Classic Linda Ronstadt: Just One LookJust One Look: Classic Linda Ronstadt covers most of Ronstadt's career, beginning with the Stone Poneys' Different Drum and running into the late '90s, when she wrapped up her time with Elektra Records. This doesn't mean each era gets equal weight, however. Just One Look emphasizes her latter-day adult contemporary material over her cracking early country-rock, a trade-off that will likely satisfy listeners familiar with Ronstadt mainly through the radio. This does mean there are some terrific works left behind -- her big breakthrough You're No Good comes just six songs into this collection, so anything prior to that gets short shrift, but this settles into a good soft rock groove and should satisfy a listener who wants nothing but hits, and a lot of them at that.LP1

Living in the USA is a 1978 album by American singer/songwriter/producer, Linda Ronstadt. The album was Ronstadt's third No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and was the first album in history to ship Double Platinum. As a measure of her impact on popular culture in this time period, the front cover photograph of a roller skating Linda in a satin exercise outfit was noted to have increased the popularity of skating in the United States at the time.
It was Ronstadt's record sixth consecutive million-selling Platinum album. It was certified by the RIAA for 2 million copies sold in the US alone and has estimated real sales of 3 million US units sold.1. Back In The U.S.A.

One of the most successful albums of Linda Ronstadt's career, Simple Dreams spent five successive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart in late 1977, displacing Fleetwood Mac's Rumours at No. 1 after 29 record-breaking weeks in the pole position. It also knocked Elvis Presley out of No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart after The King held the gridlock for 15 consecutive weeks after his death in August. It won the Grammy Award for Best Recording Package (in addition to several other high profile Grammy nominations).
Simple Dreams was Ronstadt's fifth consecutive million-selling platinum album and sold more than 3½ million copies in less than a year in the United States alone - a record for a female artist. Simply put, Ronstadt just couldn't lose. Simple Dreams continued a creative streak that found the singer turning out album after album of incredible material at an astonishing one-per-year rate until she finally began to come back down to earth in the early 1980s.
Now hear Simple Dreams as never before. Remastered by the late, great Doug Sax at the Mastering Lab, together with Robert Hadley, and pressed on 45 RPM super-silent 200-gram vinyl by Quality Record Pressings, this revered recording truly is a sonic treasure. And it comes in a Stoughton Printing tip-on gatefold jacket with meticulously reproduced original artwork. Stunning.
Featuring an expanded palette of styles and cutting-edge narratives, Simple Dreams may go down in history as Ronstadt's greatest work. Greatest Hits (Red Vinyl)Red Colored Vinyl
Linda Ronstadt's appeal crossed so many genre lines it's impossible to categorize her as anything other than a gifted vocalist. She enjoyed success on country and rock charts alike with a voice that capably handled the requirements of both styles. There was a commanding roughness to her you-did-me-wrong classic, You're No Good, that mixed both soul and R&B stylings into her vocals. In a similar vein, she handled the Motown standard, Heat Wave, like a pro, this time giving it the slightest hint of a country twang. She even rose to the occasion of covering Buddy Holly's That'll Be the Day. Rondstadt had some of her best moments with material that had a more emotional element, regardless of genre. Love Is a Rose and Tracks of My Tears are good examples of the disparate styles she could navigate with equal aplomb. Greatest Hits doesn't chronicle Rondstadt's hits past the mid-1970s, but is still worth owning, not only for the songs themselves, but as a point of reference in her career. --Steve Gdula1. Hasten Down The WindMake Haste! Grab the Limited-Edition 180g LP of this Classic Now!
Did any musician have more talent at their beckon call during the 70s than Linda Ronstadt? Absolutely not. Part of her impeccable string of mid-1970s albums that defined California's soft-rock scene, the Grammy-winning Hasten Down the Wind is Ronstadt at her best and that's saying something. Consider the watertight repertoire: The Warren Zevon title track. Patsy Cline's (by way of Willie Nelson) 'Crazy.' Buddy Holly's 'That'll Be the Day.' Nelson's 'Down So Low.' Karla Bonoff's 'If He's Ever Near.' Ry Cooder's 'The Tattler.'
And then, there's the supporting cast, which includes Eagles legend Don Henley on drums and harmony vocals, folk-rock legend Peter Asher on guitar, session drumming master Russ Kunkel, and multi-instrumentalist sensation Andrew Gold playing just about everything with strings or skins. Couple this with the thematically revealing cover in a nod to the escapism of fantasy romance novels, the singer stands on a beach before an ocean and a running horse, her exposing dress a sign of the lovesick vulnerability that colors the songs and Hasten Down the Wind is the complete package of sensuality, passion, and poignancy.
Now, due to Mobile Fidelity's trademark sonic restoration, the album finally has the exquisite sound it has always deserved. Listeners can now literally feel Ronstadt's deep-seeded emotions. Even better, her covers of affecting ballads and midtempo country-rock numbers intentionally revolve around vocal-heavy arrangements. It's no wonder that the album, which topped the country charts, also yielded two Top 20 hits and resulted in the artist's first platinum-record award.
But make haste! Quantities are limited, and, unlike Ronstadt's timeless interpretations, this will not be around forever.

Heart Like A Wheel (Pre-Order)
Linda Ronstadt's 1974 Breakthrough Remains a Paragon of Extraordinary Performance, Arranging, and Songwriting: Heart Like a Wheel Features an All-Star Instrumental Cast and Singer at Her Best
Audiophile Clarity, Profound Depth, Lifelike Naturalism, and Transfixing Warmth: Numbered, Limited-Edition Mobile Fidelity 180g LP Meticulously Mastered for Supreme Sound
How to put the ageless appeal, artistic splendor, and imaginative instrumental variety of Linda Ronstadt's Heart Like a Wheel in proper perspective more than four decades after its original release? For starters, the 1974 landmark earned three major Grammy nominations and won for Best Country Vocal Performance - Female. But that feat pales in comparison to what the record did for Ronstadt, who became the decade's most in-demand, multifaceted, and cherished female singer soon after it captured the public's attention. Or the fact that it remains a paragon of songwriting, arrangement, and performance - a trifecta that still holds sway in this era or any. Mobile Fidelity's reissue puts it over the top to stay.
Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed on dead-quiet 180g vinyl at RTI, this LP reissue presents Heart Like a Wheel with astounding clarity, depth, and naturalism. Still the most difficult instrument to accurately capture, the female voice is here conveyed with transfixing realism, warmth, and feeling. The inner beauty of Ronstadt's flawless phrasing and passionate inflections bears out with obvious candor, her tonality and emotiveness pouring through every lyric and wordless expression.
Yet the advantages of this limited, numbered-edition audiophile version extend far beyond the intimacy afforded Ronstadt's singing. Specifically, the majesty of Peter Asher's crafty arrangements now come to life like never before. Free of the fatiguing high frequencies and flat, dull responsiveness inherent on previous remasters and the original Capitol issue, respectively, this 180g LP sets the sonic standard and lets the extraordinary instrumental blends blossom with openness, airiness, and organic textures.
While Ronstadt's interpretive skills and stunning vocals remain front and center, the all-star cast of California-based musicians that helped transform Heart Like a Wheel into a 1970s mainstream pop-rock staple - and a lasting example of the period's laid-back West Coast sound - cannot be forgotten. Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Emmylou Harris, Maria Muldaur, Herb Pedersen, David Lindley, J.D. Souther, and Andrew Gold are just a few of the luminaries that ensure the Billboard chart-topping set rests on an unassailable foundation. Asher puts everything in the right place and, in concert with the headliner, chooses a repertoire of standards that both shakes up traditions and pays homage to them.
The other secrets to the record's distinctiveness lie with Ronstadt's versatility and passion, her uncanny ability to inhabit every lyric with conviction and believability, and her graceful technique. As Stephen Holden stated in his rave review of the album for Rolling Stone in early 1975, No other pop singer so perfectly embodies the Western mythical girl/woman, heartbroken yet resilient and entirely feminine in the traditional sense. There is a throbbing edge to Ronstadt's honey-colored soprano that no other singer quite possesses - the edge between vulnerability and willfulness that I find totally, irresistibly sexy.
Ronstadt indeed proves seductive and inviting throughout, whether on the bluesy reading of Clint Ballad Jr.'s You're No Good, harmony-rich treatment of Hank Williams' I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You), folk-rock lilt of Lowell George's Willin', or soulful send-up of Phil Everly's When Will I Be Loved? Complete with piano, double bass, cello, viola, and fiddle, as well as support vocals from Muldaur, the cover of Anna McGarrigle's title track reinforces the one-of-a-kind expanse and all-for-one chemistry evident throughout the double-platinum effort - the kind of record they just don't make anymore.1. Linda Ronstadt was the leading female vocalist in rock 'n' roll when, sensing that it was time to change direction, she starred in the Broadway production of Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, as well as the accompanying movie.
Pirates of Penzance led the singer to a collaboration with bandleader/arranger Nelson Riddle, who arranged and conducted this 1983 collection of pop standards What's New. It was the first in a trilogy of 1980s albums Ronstadt recorded with Riddle. What's New was a considerable hit, reaching No. 3 on the charts, where it stayed for five consecutive weeks, and selling to date more than three million copies. Ronstadt's next two albums with Riddle followed - Lush Life in 1984) and For Sentimental Reasons in 1986 - also albums of pre-rock standards.
Let's just say that the vocals on this Analogue Productions reissue, mastered from the original analog tape by Doug Sax and Robert Hadley, have never sounded richer, with a broader soundstage, and more clarity and detail in the orchestral accompaniment. Such a sweet record, made even better with a Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket showcasing the vibrant original cover designed by John Kosh. Prisoner In DisguiseAfter the success of Heart Like A Wheel, Linda Ronstadt released Prisoner In Disguise in 1975, which further fortified her standing as one of America's most popular interpretive singers. The album yielded two strong singles, her beautiful renditions of the Motown classics Heat Wave and Tracks of My Tears. In addition the album included a banjo-strumming version of Neil Young's Love Is a Rose, a plaintive pop reading of Jimmy Cliff's reggae classic Many Rivers to Cross and a lovely cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You. On Prisoner In Disguise Ronstadt delivers another collection of well-crafted, carefully arranged rock, pop and country songs that wonderfully exemplify her fine talent and taste. Don't Cry NowAfter her breakthrough on Capitol Records with The Stone Poneys (Different Drum) plus some acclaimed solo releases, Linda Ronstadt jumped to David Geffens bourgeoning Asylum roster, joining The Eagles and Jackson Browne to form the genesis of the California Country-Rock sound.
Dont Cry Now, her first for Asylum was released in 1973 and would help solidify Ronstadt as one of the premiere female pop vocalists for the next two decades. This is one of the most exceptional sounding female vocalist recordings of the 1970's.
Various tracks were produced by John Boylan, J. D. Souther; and, for the first time in what would be a long and highly successful relationship, British musician (Peter & Gordon) Peter Asher. The album spent more than a year on the Billboard chart and peaked at No. 45. Featured hit singles are the Eagles' Desperado, Bonnie Raitts Love Has No Pride, Randy Newmans sly observation on slavery and southern culture Sail Away plus a nod to both Dusty Springfield and the Grand Ole Opry with Silver Threads and Golden Needles.
Guest appereances include guitar work by both the Eagles Glenn Frey and super-sessionman Larry Carlton, plus harmonica by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands Jimmy Fadden, bass and drums by L.A.A-teamers Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel respectively, plus last but certainly not least, the legendary Sneeky Pete adding his tasteful pedal steel throughout.

FM Original SoundtrackAppropriately, the soundtrack for the 1978 movie FM feels like a radio play list of the era, collecting songs from Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, Boz Scaggs, and other '70s radio staples. Steely Dan's title track, Queen's We Will Rock You, Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band's Night Moves, Billy Joel's Just The Way You Are, and Boston's More Than a Feeling are some of the highlights from this double-disc set, which also includes tracks from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Foreigner, and Linda Ronstadt, all of whom also appeared in the film. Though FM itself wasn't exactly a box-office smash, its soundtrack is a surprisingly durable and entertaining collection of classic rock that is arguably better than many of the '70s rock compilations available today.

Grievous AngelGram Parsons pioneered the concept of a rock band playing country music, playing in bands such as The Byrds, The International Submarine Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. His work has influenced both country and rock artists such as The Rolling Stones and Linda Ronstadt by blending the two genres to the point that they became indistinguishable from each other.
Compiled from 1973 studio sessions 'Grievous Angel' was originally released in 1974, four months after the songwriters death. JTTaylor's 1977 Columbia Debut Re-Established His Place As Leading Folk-Rock Troubadour
Half-Speed Mastered From the Original Analog Tapes: Sweet Baby James' Voice, Acoustic Guitar Never Warmer
All-Star Cast Assists Taylor In Exploring All Sides of Domestic Issues, Earning Triple-Platinum
James Taylors best-selling record since 1970s hallmark Sweet Baby James, 1977s JT takes its permanent place as one of the singers most enduring albums, an affair that gorges on country, blues, and rock styles and incisive songwriting. As the preeminent singer-songwriters Columbia debut, it catapulted him back into the limelight and reestablished his place as the eras leading-edge folk-rock troubadour.
Half-speed mastered from the original analog master tapes, Mobile Fidelitys numbered limited-edition 180g LP possesses a warmth, immediacy, and intimacy that surpasses that available on any of Taylors prior albums, Rhinos analog reissues included. The singers comforting voice, breath control, and enchanting guitar lines sound as if they pour right out of the studio control room, and the splendid array of backing instrumentation is balanced, vivid, and dynamic. Youve never heard Taylor this realistic, warm, or lively.
More than any other of his records, the triple-platinum JT features all sides of Taylors lyrical persona. Optimistic, content material fills half of the set while Taylor also reveals a darker, moodier identity on a number of songs that keep the 12-track set alternating between shade and light, shadow and sun. He turns romantic and blissful on the touching ballad There We Are, praises the power of love on Your Smiling Face, and enchants with the graceful Secret OLife.
In addition to the domestic bliss, Taylor also expresses surprise and cynicism on Honey Dont Leave L.A., delves into despair on Another Grey Morning, and invites sardonic tones on Bartenders Blues. The result is a complete picture of an extraordinary songwriter, and accurate sketches of the mixed emotions so many of us feel. Taylors ability to capture deep-seeded feelings, and set them to lyrical and musical poetry, explains why we relate to him on such a meta-level. Its also why his music, particularly JT, remains timeless.
Taylor doesnt do it all alone. JT benefits from an all-star support cast. Iconic singers Carly Simon and Linda Ronstadt supply background vocals, saxophone great David Sanborn plays the horn, Russ Kunkel mans the percussion, and legendary arranger David Campbell oversees the strings and woodwinds. Its no wonder why many fans consider this gorgeous collection of Laurel Canyon pop-rock Taylors finest.
Mobile Fidelity is honored to have given this easy listening late-70s gem the sonic restoration befitting its brilliant musical content. Whether youve never heard this record or know it inside and out, this 180g analog reissue will open your ears to previously hidden details ranging from pedal-steel guitar accents to honky-tonk tonalities that add to the overall enjoyment. Taylors funky rhythms, too, gain in stature, as does his meticulous command of pace and tempo. Bliss.

At Last (Awaiting Repress)Lauren White is an extremely talented 20-year old from Texas who has been studying under the same vocal coach as Norah Jones. Lauren blends the sensuality and vulnerability of Norah Jones with the vocal range of Linda Ronstadt combined with a voice that exhibits both emotional depth as well as nuance and delicacy!
Lauren's first album features a wide array of songs, the album opens with a Billie Holiday styled tune My One & Only, then drops to the darker overtones of the Anthony Wilson arranged Love For Sale, and transitions into a swinging Mack The Knife. This album also includes memorable covers of popular songs like Blue Bayou (Roy Orbison), Superstar (Carpenters), and to the country influenced, Why They Call It Falling (Lee Ann Womack). Lauren White also displays an impressive talent for song writing with three original songs here including a retro-ish Do You Remember, a heartbreaking ballad All I Do Is Cry and an up-tempo Brand New Love.
Featuring Anthony Wilson on guitar, Bill Cunliffe on piano and Ricky Woodward on sax, the album was recorded at Sunset Sound by Joe Harley (producer) and Mike Ross (engineer). The all analogue two inch 24-track masters were mixed down to 1/2 inch 30 ips stereo at LA-FX in Burbank, CA. These master tapes were then used in the mastering of both the LP and SACD and feature a stunning all analogue recording experience! Volume OneShe & Him is a story of musical serendipity: two artists, each renowned in their own creative fields, meet and recognize a certain shared nostalgia. The result is destined to be one of the musical highlights of the year.
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward first met to record a version of Richard and Linda Thompson's When I Get To The Border for a movie soundtrack. Immediately struck by one another's talents and finding an instant rapport Zooey let slip that she wrote her own songs which she recorded alone at home on her computer. Somewhat shy about anyone hearing these musical morsels she eventually sent the demos to Ward who was instantly impressed. They soon reconvened at his Portland studio to begin work.
Embracing the warm sound of early analog recordings, Volume One is more than just a showcase for Zooey's rich and endearing voice; it's a distinctive and endlessly charming album. The songs themselves give a respectful nod to the likes of Dusty Springfield, Linda Ronstadt and The Zombies while Ward's production gives them just the right amount of golden era sheen. Whether Zooey's channeling Ronnie Spector as on I Was Made For You or joining Ward in turning The Beatles I Should Have Known Better into a seductive hula guitar duet, the results are always captivating.
