Master Of Puppets'
Master Of PuppetsRanked 167/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
One of the defining albums of thrash metal, the 1986 album Master of Puppets is arguably Metallica's best as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton. Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. The striding Battery, the darkly lit Welcome Home (Sanitarium), as well as the complex instrumental, Orion, all gave powerful testament to the band's ever-developing skill and vision. An album with lengthly arrangements (three songs came in at over eight minutes) and an overall eight song onslaught that clocks in at over an hour was unheard of in metal at the time and it confirmed that Metallica was at a different level, a legendary one!1. ...And Justice For AllMetallica's 1988 release, ...And Justice For All was the thrash metal giants' commercial breakthrough. It was their first album to reach the Top 10 (#6), first to earn a Top 40 single (One) and first to win a Grammy Award (One). ...And Justice For All went platinum in 9 weeks and today is certified eight times platinum in the U.S. alone. The album was also the band's first without original bassist Cliff Burton who passed away in 1986 when the band's tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.1. Seasons In The AbyssAfter staking out new territory with the underrated South of Heaven, Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of Reign in Blood for their third major-label album, Seasons in the Abyss. Essentially, Seasons fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of South of Heaven with manic bursts of aggression. War Ensemble and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date. In fact, Seasons in the Abyss is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, Seasons doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions). Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life -- war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's Master of Puppets or Megadeth's Peace Sells...but Who's Buying, Seasons in the Abyss paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever.

The Puppet MasterAn underground icon and purveyor of all things dark and mysterious, KING DIAMOND and his cohorts continue to terrorize humanity with their latest and most extreme album to date, The Puppet Master. This gruesome tale set to take place in 18th century Budapest, Hungary involving a puppet show and many fascinating characters. One cold night in December the main character known as Unfortunate Man goes down to see a Christmas puppet show and after the show he is standing outside and sees a young woman. He is strangely drawn to this young woman, Victoria, almost as if one of the puppet's ghosts is sitting on his shoulder whispering in his ear to go and kiss the girl. The two get along immediately due to their fascination with the puppet show and end up going out. About a year later everything is going very good until one night Victoria heads down to the puppet show by herself and never returns. The Unfortunate Man goes down to the puppet show to investigate and sees the Puppet Master's wife leaving with a wheel barrel and follows her only to see her murder a homeless man and put his body in the cart. From here the story twists and turns as it takes you through the horrific tale of the Unfortunate Man, Victoria, The Puppet Master, his wife, the puppets and the events leading to the climactic end of the story.
As King describes it this album is going to make the hairs stand up on the back of listeners neck. The rules of censorship are being thrown out the window...this is going to be the rawest story/album we have ever done. King was also quick to point out that if you are into horror; you're definitely going to get it with this album! The Puppet Master is sure to be considered one of King's goriest and most extreme stories yet!1. Midnight

Hail DeathBlowing minds and eardrums since forming in 2007, BLACK ANVIL's third full-length album, aptly titled Hail Death, is their most epic and fully realized album to date. It's one of those rare releases that not only stays true to the band's roots but manages to transcend them in a way that works all of their seemingly disparate influences into an amalgam of heavy music that's as original as it is earth-shaking. The sonic fury was captured at Magpie Cage by J. Robbins of Jawbox, who, although best known for recording punk and post-hardcore acts, perfectly understood the band's creative vision. He's got a really good style of making records and I knew he would understand that we wanted to make this sound live and organic as opposed to tight and compressed, relays bassist/vocalist Paul Delaney, citing Kiss' Destroyer and Metallica's Master Of Puppets as inspiration. I wanted it to be a little more rock 'n' roll sounding because I felt the songs were a little bigger and structured. It tells a story from beginning to end and the recording reflects that. As such, the behemoth offering includes a bonus track: A BLACK ANVILed cover of Under The Rose from Kiss' iconic ninth studio recording, The Elder.
Hail Death wasn't an easy album to make and the band members' personal turmoil is reflected in every frenzied moment of the album. I went through a lot of stuff over the past year and it caused me to move and spend a year of my life in solitude, Delaney says, explaining that for twelve months he would sit in his room and pour all of his energy and inner chaos into these songs. This is our journey. I can honestly say that this is probably the most important thing I've ever done in my life, even if it never sees the light of day for some reason I'm insanely proud of it.1. Pleasure To KillRemastered Versions By Andy Pearce And Overseen By Mille Petrozza

Packed With Rare Photos And Memorabilia And Notes By Mille And Malcolm Dome (Metal Hammer) Talking About The Creation Of The Albums
Contains Kreator's Flag Of Hate EP
Pleasure To Kill, the second studio album by Kreator, was released in November 1986 originally by Noise Records. The lyrical themes follow those found on their first album. Unleashed in 1986 and still considered the band's first classic album, Pleasure to Kill raised the bar with more diversity of tempos and greater attention to technical execution while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. The band closed out the year with the Flag of Hate EP (named after a re-recorded version of their earliest hit) which is included on this version. Many death metal bands cite this album as an influence. Pleasure To Kill is widely considered a thrash classic. It is also considered a landmark album in the history of thrash metal along with Master of Puppets by Metallica, Reign In Blood by Slayer and Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, all released in 1986.
Formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, Kreator is arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery. Kreator has been referred to as one of the Big 4 of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres. The band has achieved worldwide sales of over two million units for combined sales of all their albums, making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. Kreator's style has changed several times over the years, from a Venom-inspired speed metal sound, later moving into thrash metal, and including a period of transitioning from thrash to industrial metal and gothic metal throughout the 1990s. In the early 2000s, Kreator returned to their classic thrash sound, which has continued to the present.LP 1

Stravinsky: Petrushka (Speakers Corner)
The highly controversial reactions of the public could hardly have inspired Stravinsky to believe that, of all his compositions, his early ballets would bring him world fame one day. But just how the composer set the story of the puppet Petrushka to music is doubtless one of the greatest achievements ever in ballet music. Petrushka's wild behaviour puts the orchestra's patience to a hard test. Eventually the ensemble takes its revenge with a vengeance and eventually causes the puppet to collapse.
DECCA is certainly to be congratulated for winning Ernest Ansermet for the present recording. No other conductor was granted the opportunity of following so closely all his life the creative process of this great composer. With its infallible perception of Stravinsky's compositional language, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande - long regarded by connoisseurs as one of the very best ensembles - admirably presents the varied colouring of the highly complex score, from the picturesque trills and slurs, to the lyrical, cantabile wind passages, and on to the unrelenting, hammering ostinati. Right from its very first release, the music and the performance have ensured that this recording has been dubbed "legendary".

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. The Shrovetide Fair

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music Studios And Pressed At R.T.I.
Elvis Aaron Presley was born during The Great Depression into a poor family in Mississippi. They moved to Memphis during
the early fifties, and as a struggling young truck driver, he cut some demos at Sun Studios as a gift for his beloved mother Gladys.
These initial songs, of which he had only paid a few dollars to record, would become the catalyst that would kick-start the beginnings of a soon to be worldwide superstar unlike the world has ever known.
The folks at RCA Victor knew that this young fellow named Elvis was destined for superstardom. They quickly bought out his
contract and signed the legend to a long term deal, forever etching "The King Of Rock And Roll" trademark to his name.
In 1965 after a plethora of chart topping albums and a bevy of number one singles, Elvis Presley continued to build his
marquee value even further while starring in a staggering amount of feature motion pictures. More incredible fame followed as
the Girl Happy movie starring Elvis Presley became a top box office smash. The 60's beach movie soundtrack album also was a
blockbuster as it rose to the top ten charts, making this his 22nd smash album in a row! Both the Girl Happy movie and soundtrack
LP truly proved once again that his career was unlike any other in music history.
Filled with more hits than a Ft. Lauderdale jukebox, the Girl Happy album takes off with several smashes in a row, including
the classic title track rocker Girl Happy featuring Scotty Moore's trail blazing guitar work and the chart hit single Do the Clam. More
soundtrack treasures follow with the beautiful hit single ballad Puppet on a String and the rockin' I've Got to Find My Baby, which
truly made the album a treasure trove of hits. The album also features the stellar rock blues of Cross My Heart and Hope to Die and

Heady Nuggs 20 Years After Clouds Taste Metallic 1994-1997Numbered, Limited Edition, 5 LP Box Set.
Clouds Taste Metallic, the band's seventh album, is considered one of The Lips' best and earned them much critical fanfare. All-Music called it a masterful collection that completesthe Flaming Lips' odyssey into the pop stratosphere and compared it to the Beach Boys' definitive album Pet Sounds. Released on September 19th, 1995, Clouds Taste Metallic is also the last Lips album to feature guitarist Ronald Jones.
Melodically, The Flaming Lips sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock, including unusual song and album titles-such as Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles, Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber) and Yeah, I Know It's a Drag... But Wastin' Pigs Is Still Radical.
They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne's signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the 50 Bands to See Before You Die.LP1 - Clouds Taste Metallic
