One of the most stunning debuts in rock history, and one of the definitive albums of the psychedelic era. On Are You Experienced?, Jimi Hendrix synthesized various elements of the cutting edge of 1967 rock into music that sounded both futuristic and rooted in the best traditions of rock, blues, pop, and soul. It was his mind-boggling guitar work, of course, that got most of the ink, building upon the experiments of British innovators like Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend to chart new sonic territories in feedback, distortion, and sheer volume. It wouldn't have meant much, however, without his excellent material, whether psychedelic frenzy (Foxey Lady, Manic Depression, Purple Haze), instrumental freak-out jams (Third Stone from the Sun), blues (Hey Joe), or tender, poetic compositions (The Wind Cries Mary) that demonstrated the breadth of his songwriting talents. Not to be underestimated were the contributions of drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding, who gave the music a rhythmic pulse that fused parts of rock and improvised jazz. Many of these songs are among Hendrix's very finest; it may be true that he would continue to develop at a rapid pace throughout the rest of his brief career, but he would never surpass his first LP in terms of consistently high quality.

Set Joins Exquisitely Remastered Versions of Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, and the previously unreleased Valleys of Neptune!
The great manifesto of the psychedelic rock era, the Jimi Hendrix Experience's Electric Ladyland is the culmination of resounding experimentation and several years of band chemistry, as well as Hendrix's continual development as a guitarist seemingly capable of anything and limited only by what he couldn't think of doing. As the trio's final studio recording together, it's also the band's most adventurous, and collaborative, as Steve Winwood, Al Kooper, Buddy Miles, Jack Casady, and Chris Wood all make guest apprarances. Featuring everything from sensitive wah-wah playing (Burning of the Midnight Lamp) to the all-time best version of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower, with Hendrix infusing the song with requisite mystery and mayhem, to the magnetic riff passages of Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Electric Ladyland remains one of the most fully realized and referenced recordings in history. And until now, it's never received the sonic facelift it's not only needed, but deserved.
Mastered from the original analog tapes, cut by legendary engineer George Marino on upgraded equipment at Sterling Sound, and pressed on 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI, this 2LP set is a sonic knockout on par with the very best audiophile recordings. This is also the first-ever audiophile edition of Electric Ladyland. We guarantee it will absolutely blow away whatever analog or digital version you've heard before. It's no wonder that this release spearheads Legacy Recordings' unprecented 2010 Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project of reissues and new releases from the greatest guitar player in history.
Ranked by Rolling Stone as the 54th greatest album ever made, Electric Ladyland epitomizes the passion, soulfulness, exoticism, and emotion that makes music such a part of our life. You will not want to live without.1. And The Gods Made Love

Winterland (Box Set)Hendrix's Most Storied Live Three-Night Stand Comes to Brilliant Life on Stellar, Audiophile-Quality Box Set
Features Tons of Performances Not Available on Any Other Release
Six 1968 Concerts from San Francisco's Historic Venue Reshaped Rock and Roll: Here Are the Highlights
8LP Edition Annihilates All Previous Winterland Compilations: Tremendous Sonics and Insight
Also Includes 36-Page Book and Rare Backstage Interview With Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix's Woodstock performance may be his most famous, but the guitarist named by Rolling Stone as the best in history was never better than at a three-night stand in San Francisco, putting on a total of six concerts that fans have long clamored to hear. Featuring the creme de la creme of said performances, now everyone finally gets their wish.
Winterland is drawn from said six stellar shows recorded over three days (October 10, 11 and 12, 1968) at San Francisco's historic Winterland Ballroom. These special performances celebrated the two-year anniversary of the Jimi Hendrix Experience and came just as the groundbreaking album Electric Ladyland was released. Even given the era's rich history, you'll be hard-pressed to come up with any concert that rivals what's here.
As many already know, Winterland presents some of Hendrixs most spectacular guitar work. This scintillating set is filled with rare live versions of classic songs such as Manic Depression, Are You Experienced?, Tax Free, and Little Wing that are not part of any other Sony Legacy releases. Fans will also enjoy Hendrixs dramatic interpretations of Creams Sunshine Of Your Love and Howlin Wolfs Killing Floor (with the Experience joined by Jefferson Airplane bassist Jack Casady) as well his rendition of Bob Dylans Like A Rolling Stone, which many critics and fans regard as the ultimate interpretation.
Pressed on 8 x 180g LPs, this special deluxe box set features never before released music from each of the six unforgettable Winterland performances. Please note that Winterland is now markedly different from the flawed single disc compilation, long out of print, briefly issued by Rykodisc in 1987 and 1988. Moreover, Winterland also presents a rare interview with Hendrix recorded backstage at the Boston Garden a few weeks after the Winterland performances. This previously unreleased bonus provides fans with a unique window into Hendrixs views about his background, his approach to the guitar, and songwriting and future direction of his music.
As should be required for any such box set, Winterland features a 36-page booked filled with previously unpublished images by acclaimed photographers Robert Knight, Allen Tannenbaum, and Jim Marshall, as well as an essay by noted Rolling Stone journalist David Fricke.LPs 1 & 2: 10/10/68 Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco

The Cry Of Love
Remastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Masters
The Cry Of Love is being reissued vinyl, reintroduced with original album art and track orders and remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog masters.
Originally released in 1971, and last issued on CD in 1992, The Cry Of Love was compiled and mixed by Hendrix's longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell. The bulk of these tracks were recorded between December 1969 and the summer of 1970 at Electric Lady Studios in New York, and were intended to be part of an ambitious double LP tentatively titled First Rays of the New Rising Sun. Commercially, The Cry Of Love was a huge success, reaching #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the UK, and spawned favorites such as ''Angel,'' ''Freedom,'' and ''Ezy Ryder.'' While Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox comprised the rhythm section on the lion's share of the tracks, Buddy Miles played drums on ''Ezy Ryder'' and Noel Redding played bass on ''My Friend'' (recorded in 1968, before his departure from the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The Cry Of Love also includes the participation of notable guest musicians including Steve Winwood, Chris Wood and Buzzy Linhart among others.1. Freedom

Axis: Bold As LoveRanked 82/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Very few albums radically change the musical and cultural landscape, altering our perceptions by way of a mad combination of forward-looking performance, liberating lyrical narratives, spiritual overtones, and unimaginable sounds. Jimi Hendrix's sophomore Axis: Bold As Love is one of those records, a timeless and prophetic set that still seems as if it comes to us from the future. Unrelentingly ambitious, deeply mythical, and profoundly virtuosic, the stupendous 1967 collection dives into a pool of lustful psychedelia, earthy blues, cosmic soul, and unhinged rock. Along with jazz-schooled drummer Mitch Mitchell and melodic bassist Noel Redding, Hendrix establishes a new musical language, a foundation on which fellow guitar giants such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, and Prince would build. Ranked by Rolling Stone as the 82nd greatest album ever released, and leagues ahead of its time, Axis: Bold As Love is an absolute must-have for every music lover. Particularly now that it's finally been afforded the sonic treatment it's always deserved.
Mastered from the original two-track mix-down analog master tapes, cut by legendary engineer George Marino on upgraded equipment at Sterling Sound, and pressed on 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI, this LP is a sonic knockout on par with the very best audiophile recordings. With all apologies to previous editions from Classic and Universal, this pressing blows away any competition. It's no wonder that this release spearheads Legacy Recordings' unprecented 2010 Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project of reissues and new releases from the greatest guitar player in history.
Featuring seminal classics such as Spanish Castle Magic, Little Wing, and Castles Made Of Sand, Axis: Bold As Love stands as one of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's monumental moments, a tapestry scorched with color, sewn together with erotic threads, and varnished with rich personality. Do not miss this seminal pressing of a most seminal recording.1. EXP

Are You Experienced? (Music On Vinyl) (Mono)Ranked 15/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Recordings for Are You Experienced had begun in late October 1966, producing a string of singles preceding the illustrious first album by the world's most famous guitarist. While recording, the future working relationship between engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix was forged. The debut album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was initially issued in mono and then 'enhanced stereo' on later issues.
The UK cover photography was by Bruce Flemming. Releases in Europe had the words Jimi Hendrix placed above the title. These later issues were 'enhanced stereo', with tracks listed on the back.
The USA & Canadian issues were released after the band appeared at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967, along with The Who. Its art was directed by Ed Thrasher, using a Karl Ferris infra-red fish-eye photo. There is a key difference to the tracks on this album, with some removed and replaced by the earlier singles, plus a change to the running order. The spelling Foxey Lady appears in some of these issues, and has been adopted for the Music On Vinyl mono reissue.1. Purple Haze

Forge Your Own Chains: Heavy Psychedelic Ballads & Dirges 1968-1974This compilation introduces a new direction for Now-Again Records and its owner, producer and famed crate-digger Egon. With the same detailed, no-stone-unturned approach he used for Deep Funk
(The Funky 16 Corners, Cold Heat), he tackles beat-heavy global psychedelia with Forge Your Own Chains.
"Those of us birthed into record collecting by the Hip Hop midwife revered Jimi Hendrix as well as James Brown. We searched for albums by Mulatu Astatke and Power of Zeus with the same fervor," Egon writes in his introduction to the comp.
Forge Your Own Chains showcases music from all corners of the world: Colombia, Nigeria, Sweden, South Korea, Thailand and Iran. The focus - in keeping with Now-Again's tradition - is on melody, driving rhythms and accessibility. Not one song is included on this compilation because it is from a "rare" album. Certainly, many of these songs do spring from albums that exchange hands for many thousands of dollars and many of these songs have never seen reissue. But these songs are all beautiful in their own right and work to form a coherent album.
Psychedelic records, long the mainstay of older, grizzled collectors and seemingly quaint, are, in the hands of Egon and those of his generation, giving up new ghosts. And, with comps like Forge Your Own Chains, inspiring new investigations into our not so distant (and still very much alive) musical past.Side One

Rainbow Bridge (Soundtrack)
Remastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Masters
Rainbow Bridge is being reissued on vinyl, reintroduced with original album art and track orders and remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog masters.
Rainbow Bridge was compiled and mixed by Eddie Kramer and Mitch Mitchell in 1971, with the help of Electric Lady Studios engineer John Jansen. Most of the tracks were recorded in 1969 and 1970, during the same sessions that spawned The Cry Of Love. Rainbow Bridge is often misconstrued as being an entirely live album, being that the film of the same name features excerpts of a live Jimi Hendrix performance in Maui. However, Hendrix had no role in the creation of the rambling, unfocused 1971 film which was directed by Chuck Wein. The film was not a Hendrix project in any way but instead an independent vision of his manager Michael Jeffery. After Hendrix's death in September 1970, Jeffery scrapped Hendrix's original vision of a double studio album titled First Rays Of The New Rising Sun and called for Kramer, Mitchell and Jansen to compile two posthumous albums-including one that would that would serve as a soundtrack for the Rainbow Bridge film.
Mitchell, Kramer and Jansen drew upon Hendrix's rich trove of studio recordings that the guitarist had been developing at Electric Lady Studios. Songs such as ''Dolly Dagger'' and ''Room Full Of Mirrors'' were bright examples of Hendrix's new creative direction. Other standouts on the album included a studio rendition of ''Star Spangled Banner'' as well as the majestic ''Hey Baby (New Rising Sun).'' The one live track on the album, an extraordinary rendition of Hendrix's original blues composition ''Hear My Train A Comin''' is taken from a performance at Berkeley Community Theatre in May of 1970, and not in the film at all. Buddy Miles and Noel Redding both appear on one track each, and the Ronettes provide backing vocals on ''Earth Blues.''

Carefully Restored From The Original Analog Master Tapes
Carefully restored from the original analog master tapes, featuring original poster and alternate cover art, the Legacy edition of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's Smash Hits includes timeless classics like Purple Haze, Hey Joe, Red House (a different take from the UK Are You Experienced version), Fire plus 8 more essential Hendrix tracks. First released in 1969, Smash Hits has proved to be immensely popular, serving as a critical introduction to the Hendrix canon for successive generations of fans.
This 2016 edition of Smash Hits includes a recreation of the poster that came with the original U.S. LP release, depicting band members Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding dressed in western attire on horseback. The photograph, taken by Grammy-winning photographer Ed Thrasher (Grateful Dead, Neil Young, the Beach Boys) at Warner Bros. film studios in Burbank, CA in early 1969, was conceived as sleeve art for the album. Band of GypsiesFollowing the breakup of the Experience, Jimi Hendrix took a sabbatical in Woodstock, New York, hooked up with bassist Billy Cox and began jamming with a wide variety of musicians, including R&B drummer Buddy Miles. He had become self-conscious about his image as a showman and rocker and about the limitations of thrashing through the same repertoire night after night. Band Of Gypsys was Hendrix's attempt to redefine himself, and in a way heralded his return to the ethos of the blues and R&B, a return assisted by a powerhouse, groove-oriented rhythm section. Band Of Gypsys was certainly different from Hendrix's work with the Experience, but rivals it in terms of scope, vision and beauty.

Never A Dull MomentEssentially a harder-rocking reprise of Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment never quite reaches the heights of its predecessor, but it's a wonderful, multi-faceted record in its own right. Opening with the touching, autobiographical rocker True Blue, which finds Rod Stewart trying to come to grips with his newfound stardom but concluding that he'd rather be back home, the record is the last of Stewart's series of epic fusions of hard rock and folk. It's possible to hear Stewart go for superstardom with the hard-rocking kick and fat electric guitars of the album, but the songs still cut to the core. You Wear It Well is a Maggie May rewrite on the surface, but it develops into a touching song about being emotionally inarticulate. Similarly, Lost Paraguayos is funny, driving folk-rock, and it's hard not to be swept away when the Stonesy hard rocker Italian Girls soars into a mandolin-driven coda. The covers -- whether a soulful reading of Jimi Hendrix's Angel, an empathetic version of Dylan's Mama, You Been on My Mind, or a stunning interpretation of Etta James' I'd Rather Go Blind -- are equally effective, making Never a Dull Moment a masterful record.

Skydog: The Duane Allman RetrospectiveLimited To 1000

One can hardly imagine Prince, Erykah Badu, or Outkast without the influence of Betty Davis. Her style of raw and revelatory punk-funk defies any notions that women can't be visionaries in the worlds of rock and pop. In recent years, rappers from Ice Cube to Talib Kweli have rhymed over her intensely strong but sensual music. Betty penned the song ''Uptown'' for The Chambers Brothers and wrote the tunes that got The Commodores signed to Motown. The Detroit label soon came calling, pitching a Motown songwriting deal, which Betty turned down. Motown wanted to own everything. Heading to the UK, Marc Bolan of T. Rex urged the creative dynamo to start writing for herself. A common thread throughout Betty's career would be her unbending DIY ethic, which made her quickly turn down anyone who didn't fit with the vision. She would eventually say no to Eric Clapton as her album producer, seeing him as too banal. In 1968, she married Miles Davis and quickly influenced him on the magic of psychedelic rock along with introducing him to Jimi Hendrix-personally inspiring the classic album, Bitches Brew.
Miles and Betty fans have long debated the truth of a near mythological session recorded in Studios B and E at Columbia's 52nd Street Studios on May 14th and 20th, 1969. The landmark session was produced by Miles and Teo Macero and featured Betty on vocals, accompanied by Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, guitarist John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock on keys, and Dylan/Miles session bassist Harvey Brooks. Other players included bassist Billy Cox (Band of Gypsys), saxophonist Wayne Shorter, and organist Larry Young. Now, Light In The Attic, with full support from Betty herself, presents these recordings to the public for the very first time. These historic sessions-never heard, never bootlegged-predate Miles' revolutionary album, Bitches Brew, and are the true birth of Miles' jazz-rock explorations, along with the roots for Betty's groundbreaking funk that came years later, starting with her self-titled debut in 1973. While, ultimately, these recordings would go unreleased for nearly half a century, they would greatly shape each of their careers.
The vibe is intrinsically unique, fresh, and futuristic-jazz heavyweights playing psychedelia, rock, and jazz-fusion long before the term became commonplace. The songs include Betty originals and covers of classics by Creedence and Cream. The concepts explored on these previously unheard sessions fueled concepts that wouldn't be fully realized until years later with Miles' seminal On The Corner.
Additionally, included here is the first time rerelease of a 1968 Columbia single, recorded in October 1968 at Columbia Studios in Los Angeles. The session was produced by Jerry Fuller and featured South African maverick Hugh Masekela on trumpet and arrangements, plus members of jazz-funk pioneers The Crusaders-including trombonist Wayne Henderson and pianist Joe Sample. Two of the three tracks included here from this session are previously unreleased.
This deluxe package is a treasure trove for both Betty and Miles fans, including rare documents from the pen of co-producer Teo Macero, rarely seen photos from legendary photographer Baron Wolman, and new interviews with Mrs. Davis herself, Harvey Brooks, and Hugh Masekela-the entire project overseen with Betty's full blessing.1. OVSE-MOV-1462xFrank Marino & Mahogany Rush
LiveMahogany Rush is a Canadian Rock band led by guitarist Frank Marino, whose soaring lead guitar work bears a strong resemblance to the playing of Jimi Hendrix. In the late 70's and onward, the group toured as Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and at times is referred to simply as Frank Marino.
Mahogany Rush commanded a loyal, good-sized following and provided its share of five-star albums. One of them is this live album, which was recorded during their U.S. tour in late 1977 and came out on vinyl the following year. Mahogany knew how to burn on stage, and this excellent LP really captures the vitality of its 1970s concerts.
You gotta hear Frank Marino let loose on live versions of Dragonfly, Electric Reflections of War, and The Answer. The band is equally captivating on sweaty performances of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze, Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode, and Muddy Waters' I'm a King Bee.
Live is consistently rewarding and is enthusiastically recommended to anyone into Hard Rock and classic Heavy Metal.1. Introduction

Hear Hendrix Propel the 12-Bar Blues Into the Future: 11 Extraordinary Songs Recorded Between 1966 and 1970
Originally released in 1994, the Jimi Hendrix Blues album features 11 blues performances recorded by Hendrix between 1966 and 1970 showcasing the guitarist's mastery of the 12-bar form. This double-LP audiophile edition of Blues is arguably the best packaged, richest sounding, most coherent post-mortem release from the Hendrix archives.
Framed by his poignant 1967 acoustic 12-string rendition of Hear My Train 'A Comin' and a stirring 1970 trio performance, these 11 rough and ready tracks illustrate Hendrix's deep spiritual connections to his blues roots and his daring experimental take on the shape of future blues to come. And they've never sounded so vital, necessary, or dynamic.
Cut from the original tapes at Sterling Sound by iconic engineer George Marino under the supervision of Eddie Kramer, and pressed and plated at RTI, this 2LP version will forever stand as the definitive-sounding, high-performance edition of this historic document. Hendrix In The WestVery often, at the beginning of a show, Jimi Hendrix would ask his audience to forget about what happened yesterday or today and start their own world right here.
For this special new edition of the 1971 live-album Music On Vinyl asks you to do the same.
In The West consists of live recordings from the two incarnations of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, including his legendary Isle Of Wight Festival performance in 1970, where he created a live medley of 'God Save The Queen' and 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' with a stunned Paul McCartney in the audience.
To Jimi, concerts were snapshots of where the band was at that moment in time, and Electric Ladyland director of engineering Eddie Kramer (and producer of most of Jimi's posthumous live albums) must have realized that this was when The Experience was at its peak.
In The West was the first live album to be released after Jimi's untimely death.
Forty years later, Music On Vinyl is re-releasing it with a number of beautiful extra's: three bonus tracks that have never been released before, along with a booklet of unpublished photographs by Jim Marshall, who was also responsible for the iconic cover artwork.LP 1

Stone Free - Jimi Hendrix TributeRed & Purple Mixed Vinyl
Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix (1993) was recorded by various artists in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. The artists were drawn from many genres of popular music. Contributors include his classic rock contemporaries Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, blues man Buddy Guy, classical violinist Nigel Kennedy, alternative pop/rock bands Belly and Spin Doctors, hip hop artists P. M. Dawn, among others.
According to the liner notes, the artists were encouraged to not only record one of their own personal favorites but to also place their stamp on Jimi's songs. Several artists recorded radically different interpretations, particularly, P. M. Dawn, The Cure, Nigel Kennedy and Pat Metheny. Some artists, on the other hand, recorded versions that were rather similar to the originals.
The band M.A.C.C. is made up of Mike McCready (guitarist from Pearl Jam), Jeff Ament (bassist from Pearl Jam), Matt Cameron (drummer for Soundgarden and later for Pearl Jam), and Chris Cornell (singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave). The cover of Hey Baby (Land of the New Rising Sun) is their only known recording. All four members of this group had previously worked together on the Temple of the Dog project.
Eric Clapton's backing group on the title track includes the three original core members of Chic (Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson) and is the last recording on which all three played together.LP1
