    Ripcord

RIPCORD features a virtual who's who of creative collaborators for an album that Urban says was his most exhilarating album to make, both musically and creatively.

This album's journey began back in January, 2015 and took me to a lot of unexplored people and places. added Urban. The end result was the recording and exploring of more songs then I've ever done before and carving that down to what I felt constituted RIPCORD.

For the 13-track album, which has already produced his 19th and 20th No. 1 songs, Urban amassed an eclectic group of Grammy, CMA, ACM Award-winning writers and co-producers, who that have collectively worked with the likes of Adele, Jason Aldean, David Bowie, Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson, Brett Eldredge, Fun, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Madonna, Daft Punk, Pink and Taylor Swift.

They include new collaborations with Jeff Bhasker, busbee, Greg Wells and Nile Rodgers, as well as those who Urban has worked with before, including Shane McAnally, Ross Cooperman, Dann Huff and Nathan Chapman all of whom worked with Urban on his previous No. 1 album FUSE.

Getting to work with people like this was unlike anything I've envisioned before, said Urban. It's the result of writing, reaching, imagining, and following the muse every step of the way.

MCA Nashville recording artist Sam Hunt is soaring up the country charts with his lead single, Leave the Night On the lead track off his Oct. 27 major label album debut, MONTEVALLO, a ten-track album, all co-written by Hunt, and produced by Zach Crowell (Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban) and Shane McAnally (Luke Bryan, Kacey Musgraves).

This is such a personal album for me, explains Hunt. Each song holds truth and comes from my own life experiences. To get these songs out into the hands of the fans is both exciting and liberating.

While completing Montevallo Hunt has continued to gain momentum on the road and grow his fanbase. As a result of their enthusiasm, last month Hunt offered fans X2C, a four-song album preview including hit song Leave the Night On. The album teaser fueled the excitement surrounding Hunt and his upcoming project.

    Beginning Of Things

Beginning of Things, the new full-length album from acclaimed musician, songwriter, and performer Charlie Worsham, will be released via Warner Bros. Records / Warner Music Nashville.

Co-produced by Frank Liddell (Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, Aubrie Sellers) and Eric Masse (Rayland Baxter, Mikky Ekko) with Arturo Buenahora, Jr. (Eric Church, Dierks Bentley) serving as the Executive Producer, Beginning of Things includes 13 new songs, 9 of which Worsham co-wrote.

Of the album, Worsham comments, "We had so much fun! I had fallen out of love with music, and making this record put me back in love with it on a level I hadn't felt since I was a teenager. Beginning Of Things was a challenge in surrendering control and trusting my own talent. I'm confident that these songs and these recordings capture my musical geography and personal truth, and at the end of the day, I'm convinced that is the ultimate purpose of an artist-to speak one's truth."

Born and raised in Mississippi, Worsham attended Grenada High School and went on to study at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. In addition to his life as a working musician, Worsham is actively involved in music education and, last year founded the Follow Your Heart Scholarship Fund in partnership with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The fund supports the youth of Grenada, Mississippi-his hometown-who possess an uncommon talent and desire to achieve great things in the arts. In its first year, the organization has raised nearly $50,000. More information can be found at www.FollowYourHeartArts.org.

Beginning of Things is Worsham's second full-length album and follows 2013's Rubberband, which received widespread acclaim. American Songwriter calls Worsham, "the sort of triple threat artist that seems in short supply on Music Row these days. He writes well, sings well, and is a skilled and tasteful guitarist to boot," while Rolling Stone asserts, "A fleet-fingered guitarist and empathetic vocalist, his talent is reminiscent of a young Keith Urban in all the best ways."

Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me Soundtrack

Honored in 2012 with the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, Country Music Hall of Fame member Glen Campbell has recorded his last song.
I'm Not Gonna Miss You was written by Campbell and Julian Raymond specifically for a new documentary titled GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME. Produced by Raymond, the song was recorded in the Los Angeles-based Sunset Sound Factory and East West Recording Studios.

With a mere handful of piano chords, then a swell of harmonies, I m Not Gonna Miss You opens into the poignant, yet clear-eyed revelation of the things Alzheimer s steals. Almost lumbering through the melody, Campbell s weathered tenor confesses the painful truths of what is lost, the cost and the reality that it will all be lost to him, the man who can t remember. Pedal steel weeps, strings bathe the melody that rises against drums and an electric guitar that mirrors the unbreakable passage of life and time.

GLEN CAMPBELL: I LL BE ME is an epic human drama that intimately showcases the man and his music throughout Campbell s struggle with Alzheimer s. Chronicling the story of love, laughter, resilience and power of song, this film shows how against all odds, America s greatest country star would not give up. Directed and produced by James Keach (producer of Walk The Line) and produced by Trevor Albert (Groundhog Day).

Big Machine Records will proudly release a soundtrack for the film that also features The Band Perry, who previously paid tribute to Campbell during the 2012 GRAMMY Awards. The project also features Campbell s daughter Ashley who performs an original song.

We are so honored to not only release Glen Campbell s final recording, but to be associated with such a profound film that will help raise awareness of those suffering from Alzheimer s and spotlight the important role of those who care for them, remarked Big Machine Label Group President & CEO Scott Borchetta who serves as the project s Executive Producer with Keach.

Additionally, several of today s biggest musical stars appear in the film to pay tribute to the legend including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge (from U2), Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith, and The Band Perry.

    Sundown Heaven Town (Deluxe)

McGraw takes us back to that place with Sundown Heaven Town, his thirteenth studio album (and second release for Big Machine Records).

I picture a little town, like the one I grew up in, he says of the album's picturesque title. It's late in the afternoon. Sunset. Maybe some kids are playing baseball, and their family members are in the stands. You're at the point where the working week has given way to the weekend. That's my idea of sundown in heaven town.

Sundown Heaven Town pays tribute to those two decades, putting a new stamp on all of the sounds the revved-up country rockers, the nostalgic ballads, the down-home numbers that have made McGraw one of the best-selling country artists of the modern era.

From the banjo riff that kicks off the opening track, Overrated, to the digital percussion that pushes Lookin' for that Girl into pop-influence territory, Sundown Heaven Town mixes the old with the new, the rustic with the modern, the organic with the electric. It's a country record, in other words... with all the twists and turns we've come to expect from someone who's been at the top of the genre since 1994.

This album is very encompassing of everything that I've done in my career, McGraw explains. It's a good microcosm of what my 20 years in music has been. You can hear parts of my career throughout all these songs, as well as the future and where my music is headed.

Sundown Heaven Town also shines a light on the family, friends, and collaborators who've played roles in McGraw's career. His first cousin, Catherine Dunn, joins him on Diamonds Rings and Old Barstools, a classic-sounding country ballad about love on the rocks. His wife of 18 years, Faith Hill, lends her award-winning vocals to Meanwhile Back at Mama's, which doubles as the album's first chart-topper. Longtime friend Kid Rock makes an appearance, too, raising a rootsy ruckus on the bonus track Lincoln Continentals and Cadillacs.

I love being able to collaborate with great people, he says. To be in a place in your career where you can call up somebody like Keith Urban or Kid Rock and ask them to play or sing on a song with you, and they do it... How cool is that?

Several months before the album's release, McGraw launched the Sundown Heaven Town 2014 Tour, giving the singer a chance to perform some of the album's songs long before they hit stores. After spending countless summers on the road McGraw knew that his new songs deserved to be heard not only on the radio, or in a pair of fans' earbuds, but on stage. After all, there's an immediacy to Sundown's faster tunes, an anthemic vibe that owes just as much to the amphitheater as the honky tonk.

A family man and devoted husband, McGraw also shines a light on his softer side with tracks like Words are Medicine and Portland, Maine. He recorded his vocal parts for the latter song in just 10 minutes. The result is a wounded, wistful ballad, driven forward not by a drumbeat, but an acoustic guitar. McGraw may look larger than life while standing onstage... but when he sings about heartache, he sounds just as vulnerable as the rest of us. Maybe that's why he considers Portland, Maine one of the album's best songs, a difficult distinction to make on a record that spawned three hit singles before the album's release.

From start to finish, Sundown Heaven Town tips its cowboy hat to the traditions of country music, then tosses a some new ingredients into the mix. The result is a melting pot of everything Tim McGraw does best. It's a country album for 2014, anchored by a fondness for the genre and the desire to push it into uncharted territory. More than anything else, it's proof that artists can sound contemporary without chasing after current trends. After all, trends don't last but songs do. Especially songs like these.

    Super Fake Nice

Nearly twenty years since the formation of his Tennessee-based project, Self, Matt Mahaffey is releasing a new EP - Super Fake Nice.

The six-song collection will feature original tracks - "Gonna Rock," "Subconscious," "Hey Hipster," "Looks And Money," "Splitting Atoms" and the lead single "Runaway." Super Fake Nice was written, produced, recorded, performed and arranged by Matt Mahaffey at his Fresh Imperial studio in Franklin, Tennessee. This is the first new body of SElf material to be released since his 2005 album Porno, Mint, & Grime.

SElf is the brainchild of Matt Mahaffey, a multi-instrumentalist studio wizard. He began writing songs at the age of four and spent a large part of his high school and college upbringing mastering studio techniques. In 1995 he released his debut SElf album, Subliminal Plastic Motives followed by tours with Garbage, 311 and Cracker. An early review of the debut from People Magazine described Mahaffey as a "virtual one-man rhythm nation" and stated the album proves " that alternative rock can be more than atonal, angst-ridden prattle." Following Subliminal , came releases on Dreamworks and Spongebath including 1999's Breakfast With Girls and 2000's Gizmodgery (made completely with toy instruments).

Since then, Mahaffey further crafted his unique blend of funk, hip-hop and alt-pop and in the early 2000's his focus started to shift into film and television, scoring music for CSI Miami, Entourage and Weeds. He also started playing and producing for other artists including Beck, Pink, Liz Phair, Keith Urban, The Sounds, Lupe Fiacsco, HelloGoodbye and Tenacious D.

When Was The Last Time (Pre-Order)

On the heels of his eighth No. 1 Country single Darius Rucker has responded to fans' appeals for new music with an announcement letting them know they won't be waiting much longer for a new album from the 3-time GRAMMY winning star. When Was The Last Time, the long-awaited fifth studio country album on Capitol Records Nashville, has been set for release.

Earlier this week, Rucker spoke with Billboard about teaming up with esteemed Nashville producer Ross Copperman (Dierks Bentley, Brett Eldredge, Keith Urban) to bring his vision for the album to life.

"On top of being a genius with the equipment, Ross is so high-energy and funny; that kid is never not laughing." He added, "Every time we were in the studio we had a great band who had great ideas of their own, so it was the farthest thing from tedious, but just, let's get in and do it. I think for the whole record we spent just three days tracking music."

The album's release will be yet another signature moment in the multi-platinum career of one of music's most beloved figures.

    Where I've Been

"I think this is the best work we've ever done," explains JD & The Straight Shot founder and frontman Jim Dolan of the band's latest release, Where I've Been. "I'm so proud of the music that my band and I have put together. I believe in this album."

Produced by Joe Walsh, Where I've Been features several breakthrough singles including "Governor's Song," which challenges some of today's most well-known political figures; "Under That Hood," a transformative single that tells the tragic story of Trayvon Martin; and "Hard to Find," which will be featured in the highly-anticipated film, St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy.

Dolan's day gig is Cablevision Systems CEO and Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden, where he also oversees New York sports teams such as the Knicks and the Rangers. Music is his passion.

"I needed something in my life where I felt like I was actually creating," says Dolan. "Most of what I do as an executive is orchestrate. I don't actually set up cable and I don't really shoot hoops," he says, laughing. "Music is something I've played since I was a kid. It's me purely expressing myself."

JD & The Straight Shot's creative nucleus is Dolan and guitarist Marc Copely (B.B. King), who pen all the band's music and lyrics. Instrumentally indispensable is guitarist Aidan Dolan; keyboardist Brian Mitchell (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm); and drummer Joe Magistro (The Black Crowes). Also part of the band are some of pop music's finest session players, bassist Zev Katz (Aretha Franklin, Elton John), and violinist Erin Slaver (Rod Stewart, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride).

Dolan started JD & The Straight Shot in 2000. The band has recorded four previous albums: Midnight Run (2012), Can't Make Tears (2011), Right On Time (2008), and Nothing To Hide (2005) - as well as an EP, Daily News Blues (2010).

The band's style is steeped in the quiet fire of Americana, with distinctive elements of the blues and mystical, rustic, New Orleans-flavored roots music - topped off with a dash of the classic rock of Dolan's youth.

"I grew up on bands like the Allman Brothers," says Dolan. "We played those records until the grooves wore right off of them."

JD & The Straight Shot has been covered by The New York Times, Billboard, and New York Magazine, among other publications, and performed on "Good Day New York." Broken Into Better Shape

Broken Into Better Shape finds Good Old War pushing their musical boundaries to the limit. Road-weary from two years at sea, the trio (Keith Goodwin, Tim Arnold, Dan Schwartz) set out to write an album full of songs that were not limited to sounding perfect in a live experience. They bunkered down in Goodwin's toddler-toy-filled house and struggled for half a year to find what they were looking for. Around this time, drummer Tim Arnold left the band for Atlanta, where his fiancÉ was pregnant with their first child. Arnold's DNA remains in the band and his fingerprints are still present as a writer on some of the tracks on the record.

With half of the album's songs now written, Goodwin and Schwartz began experimenting with other writers and producers. In New York City, they dreamed up the ultra-inspirational "Fly Away" with writer Emile Haynie (fun., Bruno Mars). A trip to Los Angeles found them improbably paired in a writing session with Zimbabwe-born urban producer T-Collar, where a hook was crafted that the band were eager to take to the studio. It would become their first single, "Tell Me What You Want From Me."

Broken Into Better Shape became the record that it is in Nashville, where the band wrote and rounded out songs with producer Jason Lehning (Alison Krause & Union Station, Mat Kearney, Dolly Parton) and with the aid of a terrific group of musicians and writers. Whereas much of the band's earlier work had been written individually, this album would end up being a grand collaboration.

The result is the band's proudest moment, an album of lush, well-crafted songs with no filler, ten songs whittled down from a pool of over forty.

    Poison (Out Of Stock)

In 1988 KRS One made the poignant declaration of never trusting a "big butt and a smile" on Boogie Down Productions song "Jimmy". Truer words have never been spoken. Fast forward 2 years later, Bell Biv DeVoe are smashing the charts (Urban to Pop) with their debut single "Poison", and in taking KRS's words of wisdom the exact phrase - "never
trusting a big butt and a smile" has a major part of the chorus. The world over was singing it. Where once Hip Hop was borrowing from R&B, here the tables were turned, and for good reason : Bell Biv DeVoe weren't making your typical New Jack Swing of the
day, the music sounded closer to a Public Enemy or Ice Cube album. This wasn't your parent's R&B.

With help from Public Enemy producers Eric Sadler, Hank and Keith Shocklee, and several others, Bell Biv Devoe had crafted their debut album Poison which went number 1 on Billboard's R&B/HipHop chart. Poison also spawned other significant hits which
include the title track, "Do Me", B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)? When Will I See You Smile Again? and She's Dope". The success this album had on R&B and Pop Culture was unimaginable. By this point other R&B artists tried their best at emulating the sound,
style and (hate to say it) 'swagger' of BBD, but by then it was too late. What BBD was doing is not something many (even their former bandmates) could easily duplicate. And now listening to this album 23 years later it sounds just as fresh and exciting as it did the day it dropped.
