On the new album, they promise to mesh the classic dual guitar attack of James 'Munky' Shaffer and Brian 'Head' Welch (returning for the first time since the band's 2003 album Take A Look In The Mirror), with an all new approach to the integration of electronics.

Korn is the eponymous debut studio album by the American Nu-Metal band Korn. It was released in 1994, right after the band toured with Biohazard and House of Pain. The album's themes mainly consisted of both drug and child abuse. Korn was well received by music critics. The band stormed the alternative scene virtually overnight, and is said to have established Nu-Metal.

Bands like Coal Chamber and Limp Bizkit were inspired by the album's rage, emphasising similar grooves and song structures, including some Hip Hop elements. Slipknot, Machine Head, and Sepultura were also inspired by the album. The album launched the career of record producer Ross Robinson, who later produced albums such as Three Dollar Bill, Yall by Limp Bizkit and Slipknot's rst two albums.

A little more than a year after release, the album went Gold in the United States. The album spawned 4 singles; "Blind", followed by "Need To", "Shoots and Ladders" and "Clown". The album has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide and was never before issued on vinyl.

While the press and critics jumped over the sounds of Korn, Rage Against the Machine, and Limp Bizkit, Incubus quietly toured in support of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., their first major-label LP. Incubus' hip-hop influences come from their DJ and bassist instead of their singer. Brandon Boyd's vocals hit every range from quiet whispers to funk-styled rants to hard rock screams. He also adds percussion with a bongo on a few songs (and in concert its a strange sight for such a heavy band). Boyd's demeanor in concert and record is laid back and free flowing. There's no anger surrounding his lyrics or his singing. New Skin adds a lot of funk to modern heavy metal while Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) is a spacy dance ballad. The numerous styles on the album don't always blend perfectly, but they create a solid sound that defines the band. Incubus also manages to make their songs upbeat and danceable as well as tunes to headbang to. An admirable feat in a genre that tends to reward decibel levels instead of quality.

KoRn: one of the best-selling Nu Metal bands on the planet. Of their 8 studio albums the first seven have been certified platinum. 'Issues' was their first album after their mainstream breakthrough with 'Follow The Leader'.

On 'Issues' the hip hop elements of 'Follow the Leader' were removed moving the band in a more alternative and industrial metal sound rather than the so-called nu metal.

Although 'Issues' was released during a week of many highly-anticipated records, it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 keeping Dr. Dre and Celine Dion from hitting #1. The first single from the album, Falling Away from Me, debuted on South Park in an episode titled Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery. The band was featured in cartoon form as Scooby Doo-style mystery solvers. After the 180 grams release of Life Is Peachy we now present Issues on heavy-weight vinyl!

KoRn are one of the best-selling Nu Metal bands on the planet. Of their 8 studio albums the first seven have been certified platinum. The demise of the band L.A.P.D. was the starting point for KoRn. The remaining members (Reginald 'Fieldy' Arvizu, James 'Munky' Shaffer, David Silveria and Brian 'Head' Welch) were looking for a new singer, found Jonathan Davis, and KoRn was born. The result was 1994's KoRn. The huge amount of time they spent touring paid up, assuring them of a fan base buying their future albums.

Their second album was 'Life Is Peachy' (1996), which reached No.3 on the Billboard charts and achieved platinum-selling status. 'Life is Peachy' continues right from where the debut had left off, but this time around, KoRn would bring some new, refreshing, and quite unexpected surprises to the table, such as in the playful 'A.D.I.D.A.S.' ('All Day I Dream About Sex').

With lyrics that reached out to many post-grunge teens after the suicide of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, backed up by a wall of heavy toned-down guitars and loud in your face hip-hop drumming, KoRn prepared themselves for a worldwide breakthrough that would happen soon after.

Take A Look In The Mirror is the sixth studio album by American Nu-Metal band Korn, released in 2003. It is the first album self-produced by the band. Korn explained that they wanted fans to hear the music as it should be. They returned to a more aggressive sound as featured on their earlier albums, with guitarists Brian Head Welch and James Munky Shaffer mostly utilizing thick, heavy distortion and the occasional clean tones for contrast. The album peaked at number 9 of the Billboard 200 album charts and was certified platinum.

The track Did My Time was previously released as a single for the movie Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The single debuted and peaked at number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Korn's first top-forty hit in the United States. Did My Time gave Korn another Grammy nomination in the Best Metal Performance category. The track Right Now was accompanied by a provocative cartoon video animated by Spike and Mike.

The album also contains a reworked and re-recorded version of the track Alive, which had previously only been released on the band's first demo, Neidermeyer's Mind. The track Play Me features rapper Nas, making Take A Look In The Mirror the first Korn album since Follow The Leader to feature such a collaboration. Jonathan Davis plays bagpipes on Let's Do This Now, marking the return of a tradition that has previous to the album, only been absent on Untouchables.

The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart

It was the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil that launched the ascent of their native sons in SEPULTURA (Portuguese for "grave") in 1983 with a trajectory unsuspectingly aimed at the worldwide metal music scene. A band with humble economic beginnings whose musical identity was forged in the context of living through Brazil's authoritarian military dictatorship, SEPULTURA would go on to become Brazilian ambassadors to the metal world, revered master architects of the death/thrash genre, and the most successful heavy metal band from the Federal Republic of Brazil.

When SEPULTURA experienced a line-up change in the mid-1990s that was widely covered by the metal press around the world, remaining members recruited American Derrick Green in 1997 to front the band, a position the Cleveland, Ohio native has held for the past fifteen years and counting. This past June, long-time guitarist Andreas Kisser (who joined in1987), original bassist Paulo Jr., and drum prodigy Eloy Casagrande, SEPULTURA entered the studio in Venice, California with renowned producer Ross Robinson (KORN, MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY) - who also worked on the band's landmark 1996 release, »Roots« - and co-producer Steve Evetts (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SYMPHONY X, INCANTATION) - who previously worked on SEPULTURA's »Roorback« (2003), the »Revolusongs« EP (2002), and »Nation« (2001) - to record the band's seventh studio album with Green (and their second album for Nuclear Blast): »The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart«, scheduled for release this October.

Inspired by Austrian filmmaker Fritz Lang's classic 1927 movie "Metropolis," SEPULTURA leans heavily on the strength of their thrash metal influences to make a statement against the dehumanizing effects of technology. Guitarist Andreas Kisser delves a little deeper:

"In the movie, a crazy millionaire wants to transform a robot into a real person. That's kind of the opposite of what we live today. More than ever, we are robotized through the worldwide web, Google glasses, chips under our skins and globalized slavery our society suffers nowadays. Being that the novel was written in the early 1920s, it's almost prophetical. The phrase that inspired me - the main message of the story - points to the heart as being the human factor that keeps a man a man - not a robot. The heart beats with freedom of choice. We have to think for ourselves to create a real world, not a matrix."

Exploring the miseries and privileges associated with technological power, »The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart« - SEPULTURA's angry dystopian documentary in sonic form - also addresses the chaotic aftermath of natural disasters, the unfulfilled promises of religion, and the still-widening divide & unbridgeable gap between pampered citizens who live in decadent luxury and the working poor who withstand unbearable living & working conditions to simply survive.

The album's opening track, 'Trauma Of War', begins as a cacophony of noise that gives rise to an urgent panic that spins into a paranoiac distress about others making decisions that will lead to our demise in war. In 'The Vatican', we listen as yearning souls pray to their god to alleviate their suffering as the furious vocals, guitars, and drums document the moment when the faithful come face-to-face with the reality of their absent god too self-absorbed with being adored to notice humanity's cries for help. 'The Bliss Of Ignorants' is an indictment by those who intimately know the depths of human suffering against those who don't wish to know. 'Grief' weeps with its gnosis of such a feared emotion. With so many recent natural disasters throughout the world, who could deny the truth behind human greed & corruption sung about in 'Manipulation Of Tragedy'?

With both the 2014 FIFA World Cup championship and the 2016 Olympic Games headed to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a worldwide audience will surely be mesmerized by the glamour surrounding these world-broadcasted events. But there are those who bear witness to what won't be televised; there are those who have seen the decades of daily strife of Brazilian citizens with wide-open eyes.

»The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart« never lacks confidence in what SEPULTURA knows: "I live in São Paulo, one of the big metropolises in the world with more than 20 million people living and working in it," asserts Kisser. "I know how it is to live in daily chaos. Our music reflects a lot of that feeling."

Featuring a guest appearance by former SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, »The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart« does what many great albums do: it captures a moment in time and carves out a place to have a dialogue with listeners with an honesty that rings so true, it becomes a part of our arsenal with which to defend ourselves against the wrongdoings of the world.

    Harvest Of Darkness

In a world where there so often seems to be nothing new under the sun, Wild Throne is doing their level best to challenge that belief. The manifestation of that effort is Harvest of Darkness, their debut full-length album, produced by Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot, At the Drive-In) and set release on Roadrunner Records.

    Meteora (On Sale)

Linkin Park's second studio effort (not counting the 2002 remix album Reanimation) overflows with glossy production values and Big Rock oomph, fully embracing the pop instincts of their Hybrid Theory debut. For many, Theory sounded inexcusably corporate, from its too-timely rap-rock sound to the long list of product endorsements included in the liner notes. Meteora will only amplify those complaints, but this album is actually truer to the band's nature. It's still impossible not to hear strains of Limp Bizkit, Korn, Rage Against the Machine, and the like. None of those acts, howeve, would try something as blatantly anthemic as Easier to Run, which would sound fine to a Def Leppard fan, or as borderline danceable as Breaking the Habit and Session. Linkin Park is what Trent Reznor was always afraid of becoming, but if you ever wished he would drop the pretenses and just make a hair-metal record, you'll find Meteora to your liking. - Matthew Cooke

(how to live) AS GHOSTS (Pre-Order)

Sometimes when band members reunite, it's as if no time has passed and nothing has changed. That couldn't be further from the truth for 10 Years. And, that's a good thing. When guitarist/drummer Brian Vodinh and guitarist Matt Wantland returned to the Knoxville, Tennessee alt-metal/post-grunge band for their eighth album and Mascot Records debut, (how to live) AS GHOSTS, they burst through their comfort zones to create something new. Something better. Something career-defining. The 8th release is the most dynamic and multi-dimensional record to date from Knoxville's alternative rock band. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Korn, Deftones, Mastodon, Alice In Chains).

    Mirror Man

The fifth studio album by Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band. It contains material which was recorded in 1967 for Buddah Records, and which was originally intended for release as part of an abandoned project entitled It Comes to You in a Plain Brown Wrapper. Much of the material from this project was subsequently re-recorded and released through a different label as Strictly Personal (1968). The tapes from the original sessions, however, remained under the care of Buddah, who took four of the unissued tunes and released them as Mirror Man in 1971. The record sleeve features an erroneous claim that it had been recorded one night in Los Angeles in 1965.
The album is dominated by three long, blues-rooted jams featuring uncharacteristically sparse lyrical accompaniment from Beefheart. A fourth tune, the eight-minute Kandy Korn, is an earlier version of a track that appears on Strictly Personal. In 1999, Buddha Records issued an expanded version of the album entitled The Mirror Man Sessions, which features five additional tracks taken from the abandoned tapes

The Return Of The Iconic Mirror Man Album!

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl & Smashed Mirror Die-Cut LP Gatefold Cover

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso From The Authorized Buddah Records Tapes

Captain Beefheart will be forever known as one of the first
originators of art rock, prog-rock and punk rock all rolled into
one. With his Howlin' Wolfesque growl and blazing harmonica
blues wailing, Don Van Vilet a/k/a/ Captain Beefheart truly
delivered the goods with his legendary Mirror Man album.
Originally recorded between 1965 and 1967, The Captain
and his Magic Band created some of the most masterful funk
and progressive rock ever waxed with this stellar session.

Consisting of lengthy jam packed champions like his classic
Tarotplane and 25th Century Quaker, Beefheart continues to
rock further with the international title track hit Mirror Man and
    the funkified rocker Kandy Korn.

Friday Music is very proud to announce the authorized 180
Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of Captain Beefheart's classic
Mirror Man. Mastered from the authorized Buddah Records

A Crow Left Of The Murder...

Double gatefold sets presented on 180-gram audiophile vinyl.

At the beginning of their career, Incubus was rightly lumped in with the legions of post-Korn alt metal/rap-rock bands swarming America in the latter days of the 20th century. But by their third album, 1999's Make Yourself, they had separated from the pack, as indicated by the presence of producer Scott Litt, best-known for his work with R.E.M. It signaled that the band was serious, and they began expanding their rap-metal template on that album and its follow-up, 2001's Morning View, completing their transition from juvenelia to maturity with 2003's Crow Left of the Murder. Switching from Litt to producer Brendan O'Brien, a man who has been with Pearl Jam longer than any of their drummers, Incubus has opted for a clean, crisp yet heavy sound which allows them to aggressively switch from crunching metallic riffs to jazzy prog interludes. It's an expansive musical vision charged with some righteous anger; although vocalist Brandon Boyd doesn't write explicit protests, there sure are enough allusions to social turbulence to make this the first politically aware alt metal album in many a year. This maturation is even more evident in the music, how the band actually swings on Zee Deveel, or how guitarist Michael Einzinger's jazz-influenced solos seem both carefully constructed and casually tossed off, or how Boyd's voice shifts from song to song (or during a song, as on the opening Megalomaniac, which sounds like a bizarre blend of Mr. Mister's Richard Page and John Lydon). All this maturation does mean that Incubus may shed some older fans, since the naked ambitions on this record are far removed from the earnest, angst-ridden earlier records, but so be it -- A Crow Left of the Murder... is far more interesting than any of their other records, or their peers'. At times, they may stretch themselves a little too far here, but the ambition is admirable and the achievements are tangible -- a real breakthrough for the band.
