    Laid Back

Mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound from the Original Tapes

Plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings!

Faithfully Reproduced Jacket Artwork; Tip-on Gatefold from Stoughton Printing

Gregg Allman's 1973 solo debut also became his biggest hit, a No. 13 LP featuring his Top 20 classic Midnight Rider. Analogue Productions now brings forth a sparkling reissue of this classic disc, mastered from the original analog tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. And presented as a 200-gram sonic superstar plated and pressed at our own Quality Record Pressings!

By the end of 1973, the Allman Brothers Band seemed to have it all nailed down, writes reviewer Rickey Wright. They'd proven their mettle with a fine synthesis of blues, jazz, folk, and country influences; expanded upon it with the definitive Fillmore East set; and moved forward after the separate losses of guitarist Duane Allman and bassist Berry Oakley. The group's myriad strengths, in fact, might've been the reason that one of their most obvious gifts - Gregg Allman's pained, growling voice - was sometimes overlooked.

Laid Back, Greg Allman's first solo disc, seems in part an effort to gain a little more recognition. It worked, particularly given the strong radio response to its opening track, a loping remake of Midnight Rider. Likewise, much of the album's remainder finds Allman tweaking the band's blues (Queen of Hearts) and country sides (a cover of Jackson Browne's These Days); horns and gospelish backing vocals add to the personal, often mournful feel. Laid Back is an often convincing version of the man's music.

Gregg Allman Live: Back To Macon, GA

Gregg Allman is one of the most acclaimed, beloved, and awarded icons in rock and roll history. As a founding member of the legendary Allman Brothers Band and in his own storied solo career, Allman has long been a gifted, natural interpreter of the blues; his soulful and distinctive voice is one of the defining sounds in the history of American music. Although the Allman Brothers wrapped up their forty-five year career in 2014, Gregg Allman shows no signs of slowing down. With the help of his 8-piece band and special guest Devon Allman, 'Gregg Allman Live: Back to Macon, GA' documents ferociously high-energy and emotive performances. Captured at the venerable Grand Opera House in the town where the Allmans got their start, this audio only 2-disc deluxe gatefold vinyl set features 16 fan favorites including 'Whipping Post,' 'Melissa,' and 'Midnight Rider.'

    American Goldwing

American Goldwing is Sub Pops third full-length release with Portland, OR's Blitzen Trapper and the bands sixth full-length overall. On American Goldwing, Blitzen Trapper let their loves and influences; hard guitar rock, country picking and pawn-shop Casio aplomb, hang out for all to see.

The album is also the bands first foray into direct, outside influence in the creation of a record, with mixing by Tchad Blake and co-production by Gregg Williams. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Eric Earley says American Goldwing will make you want to shotgun a beer in the shower while listening to the Stones or Joe Walsh (well, or Blitzen Trapper) and we are not inclined to argue.

Following the release of 2009's Goodbye Cruel World, Hello Crueler World, Spider Bags Dan McGee and Gregg Levy joined up with drummer Rock Forbes and toured as a trio in an old Mitsubishi Mirage, with Forbes crammed into the back seat alongside the band's gear. Three of the six 45s mined for Churchkey Records' new collection aptly and simply named Singles were recorded during this period of frenzied creativity. 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl & Gatefold Jacket

The Allman Brothers Band's comeback album, and their best blues-based outing since Idlewild South that restored a lot of their reputation. With Tom Dowd running the session, and the group free to make the music they wanted to, they ended up producing this bold, rock-hard album, made up mostly of songs by Dickey Betts (with contributions by new keyboardman Johnny Neel and lead guitarist Warren Haynes), almost every one of them a winner. Apart from the rippling opening number, Good Clean Fun, which he co-authored, Gregg Allman's contribution is limited to singing and the organ, but the band seem more confident than ever, ripping through numbers like Low Down Dirty Mean, Shine It On, and Let Me Ride like they were inventing blues-rock here, and the Ornette Coleman-inspired True Gravity is their best instrumental since Jessica.

    Life

Life is the third studio album of Sly and the Family Stone, originally released in 1968.

Many of its songs, including M'Lady, Fun, Love City, as well as the title track, became popular staples in the Family Stone's live show. A middle ground between the fiery A Whole New Thing and the more commercial Dance To The Music, Life features very little use of studio effects, and is instead more driven by frontman Sly Stone's compositions.

Much of Life has been heavily sampled for Hip Hop and Electronica recordings, particularly Gregg Errico's drum solo on Love City. The opening riff on Into My Own Thing was sampled for Fatboy Slim's 2001 hit Weapon of Choice.

In 1980, The Allman Brothers Band greeted the new decade with a smokin' new line-up,
a new label and a great new recording with Reach For The Sky. This stunning Arista Records

Idlewild South (Awaiting Repress) (On Sale)

Idlewild South, the sophomore release from America's sovereign Southern rock band the Allman Brothers, is easily their greatest studio album. Unlike the band's labyrinthine live shows, which are distinguished by their immense, walloping swamp rock, this album focuses on the considerable songwriting capabilities of Gregg Allman and Dicky Betts. Plus, it showcases the bands original lineup, before multiple tragedies began taking their toll: The lightning slide guitar of Duane Allman, the vocals and Hammond B-3 of his brother Greg Allman, lead guitarist Dickey Betts, bassist Berry Oakley, and the thunderous drum tandem of Butch Trucks and Jaimoe Johanson. This album lays bare their talent for weaving disparate but distinctly Southern elements of rock, gospel, soul, jazz, and R&B into a cohesive and original whole. The legendary Engineer/Producer Tom Dowd oversaw these sessions, which resulted in the Bible-thumping Revival, the smash hit Midnight Rider, the dirty blues of Don't Keep Me Wonderin', the soul-soothing Please Call Home, and the legendary In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, which would go on to become the penultimate Allman Brothers' concert war-horse.

    Pacific Ocean Blue

At first a somewhat un-noticed Wilson brother at the beginning of the Beach Boys' career, Dennis Wilson later matured into an excellent songwriter, producer, and vocalist. His heartfelt ballads and pop gems contributed heavily to the Beach Boys' late 60's and early 70's output.

A 'target' of female enthusiasm, Dennis was assigned lead vocals for a few early novelty songs: Little Girl (You're My Miss America), Surfers Rule, and This Car of Mine. His first hit came in 1965 when Do You Wanna Dance opened the The Beach Boys Today! album and cracked the Top 20.

After the high peaks and deep valleys of the Beach Boys career during the late '60s, Dennis began writing songs (Little Bird, Be Still) for 1968's 'Friends'. Throughout the early '70s, Beach Boys fans counted on at least two Dennis songs on each LP, often tender ballads. He made his first attempt at a solo album as early as 1970, but quietly released only one single. He started to work again in 1975, recording with friend and producer Gregg Jakobsen during 1976 to complete Pacific Ocean Blue.

Though Dennis had started to work on his second album (provisionally titled 'Bamboo') even before the release of Pacific Ocean Blue, increasing problems caused several holdups.

In late 1983 Wilson drowned while diving around his boat in Marina del Ray, CA. Pacific Ocean Blue is his only complete solo effort released to the public and we're pleased to offer it in audiophile quality!

    I Remember Brother Ray

David 'Fathead' Newmanï's warm tone, occasionally terse phrasing, and always heartfelt delivery placed him in high demand by artists as diverse as B.B. King, Herbie Mann, Jane Monheit, and Gregg Allman. With over twenty recordings to his name, I Remember Brother Ray stands as an understated highlight, a record that doesn't so much jump out at you as it does gently sidle up beside you and ingratiates itself with its warmth and affability. Newman got his first big break with Ray Charles in the early '50s, playing in his band from '54 through '64 and subsequently making numerous guest appearances over the years. And so Newman entered the studio of another legend, engineer Rudy Van Gelder just two months after Charles' death to record I Remember Brother Ray, a tribute to the jazzier side of a man who regarded himself as a jazz singer anyway.

The record evokes the ambience of a smoky bar in the early hours of the morning. Newman assembled a quintet as comfortable with the tender balladry of Georgia on My Mind as it is the soul-drenched blues of Drown in My Tears. Charles believed that the ability to play jazz permits the ability to cross over into other genres, and the playing on I Remember Brother Ray clearly supports his conviction.

While there were quite a few Ray Charles tributes, few equaled I Remember Brother Ray for its grace, integrity, honesty, and pure connection to the true essence of Charles' legacy.
