EPIC, you will be moved to tears. You will find joy. You will shake in your very skin as the music of these divas gently takes you by the hand and shows you how to love again. AND! You'll buy tickets to see 'em on tour.

Because that's right folks! Nothing says 'diva' like coming to your town to bask in the torrential, gushing blasts of your love, and the Gimmes will be hitting the entire world in support of Are We Not Men? We Are Diva!, except maybe Mike, who's such a diva that he's got substitutes on hand! So grab those flowers off of your grandma's grave and head out now, to check out Me First and the Gimme Gimmes on wax and in your town, before these five outrageous harpies either kill each other or wind up as a Vegas destination act, bloated, high on pills and uh, nevermind that last part. Just go see em, eh? It's a helluva time.

Produced by George Clinton, 1985's Freaky Styley serves as hands down the funkiest outing from the Chili Peppers to date and it also marked the welcome return of original guitarist Hillel Slovak and drummer Jack Irons. A huge step forward from the band's eponymous debut, more than a few Peppers classics reside here, including Jungle Man, Hollywood (a reworking of the Meters' Africa), Nevermind, Catholic School Girls Rule and The Brothers Cup.

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

Musically, there are bits of The Stone Roses, What's The Story Morning Glory, and Nevermind. As catchy as those reference points are, it's the songwriting that has won the band a fiercely dedicated following; a mix of the observational storytelling of Davies and Weller crossed with the harsher documentary eye of Mike Skinner of The Streets and Ghost Town era Specials. Two #1 UK singles. Press already lined up with Rolling Stone, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, and Interview, to name a few. Three more US/Canadian tours planned for this year, including headlining Domino's label showcase at SXSW.

    Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge

1991 will forever be remembered as the year that alternative rock broke through to the masses. It seemed like every other week there was another great new alt-rock album to discover, such as Nirvana's Nevermind, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, Primus's Sailing The Seas of Cheese, and the Smashing Pumpkins' Gish, so Mudhoney couldn't have picked a better time to issue their sophomore release. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was issued right in the middle of the whole grunge movement, and while it didn't sell in the vast quantities of some other Seattle bands' albums, it did stir up quite a buzz for Mudhoney. Some of the band's finest moments are included here, such as Generation Genocide, Let it Slide, Into the Drink, Who You Drivin' Now? and Fuzzgun '91.

    Bandwagonesque

Bandwagonesque, the Scottish Teenage Fanclub's sophomore album, was released on two of the most prolific indie labels of the early nineties; Creation in the UK & Geffen in the Unites States.
And as disparate as those two labels might seem, Teenage Fanclub managed to unite the guitar sludge with the infectious melodies of both the budding Grunge and Britpop movements.

It's no surprise that the forerunners of both genres - Kurt Cobain and Noel Gallagher - named Teenage Fanclub the best band in the world. (Alright; Noel Gallagher said they were the second best band in the world).

But despite its massive critical success - Bandwagonesque topped Spin Magazine's end of year list, beating Nevermind, Out Of Time and Loveless - the mainstream didn't follow until a few years later.

Bandwagonesque is filled with incandescent harmonies, lazy yet immediate songs and a laissez faire irony; its classic guitar pop makes it one of the 1001 albums you have to have heard before you die

    New Wave (Colored Vinyl)

Limited to 1,000 Yellow and Black Split Colored Vinyl

Reissue of the 2007 major label debut of one of the most controversial modern day rock acts. Features the singles ''Stop'' and ''Thrash Unreal''.

For Against Me! frontman Tom Gabel (now Laura Jane Grace), sometimes you have to get the hell out just to find your way back in. Since 1997 we have seen Gabel rise from acoustic folk-punk gunslinger in the dives of Gainesville, Florida to releasing Against Me!'s searing, blood-smeared slices of scrappy punk. The 2007 release, New Wave, was their major label debut, one that Spin magazine anointed as their Album Of The Year. And while Gainesville was home, Gabel felt the walls closing in when touring for New Wave came to an end. So he split. With his then-wife, he left behind the ''didja-hear-about-so-and-so'' insular Gainesville world for the sleepy beach town of St. Augustine, wandering the streets and driving dusty back roads: searching, pining, hoping for inspiration.

Produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana's Nevermind, The Smashing Pumpkins' Gish and Siamese Dream, Garbage).

The Pixies Trompe Le Monde On Numbered Limited Edition 180g LP From Mobile Fidelity

Pixies Swan Song Sparks With Electrically Charged Hooks, Outer-Space Atmospherics, And Eminent Tunefulness

Mastered From The Original Master Tapes: Restoration Turns 1991 Album Into A Sonic Blockbuster

Frank Black-led Set Includes Contagious Cover Of The Jesus And Mary Chain's "Head On"

The Pixies verged on commercial breakthrough when the now-iconic band released Trompe le Monde in September 1991. A sea change in popular music tastes that the band helped initiate began to sweep the world. And the Boston quartet seemed prepared to lead the way, with this, its eminently tuneful fourth record, jam-packed with crafty hooks, prickly tones, catchy elements, outer-space atmospherics, electrically charged energy, and delightfully quirky lyrics.

As it stands, Trompe le Monde takes its place as one of the finest swan songs ever recorded. If the Pixies wouldn't have broken up right after its release, there's no telling what would've happened. All that you need to know is that the 15-track effort is as hard rocking and brilliantly innovative as any of the group's creations. That's no small feat.

Mastered from the original analog tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's numbered limited edition 180g LP presents the ensemble's abrasively melodic landmark in a fidelity it's never enjoyed in any prior version. Featuring lusher keyboards and moodier soundscapes than its predecessors, but also reclaiming the nasty guitar edginess and swooning distortion of the group's earliest efforts, Trompe de la Monde finally comes across as the Pixies intended: A sonic bridge between college-rock's influential cruder-textured albums and the polished professionalism that distinguished alt-rock classics.

In other words, Mobile Fidelity's version presents it as the perfect-sounding album: Replete with grit, rawness, and character, but mixed in with radio-friendly smoothness and virtuosic professionalism. Awash with incredible timbres and tonalities, myriad new details rise to the surface. Listen to the counterpoint melodies and layered vocals on "Letter to Memphis"; the trash-compactor feedback and thumping bass during the whipsawing "Planet of Sound"; the "Spyhunter"-like pace and limitless depth now present on "Subbacultcha." Dynamics, contrasts, low-end frequencies, and imaging are all significantly enhanced. Compared to the original CD, Trompe le Monde emerges as a new album-a sonic wonderland that's not far removed from that of Nirvana's celebrated blockbuster Nevermind.

Musically, the Pixies were never better. On par with the groundbreaking Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, Trompe le Monde explodes with hyper riffs, jerks to stop-start progressions, elates with cheerful emotions, and bangs on to giddy surf-fused arrangements. With Kim Deal absent from the songwriting process, vocalist/guitarist Frank Black takes the reigns and doesn't disappoint. Tales about sea monkeys ("Palace of the Brine"), aliens ("Planet of Sound"), and love ("The Sad Punk") bop alongside memorable jabs at hipster pretensions ("Subbacultcha") and inflated egos ("U-Mass"). A contagious cover of the Jesus and Mary Chain's "Head On" will have you hitting "repeat." Power pop, wanderlust punk, theatrical glam rock, reconfigured reverb-laden country-all here, all encouraging repeat listens.

Nearly lost due amidst the alternative trend that it played such a key role in spawning, Trompe le Monde gets new life courtesy of this extremely punchy, greatly balanced Mobile Fidelity issue. If you missed it the first time, don't make that mistake again. Essential with a capital "E," and the perfect way to close Mobile Fidelity's Pixies catalog restoration series.
