Hardwired To Self-Destruct (Pink Vinyl) (Pre-Order)

    Pressed On Pink Colored Vinyl

Metallica released their eleventh studio album, Hardwired To Self-Destruct, on November 18th, via Blackened Recordings. The 2 Vinyl set is the Grammy® Award winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee' s first studio album since 2008's multi-platinum Death Magnetic.

Hardwired To Self-Destruct is produced by Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed Death Magnetic. Metallica formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield and has become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. They have scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991's Metallica (commonly referred to as The Black Album), with sales of nearly 17 million copies in the United States alone, making it the best-selling album in the history of Soundscan. Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

In December 2013, Metallica made history when they performed a rare concert in Antarctica, becoming the first act to ever play all seven continents all within a year, and earning themselves a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. "Hardwired," the first track to be released from the forthcoming album was played for the first time during a live remote broadcast from Metallica's HQ in the Bay Area. During an interview with Minneapolis rock station 93X discussing the band's performance at U.S. Bank Stadium on August 20th, Lars Ulrich stunned 93X's Pablo by unleashing the incendiary song for the first time, much to the surprise (and delight) of the station, as well as fans around the world.

    Metallica

Ranked 252/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The self-titled Metallica (aka The Black Album), the bands fifth studio album, became one of the biggest selling albums in history. The 1991 album has sold more than 15 million copies in the U.S. (the rare diamond certification) and 22 million worldwide. With some of the groups most popular and radiofriendly songs, Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters, Metallica peaked at #1 and brought the band solidly into a league all their own. Though a step away from the thrash metal the band pioneered, the album was nevertheless heavier than anything the band had yet recorded. Included in Rolling Stones Essential Recordings Of The 90s and Spins 90 Greatest Albums Of The 90s, The Black Album was also honored as one of the Best Metal Albums Of All Time by Q Magazine, which noted that Metallica elevated the band from cult metalheroes into global superstars.

Metallica's debut album--originally released in 1983--is a masterpiece of thrash metal, and as good a marker as any for the debut of the genre. Fusing the rapid-fire attack of bands like Motorhead with a guitar style reminiscent of such British heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Metallica essentially created a new kind of metal. Several of the songs from this 1983 album have since become classics, including Seek & Destroy, The Four Horsemen, and Jump in the Fire. Essential for any heavy metal fan.

    Garage Inc

For many years, Metallica's 1987 EP Garage Days Re-Revisited was the most sought-after item in their catalog; it was constantly bootlegged in the '90s, and often supplemented by a host of covers Metallica had released on singles and compilations throughout the years. By 1998, the band had understandably grown frustrated with this situation and decided to confront the problem head-on by reissuing all these rarities. Savvy businessmen that they are, they also realized they needed to give hardcore fans who already owned all the covers a reason to purchase the new set -- hence, the expansion of the Garage Days EP to the double-disc blowout Garage, Inc. The second disc's rarities are balanced by the first disc's new covers, the bulk of which were recorded following the Reload tour. It shouldn't come as a surprise that these covers recall the blooze 'n' boogie heavy rock of the Loads, but what is a surprise is that Metallica seems to have found their footing in this style through other people's songs. Whether it's Bob Seger, Blue Öyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Nick Cave, or the all-star jam on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Tuesday's Gone, the band effortlessly makes the songs seem like their own, through a bizarre mix of respect and ballsy irreverence. ... And if raw is what you want, the equally diverse disc two provides all the thrills you could hope for. At one time, it might have seemed a little odd that Metallica would cover Budgie, Diamond Head, the Misfits, and Queen, but if Garage, Inc. proves anything, it's that the group's musical instincts, risks, and sense of humor have made them the greatest metal band of the '80s and '90s.

Slayer is an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame with its 1986 release Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the big four thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Between 1991 and 2013, the band sold 4.9 million albums in the United States.

Slayer's musical style involves fast tremolo picking, double bass drumming, riffs in irregular scales and shouted vocals. In the original line-up, King, Hanneman, and lead vocalist/bassist Tom Araya contributed to the band's lyrics, and most of the band's music was written by King and Hanneman, with additional help from Araya and drummer Dave Lombardo. The band's lyrics and album art, which cover topics such as serial killers, necrophilia, Satanism, religion, anti-religion, Nazism, and warfare, have generated album bans, delays, lawsuits, and criticism from religious groups and the public. However, its music has been highly influential, often being cited by many bands as an influence musically, visually, and lyrically.

Ranked 167/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

One of the defining albums of thrash metal, the 1986 album Master of Puppets is arguably Metallica's best as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton. Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. The striding Battery, the darkly lit Welcome Home (Sanitarium), as well as the complex instrumental, Orion, all gave powerful testament to the band's ever-developing skill and vision. An album with lengthy arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!

    ReLoad

Metallica's seventh album and counterpart to the band's quadruple platinum 1996 release Load. Produced by Bob Rock with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. Fuel was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance while Better Than You won for Best Metal Performance. The original idea was to make Metallica's sixth album a double album. However, with problems recording so many songs at one time, the band decided that half of the songs were to be released and the band would continue to work on the remaining songs and release them the following year. Speaking about the recording sessions in an interview for Guitar World, guitarist Kirk Hammet stated that We were gonna do them both as a double album, but we didn't want to spend that long in the studio. Also, if we did a double album, it would have been a lot more material for people to digest, and some of it might have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Ride the Lightning is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on the band's concept, represents an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The album title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Whilst still rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partially because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and because he had more input in the songwriting. It was the last album to feature songwriting contribution from former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine.

Ride the Lightning received positive response from music critics, who saw it as a more ambitious effort than its predecessor. Metallica promoted the album on the Bang That Head That Doesn't Bang European tour in late 1984, and on its North American leg in the first half of 1985. The band performed at a few major music festivals, such as Monsters of Rock and Day on the Green later that year. Two months after its release, Elektra Records signed Metallica to a multi-year contract and reissued the album. Ride the Lightning peaked at number 100 on the Billboard 200 with no radio exposure. Although 75,000 copies were initially pressed for the American market, the album sold half a million by November 1987. It was certified 6× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2012 for shipping six million copies in the United States. Many rock publications have ranked Ride the Lightning on their best album lists, saying it had a lasting impact on the genre.

    ...And Justice For All

Metallica's 1988 release, ...And Justice For All was the thrash metal giants' commercial breakthrough. It was their first album to reach the Top 10 (#6), first to earn a Top 40 single (One) and first to win a Grammy Award (One). ...And Justice For All went platinum in 9 weeks and today is certified eight times platinum in the U.S. alone. The album was also the band's first without original bassist Cliff Burton who passed away in 1986 when the band's tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.

Plays Metallica By Four Cellos (Awaiting Repress)

Includes 3 Bonus Tracks Never Before Available

Take four cellos, mix with a quartet of Finnish classical-music students who possess a note-for-note knowledge of metal giants Metallica, and beat gently. Viola! You have a truly stirring album that provides tangible evidence of the dramatic passages and intricate arrangements that classical music and heavy metal share.

On Enter Sandman and Creeping Death, the exquisite playing of the cellists intensifies the darkness and emotion of Metallica. In the process the strength and versatility of the group's songwriting is given more credence.

Perhaps the most remarkable element of the album is the faithfulness that's shown to the original songs, right down to faultlessly following the vocal melodies. With Plays Metallica by Four Cellos, Apocalyptica have proved that the universal language of good music is unbound by genre. Here is a clever concept brilliantly realized.

    Death Magnetic

One of the most influential bands in music, ranked eighth on the list of the biggest-selling groups in history, Metallica unveils its ninth studio album, Death Magnetic. The band's first album in five years, Death Magnetic is also its first with renowned producer Rick Rubin, first with bassist Robert Trujillo and first on Warner Bros. Heavy and thrashy, unafraid to embrace the band's past yet move into the future, Death Magnetic, says Kirk Hammett, is the best album we've put out in, say, 15 years.

    Kill 'Em All

Metallica's debut album--originally released in 1983--is a masterpiece of thrash metal, and as good a marker as any for the debut of the genre. Fusing the rapid-fire attack of bands like Motorhead with a guitar style reminiscent of such British heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Metallica essentially created a new kind of metal. Several of the songs from this 1983 album have since become classics, including Seek & Destroy, The Four Horsemen, and Jump in the Fire. Essential for any heavy metal fan.

    Ride The Lightning

First release for legendary live broadcast of this early Green Day performance - features rare live versions of much of Green Day's pre-Dookie catalogue!

It was during their tour in support of Kerplunk that the band played an in-house set on May 28th at legendary New Jersey station WMFU FM, which was broadcast live. With a song list predominately made up of tracks from their first two albums and early EPs, the performance, featured in full on this LP, offers a perfect retrospective of their early career.

An intimate event without an audience, save for DJs and technicians, the band still play in a typically exhilarating manner for close to 70 minutes, during which, in addition to their own multiple compositions, covers of numbers originally by fellow local bands Operation Ivy and Fifteen are included.

In the near 20 years since this startling performance took place, Green Day have become among the finest Rock bands ever to emerge and now reside in the same league as greats like U2, Queen or Metallica, but listening to this recording now, helps to remember that Green Day have always been great, and its looking unlikely that this status will slip anytime soon.

    Hardwired To Self-Destruct

    Master Of Puppets

An album with lengthly arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!

    Ride The Lightning

Kill 'Em All may have revitalized heavy metal's underground, but Ride the Lightning was even more stunning, exhibiting staggering musical growth and boldly charting new directions that would affect heavy metal for years to come. Incredibly ambitious for a one-year-later sophomore effort, Ride the Lightning finds Metallica aggressively expanding their compositional technique and range of expression. Every track tries something new, and every musical experiment succeeds mightily. The lyrics push into new territory as well -- more personal, more socially conscious, less metal posturing. But the true heart of Ride the Lightning lies in its rich musical imagination. There are extended, progressive epics; tight, concise groove-rockers; thrashers that blow anything on Kill 'Em All out of the water, both in their urgency and the barest hints of melody that have been added to the choruses. Some innovations are flourishes that add important bits of color, like the lilting, pseudo-classical intro to the furious Fight Fire with Fire, or the harmonized leads that pop up on several tracks. Others are major reinventions of Metallica's sound, like the nine-minute, album-closing instrumental The Call of Ktulu, or the haunting suicide lament Fade to Black. The latter is an all-time metal classic; it begins as an acoustic-driven, minor-key ballad, then gets slashed open by electric guitars playing a wordless chorus, and ends in a wrenching guitar solo over a thrashy yet lyrical rhythm figure. Basically, in a nutshell, Metallica sounded like they could do anything. Heavy metal hadn't seen this kind of ambition since Judas Priest's late-'70s classics, and Ride the Lightning effectively rewrote the rule book for a generation of thrashers. If Kill 'Em All was the manifesto, Ride the Lightning was the revolution itself.

    Load

Released five years after Metallicas famous Black album, Load remains proof that the legendary Bay Area band was capable of much more than thrash signatures and charged metal. Coming at a time when hard rock was in the process of reorganizing, the 1996 set led the way and announced to the world that Metallica wasnt content to rest on its laurels.

By slowing down the tempos, decreasing the aggression, and upping the depth of its grooves, the quartet channels its English and Southern rock influences in spectacular fashion. Load mines the shorter, blues-oriented approaches pioneered by Led Zeppelin, Cream, Lynryd Skynyrd, and Deep Purple, expanding on these classic parameters by retaining some of the ferocious bite Metallica injected into its formative early works.

Having sold more than five million copies in the U.S. alone and topped the Billboard album charts for four consecutive weeks, the album confirmed that Metallicas evolution happened without any inherent loss to its basic appeal. Guitarist Kirk Hammett is allowed more room to explore tonalities, and rhythms serve the songs in concise fashion, making the record Metallicas purest rock effort. Aint My Bitch, King Nothing, Hero of the Day, and Until It Sleeps all received considerable airplay and remain concert and radio staples to this day.

    St. Anger

Originally, released in 2003, St. Anger is Metallica's eighth studio album and first since 1997's ReLoad. They may have a new outlook and a new bass player here, but one thing about Metallica will forever remain unchanged, they are still one of the biggest, greatest rock bands in the world.

The Bob Rock produced affair is heavy, it is intense, and it reaffirmed Metallica's place at the top of Metal where they belong. As drummer Lars Ulrich put it, If you're looking for ballads on this record, you'll be looking for a long, long time.

    Lights Camera Revolution

Music On Vinyl are thrilled to unleash the fourth studio album from Venice Beach, L.A. heavyweights Suicidal Tendencies, Lights Camera Revolution (1990).

Album opener and unmistakable anthem You Can't Bring Me Down - S.T.'s rally against vicious rumours and their notorious ban from playing public places in L.A. - sets the tone for the record, with 'Cyco' Mike Muir's lyrics of social commentary handled with intelligence, humour and a punk rock middle-finger. Lights Camera Revolution boasts the line-up now deemed classic. Suicidal's flirtation with the mainstream (complete with obligatory criticism of 'selling-out') went Gold in the US with over half a million copies sold, and to this day remains an essential record in any Metal or Punk collection.
