    Dr. Octagonecologyst

Dr. Octagonecologyst is the debut solo album of American rapper Keith Thornton who is also known by his aliases as Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom, Black
Elvis, Dr. Ultra, Crazy Lou, Poppa Large and Kool Keith. Dr. Octagonecologyst introduces the character of Dr. Octagon, a homicidal, extraterrestrial, time-traveling gynecologist and surgeon. It's hard to exaggerate the role that Dr. Octagon played in revitalizing underground hip-hop. Dr. Octagon represented
the first truly new, genuine alternative to commercial hip-hop.

Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will continue its "Respect the Classics" tribute to many of hip-hop's finest with the vinyl reissue of Dr. Octagon's
underground classic Dr. Octagonecologyst on a trippy 3D lenticular cover that appears to suck you right into Dr. Octagon's crazy world.

Black Elvis / Lost In Space

Kool Keith is an American rapper from The Bronx known for his surreal, abstract and often profane or incomprehensible lyrics. Kool Keith has recorded prolifically both as a solo artist and in group collaborations. After being part of the legendary hip hop formation Ultramagnetic MC's he debuted in 1996 as a profound solo artist. He is generally considered to be one of hip-hop's most eccentric and unusual personalities.

By the big audience Kool Keith is mostly known as the voice of the number Smack My Bitch Up by the Prodigy, a fragment used without his consent.

Black Elvis/Lost in Space is the fourth studio album by mc Kool Keith, but recorded under the alias of Black Elvis. This is the first album performed under this alias.

Kool Keith uses very complex rhymes on various subject matters from Black Elvis' viewpoint on half of the album and on the other half elaborates on space travel and being lost in space. This is the first album for which Keith handled all of the production, although drum programming was done by Kutmasta Kurt and Marc Live.

    The Spirit Of Apollo

Where can you hear the sound of Kanye West and Santogold colliding? Or Tom Waits and Kool Keith? The story of N.A.S.A. (an acronym for North America/South America) goes back five and a half years when Squeak E. Clean (Sam Spiegel) and DJ Zegon (Ze Gonzales) met in Sao Paulo, Brazil and were instantly drawn together over their mutual love for rare Brazilian funk and soul records. They decided to share their experience and create a record that similarly brought people together from different musical genres, races, religions, politics, countries and languages. In order to fully-realize their mission the two created some of the most unique musical pairings ever recorded, all within the backdrop of Brazilian funk. The result is The Spirit of Apollo, connecting people as diverse as David Byrne and Chuck D, or Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Ol' Dirty Bastard, the latter two singing together on the late hip-hop starÆs last known recorded track. Includes a digital download card for entire album.

    The Fat Of The Land

Few albums were as eagerly anticipated as The Fat of the Land, the Prodigy's long-awaited follow-up to Music for the Jilted Generation. The Fat of the Land was touted as the album that would bring electronica/techno to a wide American audience; and indeed it went on to sell 2.8 million copies in the US. The Fat of the Land delivers exactly what anyone would expect: intense hip-hop-derived rhythms, imaginatively reconstructed samples, and meaningless shouted lyrics from Keith Flint and Maxim. Half of the album does sound quite similar to "Firestarter," especially when Flint is singing. Still, Liam Howlett is an inventive producer, and he can make songs like "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Serial Thrilla" kick with a visceral power, but he is at his best on the funky hip-hop of "Diesel Power" (which is driven by an excellent Kool Keith rap) and "Funky Shit," as wellas the mind-bending neo-psychedelia of "Narayan" (featuring guest vocals by Crispian Mills of Kula Shaker) and the bloodcurdling cover of L7's "Fuel My Fire," which features vocals by Republica's Saffron. All those guest vocalists mean something -- Howlett is at his best when he's writing for himself or others."Firestarter" and all of its rewrites capture the fire of the Prodigyat their peak, and the remaining songs have imagination that give the album weight. The Fat of the Land is damn good.

    Pay Close Attention: XL Recordings

XL Recordings is a collaborative endeavour, and many people have contributed to its evolution.

In the song "Out Of Space", Liam Howlett of The Prodigy provided a blueprint when he sampled Kool Keith of Ultramagnetic MC's rapping these
    words: "Pay Close Attention".

And whilst XL has never had any outside ownership, Gil Scott-Heron advised me not to even consider XL "independent"; because everything is
    connected.

This compilation is an attempt to illustrate some of these connections.

Part 1 is the roots of XL; underground music, made for DJ's. These roots
    are still growing.

Part 2 features some of the singular talents who have taken the label further
than we ever envisioned. There is no unifying genre, and I'll happily confess to aesthetic opportunism; hopefully the thread of originality is evident
    though.

We've never compromised. The rave music XL first became known for was
known as "hardcore"; that spirit continues.

To show our appreciation for your support: thank you DJ's.

And thank you also to the retailers, writers and of course, ravers.

    Peace Of Mind (Acoustic)

In early-2012, the Santa Barbara, CA-based band Rebelution released Peace of Mind through their own label 87 Music in partnership with Controlled Substance Sound Labs. Peace of Mind was released as a multi-length triple album which included the original Peace Of Mind album along with the Peace of Mind: Acoustic and Peace of Mind: Dub versions.

Marking the highest chart debut of Rebelution's career, Peace of Mind debuted at #13 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 Reggae and #1 Independent albums as well as #4 on the iTunes overall album chart. The band previously had four top 10 albums on the Reggae chart and their 2009 release Bright Side of Life debuted at #54 on the Top 200 and #1 Reggae.

Peace of Mind marks the first time Rebelution has expanded beyond their usual self-production enlisting producers Michael Goldwasser (Easy Star All-Stars), Amp Live (Zion-I), Yeti Beats (Kool Keith, George Clinton), Keith Armstrong and Errol Brown (Stephen, Ziggy, Damian, Bob Marley). The album builds upon the band's signature style while venturing into new musical genres from the lush strings incorporated into the gentle "Route Around" to the driving guitar and synths throughout "Lady In White."

Rebelution has developed into a front-runner for grassroots, independent and tour driven music groups. Originally formed in 2004, members Eric Rachmany (vocals/ guitar), Rory Carey (keyboards), Wesley Finley (drums), and Marley D. Williams (bass) met in college, while residing in Isla Vista, a popular beachside community in Santa Barbara. It was there that the seeds to Rebelution's future were planted creating inspiring and engaging music that would leave their listeners with the sense that they have the power to make this world a better place.

Each of the three versions of Peace Of Mind are now being offered individually on vinyl pressings with a digital download card. Here you have the dynamic 12-track acoustic version of the critically acclaimed masterpiece.

I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now

Got at Girl starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura - are thrilled to announce the release of I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now, on Bulk Recordings. The pair's enthralling debut album, sees Nakamura - whose innumerable, inimitable credits include influential production (Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon, Gorillaz) and membership in such visionary collaborations as Deltron 3030, Lovage, and Handsome Boy Modeling School - and Winstead - known for her work in the films Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, The Spectacular Now, and next seen in Kill the Messenger - sweetly detached vocal delivery and nuanced lyricism.

Winstead and Nakamura first crossed paths while both worked on 2010s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the actor acting and the musician contributing to the score. Winstead - who counts Lovage's Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By as "one of my favorite albums of all time" - approached Nakamura after a cast and crew dinner to let him know she was a big fan, assuming that would be that. "About a year later, Dan came up to me at the premiere and said, 'We should do something sometime,'" Winstead says. "I was like, okay! I would love to! I didn't think it was real."

Right from the jump, the two seemingly disparate artists found they were both surfing similar waves of inspiration. Each were especially enthused by the daft, dewy and even slightly degenerate sounds of 1960s French pop, that uniquely Gallic soufflÉ of girl group soul, cafÉ jazz, lush arrangements and groovy eroticism.

"It was a meeting of the minds," says Nakamura. "A kindred spirit kind of thing." He sent a skeletal track to Winstead, suggesting she begin thinking of songwriting in terms of character and story. For the nascent lyricist, the task came with no little pressure. Winstead and Nakamura soon commenced writing together, collaborating on lyrics as they learned more about each other's creative strengths and interests.

"I've had the fortune of working with a lot of very talented people," Nakamura says. "When it's right, it's right. That makes it work really easily. Working with Mary is like working with Del (The Funkee Homosapien) or working with Damon (Albarn) - it's really natural. It just works."

I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now is surprisingly seamless, a perfectly realized union of atmospheric ambience and ambitious songcraft. The Automator is of course a master of genre subversion and experimental futurism, effortlessly transmogrifying hip-hop, psychedelia, found sounds, and all manners of pop and world music with his singular taste for prolix wordplay, multiple personas and conceptual adventure. For Got A Girl, he has assembled a rich, enveloping sound world all its own, with hints of Laurel Canyon folk, yacht rock, and sunshine pop stylized and synthesized through sumptuous arrangements, intricate electronics, and unfettered melodic invention. The sonic landscape calls up far flung locales both real and imagined, knit together by restless grooves, elastic dubby beats, and Winstead's complex characterizations.
