Last November, Jack White's Third Man and John Fahey's Revenant issued The Rise & Fall of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-27), the first installment of the curious tale of America's most important record label. It was called spectacular (New York Times), unprecedented (Rolling Stone), breathtaking (Boing Boing), a cabinet of wonder, indeed (Pitchfork), and the most perfectly realized attempt to combine music and documentation (Fretboard Journal) and damnedest musical objet d'art (Nashville Scene) folks had ever seen.

Third Man-Revenant now presents the final volume in the Paramount story - The Rise & Fall of Paramount Records, Volume Two (1928-32).

As Volume Two begins, Paramount is entitled to a breather - in the previous 5 years it's been home to giants like King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Alberta Hunter, Blind Blake, Ethel Waters, Ma Rainey, Papa Charlie Jackson, Eubie Blake, Fletcher Henderson, Big Bill Broonzy, Roosevelt Sykes, James P. Johnson, Jaybird Coleman, Clarence Williams, and Fats Waller.

But just as it seems the label might be losing steam, it begins a second act that threatens to dwarf its first. In its final 5 year push from 1928-32, Paramount embarks on a furious run for the ages, birthing the entire genre of Mississippi Delta blues and issuing some of the most coveted recordings in the history of wax - a staggering playlist including Skip James, Charley Patton, Son House, Tommy Johnson, Blind Roosevelt Graves, Willie Brown, King Solomon Hill, Tampa Red, Georgia Tom Dorsey, Little Brother Montgomery, Lottie Kimbrough, Rube Lacy, Meade Lux Lewis, Buddy Boy Hawkins, Ramblin' Thomas, Jaydee Short, George Bullet Williams, Cow Cow Davenport, Clifford Gibson, Ishman Bracey, Charlie Spand, Jabo Williams, Louise Johnson, Blind Joe Taggart, Geeshie Wiley & Elvie Thomas, and The Mississippi Sheiks.

Paramount simply killed. But more than that, it changed how this country thought of itself. It was the first and most comprehensive chronicler of what America really sounded like in the 1920s and '30s - on its street corners, at its fish fries and country suppers, in its nightclubs and dance halls and showtents. In the process, Paramount - not some preservationist-minded enterprise like the Library of Congress - inadvertently created the most significant repository of this young nation's greatest art form.

6 LPs feature tracks from the collection.

USB Drive contains 800 digital tracks by 175 artists across the Paramount family of labels.

    Transparent Orange Colored Vinyl

Third studio album from Canadian electro rock sensation Lights.

When electro-rock sensation Lights first hit the music scene in 2008, she was just a songwriter with a synth and a dream.. Her name may have been pluralized but Lights Poxleitner was a one-woman show who played and programmed her own instruments and sang her own lyrics. This admirable self-reliance is rare in pop-in fact, Lights, signed a publishing deal at 16 and began writing songs for other artists-but after her 2008 selftitled debut EP (precocious enough to earn her a best new artist Juno) and gold-selling full-length follow-up THE LISTENING, Lights was ready to open herself up to collaborations on her unexpectedly experimental album SIBERIA. And by choosing such leftfield collaborators as live electronic outfit Holy Fuck and rising rapper Shad, she also opened up her sound.

    Little River Band

The Little River Band are considered to be among Australia's most significant bands, having sold over 30 million records. The soft rock harmony group released their self titled debut in 1975 and modelled after American bands such as The Eagles and Doobie Brothers.

Guitarist Graham Goble and singer Glenn Shorrock dominated the songwriting on this astonishingly strong debut that brings both the crunchy electric guitars, luminous acoustic guitar, and smooth harmonizing of It's A Long Way There as well as the hauntingly beautiful movie-within-a-song The Man in Black.

Lacquer Plating By Gary Salstrom And 200-Gram Vinyl Pressing By Quality Record Pressings

A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals!

Released just one month after the Surfer Girl album, Little Deuce Coupe was, incredibly, the Beach Boys' fourth album in less than a year. Brian Wilson and the band responded by turning in arguably their most consistent effort to date - and a concept album, to boot.

Little Deuce Coupe expanded the band's subject matter to encompass 1963 America's burgeoning love affair with hot rods, surrounding previously released cuts such as the title track, 409, and others with strong new material (much of it cowritten by Wilson and a DJ, Roger Christian). A highpoint: the a cappella James Dean tribute A Young Man Is Gone (a reworking of Bobby Troup's beautiful Their Hearts Were Full of Spring), a prime example of Wilson's arranging genius and the band's vocal prowess. Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring had been a standard for the vocal group The Four Freshmen, whose lush and distinctive jazz-based vocal arrangements had a huge influence on Brian's musical development.

Apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.

The stereo editions of Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down Vol. 2, All Summer Long, Beach Boys Christmas Album and Beach Boys Concert were all mixed in stereo by their own preferred engineer, Chuck Britz, ostensibly under the group's supervision.

Brian may or may not have been present for those mixing sessions - evidence suggests that he trusted Chuck's skills enough to let him prepare those mixes on his own - but the group held onto their multitrack tapes and delivered stereo masters to Capitol, rather than allowing Capitol to prepare their own stereo versions. Later, when Brian was only delivering mono masters, Capitol would prepare the Duophonic pseudo stereo editions for the stereo market, says Alan Boyd, producer and Beach Boys' archivist.

The Beach Boys' practice of double-tracking their vocals really lends itself to stereo mixes. Split left and right, as they are on a lot of those early stereo versions, those doubled vocal parts can really envelop the listener, surrounding them with Wilsons, Loves and Jardines!

All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.

To meet the standards of Analogue Productions, our Beach Boys album reissues had a mission to achieve: Present the band's music the way that Brian Wilson - famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger - intended. Mono mixes created under Wilson's supervision were how the surf rockin' California crew rose to fame! And we've got 'em!

For the early part of the Beach Boys career, all of their singles were mixed and mastered and released only in the mono format - they didn't release a single in stereo until 1968. In those days, hits were made on AM radio in mono. And the mono of those times worked well for Wilson, who suffers from partial deafness. Still, apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master.

Bottom line, the mono mixes were where Wilson paid intense attention, and the dedication paid off!

We've taken 10 of the most classic, best-sounding Beach Boy titles ever and restored them to their mono glory!

But there's no disputiing that the close harmonies and one-of-a-kind rhythms of hits like "Surfer Girl," "In My Room," "Little Deuce Coupe" and more lend themseleves naturally to stereo. So we've got your 2-channel needs covered with prime stereo mix versions as well.

Sarah Neufeld is a violinist and composer based in MontrÉal, Canada. Best known as a member of Arcade Fire, she is also a founding member of the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre and has performed and recorded with many other groups, including The Luyas, Esmerine and Little Scream.

Neufeld began developing pieces for solo violin in a more formal and focused sense in 2011, though she has made improvisation and solo composition part of her process and practice since first picking up the instrument at a young age. Neufeld counts Bela Bartok, Steve Reich, Iva Bittova and Arthur Russell among the formative influences for her solo work, in tandem with an ear for the textures and sensibilities of contemporary electro-acoustic, avant-folk and indie rock music.

Neufeld's debut solo album Hero Brother indeed channels all of the above, flowing through shifting atmospheres and oscillating between restrained, stately ambience, emotive Études, and raw kinetic energy. Small touches of wordless vocalisation, harmonium and piano supplant the violin in a few places. The album was recorded in Berlin by pianist and producer Nils Frahm, with Neufeld's performances captured in a number of locations with site-specific acoustics, including an abandoned geodesic dome, an underground parking garage, and the legendary Studio P4 orchestral recording hall at the broadcast complex of the former GDR.

    Brothers

W/ CD version of the album included.

The maturation of the Black Keys as record makers and performers has been both subtle and startling. With their 2008 Nonesuch release Attack & Release, the fifth album of their eight-year career which doubled the sales of their previous album and Nonesuch debut Magic Potion, guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney illustrated the durability of their few-frills sound, a mysterious and heavy brew of '70s-vintage rock, classic R&B and timeless, downhearted blues. Producer and pal Danger Mouse, their first outside collaborator, didn't try to reinvent their sound but further isolated its essence with the help of a few carefully chosen guest players and some retro-modern electronic gear. It didn't need to get slicker to get better, or, as the Boston Globe put it, Attack & Release proves that cleaning up the boys still won't stop them from tracking mud all over the house.

Danger Mouse returned to co-produce Tighten Up on Brothers, but for the most part, the duo was on its own, spending ten days at the legendary Muscle Shoals studio in Alabama and coming up with the an even more intensely focused, deeply soulful set that includes a cover of Jerry Butler's Never Gonna Give You Up. The performances are inventive and impassioned: Auerbach extends his vocal range to falsetto on lead-off track Everlasting Light and The Only One; Howlin' For You opens with a Gary Glitter-style drum riff and the chorus practically invites singing along. The tunes offer a surprising amount of lyrical candor and more than a little dark humor; the grooves alternate between ballsy swagger and bluesy rumination. The album reflects where Auerbach and Carney have been lately, most recently collaborating with a who's who of New York City MC's, including RZA, Q Tip, Mos Def and Raekwon on the 2009 BlakRocBlack Keys fan Damon Dash. They've also pursued projects on their own, Auerbach with his solo Keep It Hid album and tour, Carney with his band Drummer and its debut disc, Feels Good Together. Their maturation didn't happen just in the studio, though. Carney admits, Dan and I grew up a lot as individuals and musicians prior to making this album. Our relationship was tested in many ways but at the end of the day, we're brothers, and I think these songs reflect that. super-session organized by hip-hop impresario and

Brothers was primarily cut in Muscle Shoals, a setting that turned out to have more in common with the Akron, Ohio factories where the Black Keys used to record. The place was desolate, the town depressed, so once again the duo slipped into a world all its own. They did additional recording at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound System in Akron and The Bunker in Brooklyn. The album was mixed by engineer Tchad Blake, a veteran of sessions with Los Lobos, Pearl Jam and Peter Gabriel. Says Carney, The way he approaches mixing is the same way we approach making music. What Have You Done, My Brother

Like many gospel and R&B singers, Naomi Davis Shelton learned to sing at an early age in the church where she was baptized in Alabama. She began her professional career with a gig as the house singer at a little club called the Night Cap in Brooklyn, NY. It was there where she would meet the man who would become her producer, mentor, and friend for life.

Cliff Driver and his band were just off the road backing Baby Washington as part of the James Brown Revue, and had taken a job as the house band at the Night Cap. It would be a number of years before they would meet up again, but Cliff took an instant liking to Naomi's voice. I liked her cause she had a different type voice, a raspy sound like Mavis Staples.

In 1999, Cliff and Naomi were doing a club set with legendary James Brown bassist Fred Thomas at Flannery's in Manhattan, when then Desco Records label man Gabriel Roth approached them about doing a recording. Naomi and Cliff cut 41st Street Breakdown. The record made some noise on the then budding deep funk scene, getting heavy rotation at overseas funk parties.

Over the next few years, Roth formed and developed Daptone Records with partner and saxophonist Neal Sugarman. It took three sets of sessions over three years before Roth and Driver finally found the right combination of singers, songs, and musicians to cut Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens' full length. The final result, What Have You Done, My Brother?, is a testament to the singular sound of gospel and soul music.

    The Doobie Brothers

Celebrating 45 Years Of Their Debut Masterwork

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music & Capitol Mastering

Known for their ability of churning out hit songs, top charting albums and sell-out shows across the globe, The Doobie Brothers began their amazing four decade plus career in 1971 with the self-titled masterwork The Doobie Brothers. Initially a quartet featuring current founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, their debut showed early on how they had the skills to be in the forefront of making excellent sounding recordings.

For The Doobie Brothers Lp, they took their Bay Area soul and rock driven sounds to a devoted audience with their first chart hit singles like Nobody and Feelin' Down Farther. Produced by Ted Templeman, this album would go on to become one of the most important debut rock releases of the early seventies.

Fronted by the dual lead guitar force of Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons, the late Dave Shogren on bass, and the stellar drum expertise of John Hartman, The Doobie Brothers started their trek to the music charts as the LP went even deeper on album radio with even more powerful fare like Tom Johnston's delivery on the hypnotic Travelin' Man and Greenwood Creek, plus the gospel rock feel of Patrick Simmons' Growin' A Little Each Day.

Friday Music is honored to offer another installment in our ever popular Doobie Brothers 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series with their debut masterpiece The Doobie Brothers. Impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso (Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald/Boz Scaggs) from the original Warner Bros. tapes at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Mastering, The Doobie Brothers sounds incredibly earthy and rockin' as you remember it. As an added anniversary bonus, we are presenting the audiophile limited edition album in the original cover, with artwork elements not seen in years in the Lp format, further enhancing your Doobie Brothers listening experience.

    Brothers Of The 4x4

The king of Hellbilly, Mr. Hank3 himself, is pleased to announce a triple-threat of new releases. Hank3 will release a brand new DOUBLE country album, entitled Brothers of the 4x4, and a single punk album, entitled A Fiendish Threat, with his new project "3".

Recording in his own home and releasing music on his own label, the Megaforce distributed Hank3 Records, allowed Williams complete creative control during the four month period it took to make both records.

Besides living the songs subject matter first, Hank3 sang and played both guitar and drums on the records. As if pulling triple duty wasn't enough, he engineered, produced, mixed and mastered all the tunes as well. Not bad for someone who in his own words is dyslexic and has ADD, according to Hank3 "my mind is all over the place". But even a man talented and driven enough to do (count 'em) seven jobs at once has his limits, so Hank3 has once again assembled a top-notch ensemble of pickers and pluckers for Brothers Of The 4x4 and A Fiendish Threat.

The required stand-up bass holds the low end down at the deft hands of Zach Shedd, with David McElfresh and Billy Contreras whipping razor sharp bows across the fiddle. Daniel Mason handles banjo, with a special guest appearance on Possum In A Tree by former National Old-Time Banjo Champion Leroy Troy working his banjo in the old school clawhammer style, while Andy Gibson wrings the sweetest of notes out his stand up steel guitar. Finally, long-time collaborator and fellow multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Johnny Hiland rips his chicken pickin' guitar to feathers and shreds.

Hank3's latest country record is just that- country, and the realness of it shines throughout the record like moonlight hitting a mason jar of corn liquor- it ain't always the smoothest, and it doesn't come wrapped in a fancy package, but it's 100% pure whoop-ass in a bottle that gets the job done quicker and better and reminds you of where you originally came from once you figure out what just hit you. On Outdoor Plan he sings of fishing and hunting as a way of life, and it's a fact that more than one deer and turkey has met its maker at the end of Hank3's gun's barrel. The title track, Brothers of the 4x4 celebrates the wide open full throttle love of off roadin' and rootin' in a four wheel drive - the cover of the record shows Williams mud bogging in a custom 4x4, and it's not some redneck rental - that's his ride. And because life ain't always happy, when the heartbreak and hard times cracks through the sonic celebration on songs like Loners 4 Life and Ain't Broken Down, it's because Hank3 is well acquainted with the darker side of life, and not as some tourist. The album is a rich and gritty sounding mixture of sadness, pride, hope- in other words, it's a great country record.

With the release of Brothers of the 4x4 and A Fiendish Threat, Williams is ready to hit the road, and when he hits the road, he hits it much harder than most. Hank3 shows are legendary for their length and intensity, averaging three hours a night, starting with a country set and ending with whatever his latest musical experiment happens to be.

With these dual releases, Brothers Of The 4x4 and A Fiendish Threat added to his already huge and varied arsenal of music, Hank3 will be raising all sorts of hell on stage while the fans raise their glasses in the audience once again, and you can bet your last dollar a damn good time will be had by all. The man goes full throttle all the time, every time, as anyone who has ever been to one of his innumerable shows will attest.

Listen to Brothers of the 4x4 and A Fiendish Threat, go to a show, and find out for yourself. Just remember the next day, after a few aspirins, a dinner at your own table, and a sleep in your own bed, that Hank3 will be down the road doing his thing again, and for that rebel, "doing the best I can" means something a little different than it does for the average man.

The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers

Mastered from the Original Warner Bros. Tapes by Joe Reagoso

Don and Phil Everly are most certainly two of the most important figures in popular music history. Whether rock, pop, adult contemporary or country music, The Everly Brothers have consistently rose to the occasion with their successful harmonies, musicianship, and of course the knack to pick songs and write their own material which has made them legends in their own time.

Their legendary status has put them on world stages for over five decades and they have been honored and adored by both the fans and huge rock music icons like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Simon and Garfunkel. When the Everly Brothers joined the Warner Bros. label in the late '50s, their marquee value was just beginning to skyrocket. A long term lucrative deal, unprecedented at the time, afforded the boys the real opportunity to churn out hit after hit in record time.

While making a successful string of albums and hit singles, their greatest hits LP, simply titled The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers, showcased their star power in 1962. Filled with a dozen of their biggest hits like Cathys Clown, Thats Old Fashioned, Crying In The Rain, Ebony Eyes and their classic interpretation of Little Richards Lucille, the album itself was another home run for the duo. It rode the charts for months during its initial release and has been a consistent seller in various formats since the original album was discontinued decades ago!

Friday Music kicks off The Everly Brothers 180 Gram Audiophile Series with their greatest hits album The Golden Hits Of The Everly Brothers. This first time ever high grade audiophile vinyl release is mastered from the original Warner Bros. tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Records with Ron McMaster. It also includes the brilliant album cover photography of Michael Levin and the all of the great songs you remember including other major Top 40 smashes like Dont Blame Me, Walk Right Back and the masterful ballad So Sad.

To keep your rock and roll investment in mint shape, Friday Music has also enclosed a vinyl lined album sleeve to protect the music and a poly bag for the album cover to enhance your listening for years to come.

Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son

Damien is out of his goddamn mind.

This isn't a recent development, but it's an important aspect of his work that often goes ignored. In place of
this key element is the idea that his music is a sober and in-depth excavation of the American landscape and
rural psyche. Well, folks,I'm sorry, but it's not.

Damien Jurado is every character in every Damien Jurado song. He is the gun,the purple anteater, the paper
wings, the avalanche, the airshow disaster, Ohio, the ghost of his best friend's wife. It is a universe unto its
own, with it's own symbolism, creation myth, and liturgy. You might go as far as to call it a religion, and your
religion is a character in his religion.

Level with me. You're reading this because of Damien Jurado's new album,Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal
Son (produced by Richard Swift). You are a progressive minded, left-leaning person who in parlor-style
conversation regarding the globo-political ramifications of Sky Person relationships laughs knowingly so as
not to be judgmental and very reasonably concedes "Well, I don't believe He's some old man with a beard
sitting up in the clouds" at which point everyone agrees on [insert benign middle-ground] and moves on.

Consider this:What if the only way to understand a religion is to create your own?

Who is this Silver community? Where the hell are they in the Bible? Is this heresy? Agnostic reference? Isn't
this sun business a little, I don't know, animistic? Pagan? Go ahead and answer that question for yourself. I'll
    give you a second.

Do you understand the music any better?

You know that adage we all use so we have something to say while we shrug our shoulders? "People change"?
That one. Is that applicable to Jesus Christ? Maybe he's been on a personal journey of discovery since he
ascended. He went through the 60's, 70's,he turned on,tuned out, got disillusioned. Why can't we talk about
that Jesus? Does it have to be the old-timey one all the time? American folk Jesus, ugh. The one who's always
winning Best Soundtrack Oscars for people. Rarely do stories of faith make us identify with Jesus. It's
Abraham, Satan, Silver Timothy, Salome, Dr.J, Saul of Tarsus; divinely imperfect brothers and sisters who give
    Gawd something to do.

Damien Jurado made up his own Jesus because a Damien Jurado album needs a beautiful Jesus. Some freaky
space Jesus that I don't recognize. The name is the same, a lot of the imagery is the same, but he's reborn.
Born again,I mean. Yeah, as if Jesus got born again. That's what this album sounds like.

Jesus is out of his goddamn mind and I want to live in Damien's America.

    Sign me up.

After Adam Green's work with The Moldy Peaches was done, he recorded 6 solo albums, including his latest, Minor Love. Recorded with long time producer/friend Noah Georgeson in a luxurious pool house in Los Angeles, Minor Love found Green enlisting the talents of Rodrigo from Little Joy, his brother Joel, and Joe Steinbeck and Greg from Megapuss. The album showcases a tender side of the often arrogant and emotionally unavailable bully/singer, Green.

Three-time Grammy Award winner Lucinda Williams is set to release This Sweet Old World - a re-recording of her beloved 1992 album Sweet Old World - to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its release.

This Sweet Old World features updated interpretations of songs such as "Prove My Love", "Sidewalks of the City", "Memphis Pearl" and "Lines Around Your Eyes". Williams breathes new life into classics "Pineola", "Sweet Old World", "Something About What Happens When We Talk", "Little Angel, Little Brother" and Nick Drake's "Which Will". "He Never Got Enough Love" is transformed with additional verses, new sound and new title, "Drivin' Down A Dead End Street", which was the song's original title.

The arrangements on This Sweet Old World are tighter and rawer than the original and feature Williams' fantastic touring/studio band: guitarist Stuart Mathis, bassist David Sutton, and drummer Butch Norton. Guitarist Greg Leisz, who actually participated in the early sessions for the 1992 album, adds his masterful playing to the new recordings.

As if re-recording an entire studio album was not already an unprecedented move, Williams and company also chose to re-record the four tracks that were not included on the original release. This Sweet Old World features new versions of "Factory Blues", "Dark Side of Life", John Anderson's "Wild and Blue" and the John Leventhal/Jim Lauderdale-penned "What You Don't Know".

Folk-jazz composer/arranger Arthur Verocai was born in
Rio de Janeiro. He has created challenging arrangements
and compositions for Brazilian artists Jorge Ben, Ivan Lins,
Leny Andrade and Gal Costa. In 1972 Verocai recorded a
self-titled solo LP. It is a stunningly innovative effort. It puts Verocai into a rarified field with the heavy string oriented music of Charles Stepney, David Axelrod and Frank
Zappa. Released in a period marked by the Brazilian
military government, the album fared poorly. Following its
re-issue in 2003 the album has become a highly influential
oft sampled classic (see Ludacris, MF Doom and Little
Brother). The performance of this seminal 1972 record in
its entirety brought the capacity Luckmann crowd to a
stand still. According to Verocai, he had never played the
record, alive or dead! His delight at the opportunity to play this music 37 years later can be seen on the DVD. The
music has been mixed by Verocai himself in Rio. History turned on its head and musical justice served

    Time Is Up (Awaiting Repress)

Limited Edition, Hand Numbered Vinyl Pressing of the Band's Popular 2011 Album

The unexpected rebirth of vintage American thrash midway through the 2000s was a pleasant if short-lived surprise, once veteran fans and newbies alike realized there was precious little left to do with the hallowed old genre that hadn't already been done before, and better. Every last '80s thrash band of note and their snotty little brother reunited and released comeback albums of varying quality (heck, even Metallica finally broke down and returned to their roots, though for entirely different reasons), but only a handful of young 'uns released albums worth remembering, once the worshipful good vibes subsided, including California's Warbringer, Brazil's Violator, Virginia's Municipal Waste, and, now, Colorado's Havok. Already impressive on their 2009 debut effort, Burn, the Denver quartet really puts it all together on the 2011 sophomore Time Is Up, marrying the necessary old-school thrash hallmarks with enough fresh ideas and memorable hooks to keep boredom at bay on neck-snapping riff machines like Fatal Intervention, Scumbag in Disguise, and Out of My Way. It's also worth noting that slower tempos and heightened melodicism are not out of the question for the band, either, even if the experiments don't always work as well on some cuts (see the spotty Killing Tendencies) as others (the excellent D.O.A.). Ultimately, it would still be quite a stretch (OK, it would be an outright lie) to praise Havok for introducing any innovations with Time Is Up (but then that's not their goal), and one can never help but wonder whether the band's tight-as-f**k musicianship would have been possible before the advent of Pro-Tools, but this is still about as good as it gets for modern, moshing entertainment.

Leave your candy-colored cans in the toy chest and try a pair of proper headphones. Grado RS2e are hand-crafted from select Mahogany tone-woods, like a fine musical instrument. Our exclusive Series E curing process enhances the natural properties of the wood to produce rich, full-bodied vocals in a light-weight form factor. Put on Brian Eno's 'Another Green World', close you eyes and dream as if you'll live forever.

The RS2e is the little brother of the RS1e but is just as aesthetically pleasing, now utilizing our proprietary curing process that gives a new, lighter look. The RS2e has a 44mm driver and uses The e Series 8 conductor cable design. The hand-crafted mahogany utilizes new advanced damping treatments that help control and dissipate resonances. The RS2e still maintains an overall sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an ultra-smooth top end. These truly are an audiophiles dream.

... We not only felt every tremor and shudder of the gigantic plane, we heard even the most subtle details, such as the ice cubes rattling the passengers' plastic beverage cups. The combination of an engrossing film and an impressive set of headphones made it feel as though the RS-2s disappeared and the sound seemed to be coming from far outside the actual confines of the headphones.

The little brother of Xtension guarantees superlative vinyl performance in a more compact size!

Xtension 10 Evolution is ideal for all, who look for sound quality of standard Xtension in a more compact size below 48cm width, to fit standard audio racks. It incorporates all of our 20 years experience in turntable design. Xtension 10 chassis is made from MDF filled with metal sand, that gives high mass and is non-resonant. Magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 22kg total turntable mass. The result is a unique combination of 'mass loaded' and 'floating turntable' design principles.

Instead of the old standard adoption of pure metal used for the main platter, we've found a perfect alloy which we damped on the inner side with Sorbothane®. Additionally we've glued recycled Vinyl records to the top (which act as a perfect mat) and bake this 'sandwich' before precision balancing it. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter, that runs ultrasilently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension.

The Pro-Ject 10cc Evolution with its tonearm base also benefits from 'high-mass' technologies, and is isolated from the main board by a sheet of Sorbothane®. To use this tonearm with a wide range of top quality phono cartridges, from 4 to 14g. it comes with a set of 4 different Sorbothane®- damped counterweights. Xtension 10 Evolution comes with a beautiful dustcover with adjustable hinges, as well as in high gloss lacquer finishes: mahogany, piano and olive.

Optional SuperPack includes Sumiko BlackBird Cartridge at a significantly reduced price.

    The Sides And In Between

The Sides And In Between is the new album from Atlanta band Gringo Star, their first for Nevado Records.

If you know a little about brothers Nick and Peter Furgiuele's roots, it all makes sense. Our grandad started out in radio in the 40s and 50s in Columbus, GA., Nick explains. He was a huge promoter of R&B back when it was still super segregated, and he was playing black music and putting on shows with Little Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Sam Cooke & the Soul Stirrers, a lot of Gospel shows. So we grew up hearing all these stories, listening to all this music. Our grandfather was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame posthumously. And my grandma all her photo albums are like Jackie Wilson shirtless backstage, hanging out. Not to mention how Nick and Peter used to raid their parents record collections, cutting their teeth on the likes of Buddy Holly, The Animals and The Kinks. Our favorite music comes from the 50s, Peter says, and that music influenced all the 60s bands we like.

The band has toured relentlessly across the U.S. and Europe building a diehard underground following while sharing bills with everyone from Cat Power and Feist to The Black Angels and Weezer, and also touring with Wavves, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and fellow Atlantans The Black Lips.

    Waiting For Columbus (On Sale)

When you think about great live albums, several immediately come to mind. The Whos Live at Leeds. James Browns Live at the Apollo. The Allman Brothers Bands Live at Fillmore East. Kiss Alive! Nirvanas Unplugged. And, while it is sometimes unjustifiably forgotten, Little Feats Waiting for Columbus. The last essential album the rootsy California band made, it stands as the groups peak accomplishmenta staggering confluence of energetic performances, skilled improvisations, and thematic expansion.

Joined onstage by the Tower of Power horn section, Little Feat accentuates and remakes familiar arrangements, using the stage as a laboratory for unbridled creativity, New Orleans-spiced fun, and spontaneous interaction. Bursting with enthusiasm and excitement, Waiting for Columbus is truly a live album for the agesand one of a certain distinctive era.

The abundance of great music, the culture of drugs, and the politics of Richard Nixon, which had everyone polarized and created more of a sense of community, all contributed to this incredible feeling that somehow we were on a collective journey. Waiting for Columbus is one of the last parts of that journey, and among the last vestiges of that scene. Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne, as told to Bud Scoppa

Amazingly, the set came together under less-than-ideal conditions. In the months leading up to the seven 1977 Washington D.C. and London concerts that were taped for the record, leader Lowell George had removed himself from the bands affairs. The chemistry was fractured, but the shows functioned as a molding agent. And did Little Feat ever respond. With every member of the sextet playing like their life depended on it, and a guest appearance by ex-Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, this is a must-have set.

Powder Burns is the fourth Twilight Singers release from former Afghan Whigs singer Greg Dulli and it features guest appearances by Joseph Arthur, Ani DiFranco and old band-mate John Curley. Powder Burns strikes an immediate impression; songs like Theres Been An Accident, Underneath The Waves and Forty Dollars display Dullis song-writing perfectly; his lyrics, morose and uplifting in equal quantities, are complimented by his salient vocals. Dulli lets loose his spiralling tales of unyielding desires and personal regrets amid a wash of swirling guitars and string-driven orchestration. Beautifully arranged, the intricate production never gets the better of the songs themselves, always taking a back seat to the sentiment of the lyrics and Dullis swelling melodies. Recorded in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina and mixed there after the hurricane, the album was produced by Mike Napolitano (Blind Melon, The Neville Brothers, Joseph Arthur, The Autumn Defense).
