    Rampant

Nazareth's second 74 album Rampant finds the group tempering the four-on-the-floor hard rock attack they developed on Loud and Proud by working a surprising and effective Southern rock edge into the songs. The end result is an album that sounds like a early AC/DC meets Lynyrd Skynyrd at their hardest rocking. Some of the country-tinged highlights include Glad When You're Gone a funny kiss-off to an unwanted lover that airs hillbilly-styled singing with wah-wah-drenched guitar riffs, and Jet Lag a tongue-in-cheek look at life as a touring rock & roller that is driven by some. However, the finest song in this vein is the powerful opener Silver Dollar Forger, which feels like the theme song to the great 1970s car chase movie that never was.

This gatefold sleeved edition of the album contains the B-side to the Love Hurts 7 single as a bonus. Rock on!

    Hair Of The Dog

Hair of the Dog is the sixth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1975. The album was recorded at Escape Studios, Kent, United Kingdom with additional recording and mixing at AIR Studios, London, and is the band's biggest selling album, having sold two million copies worldwide.

After three albums with Deep Purple's Roger Glover producing, Manny Charlton stepped into that position, one he filled for several subsequent albums.
It was Nazareth's first big hit album (aside from the minor success of Razamanaz), including classics such as the title track, Love Hurts (on the US version, but not the Canadian/European, it replaced the original Guilty), Beggars Day and Please Don't Judas Me.

The album title is often considered to be a shortened form of the phrase describing a folk hangover cure, the hair of the dog that bit you. However, according to Dan McCafferty, the title is a play on heir of the dog, i.e. a son of a bitch. This was the title the band had intended for the album, but the label did not approve and had the name changed, although nearly a thousand album covers were printed. The original Heir of the Dog album covers are very rare and worth a small fortune to collectors. The title track is sometimes mistakenly called Son Of A Bitch because of its hook (now you're messin' with a son of a bitch).

Classic Album From Scottish Hard Rockers Nazareth Re-Issued On Vinyl!!!

This 1978 album found Nazareth continuing to mine the combination of stripped-down hard rock and roots rock sounds explored on 1977's Expect No Mercy. No Mean City is also notable because the veteran Scottish rock outfit expanded its lineup for the first time with addition of guitarist Zal Cleminson, formerly of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. He helped the band create a gutsy twin-guitar attack that stamps its authority all over the album: prime example of the group's new firepower include Just to Get Into It, a blinding speed rocker that provides the album with a fitting opener, and Simple Solution, a hard-driving slab of boogie rock that sets cynical lyrics against the backdrop of a gritty, hypnotic guitar riff. Another major highlight is May the Sunshine, which starts as a Celtic-inflected acoustic tune, but soon adds electric guitars and rumbling bassline to become a stomping folk metal tune in the style of Led Zeppelin. However, the album's secret gem is Star, a power ballad about a love affair broken up by the music biz that is driven by a sweetly harmonized guitar riff almost as heart-tugging as the song's lyrics.

    Loud 'N Proud

    Import

This landmark Nazareth album shows the tougher side of these Scottish hard rockers. When released in 1974, Loud 'N Proud turned heads of rock fans worldwide. Their preceding album Razamanaz already launched Nazareth into the hard rock stratosphere over night. Therefore, expectations for a successor were high. After recording eight songs with producer Roger Glover, the band decided to christen the album the way it sounds: this record is loud and the band is friggin' proud of it! Heavy on drums and distorted guitars, the band pushes its way through the 48 minutes like a steam train running wild, with the exception of a breezy excursion like Child In The Sun and a doomy but incredibly intense version of Bob Dylan's The Ballad Of Hollis Brown. Listen to the opening track Go Down Fighting, and you know what to expect.

180 Gram Clear Vinyl - Limited to 1000 Copies

Exercises is the second studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released in 1972. Although their music is most accurately described as blues-tinged hardrock, this record is quite far from the band's more standard fare, featuring, quite surprisingly, a number of acoustic arrangements, several songs with orchestral strings, and traditional Scottish airs. Indeed, the album's 1692 (Glen Coe Massacre) is about a real incident in Scottish history, namely, the massacre of Glencoe. The album is also significant for its Roy Thomas Baker production-only his third project, and well before his breakthrough works with Queen in the mid-seventies-and its oddly 'new wave' cover-art (designed by CCS Associates). An early version of the Razmanazz song, Woke Up This Morning, also makes an appearance on Side 1.

When we began working on R&R Telephone we had no idea that it might be Dan's last album with the band, so to have this record turn out so fantastically well has been a real delight. The band had not recorded a full album in Scotland for many a year, and to do so in a studio close to our 'spiritual home' of Dunfermline felt really great. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the studio during the sessions, and we think that this shows in the performances. This is an album that will remain in our hearts and minds for a long time. Includes 7 Previously Unreleased Tracks

Liner Notes By Renowned Author And
    Documentarian Robert Gordon

Freedom Highway Complete: Recorded Live at Chicago's New Nazareth
Church is a newly remixed, remastered and expanded edition of the live
concert masterpiece recorded by the Staple Singers in April 1965 in support
and celebration of that year's historic civil rights marches from Montgomery
to Selma, Alabama. In this stirring collection you will find the fervent
emotions and depth of feeling that only the most inspired gospel, folk and
    handclapping music can provide.
    p>
First released on Epic Records as an LP in 1965 the original Freedom
Highway album was constrained by the time limits of 12" vinyl and the full
service was edited down to only include key performance tracks. Freedom
Highway Complete: Recorded Live at Chicago's New Nazareth Church
is newly expanded to include 30+ additional minutes of the original
    performance and church service.
    p>
The exultant title song, "Freedom Highway", was written in March, 1965, at
the time Rev. Martin Luther King led the momentous freedom march from
Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. "When the Saints Go Marching In," "He's
All Right" and "We Shall Overcome" are other songs of a jubilant nature. In
the last selection, The Staple Singers are joined by the great choir of the
New Nazareth Church under the direction of Miss Ora Lee Hopkins.

    Paths To Charon

Fans of the current 1970's retro rock explosion can add another band to their list of pick-me-ups: Sweden's Skanska Mord are yet another Small Stone signee with a taste for the Nazareths and Atomic Roosters of old.

There is also something of the Seattle psychedelic scene in 'Paths To Charon'. Wah-wahing guitars (think Valis and Screaming Trees) open up the first track 'Dark Caves of Our Mind' on this sophomore record, while Jan Benggtson's bluesy howl owes a bit to the vocal work of Alice in Chains' Layne Staley and Soundgarden's Chris Cornell.

The band's lyrics range from the traditional doom'n'gloom of metal's pioneers, with tunes like the plodding 'A Black Day' making no bones about the terrible state of things, while 'Lords of Space and Time' and 'Alien Encounter' take the listener on excursions elsewhere. 'Laggasen' eases things back a bit for its intro, with some tootling keyboards parting briefly for some harder-edged guitar work.

Folks with Graveyard, Horisont and Kadavar on their playlist should check them out.

    Me Moan

Let's get a few facts straight right off the bat. The name is Daughn
Gibson - rhymes with Jaughn, or Raughn. He was born in Nazareth, PA,
and currently resides in the sleepy college town of Carlisle, PA, where
he frequents local watering holes like The Cave and Alibis. He's 6'5,
200 pounds, and has a head of thick, jet-black hair thicker. He played
drums in Pearls & Brass. Daughn was a trucker, sure, but he's also
packed boxes in an un-air conditioned warehouse, climbed up commercial
broadcast towers with untested levels of radiation, worked at an adult
bookstore, done sound at dive bars and collected unemployment checks.
    Daughn's been around.

Daughn Gibson first entered the daydreams of the general public in
2012 with his acclaimed debut, All Hell. Armed with modern technology
and a pile of thrift-store records, Daughn shook the ghosts out of scratchy
Christian folk records and baptized them as fierce Americana with his
booming baritone voice. His songs are as frequently tender as they are
prurient, as hopeful as they are brimming with despair. He treats the
past with respectful reverence while still being able to appreciate esoteric
modern-day electronic music from across the pond. The only real starting
point for the music of Daughn Gibson is Daughn Gibson.
It's on Daughn's second album and Sub Pop debut, Me Moan, that he
truly reveals himself to the world. If All Hell was a gritty black-and-white
movie, Me Moan is a widescreen IMAX 3D extravaganza. While the roots
of All Hell's sample-based music remain, these songs are performed
live, lushly detailed and richly orchestrated.

Live drums, guitars (by John Baizley of Baroness and Jim Elkington of Brokeback), pedal steel, horns,
house strings, bagpipes and organs appear on this record, but never
does it feel over-stuffed - every instrument or melody is perfectly in place.
Me Moan isn't just Daughn Gibson's primal scream, it's a skirmish
through the full spectrum of emotion, unfiltered and impassioned.
Like Cormac McCarthy or Robert Altman, Daughn Gibson is a uniquely
American artist who throws his soul into his work, free of compromise,
possessed by unique vision and so damn intense that he constantly
teeters on spontaneous combustion. It's not out of line to consider Me
Moan as his Blood Meridian; his Nashville. All that's left is for you to let
    Daughn in.
