    Dear You

    Blue Colored Vinyl

Reissue of Jawbreaker's seminal 90's record, which many say ushered in the next wave of emo and pop-punk sound. This collectible is finally back in print & will be pressed on blue vinyl!

Jawbreaker was an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996 and considered one of the most influential acts of the early-1990s emo movement. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album Unfun (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records. Relocating again to San Francisco the following year, they released 1992's Bivouac through the Tupelo Recording Company and The Communion Label. Schwarzenbach's charisma and personal, frustrated lyrics helped to establish him as a cult idol, even as he underwent surgery to remove painful and voice-threatening polyps from his throat. Jawbreaker toured with Nirvana in 1993 and released 24 Hour Revenge Therapy in 1994, attracting the attention of major labels. They signed a $1 million contract with DGC Records and released 1995's Dear You, but the album's polished production and smooth vocals resulted in a significant backlash from the band's core audience. Internal tensions led to Jawbreaker's dissolution in 1996.

Blue Blood Blues - Jawbreaker (Live)

The standout track on the Dead Weathers sophomore album Sea of Cowards and its second single, Blue Blood Blues is full of bluster and wicked licks. With lead vocals by Jack White, the lyrics are line after line of gems all worth repeating, especially All the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. Backed with a live version of the track Jawbreaker that explodes with an abandon not found on the studio version. 7 limited edition vinyl single, picture sleeve, in poly bag.

    Hyperview

Every artist bio has its stock narrative: first comes the lengthy Juvenile Period (trial, error, rejection); then, dues having been paid, comes the electrifying Breakthrough (critical praise, general validation), which inaugurates the terminal Mature Period (respect of peers, reliable buying public, steadily diminishing relevance). Those who make it to that third stage, the story goes, might as well get comfortable, for they've achieved Success.

In 2012, Title Fight, a four-piece from Kingston, Pa., then known for a screamingly insistent brand of melodic hardcore, was right on schedule. Having formed in 2003 while its members (bassist/vocalist Ned Russin, guitarist/vocalist Jamie Rhoden, guitarist Shane Moran, and drummer Ben Russin) were in middle school, the band had begun in typically wobbly fashion with several pop-punk demos, split singles, and EPs. Then, in the spring of 2011, the Breakthrough had arrived in the form of Shed, their debut long player, a blistering, throat-shedding blend of Gorilla Biscuits, Turning Point, and Jawbreaker that won the heart of every hardcore and punk kid from the Warped Tour to Chaos in Tejas - and of every critic from Alternative Press to NME. When the follow-up LP, Floral Green, unexpectedly appeared a scant 16 months later, it bore some new, high-end influences (Hum, Slowdive, the Sundays) and engendered the reasonable assumption that Title
Fight had landed comfortably in their Mature Period.

Hyperview, Title Fight's third LP, sets those assumptions on their head. Taking the measure of Hyperview's massive leap forward from previous releases is difficult to accomplish with words. The listener is periodically
struck by faint echoes of the familiar (the Floral Greenishly tuneful and driving "Chlorine") and of the canonical (the incantatory downstroke pummel of My Bloody Valentine's Isn't Anything period, as on "New Vision"; a Scratch Acid bassline jarringly yet winningly resolving itself into a Chapterhouse swirl, as on "Hypernight"), but this is an album that renders futile the exercise of conceiving bands as sums of influences.
Hyperview can only be heard, and loved, as itself.

Described as the perfect ambassadors of Midwest punk, Banner Pilot reinforced that role with the success of their Fat Wreck Chords debut Collapser. A perfect amalgam of their immediate influences (Dillinger Four, The Lawrence Arms, Alkaline Trio, Jawbreaker), Banner Pilot continue to represent the genre through the impeccably crafted, gritty pop-punk songs on their latest release Heart Beats Pacific. These poetic punks turn a phrase like nobody's business, spinning relatable situations and emotions into clever prose delivered through gruff vocals. Each of the 11-tracks on Heart Beats Pacific is a stand alone, bona fide hit and collectively they make up a rare flawless listening experience.

Look Mexico has been making their favorite music since May 2004 in Tallahassee, FL. After finding their newest member Nick Chambers in recently transplanted town of Austin, TX, they joined forces with legendary producer J Robbins (Jets To Brazil, Jawbreaker, Against Me!, Braid, Murder By Death) to create Look Mexico's best effort yet, Real Americans Spear It (Adeline Records 9/2011). The band has toured just about non-stop, spending at least half of each of the past six years on the road, sharing stages with artists that include Rival Schools, The Honorary Title, Frank Turner, Good Old War, Fake Problems, and Bridge and Tunnel. Look Mexico will hit the road once again in support of their latest release including a trip across the pond in November 2011 for their first ever UK/Euro tour.

Consisting of ex-Jawbreaker frontman Blake Schwarzenbach, ex-Texas Is the Reason drummer Chris Daly, and ex-Handsome vocalist/guitarist Jeremy Chatelain, Jets to Brazil could be considered an amalgam of their forefathers with a slightly darker and more mature musical perspective.

With the 1998 release of their first LP, Orange Rhyming Dictionary, Jets to Brazil took the expectations of their peers and turned them on their heads, surprising most with their breed of music that is fresh and excitingly powerful. As the band members continue to move away from their namesakes and become more comfortable with their expanding sound, the world could see something quite intriguing evolve. Jets to Brazil followed up with Four Cornered Night in August 2000. Two years later, the band returned with their darkest, most inspirational material to date; Perfecting Loneliness was released in October 2002 and reflected mega-tight musicianship from the band. - All Music Guide

    Closer To Closed (EP)

From 1993 to 1997, as Braid carved out its musical niche, the pages of the bands history were filled with endless lists of shows played, 7s recorded, and followers gained. Then, a year after the release of 1998s Frame and Canvas, a genre-defining album that continues to serve as an influence for countless musicians to this day, Braid disbanded at the height of its popularity.

Since that time, fans have been treated to two posthumous compilations (Movie Music Vols. 1 & 2), a short reunion tour in 2004, and the 2010 vinyl reissues of the long out of-print Frankie Welfare Boy Age 5, The Age of Octeen and both Movie Music records.

But, even while Braid kept its name on the tip of peoples tongues, the prospect of hearing brand new music from the band remained elusive, until now. It took only a few practices to write three new tracks and arrange a cover (of Jeff Hansons You Are the Reason), all of which the band then recorded with engineer J. Robbins (Jawbreaker, The Promise Ring, Jets to Brazil, Frame and Canvas).

    The Distance Is So Big

Without a distinguishable understanding of the pop and intensity, a silent video of a Lemuria show would appear to be that of a blistering hardcore trio. To the viewers surprise, turning the audio on they'd find the stage diving mania and screamers are really chanting Maybe I should wear lipstick too or You fit in my skin, softest I've let in as guitarist/vocalist Sheena Ozzella's dynamic, melodic voice guides the unlikely chorus.

Lemuria might not sound like they are from Buffalo, NY, but the band was proudly birthed there, following the legacy of an oddly eclectic, if not eccentric, music scene. When you loosen your ears to the sugary indie-pop, you'll discover discordant notes, odd time signatures, and brutal riffs creating menacing yet catchy music.

Releasing their early 7 EPs and splits on drummer/vocalist Alex Kerns' label Art of the Underground, they landed their debut full length Get Better on west coast pop-punk label Asian Man Records. Following their debut, and worked into an ambitious DIY touring schedule, they sprinkled 7 releases around on labels such as Hex, No Idea Records, and Suburban Home. Eventually, they would settle in with the Boston-based Bridge Nine Records with their 2011 sophomore album, Pebble. Pebble received great critical acclaim and was featured with SPIN, RollingStone.com, and countless other magazines and websites.

Now, Lemuria are gearing up to release their newest effort The Distance Is So Big on Bridge Nine Records on June 18th. Their most mature and best effort to date, this album was recorded at the Magpie Cage with J Robbins (Against Me!, Jawbreaker, The Promise Ring) earlier this year.

    Souvenir

Banner Pilot's 4th full length on Fat!

Souvenir displays a touch of Banner Pilot's musical influences like Jawbreaker, Superchunk and early Replacements, but showcases their evolution into a more complex band compositionally. True to their Midwestern pop sensibilities, Souvenir shines with hooks both instant and subtle, melded into sturdy song structures and braided together with Banner Pilot's signature introspective lyrics. Containing twelve well-rounded tunes, Souvenir exhibits a perfect amalgamation of the band's two previous albums, Heart Beats Pacific and Collapser. Bassist and songwriter Nate Ganglehoff details how Souvenir took its shape:

Looking back over the process of making this album, one thing that jumps out at me is how bad the first songs we wrote for it were. They sounded like us, I guess, but more like a half-hearted cover version of us. The same chords and melodies you'd expect, but missing . something. I remember listening to them one evening in the dead of winter while I was outside shoveling snow, bitter winds whipping into my face, slick ice tripping up my feet, and thinking, "I hope every single thing I'm experiencing at this moment is better by the spring."
We could have just shrugged and rolled with them, I guess, but I'm glad we were a little stubborn and kept plugging away, looking for something better. We scrapped what we had, hunkered down over the rest of the winter, spending many hours at our practice space, or in front of our respective computers, tinkering around with new ideas. We didn't overthink anything; we just tried idea after idea after idea until something would stick. And the tunes did start to get better. Not only was it rewarding to start to develop songs that didn't sound like complete horse crap, it was also fun. They started to feel like the songs you get excited to play live, and it reminded me of what's so great about being in a band in the first place.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think that in the end we stuck to the things we do well, but varied them a little without messing them up. And I think the attitude of "Let's keep trying to make this better" paid off.
