    Chicken N Beer

Chicken-n-Beer is the fourth studio album from Ludacris. Chicken-n-Beer is musically similar to Ludacris' previous work, with his use of a fast, highly versatile flow, although some of the songs take a more political overtone. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and achieved success outside the United States as well, charting in several European territories. Back For The First Time

    Lenticular Collector's Edition

Back for the First Time is the debut studio album from three-time Grammy winner Ludacris. The album has hard-hitting keys, snares and more than
enough boom for the beat junkies and plenty of lyrics for hip-hop purists. UGK, Foxy Brown, and Pastor Troy all stop by to lend a lyrical hand, but
Ludacris is the star on this record. He's got a lyrical style and charisma that transcends coastal allegiances. No gimmicks. Funny skits. Moving music.

In celebration of Def Jam's 30th Anniversaery UMe will be reissuing this classic debut album back on vinyl and giving the cover a 3D lenticular treatment.
A must have for any Hip-Hop fan.

The Red Light District is the fifth studio album from Def Jam recording artist Ludacris. The album was released on December 7, 2004 through Disturbing tha Peace and Def Jam Recordings, and was eventually certified double platinum by the RIAA. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart with 322,000 copies sold in its first week. The album's title refers to a district in Amsterdam where prostitution is common; red-light district. The CD is accompanied by a 41 minute DVD made by Decon of the Ludacris visiting the Red Light District, a Cannabis growroom, an adult 'cam-house' and the recording of the Red Light District CD/DVD promo concert in Amsterdam. This was the last album that saw Ludacris wearing his once signature cornrows. The album has sold over 2.1 million copies to date.

    The Takeoff (Discontinued) (On Sale)

The latest southern rap duo Playaz Circle made their debut in 2007 with Supply & Demand. Signed to the groundbreaking Disturbing tha Peace label, founded by multi-platinum and Grammy winning artist and actor Ludacris and Disturbing Tha Peace CEO Chaka Zulu, these Georgia boys continue to make noise with their current hit Stupid featuring OJ Da Juiceman from their sophomore album Flight 360: The Takeoff. We come from the era when hip-hop really had substance, Tity Boy says. We were students of artists like NWA, Too Short and Big Daddy Kane. We knew all of that music. Growing-up in the College Park section of Atlanta at a time when hometown groups like Goodie Mob and Outkast were pioneering a southern hip-hop sensibility, the Playaz Circle rap duo Tity Boy and Dolla were boyhood friends before either had ever busted a rhyme. Playaz Circle proves that there is little competition when it comes to being the hottest crew from the south. On our songs, we just strive to make timeless songs that make you feel good, says Tity Boy. There is no argument; Playaz Circle has achieved that goal.

    Lost & Found

The album is Smith's first to be released on Interscope Records after several releases with Columbia. It is also his first studio album since Born to Reign. Released in early 2005, the album features the hit single Switch. Guest artists on the album include Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and long-time partner DJ Jazzy Jeff. The title comes from how he felt he was lost since he's put rap primarily on hold to do films, and found because he's back again. The album cover features Smith with a street sign saying West Philly & Hollywood in reference to his Philadelphia roots and current Hollywood life as a superstar. The album is consistent in its critiques of the perceived state of hip hop, and the album has gained some notoriety because of a track entitled Mr. Nice Guy, in which he takes slight shots at those who have criticized him in the past, namely Wendy Williams, Larry Elder, and Eminem.

    Under Construction (Pre-Order)

Attention B-girls and boys: Missy Elliott is officially over it. Like her homegirl Mary J. Blige, the rap diva declares, no more drama. Time to get back to the essence. To that end, Under Construction bubbles over with a combination of ridiculously slamming beats and clever old-school references--not to mention a slew of guest stars. Based on the rhyme schematic from UTFO's Roxanne Roxanne and featuring Ms. Jade's tight-laced drawl, Funky Fresh Dressed draws on several classics, including the Beasties' Paul Revere. Missy croons and Jay-Z namedrops his way through the loose-limbed Back in the Day. Ludacris injects some new jack Southern flavor into the sinuous anti-hater's anthem, Gossip Folks. Work It features a catchy chorus and an absolutely insane Timbaland track.

As is to be expected, Aaliyah's presence looms large over the proceedings, especially on the classic Misdemeanor-style hip-hop and R&B hybrid, Nothing out There for Me. Missy's rap adlibs play second fiddle to the song's lush vocals, as BeyoncÉ fills the diva role previously occupied by the late, great Aaliyah. -Rebecca Levine

    Miss E...So Addictive (Pre-Order)

After a long winter of discontent, So Addictive finds Missy Elliott hoping to initiate hip-hop's summer of love. Miss E's third album is dosed with feel-good flavor and has more guests than the VIP section of the hippest hip-hop hot spot. Buddies Method Man and Redman bark across the bridge of Dog in Heat's canine funk. Jay-Z and Ludacris feature on two different versions of One Minute Man's scathing soul. Synths tweak and creak in rhythm as Missy unleashes a dreamy diss of those hopeless suitors who unload their cargo before they've sparked her ignition. Take Away features Pony man Ginuwine on a hypnotic slow-burner heavily reminiscent of Art of Noise's Moments in Love.

When left to her own devices, as she is on Lick Shots (which jangles like Django Reinhardt on downers), Missy comes on like Schooly D, a fearless, female gangsta licking shots against anyone who dares cross her. On Scream a.k.a. Itchin' she breaks into a soprano. A 4/4 stomp is stamped indelibly across the ecstasy-holler song 4 My People (featuring Eve). Overall, it feels as if producer Timbaland has muted his experimental leanings on this outing with his favorite muse in favor of submersible club tracks. Musically, the bhangra beat bop of Get Ur Freak On is the standout. The spiral timing of Whatcha Gon' Do, the fret-skipping Slap! Slap Slap! (featuring Da Brat), and the sunken, drunken funk of the not-so-subtle X-hex X-Tasy are tied at a close second. -Chris Campion

    Betty Davis

One can hardly imagine the genre-busting, culture-crossing musical magic of Outkast, Prince, Erykah Badu, Rick James, The Roots, or even the early Red Hot Chili Peppers without the influence of R&B pioneer Betty Davis. Her style of raw and revelatory punk-funk defies any notions that women can't be visionaries in the worlds of rock and pop. In recent years, rappers from Ice Cube to Talib Kweli to Ludacris have rhymed over her intensely strong but sensual music.

There is one testimonial about Betty Davis that is universal: she was a woman ahead of her time. In our contemporary moment, this may not be as self-evident as it was thirty years ago - we live in an age that's been profoundly changed by flamboyant flaunting of female sexuality: from Parlet to Madonna, Lil Kim to Kelis. Yet, back in 1973 when Betty Davis first showed up in her silver go-go boots, dazzling smile and towering Afro, who could you possibly have compared her to? Marva Whitney had the voice but not the independence. Labelle wouldn't get sexy with their "Lady Marmalade" for another year while Millie Jackson wasn't "Feelin' Bitchy" until 1977. Even Tina Turner, the most obvious predecessor to Betty's fierce style wasn't completely out of Ike's shadow until later in the decade.

Ms. Davis's unique story, still sadly mostly unknown, is unlike any other in popular music. Betty wrote the song "Uptown" for the Chambers Brothers before marrying Miles Davis in the late '60s, influencing him with psychedelic rock, and introducing him to Jimi Hendrix - personally inspiring the classic album 'Bitches Brew.'

But her songwriting ability was way ahead of its time as well. Betty not only wrote every song she ever recorded and produced every album after her first, but the young woman penned the tunes that got The Commodores signed to Motown. The Detroit label soon came calling, pitching a Motown songwriting deal, which Betty turned down. Motown wanted to own everything. Heading to the UK, Marc Bolan of T. Rex urged the creative dynamo to start writing for herself. A common thread throughout Betty's career would be her unbending Do-It-Yourself ethic, which made her quickly turn down anyone who didn't fit with the vision. She would eventually say no to Eric Clapton as her album producer, seeing him as too banal.

In 1973, Davis would finally kick off her cosmic career with an amazingly progressive hard funk and sweet soul self-titled debut. Davis showcased her fiercely unique talent and features such gems as "If I'm In Luck I Might Get Picked Up" and "Game Is My Middle Name." The album Betty Davis was recorded with Sly & The Family Stone's rhythm section, sharply produced by Sly Stone drummer Greg Errico, and featured backing vocals from Sylvester and the Pointer Sisters.

Easily the most hilarious entry into the Third Man catalog yet, this Green Series instructional record features Harvard graduate/occasional late night television host Conan O'Brien at his finest. The A-side is Conan's off-the-cuff reinterpretation of the story of Frankenstein's monster and provides a bucketful of belly-laughs. The flip finds Jack White getting involved in the fun and features, in no particular order: Conan's impersonation of the rapper Ludacris, his admission that he hates jokes and White's comical list of nicknames new/old/odd for O'Brien.

Folk-jazz composer/arranger Arthur Verocai was born in
Rio de Janeiro. He has created challenging arrangements
and compositions for Brazilian artists Jorge Ben, Ivan Lins,
Leny Andrade and Gal Costa. In 1972 Verocai recorded a
self-titled solo LP. It is a stunningly innovative effort. It puts Verocai into a rarified field with the heavy string oriented music of Charles Stepney, David Axelrod and Frank
Zappa. Released in a period marked by the Brazilian
military government, the album fared poorly. Following its
re-issue in 2003 the album has become a highly influential
oft sampled classic (see Ludacris, MF Doom and Little
Brother). The performance of this seminal 1972 record in
its entirety brought the capacity Luckmann crowd to a
stand still. According to Verocai, he had never played the
record, alive or dead! His delight at the opportunity to play this music 37 years later can be seen on the DVD. The
music has been mixed by Verocai himself in Rio. History turned on its head and musical justice served

Like their moniker suggests, the six-man hip-hop group known as Nappy Roots are raw and untamed, yet deeply connected to the musical past. The Kentucky-based collective (Big V, Ron Clutch, Fishscales, R. Prophet, B. Stille, and Skinny DeVille) first made a name for themselves with their two independently released collections - 1998's COUNTRY FRIED CESS and and 1999's NO COMB, NO BRUSH, NO FADE, NO PERM - as well as with live shows alongside such hip-hop stars as Digital Underground, Youngbloods, Jim Crowes, 112, Cashmoney Millionaire, 8 Ball, Ruffryders, MJG, Sole, and Twista. In addition, the group scored with their version of Riches To Rags (Mmmkay), which was featured on Atlantic's 1999 release, MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE MOTION PICTURE - SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT.

Now, with their long-awaited Atlantic Records debut, WATERMELON, CHICKEN, AND GRITZ, Nappy Roots are ready to spread their unique sound and vision from coast to coast. The group's organically funky hip-hop stylings blend serious lyrical science and Dirty South grooves, notably on tracks like the ruminating Life's A Risk and the block-rockin' party anthem, Ballin On A Budget. Produced by such esteemed hip-hop studio whizes as Carlos Broady (The Notorious B.I.G., Lil' Kim, Black Rob, India.Aire), Mike City (Sunshine Anderson, Bilal), the Trackboyz (Abyss), Jazze Pha (Ludacris, Too $hort), and Troy Johnson (Ray-J, Lil' Mo), WATERMELON, CHICKEN, AND GRITZ is likely to propel Nappy Roots to the forefront of modern hip-hop and beyond.
