BBC The Radiophonic Workshop
180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl
Available On Vinyl For The 1st Time
The BBC Radiophonic Workshop, set up in 1958, was originally created as a sound effects unit for BBC Radio and TV programs. Pioneering new forms of drama during the late 1950s and early 60s demanded innovative and original use ofmusic and sound. The art of what became known as sounddesign began in the cramped undergroundstudiosof the Radiophonic Workshop at the BBC Maida Vale complex in London. Their early explorations into sound drew on the principles of musique concrete, early tape manipulation techniques and primitive oscillators and tone circuits built by technicians at the workshop. As technology developed and the synthesizer, tape technology, computers and early digital sampling emerged the Radiophonic Workshop maintained an their position at the leading edge of electronic music and sound design.
The vast body of work that emerged between 1960 and 1997 has influenced generations of musicians both within electronica and more widely in the Rock, Progressive and Pop field. Groundbreaking work such as Delia' Darbyshire's 1963 Doctor Who Theme (still the high water mark of experimental music), sound effects albums, works of early electronica and popular favourites such as Blake's 7 and The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy have ensured the RWS a place at electronica's top table. From the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Vangelis to Orbital, The Chemical Brothers and beyond, their legacy lives on in the sounds and textures of so much contemporary music. But it isn't just musicians who have drawn on their work.
The technical development of the studio and modern recording techniques owes them a great debt too. Sound engineer Roger Mayer, who supplied effects pedals to Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix, is just one of many engineers for whom their work proved inspirational. He described the Workshop as, ''the great unsung heroes of British electronica.''
These two records, recorded in 1968 and 1975 respectively, were released at the height of The Radiophonic Workshop's influence. They showcase the dawning of processed sound, treated sounds and sound design.
Quirky and irreverent BBC Radiophonic Music was originally put out as a specialist demonstration library disc for BBC drama producers. In 1971 the BBC released it commercially. This is the first time it has been made available on vinyl in its first and original form.
The Radiophonic Workshop from 1975 was a compilation of the best-known of the Radiophonic Workshop's output to date. This is the first time it has seen a vinyl reissue in its original form.
Both albums have been remastered for vinyl from the original tapes by the Radiophonic Workshop's archivist Mark Ayres. Pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.1. Malcolm Clarke - La Grande Pièce De La Foire De La Rue Delaware

Come On (Let The Good Times Roll)Sundazed presents the second installment in its landmark Jimi Hendrix singles series, which honors the legendary guitar icon's singular musical genius by presenting it in the same medium in which it was originally experienced by fans: vinyl.
The series' latest release once again pairs two vintage Hendrix tracks, combining his visionary reading of Earl King's R&B classic "Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)" alongside the Hendrix original "Calling All the Devil's Children." The former track, which Hendrix recorded for his classic 1968 album Electric Ladyland, demonstrates Jimi's close ties to his blues and R&B roots. The latter demonstrates his skill with long-form improvisation, as well as his playful sense of humor.
Both tracks feature the classic Jimi Hendrix Experience lineup of Hendrix himself on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. As with every release in the series, the new single features a color picture sleeve incorporating seldom seen Hendrix photos that capture the legendary artist's distinctive persona and pioneering spirit.
This new release is the second in Sundazed Music's historic partnership with Experience Hendrix, L.L.C., which launched in April 2012 with a single featuring two rare Hendrix performances from a pair of 1967 BBC sessions.
In a recording career that spanned only three and a half years prior to his tragic death in 1970 at the age of 27, Jimi Hendrix revolutionized the role of the electric guitar and radically altered the face of contemporary music. He became rock's first guitar superstar, with an effortless charisma that matched his visionary talent to an intensely original performing style. More than four decades after his passing, his influence upon contemporary music looms as large as ever.1. Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)

Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path6LP Picture Disc Box Set
Grammy-winning, multi-platinum selling and legendary rock band Soundgarden, have announced the vinyl release of their highly acclaimed rarities collection, Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path. Hard on the heels of the 20th anniversary deluxe re-release of their chart-topping, five-times-platinum 1994 album, Superunknown early last year, the new vinyl package, first released as a 3-CD collection and as a 14-track single CD last November, will feature the three album thematic collection on six LPs with three separate jackets, each sporting its own unique art and housed in a slipcase wrapped in foil paper designed by Josh Graham.
The collection was curated and hand-selected by guitarist Kim Thayil. Echo Of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across The Path is the first time an official Soundgarden release has included more than 26 years of rarities that have appeared as B-sides, album bonus tracks, EPs, soundtracks, compilations and live recordings, a must for any fan of the band.
LP 1 & 2, dubbed "ORIGINALS," is filled with Soundgarden-written songs, mainly B-sides along with some soundtrack and compilation selections in addition to two unreleased songs on vinyl which go back as far as "Sub Pop Rock City," originally included as part of the 1988 compilation, Sub Pop 200. The two unreleased tracks on this disc are "Kristi," a 1996 outtake from the Down on the Upside sessions which is reportedly drummer Matt Cameron's favorite Soundgarden song, and "Storm," a brand-new track recorded in early 2014.
LP 3 & 4, "COVERS," offers a stellar showcase of songs from bands who Soundgarden love and admire, from classic rockers The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Doors, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix and Sly and the Family Stone to punk pioneers The Stooges, the Ramones, Fear and DEVO. Showing their sense of humor, Soundgarden also cover songs by Spinal Tap and Cheech & Chong. The two unreleased tracks include the Beatles' "Everybody's Got Something to Hide " and the Sly Stone track "Thank You ", both of which were originally recorded for a BBC Radio 1 John Peel session in 1989.
LP 5 & 6, "ODDITIES," offers a wide-ranging combination of instrumentals, remixes and demos. The unreleased tracks on vinyl include "Twin Tower," penned by Matt Cameron, which was originally recorded at Seattle's London Bridge studio in December 1988 during the sessions for Louder Than Love. "Night Surf" is an instrumental performed by bassist Ben Shepherd which the band used to open their 1994 tour in conjunction with an introductory film which screened before they took the stage. Steve Fisk's new remix of "The Telephantasm (Resurrection Remix)," a song originally released for 2011 Record Store Day, has also never been available on vinyl before.LP 1 - ORIGINALS

Nomad (Out Of Stock)At the invitation of The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, Niger-born Bombino and his band traveled to Nashville for the recording, helmed by Auerbach at his studio, Easy Eye Sound.
Before 2009, Bombino was little known outside Saharan Africa, where his career consisted of regionally available cassettes and roles in local bands. In the last few years, he has begun to find a following abroad. He sold out venues across the US in his first tour here, in 2011, and has garnered the praise of outlets ranging from Pitchfork to NPR's Fresh Air, whose critic Milo Miles called Bombino "a young performer with the charisma and probing imagination to become the first Tuareg star." Auerbach became a fan after a friend saw him perform and thought Auerbach might appreciate his unique style of desert blues.
Born and raised in Niger, in and around the northern city of Agadez, Bombino is a member of the Tuareg Ifoghas tribe, a nomadic people descended from the Berbers of North Africa. The Tuareg people have fought the Niger government to secure their rights on numerous occasions, causing Bombino and his family to flee several times. During one such exile, relatives visiting from the front lines of the rebellion left behind a guitar and Bombino began teaching himself to play it. He eventually studied with the renowned Tuareg guitarist Haja Bebe, who asked him to join his band, where he acquired the nickname Bombino-a variation on the Italian word for "little child."
While living in Algeria and Libya in his teen years, Bombino's friends played him videos of Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler, among others, which they watched over and over in an effort to master their licks. Bombino worked regularly as a musician and also as a herder in the desert near Tripoli, spending many hours alone watching the animals and practicing his guitar. Eventually, Bombino returned to Niger, where he continued to play with a number of local bands. As his legend grew, a Spanish documentary film crew helped Bombino record his first album, Group Bombino's Guitars from Agadez Vol. 2, which became a local radio hit.
In 2009, Bombino met filmmaker Ron Wyman, who had heard a cassette of Bombino's music while traveling near Agadez. Wyman was enchanted by Bombino's music and spent a year seeking him out, eventually tracking him down to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where he was in exile after two band members were killed in a rebellion. (The Tuaregs have since put down their arms and returned to Niger.) Wyman featured Bombino in a documentary he was filming about the Tuareg and also produced his 2011 solo album, Agadez.
Writing about Bombino's 2011 album Agadez, NPR Music praised the artist's "sublime guitar licks," which Pitchfork has described as "scorching." The BBC has said, "[Bombino's music] holds hidden power beneath its deceptive simplicity, with many a tune devolving into blistering guitar jams, following chanted vocals about the struggle for unity and self-determination, as well as the longing that love brings, and the difficulties facing a life of shepherd's solitude."1.
