    It's A Shame About Ray

After numerous line-up changes and independent releases, the Lemonheads signed to Atlantic Records for their 1990 release Lovey. It was with that record that Evan Dando began to move from Replacements style punk-pop into more gentle and jangly territory, and its here, on Its A Shame About Ray, that he perfected his vision and launched the Lemonheads into international stardom. Its A Shame About Ray is one of the hookiest and catchiest records of the alternative era and it has remained a true classic across all genres.

    It's A Shame About Ray

On It's a Shame About Ray (1992), songwriter Evan Dando and Juliana Hateld perfected their signature style of Punk- Pop-meets-Folk-Rock. The album is a beautiful collection of sunny melodies and hooks, delivered with typical nonchalance by Dando. A smorgasbord of immediately accessible and thoroughly catchy songs, his laid-back observations of middle-class outcasts are little gems in their own right.

Highlights are the heartbroken title track, "Confetti", "Bit Part In Your Life," the love letter to substances "My Drug Buddy," or the wonderful "Alison's Starting to Happen," where a girl nds herself as she discovers Punk Rock. His warm, friendly voice is offset by Juliana Hateld's girlish harmonies, giving the songs an emotional resonance.

    Hotel Sessions

Hotel Sessions is an intimate musical artifact documenting a Sunday night that Evan Dando spent recording songs with just an acoustic guitar (and some revealing commentary) in a hotel room in Bondi Beach, Australia almost 20 years ago. The yearning 14-song collection features raw versions of many tracks that would make up 1993's Come On Feel The Lemonheads including such Lemonheads' classics as Into Your Arms, Down About It and The Great Big No not to mention undiscovered material that never made it onto an official album until now.

The Sky (Or The Underground) (Discontinued) (On Sale)

Mean Creek's new release, The Sky (Or The Underground) is a valiant, dynamic effort to resurrect Boston's relevance back to a time when bands like the Pixies, the Lemonheads and Buffalo Tom reigned supreme. Recorded by Chris McLaughlin (Aberdeen City) at Chelsea Studios in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the album combines the gritty, blue collar-rock of bands like Echo & the Bunnymen and the Replacements with the boy/girl harmonies of Rilo Kiley and the New Pornographers.

    Local Losers

The four members of Mean Creek all grew up together in Massachusetts. Listening to similar sounds from the area, they come from a long tradition of Massachusetts bands who also embraced punk inspired rock music; Mission Of Burma, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., The Lemonheads- all of these bands left a lasting impact on the members of Mean Creek."Local Losers" is the latest offering from the band. Eight tracks that go by at break neck speed, played with the kind of desperation & force only a young, hungry rock band can bring; A true reflection of their energetic live show. These are songs about love, confusion, loneliness, and heartbreak. Throughout all of life's ups and downs, two things have always held true for these four, their music and friendship. It's the sounds, ideas, and emotions that they create when they are in a room together, and that is what this album is all about.

The impeccably named Scott & Charlene's Wedding are back with not so much a brand new album, as a generation's glimpse of love, home-sickness, basketball, alienation, rock and roll and all things that matter to an expatriate Aussie stranded in New York, released on Fire Records. Any Port In A Storm is fated to become your essential backdrop to the summer of 2013. The brainchild of the amiable and unashamedly charismatic Craig Dermody, Scott & Charlene's Wedding offer a sonically charged take on the Lemonheads' ramshackle melodicism and Pavement's lo-fi drawl.

    One Mo' 'Gen

One Mo' 'Gen is the second album by Southern rap group 95 South, released in 1995. It peaked at #158 on the Billboard 200 and contained the minor hit Rodeo which peaked at #77 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was produced mostly by the production duo of Jay Ski and C.C. Lemonhead, who also were members of the 69 Boyz and formed the Quad City DJ's. It didn't chart quite as well as the group's debut, Quad City Knock; however, it is described by Allmusic as an improvement on their debut, featuring more confident rapping and stronger, funkier backing tracks.
