Dire Straits Expand Musical Framework And Come Into Own On Making Movies: Co-Produced By Jimmy Iovine, Thematic Album Soars With Personal Songwriting And Epic Arrangements

Cinematic Landscapes And Intricate Passages Sound Sublime: Mobile Fidelity 45RPM 2LP Pressing Of Making Movies Mastered From Original Master Tapes, Features Audiophile Dynamics

Bruce Springsteen Pianist Roy Bittan, Mark Knopfler's Guitar Playing, And Passionate Performances Turn Making Movies Into A Classic: Includes Romeo And Juliet, Tunnel Of Love, Solid Rock

Making Movies marks a magnificent turning point in Dire Straits' career. Considered by many fans to be the group's most complete album, the 1980 set witnesses leader Mark Knopfler greatly expanding his songwriting palette and setting his storytelling amidst more complex, involving arrangements. Dire Straits also benefits from crucial contributions from Bruce Springsteen pianist Roy Bittan and the departure of rhythm guitarist David Knopfler. The songs spark with a mÉlange of poetry, passion, and cohesion that engages the senses and begs to be experienced again and again.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP set of Making Movies breathes with reference-caliber airiness, spaciousness, dynamics, and separation. Produced by Jimmy Iovine and Knopfler, the record - which contains many Springsteen-esque elements - features the cleanliness and clarity that have long been Dire Straits trademarks. The extra-wide 45RPM grooves on this edition provide previously unattainable detail, information, and soundstaging. This is what audiophile recordings are all about.

You know you're in the presence of sonic greatness as soon as the first few seconds of the opening Tunnel of Love pass, as the introductory passage built on organ and piano - new additions to Dire Straits' palette - intertwine with the unmistakable coil-spring twang of Knopfler's guitar. The three-dimensional, full-bodied presentation of the latter instrument on this Mobile Fidelity LP is alone worth the price of admission. Crisp, rich, and balanced, the analog sound brings Knopfler's Fender Vibrolux and Music Man HD130 amplifiers into your room. The romanticism of Bittan's piano, precision timekeeping of drummer Pick Withers, and steady roll of bassist John Illsley come across with similar potency, scale, and verve.

Always more about the whole than the sum of their individual parts, Dire Straits demonstrate that while Knopfler is the lynchpin, this record is a true band effort. Bittan's role cannot be overstated. His melodicism poetically complements Knopfler's subtle staccato rhythms and more than makes up for the exit of David Knopfler. Expansive and cinematic, the aptly titled Making Movies puts a premium on interrelated subjects (love, relationships, heartbreak) and deep-seated emotions that play out in heartfelt lyrics, intense singing, and epic frameworks. Everything clicks.

The album's power isn't lost on Iovine, who later told Rolling Stone: The right people were in the room together. It really was making a record in the pure sense of the term. The whole thing sounds like one song. But you what that is? That's the writing, the guy who wrote it. He wrote the album like that; he wanted to make the album like that.

Indeed, the first five tracks - Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet, Skateaway, Expresso Love, Hand in Hand - comprise a mini-suite united by theme, harmony, and spirit. Every member of the newly configured Dire Straits has a say in the shaping of the material. There's not a note out of place. Iovine and Knopfler's standout production puts it over the top.

Phantogram's music sounds like it's made by a band from the city. Electronic loops, hip-hop beats, shoegaze, soul, and pop each find its way into their songs. Unexpectedly, the band doesn't live and work in a major urban center, but rather calls the town of Saratoga Springs, NY home. Despite the cultural influence of local Skidmore College (where fellow beat-experimenters Ratatat formed) Saratoga isn't exactly teeming with fans of J. Dilla, My Bloody Valentine or Serge Gainsbourg. Using various samplers, tapes, records, synths, drums, and both percussive and stringed instruments, Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel, the duo that make up Phantogram have allowed their natural surroundings and metropolitan influences to mix, resulting in brilliant, unusual recordings that are beautiful yet hard, dreamlike yet substantial, danceable yet smart.

    Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars

American music treasure Dwight Yoakam's special collaboration with leading bluegrass label Sugar Hill Records, Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars is set for release this fall. For the making of this album, Yoakam assembled a band of bluegrass luminaries to reinterpret favorites from his catalogue of gems. The 11-track album features Yoakam compositions from his extensive catalog.

This project was produced by nine-time Grammy winner Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton), Jon Randall (songwriter of Whiskey Lullaby") and Yoakam, recorded at both Southern Ground Studio (TN) and the legendary Capitol Records Studio B in Los Angeles and mixed by Chris Lord Alge. For the recording, the production team gathered together a world-class band of bluegrass's current greats including Grammy winner and nine-time international Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year Bryan Sutton on guitar, Grammy winner Stuart Duncan on fiddle and banjo, 14-time Grammy winner Barry Bales on bass, Adam Steffey on mandolin (Alison Krauss), and Scott Vestal on banjo (Sam Bush). The LP also features harmony vocals by Jonathan Clark, Brian Whelan, Davey Faragher and newcomer Bryan Joyce.

Chet Baker had a long and complicated relationship with Italy. It was a country where he was both imprisoned and adored. His first visit there took place in 1955, during his first successful European tour. It was during this tour that the quartet's pianist, the talented Dick Twardzik, tragically died in Paris from a heroin overdose. Baker was devastated, and following Twardzik's death - for which he felt some level of responsibility - the trumpeter submerged himself in the drug world and in a self-destructive spiral which would last for the rest of his life. Baker would stay in Europe for a number of months after Twardzik's death, playing with different local musicians.

Baker made his way back to New York in mid-1956 and wouldn't return to Italy until the 1959 trip that yielded the recordings included here. In fact, as Ezio Leoni (the musician in charge of the sessions) explained that Chet's trip to Milan took place in order to make two albums (one with strings and orchestra, the other with a small combo of Italian players). Baker was already an addict when the contract was signed, and before he could travel he was imprisoned in the States. Therefore, the sessions had to be postponed and shortly after this music was recorded Baker would be imprisoned again, this time in Italy. Prior to his Italian imprisonment he made the two albums expected of him and recorded some interesting tracks for movie soundtracks with different bands conducted by Piero Umiliani, which are presented on this LP. All of that music is also contained here, including a vocal version of "Arrivederci" which has been taken from the original movie itself and, for that reason, has some odd overdubbed dialogues in Italian.

    Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway

Barbra Streisand has no doubt left her mark on the entertainment industry rather it be musical, on the set of a movie production or on Broadway. She's had a career that has lasted for half a century and she's still not done at the age of 74. Streisand will release the new Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway in 2016.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway caters to her Broadway and Hollywood contributions and pairs Streisand with some of Hollywood's biggest stars such as Anne Hathaway, Daisy Ridley, Antonio Banderas, Hugh Jackman, Jamie Foxx and more to sing classic Broadway songs on the album.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway is Streisand's 35th studio album. Having a career that began in the early 60s on Broadway, Streisand is the only artist to have a No. 1 album in each of the last six decades, also making her one of the most successful artists in history.

To celebrate Clerks 20th anniversary the soundtrack will be pressed to vinyl for the first time ever! Clerks is the 1994 soundtrack album to the film of the same name. The original soundtrack's mix of dialogue from the movie (''I'm not even supposed to be here today!'') and tunes by some of the leading groups of the alternative era will now play out across three sides of two LPs - the final side will contain an etching. The soundtrack features songs by Alice in Chains, Girls Against Boys, the Jesus Lizard, Bad Religion, Soul Asylum, Corrosion of Conformity, Stabbing Westward and more. It also features songs by Love Among Freaks, friends of Smith's who visit the convenience store in the movie and who scored the original soundtrack for the movie.

Famously, the cost of licensing the songs on the soundtrack cost more than the film cost to make. The movie helped make Alice in Chains' 1992 Sap EP tune ''Got Me Wrong'' a hit, and the Kevin Smith-directed clip for Soul Asylum's ''Can't Even Tell,'' which closes out the movie, propelled it to Number 16 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.

Mondo is proud to present Jerry Goldsmith's score to Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece, Alien. An absolute essential soundtrack for not only fans of the franchise, but of the legendary composer, and of science fiction and horror cinema itself. There is no doubt Alien is a monumental achievement in movie making, it's tense, terrifying and pretty damn untouchable. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is an absolute masterclass in building tension and scaring the hell out of you within the film but it also is a beautifully orchestrated stand alone listen full of excitement that harks back to many of the rollicking adventure scores of the 40s & 50s.

    Music Score By Marco Beltrami

The Giver is a 2014 American 'social science fiction' film directed by Phillip Noyce, based on the 1993 novel of same name by Lois Lowry. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgård, Odeya Rush, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift.

The film, based on Lois Lowry's book, tells the story of a perfect world. Everyone here is happy. When Jonas is 18 years old, he's chosen to be the community's Receiver of Memories. He enters into training with an old man called The Giver. From the Giver, Jonas learns about pain, sadness, war, and all the unhappy truths of the ''real'' world. He quickly realizes that his community is fake. Confronted with this reality, Jonas faces difficult choices about his own life and his future.

The score for The Giver was composed by veteran and prolific American composer Marco Beltrami, who recently provided the score for films like Carrie. The orchestral score is featured prominently in the movie, and is what makes the movie so powerful

"Pimps whores pushers dopers gangsters and bottom of the human chain shit-heels. Now you're probably thinking I'm writing about major record companies and their unscrupulous executives and lawyers. You could be right but this time YOU'RE WRONG! I'm describing the characters in my album '13' Some I knew some I invented some are true some are false some I liked some I didn't. But they all had a story to tell and I told it none of 'em seem to care and I don't either have fun

    - Lee Hazlewood

"He took my voice off the album and put his voice on the album. Now don't forget these were in my keys, it was my charts, it was my everything. Lee Hazlewood was not even remotely going to be considered as an artist for this album and that's the way he wanted it."

    - Larry Marks

13 was never supposed to be a Lee Hazlewood album. It is perhaps the strangest record in one of the most varied discographies in music. The bombastic brass-heavy funk, deep blues and soul paired with Hazlewood's subterranean baritone would be best enjoyed with a tall Chivas in an off-strip seedy Vegas lounge. It also features one of Hazlewood's greatest lines ever "One week in San Francisco, existing on Nabisco, cookies and bad dreams, sad scenes and dodging paranoia."

By 1972 Lee Hazlewood had settled in his new homeland of Sweden. His days were spent carousing, making movies with Torbjörn Axelman and releasing albums. To keep up his prolific recorded output, Lee began to mine the recently defunct LHI Records archives for material. One such gem, was an unreleased album by Larry Marks.

In what became the final days of LHI, staff producer Larry Marks' sonic fingerprints were on nearly everything; songwriting, producing, arranging, and singing. His most profound contribution was steering the creative direction of the label towards soul and R&B, arranging the downright funky LHI singles by Barbara Randolph and Jon Christian. Larry's concept was to take Hazlewood's strongest compositions and arrange them in a soul vibe. An album was completed, but with no distribution in America and no funding, Lee had no vehicle to release Larry's record. The tapes were taken to Sweden, Larry's voice was wiped and Hazlewood's was dubbed .13 was born.

    25th Anniversary First-Time Vinyl Pressing

Country legend George Strait is releasing the Pure Country soundtrack on vinyl to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album. This limited-edition pressing is the first time that the soundtrack is being released in the vinyl format.

Pure Country, one of Strait's greatest successes, hit No. 1, eventually selling more than 6 million copies, in part due to its two No. 1 hit singles: "I Cross My Heart" and "Heartland." His song "When Did You Stop Loving Me" also reached No. 6 on charts.

In terms of the film itself, Pure Country opened at No. 6 the week of its release, earning $2,739,680 in its opening week, taking in over $15 million in total. In the film, Strait plays Wyatt "Dusty" Chandler, one of the biggest stars in country music, who becomes disillusioned with his success. Strait's character simply walks away from it all, returning to his hometown to get back in touch with his roots by working at a ranch.

Kelefa Sanneh writes in the New Yorker that Strait "was persuaded by the producer Jerry Weintraub, and by Colonel Tom Parker, the former manager of Elvis Presley After a concert in Las Vegas, Parker told Strait how important Hollywood had been to Presley. 'Elvis hated making those movies,' he said - but they transformed him from a pop star to an icon.'"

    Enola

When you're the main songwriter and driving force in a successful band, you often find yourself
creatively stifled. Your fans have certain expectations, and therefore you have an obligation to
deliver to them an album that meets their expectations, fits in their comfort zone, all while
growing and maturing as an artist. The problem with this is, true artists are capable of so much
more, music to them is an art, and the urge to create something new and exciting is something
that they can't suppress. Ace Enders found that success, both critically and commercially during
his tenure as the main songwriter of The Early November. The band went on to sell over 450,000
albums (3 of which sold over 100,000) And as much as Ace loved penning rock classics such as
Ever So Sweet and I Want To Hear You Sad, he wanted more, he wanted something different.
He wanted to be able to write songs that were more experimental, and creative. He wanted to
work in his own studio, on his own schedule and create songs that were truly important to him
and a pure reflection of who he was as an artist. These desires grew until they finally manifested
into I Can Make A Mess, Ace Enders' solo project.

I Can Make A Mess, isn't just a flash in the pan one off solo album. Over the past 9 years Ace
Enders has recorded 4 full length albums, he's had his songs in commercial movie trailers such as
Must Love Dogs and has toured the country with bands such as All American Rejects. His newest
masterpiece is titled Enola and it's set to come out June 11th 2013. The album is passionate,
and personal, experimental and honest, it's a must for fans of Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Animal
Collective and American Football. I Can Make A Mess will be appearing on the entire 2013 Vans
Warped Tour, and will continue to tour through the fall. If you're looking for great songs, that are
a little out of your comfort zone, look no further.

    The Great Wall Soundtrack

The Great Wall is an American-Chinese adventure film from director Zhang Yimou (Raise The Red Lantern). Starring Matt Damon, the movie follows an elite force of soldiers as they make a heroic stand atop the Great Wall of China against a horde of monsters that appear every sixty years. The score to The Great Wall was composed by Ramin Djawadi. Best known for his iconic scores to Game of Thrones and Iron Man, Djawadi has also provided the music for Warcraft, Pacific Rim and Westworld among countless other projects. His score to The Great Wall is sweeping and grand featuring rumbling drums, an army of strings and traditional Chinese chanting.

Released in 1988, Young Guns is an action-packed cult classic 80s western that tells the story of Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) and the Regulators (Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips, Dermot Mulroney and Casey Siemaszko) exacting revenge upon the Santa Fe Ring during the Lincoln County War in 1878. As good as the movie is, the score is what makes it great!

Composed by Anthony Marinelli & Brian Banks, the Young Guns score brilliantly embodies the off-kilter, emotionally unstable characteristics of Billy the Kid, both the man and the myth. It is epic and powerful, but equally haunting with an underlying melancholy tone.

The album is mastered from the original recordings and pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl for the enhanced listening pleasure of all you audiophiles out there!

    Glitter Glamour Atrocity

Sonically, it is radically different from anything else coming out of the New York underground at the time, and it set the template for the singular concoction of heavy psychedelic music, krautrock, and a worship of pure sound they have explored in different variations ever since. Throughout the album the band explores themes of greed, misinformation, war, hypocrisy and their outcomes within the world's political and economic systems, presenting these weighty topics with the same air of mystic understanding that underpins their music. Glitter Glamour Atrocity includes the song "Under Skin Or By Name," the longest running staple in the band's live set, which the band performed in the acclaimed film Only Lovers Left Alive at the request of director Jim Jarmusch. It is one of only two performances in the movie, which is enamored with the music making process and record collector culture.

    The Big To-Do

ATO Records is pleased to commence its relationship with the The Drive-By Truckers beginning with the incomparable rock band's label debut, The Big To-Do. The album is the band's 10th in their thirteen-year career and it features 13 new DBT tracks produced by their long time collaborator, David Barbe (Sugar, Bettye LaVette). Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley continue to handle chief songwriting duties here while bassist Shonna Tucker also contributes two originals. Brad Morgan (drums), John Neff (guitar/pedal steel), and Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) round out the current lineup.

The Big To-Do was recorded in three concentrated sessions during the first part of 2009: ten days in January, five days in March, ten days in May. That added up to 25 songs, a dozen of which sequenced into The Big To-Do. We had it mixed, mastered, and completely done, and Cooley wrote the best song that just needed to be on it, Patterson says with his raspy chuckle. This happens a lot with the Truckers, and it's always a good sign. So we went back in and recorded, mixed, and mastered 'Birthday Boy' pretty much in one fell swoop. Thirteen songs, then.
The balance of the remaining tracks, plus five more they've cut in the interim, will make up the Truckers' next album, which Patterson projects as a quieter affair.
This is, in large part, possible because the Truckers have such a long-standing relationship with David Barbe (ex-Sugar, etc.) and the Athens, GA, studio he calls Chase Park Transduction, which long ago Patterson helped to build so as to earn the right to record there.

It's gotten to where, that day of set-up time to get sounds and levels and all of that takes us about two hours, Patterson says. We can pretty much walk in the door, and we know exactly where to put everything to get that sound, so that's just one less thing to have to think about. I wanted to eliminate the distractions. That clarity of purpose translates into a delicious assortment of Trucker songs themed loosely around crime and (self-) punishment. The Wig He Made Her Wear, Patterson says, is both a true story (as seen on Court TV) and the closest he's come to making the movie he started out to make a decade or more back. The Fourth Night of My Drinking will speak for itself, and This Fucking Job (paired thematically with Cooley's wry Get Downtown) is arguably the most political song the Truckers have made since Living Bubba. Which leaves the deceptive, airy simplicity of Shonna Tucker's You Got Another and (It's Gonna Be) I Told You So to reckon with. We always knew she had that in her, Patterson says, delighted with the emergence of another strong songwriter in the band. It was never a secret. She was writing songs all along. But watching it come out has been a really amazing thing to behold.

Off the road, incidentally, didn't mean out of work. First off, there was the matter of cutting an instrumental album with the legendary Booker T, having previously served as the backing band to the equally legendary soul singer, Bettye Lavette. Potato Hole turned out all right, got a Grammy nod, and Neil Young added his touches separately even though it's pretty much a Truckers effort. But it's what they learned making Potato Hole that counts most. I think doing the Booker album really, really paid off a lot on the musical end of this record, even though stylistically it might not sound anything like that record, says Patterson, and then tells the story.

We made that record in four days, and that included the first day when it was, 'Booker, it's wonderful to meet you!' Maybe the third song we tracked just wasn't going the way he wanted it to go. We weren't quite understanding what he wanted. We were playing it right, but it wasn't right. All the sudden he just stopped the session. He gathered us around, and he told us a story about a Thanksgiving dinner, and the way it smelt in the house, he'd been on the road a long time, and they were all in - cousins and aunts he hadn't seen in several years. He said, 'It's just a day where nothing happens, but it's all really good.'

And we sat down and we played it, and we nailed it. It was like a revelation. We're a lyric-driven band, and our songs generally paint scenes and tell stories based on scenes. He instinctively knew that was how we operated. And I think it taught us a lot about how we operated. Going in and making this record, I could tell a real difference in the way the songs hold up musically. We put a little more care into that side of it than I think we ever did before because of what we learned from him.

...an absorbing hunk of smart, crunchy, guitar-driven music shot through with the bands vivid narratives, balanced storytelling, barroom punch, and Southern accents. Its a set that portrays desperate people trying to survive in these ever more desperate times, with the Truckers joyous pride and spirited attitude warding off any bitter aftertaste. Several songs are sad, and at times depressing, but the moods always point up. As it is for Bruce Springsteen, this blue-collar band not only believes in but preaches rock as salvation, and their iron-clad conviction suggests they wont have it any other way. --Bob Gendron, TONE Audio, Issue 27

A Newly Expanded And Remastered Edition In Celebration Of The Film's 25th Anniversary

2xLP Vinyl Package Containing Bonus CD Of Rarities And Unreleased Tracks

Newly Released Bonus CD Features Previously Unreleased Recordings By Chris Cornell, Mike Mccready, Mudhoney, And Paul Westerberg In Addition To Rarities Such As Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier

Includes Liner Notes And A Track-By-Track Description Of The Album's Music Written Especially For This Collection By Cameron Crowe, The Screenwriter And Director Of "Singles"

Epic Soundtrax and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking romantic comedy, "Singles," with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album.

The 2xLP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12 vinyl. The bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks is included as a special insert in the 2xLP 12 vinyl package.

The newly released bonus CD features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. The success of "Singles" helped establish a then-emerging new generation of rock artists-including 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden-as musical forces to be reckoned with.

The expanded edition of the "Singles" soundtrack includes, for the first time on CD, "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from "Singles" performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).

The new Epic Soundtrax/Legacy Recordings edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes liner notes-and a track-by-track description of the album's music-written for especially for this collection by Cameron Crowe, the screenwriter and director of "Singles." The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack is produced by Danny Bramson and Cameron Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York.

Set in Seattle at the beginning of the 1990s, Crowe's film featured music by relatively obscure (at that time) bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden, providing an introduction to an emerging grunge rock music scene for a welcoming mainstream audience. The film became a cult classic while the soundtrack achieved RIAA double platinum status in the US.

A romantic comedy capturing the zeitgeist of an era, "Singles" helped define the look, sound, attitude and style of Generation X with a fresh-faced ensemble cast featuring Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Matt Dillon, Bill Pullman, Sheila Kelly, Jim True-Frost, James LeGros, Ally Walker, Jeremy Piven, Eric Stoltz, Tim Burton and more.

Crowe's groundbreaking film chronicling the lives of Seattle's twentysomethings touched a nerve in the culture while the movie's best-selling soundtrack-with tracks from new artists and classic rockers-provided a critical overview of the roots of grunge and the essential contributions of Seattle rock. Alongside new songs like Alice In Chains' "Would?" and Pearl Jam's "Breath" and "State of Love and Trust" stood the Jimi Hendrix Experience's "May This Be Love" and a breathtaking cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore" performed by The Lovemongers (a musical side project created by Heart's Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson).

The first edition of the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack was originally released on June 30, 1992 and became a chart-topping best-seller three months prior to the theatrical release of the film. The soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene-including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden-while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements-contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."

"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting 'Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did - Viva Seattle!"

25 years ago, the film "Singles" and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary bands. The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever.

Unique Collaboration Between John Williams And Yo-yo Ma

Available On Vinyl For The First Time!

Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams is a 2002 album of John Williams compositions performed by Yo-Yo Ma and the Recording Arts Orchestra of Los Angeles.

For an instrument with such rich expressive powers, the cello has long suffered from a shortage of great concertos. Leave it to John Williams, the composer best known for his popular, emotionally charged scores to Star Wars, ET, and many other blockbuster movies, to ride to the rescue with a new Cello Concerto, an intense, expressive, and rhythmically vital offering tailor-made for Yo-Yo Ma's dexterous touch.

Like the composer's Violin Concerto, this one is imbued with impressionistic textures and colors, but there's also a hard-driving, modern edge. Call it 21st-century Ravel. Williams wrote the concerto with Ma in mind, and it's a test of even Ma's formidable technique. It also boasts powerful orchestral writing, especially for the percussion and brass.

Three other premieres are included on the album as well. The Elegy for Cello and Orchestra is a lyrical and atmospheric tone poem, with shades of FaurÉ at every turn of phrase. The expressionistic Three Pieces for Solo Cello, though, seem more akin to Benjamin Britten's solo cello suites in their abstract, concentrated intensity. Heartwood is another tender and sensitive reverie. It gradually builds in strength but ends as it began, with a whisper of tranquil serenity.

Ma's virtuosity is dazzling, and his engagement with the music is typically deep. He makes clear that Williams's music isn't just for the movies; indeed, with his new concerto, Williams has done the cello a great service.

Yo-Yo Ma Plays the Music of John Williams celebrates its 15th anniversary this year and is now finally available on vinyl for the first time. A 4-page booklet with an extensive story written by John Williams is included.

The Fate of the Furious (alternatively known as Fast & Furious 8 and Fast 8) is the eighth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise. The film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson. The Fate of the Furious follows Dominic Toretto, who has settled down with his wife Letty (Rodriguez), until cyberterrorist Cipher coerces him into working for her and turns him against his team, forcing them to find Dom and take down Cipher.

The film turned out to be a huge blockbuster and has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2017 and the eleventh highest-grossing film of all time.

The score is written and produced by Brian Tyler. Tyler is easily one of the busiest composers around today. He won Composer of the Year at the 2013 Cue Awards and was nominated for a 2014 BAFTA Award. In 2010, Tyler was inducted into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The first pressing of Fate Of The Furious is available on silver vinyl. This is a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies.

    Who you gonna call?

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today - Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world!

The music is composed by Hollywood's go-to composer for edgy comedic fare Theodore Shapiro. He has consistently delivered memorable music for some of the funniest movies of the past five years. Shapiro's careful touch has made him a sought-after collaborator for some of Hollywood's leading comedy directors: David Frankel (Prada, Marley), Stiller (Tropic Thunder), John Hamburg (I Love You, Man, Along Came Polly), Mike Judge (Idiocracy) and, most recently, Harold Ramis (Year One). Shapiro, 37, is a rarity in modern film music: a classically trained composer (bachelor's degree from Brown, master's from Juilliard) who, despite commissions for classical works (including a well-received piano concerto in 1999), decided he'd rather be working in film.

When Harry Met Sally... Soundtrack (On Sale)

    White Colored Vinyl

The soundtrack for one of the biggest Hollywood successes of the '80s, When Harry Met Sally... consists of standards performed by singer and pianist Harry Connick, Jr., with a big band and orchestra arranged by Marc Shaiman.

The soundtrack album (which stands apart from the movie) was a big hit and a major step forward for the young pianist-vocalist. Connick warmly sings such numbers as It Had to Be You, Our Love Is Here to Stay, But Not for Me, and Let's Call the Whole Thing Off, while usually accompanied by bassist Benjamin Wolfe, drummer Jeff Tain Watts, and a big band. Frank Wess' warm tenor makes a brief appearance on Our Love Is Here to Stay. In addition, there are a few melodic instrumentals, including some solo Connick piano on Winter Wonderland and Autumn in New York.

The performance of Connick on this wonderful soundtrack won him his first Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance. The soundtrack went to #1 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart and was within the top 50 on the Billboard 200. Connick also toured North America in support of this album. It went on to reach double-platinum status.

The Red Violin is the original soundtrack album of the 1999 film The Red Violin (original title: Le Violon Rouge), starring Carlo Cecchi, Sandra Oh and Samuel L. Jackson.

John Corigliano's score mirrors the intricate, mercurial quality of the film itself, as it traces the travels of a haunted violin from 17th century Italy to 20th century Montreal. The score is divided into five suites, one for each stage of the violin's creation and movement. From Italy to Vienna, Oxford to Shanghai and finally to Montreal, the violin makes an eerie musical journey.

Performed by solo violinist Joshua Bell and the Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Corigliano's The Red Violin is a fitting, haunting counterpart to the picture.

The album won the Academy Award for Best Original Score and was nominated for a Grammy Award: Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
