    Rust In Peace

With their fourth release, Rust In Peace, Megadeth reached musical maturity and the album showcased a much tighter sound, with Dave 'Mega Dave' Mustaine's writing style adopting a rhythmically complex progressive edge. From Holy Wars to Lucretia and Five Magics to Dawn Patrol, Hangar 18 and the title track, Rust In Peace is an aggressive affair and one of Megadeth's strongest musical efforts. The album was certified Platinum in 1994 and also received Grammy nominations in 1990 and 1991 for Best Metal Performance.

    TH1RT3EN

TH1RT3EN has several levels of meaning, which Dave Mustaine, who first picked up an axe at the age of 13, reveals. He says, I was born on September 13th; this is my thirteenth record. It just seemed like the right thing to call it 'TH1RT3EN'. Mustaine is incredibly proud of the music put forth on the new recording, saying, This record is the culmination of my work over the 13 records I recorded. There are moments on 'TH1RT3EN' that capture my every emotion, and other moments where I am releasing feelings I never knew existed! The album was recorded at Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California with producer Johnny K.

    Persistence Of Time

In 1990, while making Persistence of Time, the members of Anthrax looked up from their comic books, quit joking around, and realized they were going to die someday. But unlike its Big Four brethren (Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth), the Fourth Horseband of the Thrashpocalypse didn't celebrate the coming of the grim reaper. The aptly named Persistence of Time opens with the ticking of a clock and unleashes heart-pounding waves of existential dread, stylistic evolution, and white-hot anger at death itself.

Cut at Mobile Fidelity by engineer Krieg Wunderlich and afforded requisite groove space for the first time ever on a proper 2LP pressing that accommodates the band's longer songs, Anthrax's 1990 magnum opus sounds as genuine, forceful, and uncompromising as the songs' urgent lyrics and thematic struggles. Serious and complex, this definitive analog pressing of Persistence of Time-known by fans as POT-presents the vital music as a furious blend of dynamic speed and three-dimensional heaviness.

Seething anthems like Keep it in the Family and In My World give way to straight-ahead headbangers like H8 Red and a rapid-paced cover of Joe Jackson's Got the Time. Guitarists Scott Ian and Dan Spitz converse with mosquito whines and monster-truck thunder. Intro to Reality forms a prog-inspired cocoon with harmonizing twin guitars and contemplative resonance until Frank Bello's thundering bass hacks its way out and leads straight into the bare-knuckle Belly of the Beast." Throughout, Charlie Benante's virtuosic drumming accelerates and slows the crashing pulse of Anthrax's last album until 2011 to feature Joey Belladonna's riotous vocals.

The band's darkest affair, Persistence of Time shakes its fist at mortality, snarls at wasted life, and pits burgeoning maturity against livid, riff-driven metal. Tackling more grown-up motifs, extended arrangements, and slower time signatures than on albums past, the group manages to preserve its youthful energy while expanding beyond the borders of thrash.

    Persistence of Time is timeless.

    Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?

A bona-fide thrash metal masterpiece, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? combines a punkish political awareness with a dark, threatening, typically heavy metal worldview and it remains one of the most powerful and contagious thrash records of the era. It catapulted Megadeth into the mainstream music scene and earned them worldwide attention from both critics and the heavy metal community alike. In addition to the propulsive title track, the album features the scorchers Wake Up Dead, Black Friday and My Last Words among others.

So Far So Good So What!

Following the release of 1986's heavy metal classic Peace Sells But Who's Buying?, half of Megadeth's original line-up abruptly split. Guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson parted, leaving the band in the hands of guitarist/singer Dave Mustaine and bassist Dave Ellefson. They were up to the challenge as their subsequent release of So Far, So Good...So What? helped solidify the band as one of speed metal's leading acts. Highlights include the band's reworking of the Sex Pistols' Anarchy in the U.K. and a tribute to Metallica's late bassist Cliff Burton on In My Darkest Hour among others. Here on Limited Edition 180g Vinyl.

Slayer is an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame with its 1986 release Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the big four thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Between 1991 and 2013, the band sold 4.9 million albums in the United States.

Slayer's musical style involves fast tremolo picking, double bass drumming, riffs in irregular scales and shouted vocals. In the original line-up, King, Hanneman, and lead vocalist/bassist Tom Araya contributed to the band's lyrics, and most of the band's music was written by King and Hanneman, with additional help from Araya and drummer Dave Lombardo. The band's lyrics and album art, which cover topics such as serial killers, necrophilia, Satanism, religion, anti-religion, Nazism, and warfare, have generated album bans, delays, lawsuits, and criticism from religious groups and the public. However, its music has been highly influential, often being cited by many bands as an influence musically, visually, and lyrically.

    Stained Class

Stained Class on Numbered Limited Edition LP from Mobile Fidelity Silver Label

Pioneering 1978 Record Planted Flag for Speed Metal, Features Crisp and Clean Production Unlike Any Other Heavy Album of its Era

Band's Razor-Blade Logo and Studs-and-Metal Image Begin Here

Deemed The Heaviest Heavy Metal Album of All Time: Last Priest Set to Feature Songwriting By All Five Members

Includes Exciter, Better By You, Better Than Me, Beyond the Realms of Death

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI

Judas Priest's namesake razor-blade logo is recognized the world over. So, too, is the band's leather-and-studs look, the roughness and rebelliousness seamlessly meshing with the group's no-nonsense music. Both trademarks arrived with 1978's Stained Class, a benchmark not only for the British quintet but for the international hard-rock community. Boasting cleaner, crisper, and more refined production than its previous efforts, the record became an archetype of the style that ultimately became speed metal.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI, this Silver Series numbered limited edition LP opens up the sound and spectacle contained within Stained Class like never before. Immeasurably more dynamic than the 2001 CD remasters and more transparent, extended, and immediate than the original vinyl pressings, the reissue brings the metal gods to life. Rob Halford's piercing falsetto reaches untold heights, and the crunch-and-burn of the dual-guitar interplay boasts realistic weight, balance, and tension. There's nothing like the sound of metal on vinyl.

The last Judas Priest effort to feature songwriting by all five members, Stained Class briefly attained infamous status during the early 1990s after it became the subject of a legal case involving two misguided youths. Yet Priest's unanimous victory in court further reaffirmed the LP's purist, no-frills appeal and, moreover, drew attention to the symphonic precision and cleaver-sharp melodies within what Metal Hammer magazine declared "the heaviest heavy metal album of all time."

At once visceral, complex, aggressive, sinister, and focused, Stained Class addresses topics such as death, victory, and the alien unknown with combustible relentlessness and instinctual passion. While the turbo-thrust gallop of "Exciter" and blaring momentum on "White Heat, Red Hot" rank as straight-ahead shots of adrenaline, the band displays a still-underappreciated lyrical intelligence on "Savages," the title track, and "Heroes End," all owing to long-view perspectives and Biblical imagery. And with "Better By You, Better Than Me" and "Beyond the Realms of Death," Priest cut two songs whose influence on the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, and countless others remains today.

As metal journalist Martin Popoff wrote in his book The Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time: "The album was first and foremost a spot of production crumpet proposing that this kind of music could exist and thrive within the realm of armchair audiophile fidelity. This was applied nowhere with more force than within the tom-tom sound of drummer Les Binks, who holds the philosophical line to the briefly sparked Simon Phillips' version of the band, one record previous."

    The Year The Sun Died

Reactivated legendary Seattle metal band, Sanctuary, have wrapped up the recording of their new album, The Year The Sun Died. Recorded in Seattle at Soundhouse Studios with Zeuss (Whitechapel, Hatebreed), the album will feature 11 tracks and a bonus track, a cover of the Doors classic, Waiting for the Sun.

    Comments singer, Warrel Dane:

Now that hell has officially frozen over and the pigs have flown I can proudly say The Year The Sun Died is finished. The record that nobody thought would ever get here has come in kicking ... and yes there is screaming!

Working with Zeuss (aka the commander) was great. He really pushed us all to be better. This is a very modern sounding record with roots still firmly planted in old school six string metal and I gotta give him creds for that.

Sanctuary was formed in Seattle in 1985 and released two studio albums on Epic Records, Refuge Denied in 1987 and Into the Mirror Black in 1989. They toured the world with the likes of Megadeth, Warlock, Fates Warning, Death Angel and many more. In 1992, the band officially disbanded with singer Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard forming the critically acclaimed group, Nevermore. Sanctuary announced in 2010 that they would be reuniting and played metal festivals in both Europe and the US with the original line up save for guitarist Sean Blosl. Former Forced Entry guitarist, Brad Hull has stepped into to fill his shoes as a permanent touring and recording member.

When Dave Mustaine was diagnosed with radial neuropathy (strained nerves in his left arm and hand) in 2002, it almost meant the end of Megadeth after two decades of thrash metal. Megadeth's first years are deemed legendary with classic albums such as Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction. Then in 2004 Mustaine resurrected Megadeth and released The System Has Failed. A surprise return including Chris Poland on guitar whom Mustaine fired after the masterful Peace Sells album. This re-pairing makes the album even more ferocious than the good old fashioned Megadeth thrash is all about. Dave Mustaine is going for that vibe on Back In The Day and he infuses it with melodic songwriting which makes this an outstanding Megadeth album, if not, the best Metal Album of 2004!

    Screaming For Vengeance

Screaming for Vengeance on Numbered Limited Edition LP from Mobile Fidelity Silver Label

Double-Platinum 1982 Blockbuster Remains Judas Priest's Most Commercially Successful LP

Includes Electric Eye, Screaming for Vengeance, You've Got Another Thing Comin'

Dual Magnesium-Burn Guitars, Leather-Tough Percussion, Molten-Hot Melodies Help Form Triangular Equilibrium of Speed, Accessibility, and Attitude

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI

You've got another thing comin'! Distinguished by dual magnesium-burn guitars, leather-tough percussion, molten-hot melodies, and the unmistakable piercing falsetto of operatic vocalist, Screaming for Vengeance became the soundtrack to millions of music lovers' lives in the early 1980s as Judas Priest continued to lay waste to its contemporaries' softer, cheesier hard-rock styles. An effort on which precision-based speed, mainstream accessibility, and resilient attitude meet in triangular equilibrium, the 1982 set remains the British metal legends' top-selling record.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed at RTI, this Silver Series numbered limited edition LP shows off the grand intersection of daring adventure and commercial purpose achieved via ironclad production values and entrenched grooves. The latter particularly benefit from this analog pressing, as the group never overlooks the importance of rhythm and pace even when stoking tempos to engine-combusting levels. Leagues ahead of the sonics gracing its peers' albums from the time, the sense of balance, separation, and realism is on par with that of big-budget rock creations.

Staked by the breakout "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," which burns white-hot with foot-pounding riffs, prize-fighting percussion, and singer Rob Halford's gun-for-hire blare, Screaming for Vengeance clutches hold of the jugular and doesn't let go. A return to the band's gritty, purist roots, the record revisits the themes of darkness, menace, and the unknown firmly established on the pioneering Stained Class and Killing Machine. Along with those albums, and British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance is the template for the catchy albeit uncompromisingly heavy crossover success Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax enjoyed years later.

With the one-two opening tandem of the instrumental "The Hellion" and stomping "Electric Eye," overseen by Halford as if he's embodying the persona of a wicked James Bond villain, Priest sounds utterly futuristic and terrifying, the instruments seemingly on a swivel and the sawed-off tones flooding the guitar solos with intimidation. A classic head-out-to-the highway anthem ("Riding on the Wind"), a racing proto-thrash banger ("Screaming for Vengeance"), and a scorching exorcism ("Devil's Child") function as the metal-hued bolts that hold the foundations of this Top 20-charting benchmark in place.

Perhaps more so here than on any other record, Priest spit-shines hooks and collusive six-string harmonic leads to perfection, giving listeners ying-yang doses of pain and pleasure, sweet and bitter. Songs at once invite sing-a-longs and fist-pumping responses. Screaming for Vengeance marked the last time Priest would sound this heavy in the 80s. No wonder it was voted the 12th best metal album of all time in Martin Popoff's definitive book of the same name.

    Super Collider

Iconic thrash metallers Megadeth revealed today the title of their upcoming album due to be released in June 2013. Super Collider was the chosen name for the fourteenth full-length studio album. Megadeth's Super Collider is the first release through Mustaine's new label, Tradecraft, to be distributed worldwide by Universal Music Enterprises.

Mustaine said during a break in the sessions: "It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal. It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from the Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Universal will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, Super Collider. If Megadeth being here isn't satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world."

Mustaine added: "Shawn, Chris and David have all been feverishly contributing some great music and I believe we are doing our best work ever together in the studio right now!"

    Ashes of the Wake

Violence begins to mend what was broken, is not only a lyric taken from Lamb of God's song Omerta, it's a theme that's emblazoned throughout Ashes of the Wake both in message and music, inspired as much by personal trial as by world politics. Lamb of God showcases their 80's thrash roots on Ashes of the Wake by featuring solos from both Testament and Megadeth. At the same time the band plows forward here sampling from the new, the old and adding their own menacing footprint.

    God Hates Us All

While thrash-metal peers Metallica and Megadeth have mellowed both musically and lyrically, Slayer's music and message remains unrelentingly anti-nearly-everything and almost unspeakably brutal. Without significant radio airplay, the hard-core California-bred quartet has amassed a loyal fan base that will not be disappointed by the 42 minutes of sheer aggression found on God Hates Us All. The twin-guitar onslaught of Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, coupled with the rapid heartbeat double bass drums of Paul Bostaph, match the often sacrilegious and abhorrent-to-many lyrics, made even more disturbing by the fact that the album's release coincided with the World Trade Center tragedy.

This is metal for atheists, as King writes terrifyingly prophetically: Pessimist, terrorist, targeting the next mark/ Global chaos feeding on hysteria. In keeping with the album's doomsday outlook, New Faith offers: Welcome to the horror of the Revelation. A terrifyingly vitriolic and too-real album, God Hates Us All more than earns the parental advisory sticker it carries.

    Seasons In The Abyss

After staking out new territory with the underrated South of Heaven, Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of Reign in Blood for their third major-label album, Seasons in the Abyss. Essentially, Seasons fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of South of Heaven with manic bursts of aggression. War Ensemble and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date. In fact, Seasons in the Abyss is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, Seasons doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions). Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life -- war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's Master of Puppets or Megadeth's Peace Sells...but Who's Buying, Seasons in the Abyss paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.

Twelve years after their 1992 studio record, Force Of Habit, Exodus released Tempo Of The Damned, a worthy comeback with crushing riff attacks, merciless drumming and distinctive vocal outbreaks. Strong and fresh, behold a real thrash hurricane, that continues just as if the band has never left the stage, respectively the studio.

Tom Hunting, Kirk Hammet and Gary Holt founded EXODUS in 1982, shortly after selecting an appropriate singer the band, Paul Baloff, who completed the line up perfectly and bringing the dream to fruition. Within the following year EXODUS gained huge attention in the international underground scene, evolving from an insiders' tip of the tape trading community to a highly popular act. Innovative song writing and explosive live shows made the difference, EXODUS brought Bay Area Thrash to the world and inspired many bands, among them METALLICA, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL and VIOLENCE (respectively MACHINE HEAD).

In 1983 Kirk Hammet left the band to join METALLICA, and was replaced by Rick Hunolt, and soon after Rob McKillop complimented the mix. The debut Bonded By Blood was released two years later and became a timeless thrash classic still appreciated today. A vast tour with SLAYER and VENOM preceded next thus the name EXODUS spread more and more.

Shortly before the second album Pleasures Of The Flesh showed up in 1987, Baloff left the band due to personal and musical differences and got replaced by Steve Zetro Souza (ex-LEGACY). The line-up and chemistry was working for the creativity and the subsequent success of the band. With the studio records like; Fabulous Disaster, Impact Is Imminent and Force Of Habit as well as the live album Good Friendly Violent Fun and the compilation Lessons In Violence EXODUS kept on improving their style and promoted their music with a large number of gigs including tours with PANTERA, ANTHRAX, MOTÖRHEAD, BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA, MEGADETH and many others.

1992 saw the split of EXODUS, affected by stress and personal problems. A short reunion happened 1996 (with their old singer Paul Baloff) with a tour through Europe and North America and the release of the second live record Another Lesson In Violence.

Another break took place until September 2001 when EXODUS attended the Thrash Of The Titans benefit show featuring LEGACY, ANTHRAX, S.O.D. and DEATH ANGEL. Afterwards the band started writing new material but got adjourned abruptly: Paul Baloff suffered a stroke on 2nd February 2002 and passed away. Back with Souza at the microphone EXODUS continued working and finally finished the recording sessions for the new, ultimate comeback album Tempo Of The Damned in 2003. The comeback of the decade - without any weaknesses or failures Tempo Of The Damned is the Bonded By Blood of the present time. Pure thrash as good as it gets!

With a career spanning 34 years, EXODUS has not only helped shape and define the thrash metal genre for over three decades, but they continually stretch and raise the genre's boundaries. One of the forefathers of the Bay Area scene, the band's 1985 debut album, Bonded By Blood, has since become a legendary album featuring mandatory live staples such as "Strike Of The Beast", "A Lesson In Violence", and the album's title track.

Formed in 1980, the band's original members included Tom Hunting on drums, Kirk Hammett (Metallica) & Tim Agnello on guitars and Carlton Melson on bass. With a line-up that has evolved throughout the years, the current incarnation of EXODUS charges into the future with returning frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza on vocals, Gary Holt and Lee Altus on guitars, Tom Hunting on drums, and Jack Gibson on bass.

In 2014, EXODUS closed the first half of the year with stellar performances at Kirk Hammett's Fear FestEvil and Rock On The Range, as well as a groundbreaking tour with fellow thrash legends Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies. To date, EXODUS has released nine studio albums, two live albums, and one compilation. Their most recent release, Exhibit B: The Human Condition, debuted within the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 2010.

Produced by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Megadeth, etc), the new Exodus record, "Blood In, Blood Out", will be released in 2014.
