Includes a Full Color Jacket, A Double Sided Full Color Insert and a 12mm Spined Outer Sleeve.

Music On Vinyl is proudly re-releasing The Jeff Buckley Grace EPs on vinyl. This unique package contains 5 180g 12 vinyl records each in their own full colour jacket, a double sided full colour insert and a 12mm spined outer sleeve.

In the space of one studio album, and a number of recorded live performances, Jeff Buckley managed to carve out a global cult following. With so little studio output available, fans of Jeff Buckley have inevitably been drawn back time and time again to the masterpiece that is Grace, becoming familiar with every detail of every song.

The five discs that make up The Grace EPs are a collection of live performances and a few studio versions from songs that appeared on Buckley's seminal debut album. A few b-sides are also included. Indeed two of these (Peyote Radio Theatre and So Real) were promotional-only releases that weren't commercially available. The others were rare imports: Last Goodbye came out in Japan, Live From the Bataclan in France, and The Grace EP in Australia.

Jeff Buckley toured the globe extensively, performing countless shows in support of his music.
The Grace EPs capture some of the majesty of his stage presence. So what of the music contained here? First of all this is no skimpy collection - adding up to more than two hours even though there are just three to five songs on each disc. The perfect supplement to the Grace album, it contains live versions (sometimes more than one) of five songs from that record, as well as a few edit versions, a Nag Champa Mix of Dream Brother, and a 13- minute live 'Chocolate Version' of Mojo Pin.

Perhaps more interesting to collectors will be a few cover tunes not on Grace: a whopping 12-minute version of Van Morrison's The Way Young Lovers Do, a medley of Je N'En Connais Pas la Fin/Hymne A l'Amour, Hank Williams's Lost Highway, and a 14-minute take on Alex Chilton's Kanga-Roo. And there is, finally, a bonus track added to the The Grace EP (the only song in the package not on the original EPs), Tongue, a spooky ambient 11-minute studio instrumental.

If you're a devoted Buckley-phile, this set is for you. It's beautifully put together, with crisp sound quality in the live performances, and captures Buckley's tremendous flair for stage improvisation.

Buckley had a voice like an oversexed angel, and the songs on Grace shimmer and twist and ripple. On the fierce rocker Eternal Life, he upends Led Zeppelin's take on the blues, even as he honors it: Instead of a hellhound on his trail, Buckley, who drowned in 1997, sings about immortality bearing down on him. - Rolling Stone

During his famed early gigs at the New York club Sin-É, Buckley used to break hearts with his version of this Cohen prayer. Buckley called it a homage to 'the hallelujah of the orgasm' and had misgivings about his sensuous rendition: 'I hope Leonard doesn't hear it.' On his posthumous live album Mystery White Boy, Buckley turns 'Hallelujah' into a medley with the Smiths' 'I Know It's Over.' - Rolling Stone

Jeff Buckley's Grace is a masterpiece. The critically acclaimed breakthrough is filled with sweeping choruses, bombastic arrangements, searching lyrics, and above all, the richly textured voice of Buckley himself.

    You & I

Jeff Buckley's first recording sessions in 1993 in NYC were largely an informal exercise to acclimate the 27-year-old with a recording studio. Recently discovered in the Sony Music archives during the research for the 20th anniversary edition of Buckley's Grace album, the performances on You And I are a revelation, an intimate portrait of the artist performing a variety of cover songs and original music expressing a range of emotion channeled through his singular sensibility.

These intimate, raw and spirited sessions mark Buckley's first time recording versions of electric cover songs such as Bob Dylan's "Just Like A Woman," Sly & The Family Stone's "Everyday People," and Led Zeppelin's "Night Flight" and a previously unissued track, "Dream of You And I."

Long rumored to exist, as the "Addabbo sessions", but previously unheard outside the studio, these seminal recordings are a fan's Holy Grail, a rare opportunity to hear Jeff Buckley in peak form, developing his artistry through a series of spellbinding solo performances, each one captured in pristine sonic detail.

Any time I take a cover and wear it on my sleeve, it's because it had something to do with my life and still marks a time in my life when I needed that song more than anything ever. -- Jeff Buckley, 1994

Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk

    Import

    Remastered

Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk is the
collection of studio tracks and four-track demos
recorded by Jeff Buckley in the summer of 1996
    and early 1997.

Buckley had been working on an album to be called
My Sweetheart, the Drunk, but the album had
yet to be finished at the time of his death. It was
released posthumously in May 1998. Given the raw
and somewhat unfinished nature of the songs, the
collection that was released was called Sketches
    for My Sweetheart the Drunk.

The album's original sessions were produced by
Television frontman Tom Verlaine. Despite its
unfinished state, the album received many positive
reviews. After the audiophile releases of Grace ,
The Grace EP´s and Mystery White Boy, this
release on Music on Vinyl completes the series of
    available Jeff Buckley studio material.
This 3LP audiophile set is housed in a firm

Dreams Of The Way We Were

This superb performance, from October 1992, broadcast live by radio station WFMU-FM from Upsala College, New Jersey, pre-dates Jeff Buckley's debut by a little over a year. While most of the songs are covers, there are two early original compositions, Eternal Life and Unforgiven - both of which later appeared on the album 'Grace' in 1994 (the latter by then re-titled Last Goodbye).

10 Years Solo Live (Box Set) (Out Of Stock)

Nonesuch Records releases Brad Mehldau's 10 Years Solo Live eight-LP vinyl box set October 16, 2015. The set is culled from 19 live recordings made over a decade of the pianist's European solo concerts and is divided into four thematic subsets of four sides each: Dark/Light, The Concert, Intermezzo/RÜckblick, and E Minor/E Major. 10 Years Solo Live will be released digitally and on CD the following month.

As Mehldau explains in his liner note for the album, Although it totals around 300 minutes, the order of songs is not arbitrary, and I have tried to tell a story from beginning to end in the way I've sequenced it. He continues, There is a theme and character given to each four-side set.

Of the Dark/Light theme, he says, In concerts, I find that I contrast dark and light emotional energies and highlight the way they depend on each other. Sides 1-4 focus on this dichotomy in pairs, beginning with the dark energy of Jeff Buckley's 'Dream Brother,' which is followed by the grace of Lennon/McCartney's 'Blackbird.' He further says, Although the songs on Sides 5-8 (The Concert) come from different concerts, on this set, I arranged them in a sequence similar to that I would perform in a single concert in 2010-11, he continues.

The third set could be thought of as Intermezzo and RÜckblick-like in character. I'm thinking of the penultimate movement of Brahms's Third Piano Sonata with that title. RÜckblick means a look backward, perhaps a reappraisal. Brahms's Intermezzo movement was a look back at what had taken place in his Sonata before moving to the final movement. Here, the listener is invited to look back to music that was recorded 10 or more years ago, in 2004 and 2005. Mehldau explains that his approach to the sequence of the fourth set is to focus on the rub between the keys of E minor and E major. I return to the theme of dark and light from the first set, now allowing the listener to focus on how 'dark' and 'light' might manifest in tonality.

Mehldau has performed around the world at a steady pace for 25 years, with his trio, with other collaborators, and as a solo pianist, building a large and loyal audience. It is actually strange, this whole business of performance. It is a direct, intense kind of empathy with a group of total strangers that lasts around 90 minutes. And then, it's over, and everyone goes home. I go back to a hotel room and go to bed, the pianist says in his10 Years Solo Livenote. Something happened, but what was most vital about it can't really be put in words. It is sweet, kind of bittersweet. In any case, it is not enough to say that the different audiences were important for the creation of this music. They were absolutely necessary; they were pivotal. Without those audiences, this music would not exist in the way it does.
