Live At The Checkerboard Lounge 1981 (Awaiting Repress)

    White & Black Vinyl

On 22 November 1981, in the middle of their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Muddy Waters' club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz also played their part. It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. Now, restored from the original footage and with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this amazing blues night is being made available in an official release for the first time.

    Blue & Lonesome

Pressed On Two 180 Gram LPs And Housed In A Gatefold Sleeve

"This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do."

-Don Was, Co-Producer of 'Blue & Lonesome'

The Rolling Stones are set to release 'Blue & Lonesome', their first studio album in over a decade. Recorded in just three days in London, England, 'Blue & Lonesome' takes the band back to their roots and the passion for blues music which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.

Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band - Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.

'Blue & Lonesome' sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf - artists whose songs are featured on this album.

    SuperHeavy

New Supergroup featuring Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and A.R. Rahman

Mick Jagger has teamed up with Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, soul singer Joss Stone, Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack composer A.R. Rahman, and reggae star Damian Marley to form a band cooperative project called SuperHeavy. This diverse and eclectic line-up who share eleven Grammy Awards between them, have been recording together in various studios around the world, with the majority of the tracks on the project laid down over three weeks in Los Angeles in early 2011. Tracks include the first single Miracle Worker plus One Day One Night, Energy, Unbelievable, SuperHeavy, I Can't Take It No More, You're Never Gonna Change and I Don't Mind.

It's little wonder that Stewart refers to SuperHeavy as, A mad alchemist type experiment. Fusing the talents of one of the greatest front-men of all time, a two time Academy award winning Indian composer, a soul vocal prodigy, a three-time Grammy winning reggae star, and one of the most sought after producers in the world, you would expect the explosive results to defy categorization.

SuperHeavy came together after Jagger and Stewart considered what a band comprising of musicians from different genres would sound like. Jagger explains, Dave really wanted to make a record with a different group of musicians, in other words, with different backgrounds of music. Instead of everyone being a rock musician, or basically a blues musician, or some other genre, he wanted to get as many genres together that would fit. I said it sounds like a good idea. I never thought it would actually happen.

Numbered, Limited Edition Vinyl Pressed by The Pallas Group, Germany

Mastered by Bernie Grundman from the Original Masters

Strange Weather was Marianne Faithfull's first complete studio album following her recovery from a 17-year drug addiction. In her earlier recording career, many people were won over by her soft, feathery voice. Unfortunately, Faithfull's public image became tainted during her relationship with Mick Jagger in the late 1960s and drugs took over her life until the mid-1980s. The 1987 release contains a mix of rock, blues and cabaret and includes her re-recorded hit, As Tears Go By which proved to be even more poignant the second time around.

    Special Postcard Sleeve!

The first album in his 'sex-funk' era, Greetings From L.A. (1972) was a step into another direction for Buckley. Ordinarily known for his signature Folk sound, on Greetings From L.A. he focused on Soul, Jazz and Funk for the first time in his career. Throughout the album, Buckley shifts effortlessly between honky-tonk sing-a- longs, groovy organ grinders and laidback Soul. His vocals at times resemble a cross between Mick Jagger & Jim Morrison. Just like the original, the front sleeve contains a unique punch-out postcard of a wonderful Los Angeles vista.

    Sweet Summer Sun-Hyde Park Live

This summer, over 100,000 delirious fans packed into Hyde Park for two spectacular outdoor concerts to see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood do what they do best. The Stones delivered a five star performance packed full of hits such as 'Start Me Up', 'Brown Sugar', 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', 'Miss You', 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll', 'Gimme Shelter', 'Doom And Gloom' and 'Sympathy For The Devil', as well as one or two surprises.

Mick Jagger said: "It was a great gig It was beautiful with the sun going down over Hyde Park. I can't think of a better way celebrate the Rolling Stones' 50 than doing it on our home patch in front of 100,000 people on a glorious summer night enjoy it we certainly did."

Keith Richards commented: "Coming back to Hyde Park was like a full circle being drawn, and the band were in top form. We thought what could be more appropriate than having a great summer in London!"

From the second the Rolling Stones stepped out onto the stage each night, through to the dazzling firework and pyrotechnic display that heralded the end of the concert, fans old and new were treated to a non-stop, hit after hit performance, which took them through the Stones' huge back catalogue. Keith Richards wowed the crowds by weaving his charismatic guitar licks with Ronnie Wood's immense solos, Mick Jagger was on spectacular form, his boundless energy on stage matched by a number of stunning outfit changes, and Charlie Watts the unflappable heartbeat of the band, driving the band on through the set.

Former guitarist Mick Taylor - whose live debut with the Stones took place at the original 1969 Hyde Park concert - joined the band on stage to guest on the bluesy 'Midnight Rambler' and on closing track 'Satisfaction', whilst long-term live band members Lisa Fischer, Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell, Bernard Fowler, Bobby Keys and Tim Ries all added their inimitable flair and finesse.

The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Sun - Hyde Park Live is the perfect way for concert-goers to relive their favourite memories from the gigs, and for their fans to see the band back where they truly belong: live on the stage in their hometown.

This debut album, originally released in 1992, is named after Blues-Rock band The Red Devils' favourite Hollywood spot, which also happens to be the place where they cut this live album.

During the recordings with legendary producer Rick Rubin, they were introduced to Mick Jagger and Johnny Cash, who would later record songs with them and occasionally join them on stage at the Los Angeles club.

The stars were aligned for a bright future for The Red Devils, but unfortunately internal frictions and substance abuse problems put an end to their career in 1994.

Their only full length album, 'King King' is seen as a true Blues classic and Music On Vinyl is honoured to release this album on vinyl for the very first time.

I've Got My Own Album To Do

I've Got My Own Album To Do is the first solo album by Ron Wood, released in September 1974. An all-star project recorded outside of his activities with the Faces. Wood has said that the album title originated from contributors such as George Harrison and Mick Jagger nagging me to let them go home and finish their own projects.

During this period, Wood assisted Jagger in writing and recording the Rolling Stones' 1974 single It's Only Rock 'n Roll, while Jagger reciprocated by helping Wood with this album's opening track, I Can Feel the Fire. Keith Richards was another participant at the sessions, in addition to performing concerts in London with Wood to promote the release.

Wood's collaboration with Harrison, Far East Man, was re-recorded by Harrison and appeared on the former Beatle's Dark Horse album three months after the release of I've Got My Own Album To Do. Other musicians on the record include Rod Stewart, fellow Faces Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones, Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, and the all-American rhythm section of Willie Weeks and Andy Newmark.

    The Rising Sons

Featuring Taj Mahal, Ry Cooder, Jesse Lee Kincaid, Kevin Kelley, and Gary Marker, the Rising Sons added an earthy dose of rural country blues to the fast-evolving rock scene of the mid-'60s. Though this Los Angeles-based group led a storied existence between 1964-1966 and were well-known for their live performances -admirers included Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Mark Lindsay, and David Crosby -their debut album, produced by Terry Melcher of Byrds fame, languished unissued in the Columbia vaults.

To set matters right, we've rounded up a dozen long-lost Rising Sons tracks and dressed them up in a pair of pristine, previously unpublished full color photos to present the Rising Sons' self-titled debut LP as it might have looked and sounded had it appeared in 1966!

    Surfing With The Alien

Joe Satriani is one of the world's best and most well-known guitarists. Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, and among his students were now famous guitarists Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie Hunter and Alex Skolnick. He himself is influenced by blues-rock guitar icons such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore and Jeff Beck. Satriani worked with a range of musicians from several musical genres, including Mick Jagger, Deep Purple, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Brian May, Patrick Rondat, Paul Gilbert, Adrian Legg, and Robert Fripp. He is currently the lead guitarist for the supergroup Chickenfoot.

'Surfing with the Alien' is Satriani's second album, released in 1987 and meant his breakthrough to a larger audience. It was the first instrumental rock record to enter the charts in a very long time. Although the album contains fast and complex songs as well as slower, melodic songs Satriani's unique style is always easily recognizable.

    Bush Doctor

    Remastered Audio

Bush Doctor is the third studio album by Jamaican reggae musician Peter Tosh. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer he was one of the core members of the band The Wailers (1963-1974). Tosh also established himself as a successful solo artist. In 1978 he was contracted by Rolling Stones Records and the album Bush Doctor was released in the same year, introducing Tosh to a larger audience.

The single from the album, a cover version of The Temptations song Don't Look Back, performed as a duet with Mick Jagger, made Tosh one of the best-known reggae artists. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is also featured on the album, playing guitar on Bush Doctor and Stand Firm.

    The Astonishing

The Astonishing is undisputedly the most ambitious undertaking by a band whose cerebral compositions already define the vanguard of progressive hard rock.

The Astonishing is enriched exponentially by the integration of a real orchestra and choir, arranged by conductor David Campbell, whose work graces over 450 gold and platinum albums, including watershed releases from Adele, Justin Timberlake, Linkin Park, Evanescence, BeyoncÉ, and his son, Beck. The Astonishing was produced by Petrucci with engineering and mixing by Richard Chycki, whose resume includes work with Rush, Aerosmith, and Mick Jagger. Other organic sounds are more abundant than at any point in the band's history, with Rudess in particular relishing the tones from a grand piano and Hammond organ.

Like Tommy or The Wall, the songs on The Astonishing work as both singular compositions and overall story components. Writing the music as a duo, Petrucci and Rudess venture into unexplored corners of their sound without sacrificing their musical identity.

    England's Newest Hit Makers

The Rolling Stones is the debut album by The Rolling Stones, released by Decca Records in the UK on 16 April 1964. The American edition of the LP, with a slightly different track list, came out on London Records on 30 May 1964, with the added title England's Newest Hit Makers.

Recorded at Regent Sound Studios in London over the course of five days in January and February 1964, The Rolling Stones was produced by then-managers Andrew Loog Oldham and Eric Easton.

The majority of the tracks reflect the band's love for R&B. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (whose professional name until 1978 omitted the s in his surname) were fledgling songwriters during early 1964, contributing only one original composition to the album: Tell Me (You're Coming Back). Two songs are credited to Nanker Phelge - a pseudonym the band used for group compositions from 1963 to 1965. Phil Spector and Gene Pitney both contributed to the recording sessions, and are referred to as Uncle Phil and Uncle Gene in the subtitle of the Phelge instrumental Now I've Got a Witness.

The album cover photo was taken by Nicholas Wright. The cover bears no title or identifying information other than the photo and the Decca logo - an unheard of design concept originated by manager Andrew Oldham.

Upon its release, The Rolling Stones became one of 1964's biggest sellers in the UK, staying at #1 for twelve weeks.

    Sugar

Twenty years after the release of G. Love and Special Sauce's debut album, the original lineup of the revered hip-hop blues trio is back together for a new
album, Sugar, and an extensive U.S. tour.

I had a good idea for a riff off an old hip hop sample which I changed up, flipped upside down and played with a slide guitar, G. Love says about the first
single Nothing Quite Like Home. We cut the song live with the trio at Brushfire in L.A and added the 'B' section and drum break. I had been talking to Dan
Reynolds from Imagine Dragons earlier in the summer about working on something and I sent him the instrumental we cut. He penned the lyrics and sent
back a real tight demo over the instrumental. Later I added my vocals and got a helping hand from two of my favorite singers -- Ben Harper, who just
brought the chorus to another level, and Marc Broussard, who added some nice backgrounds.

SUGAR reunites G. Love, upright bassist James Jimi Jazz Prescott and drummer Jeffrey The Houseman Clemens for the first time in eight years.
Tracked largely at Brushfire Records' Solar Powered Plastic Plant studio in L.A, the disc also features Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo, current Oscar
nominee Merry Clayton - best known for her duet with Mick Jagger on the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter - and others.

    In The Right Place

Dr. John, or Mac Rebennack as known to friends and family, is universally celebrated as the living embodiment of the rich musical heritage exclusive to New Orleans. His very colorful musical career began in the 1950s when he wrote and played guitar on some of the greatest records to come out of the Crescent City, including recordings by Professor Longhair, Art Neville, Joe Tex and Frankie Ford. A notorious gun incident forced the artist to give up the guitar and concentrate on organ and piano. Further trouble at home sent Dr. John west in the 1960s, where he continued to be in demand as a session musician, playing on records by Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison and Aretha Franklin to name a few. He also launched his solo career, developing the charismatic persona of Dr. John The Night Tripper. Adorned with voodoo charms and regalia, a legend was born with his breakthrough 1968 album Gris-gris, which established his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock and Creole roots. Several of his many career highlights include the masterful album Sun, Moon and Herbs in 1971 which included cameos from Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger and 1973's In The Right Place, which contained the chart hits Right Place Wrong Time and Such A Night.
