DookieRanked 193/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Green Day's third release and major label debut, Dookie turned the San Francisco Bay area trio into overnight stars in 1994 and they've never looked back. Their infectious brand of modern punk revitalized the genre with its flippant humor and ironic self-loathing. The album produced the five hit singles Longview, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case, She and When I Come Around and remains the band's biggest selling record. Dookie won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Green Day was also nominated for Best New Artist, Basket Case was nominated for Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group With Vocal and Longview was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance. Green Colored Vinyl
First release for legendary live broadcast of this early Green Day performance - features rare live versions of much of Green Day's pre-Dookie catalogue!
It was during their tour in support of Kerplunk that the band played an in-house set on May 28th at legendary New Jersey station WMFU FM, which was broadcast live. With a song list predominately made up of tracks from their first two albums and early EPs, the performance, featured in full on this LP, offers a perfect retrospective of their early career.
An intimate event without an audience, save for DJs and technicians, the band still play in a typically exhilarating manner for close to 70 minutes, during which, in addition to their own multiple compositions, covers of numbers originally by fellow local bands Operation Ivy and Fifteen are included.
In the near 20 years since this startling performance took place, Green Day have become among the finest Rock bands ever to emerge and now reside in the same league as greats like U2, Queen or Metallica, but listening to this recording now, helps to remember that Green Day have always been great, and its looking unlikely that this status will slip anytime soon.

This is where the garage punk-pop revival began. Before Nirvana and Nevermind, there was Green Day and the 1991 indie-released 39/Smooth. MTV, multiplatinum albums and massive critical acclaim were still in the distance at this point. 39/Smooth was a three chord explosion of unfettered, even goofy, energy and passion. Previously out of print, this elusive album, now reissued for the first time on a major label, marks the genesis of modern rock. Stop Drop and RollNew Green Day Side Project!
Fans awaiting a new Green Day record are about to get one. The Bay Area punks have revealed that the 50s-style garage band called the Foxboro Hot Tubs is in fact the rock superstars working under a pseudonym. The band takes on a different aesthetic here though as the sound and the songs are more reminiscient of classic garage bands like the Animals and the Kinks. Their first full length album is entitled Stop Drop And Roll.
We think that the only similarity (between the Hot Tubs and Green Day) is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity, explained a Hot Tubs spokesman. We are Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard, Frank Edwin Wright the Third and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch. We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, (and) after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings.
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt's real name is Michael Pritchard, and drummer Tre Cool was born Frank Edwin Wright III. Strychnine Twitch is the alter ego Armstrong has adopted for the project. Freese and White have both played on Green Day's recent albums, and White is also a member of Armstrong's other side project, Pinhead Gunpowder.

Revolution RadioProduced by Green Day and recorded in Oakland, Revolution Radio is a potent 12-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems that unites Green Day's fully formed stylistic approach with lyrical themes that address the complexities and uncertainties of modern day existence. Musically, the album is raw, visceral, and fearless -- solidifying the band's reign as one of the leading voices in rock music. The first single, Bang Bang, released today and inspired by recent events, marks a welcome return from a band with more to say than ever.
Of course the world has lost its collective mind... and me, Mike and TrÉ are lost souls too, said Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Angus SoundtrackClear Vinyl
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Angus Soundtrack, SRCvinyl is bringing it to vinyl for the first time ever! The album has been mastered for vinyl by Kevin Gray at Coherent Studios and is pressed on limited edition 180 gram vinyl.
The film's soundtrack accurately reflects the melodic ideas prevalent in the alternative rock scene at the time. Most of the bands perform songs that closely resonate with the themes of the film while keeping a fast yet upbeat tone, a sharp departure from the age of grunge, which had just reached its twilight. (It should be noted that Angus' penchant for flannel and denim, as well as his defeatist persona, are concepts more closely associated with grunge.) However, several key songs are absent in the CD that was released, most notably ''Fade into You'' by Mazzy Star, the song that was played as Angus and Melissa danced, and ''Rubella'' by the Smoking Popes.
Weezer's initial offering, a song entitled ''Wanda (You're My Only Love)'' (or sometimes just ''Wanda''), was written specifically for the movie but rejected for being ''too much of a strict interpretation of the movie'' and for not sounding enough like what was expected of Weezer at the time. The previously written, more uptempo ''You Gave Your Love to Me Softly'' was used instead, and the rejection of the former song was known to have hurt Weezer's singer and songwriter Rivers Cuomo at the time. Though Weezer never properly recorded ''Wanda'', Cuomo released his 1994 demo of the song (along with the story of the song's submission and rejection) in 2007 on the albumAlone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.
The unique version of ''Am I Wrong'' by Love Spit Love, mixing marching band horns into the original version of the song which interplay well with Richard Butler's raw vocals.
Green Day contributed ''J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)'', a song written by bassist Mike Dirnt about his friend who died in a car accident when he was 19. This song peaked at number one on the Modern Rock Billboard charts of 1995. This song was later released on their 2001 greatest hits album, International Superhits. Meanwhile, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong co-produced ''Back to You'' by the Riverdales with producer Mass Giorgini, which was featured during the dance sequence at the high prom in the film.
The music supervisors for Angus were Elliot Cahn and Jeff Saltzman, who, at the time, also managed two of the soundtrack's artists: Green Day and The Muffs.

Weezer (Green Album)Weezer (Green Album) on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram LP from Mobile Fidelity
Concise, Tightly Played 2001 Power-Pop Album Features Back-to-Basics Approach
Weezer's Fastest-Selling Release Includes "Hash Pipe," "Island in the Sun," "Don't Let Go"
Record Launched One of Most Memorable Return-from-the-Dead Comebacks in History
Mastered from the Original Master Tapes: Smooth, Big-Guitar Sound Resonates Like Never Before
Weezer's self-titled third album, collectively known as the Green Album, nearly never came to pass. The band had all but broken apart, with leader Rivers Cuomo choosing to go back to college and the other members dismayed at the initial reception to 1996's Pinkerton. Persuaded at the turn of the century to return to the concert stage, the foursome launched one of the most enduring comeback stories in history, and in the process, penned 75 songs, the choicest of which grace 2001's concise, tightly played Green Album.
Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's reissue presents the music with by far the most dynamic range it's ever enjoyed. Cars icon Ric Ocasek's production comes into fuller relief, with guitar notes ringing with front-to-back depth and superb imaging. Cuomo's singing gains focus and clarity, and the rhythms that help give the tunes their incessant catchiness are better defined, with the low end finally present.
That nearly everything on Green Album-from the cover to the producer to sonics-reflects those of Weezer's blockbuster debut isn't merely coincidence. The quartet, not yet realizing that Pinkerton had already become a cult classic (and, soon after, would be hailed as one of the most prized albums of its generation), intentionally pursued a back-to-basics approach that echoed its roots. Unadorned simplicity, skyscraper-sized hooks, and short-but-sweet arrangements are the hallmarks here, each a signpost on how rock albums can work their way into a listener's head and provide limitless satisfaction.
Of course, however crucial, the music is just one component in Weezer's arsenal. Akin to its sibling efforts, Green Album wouldn't be the same devoid of Cuomo's lyrics, which exude charming personality and boyish awkwardness. Absent is the heart-on-a-sleeve obviousness of the fare of Pinkerton. The material here echoes with a related emotional universality whereby romantic yearning, fear of rejection, and getaway fantasies spark with the winking promise of enthusiasm and attainment. There's a reason every passage remains so accessible; playfulness and wryness abound. Power-pop efforts don't come more perfect.

I Want to Grow Up
"If you like punk, weed, and lo-fi rock'n'roll then you'll probably love Colleen Green. If you
don't like all of those things, you'll probably still love Colleen Green." -- BUST
"Sharper and more cathartic than it seems." -- Pitchfork
"Stoney punk tracks with yearning, sweet vocals but scathing guitar." --Stereogum
As a prospect it can be terrifying, sad, and worst of all, inevitable. But on I Want to Grow Up, her second
album for Hardly Art, Colleen Green lets us know that we don't have to go it alone.
This latest collection of songs follows a newly 30-year-old Green as she carefully navigates a minefield
of emotion. Her firm belief in true love is challenged by the inner turmoil caused by entering modern
adulthood, but that doesn't mean that her faith is defeated. With a nod to her heroes, sentimental SoCal
punks The Descendents, Green too wonders what it will be like when she gets old. Throughout songs
such as Some People, Deeper Than Love, and the illustrative title track, the listener has no choice but
to feel the sympathetic growing pains of revelatory maturation and the anxieties that come along with it.
Sonically the album is a major change for the LA-based songwriter, who has come to be known for her
homemade recordings and merchandise. Her past offerings have been purely Green; testaments to her
self-sufficiency and, perhaps, trepidation. This time, she's got a little help from her friends: the full band
heard here includes JEFF the Brotherhood's Jake Orrall and Diarrhea Planet's Casey Weissbuch, who
collaborated with Green over ten days at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, TN.
I Want to Grow Up is an experience, not unlike life: questioning, learning, taking risks. And in true CG
fashion, a quote from a beloved 90s film seems the perfect summation: Understanding is reached only
after confrontation.1. I Want to Grow Up

Flying Saucer Rock N RollColored Vinyl
Positively praised by Maximum Rock n Roll's Tim Yohannan upon their original release, the first three 7"s from California's garage/punk legends the Groovie Ghoulies have been compiled for the first time ever on "Flying Saucer Rock N Roll." Released to coincide with the group's 30th anniversary, this collection presents the first ten official songs the band ever released - on vinyl for the first time in over 25 years, and for the first time ever on compact disc! The tracks are newly transferred and re-mastered for digital release. In addition, the Green Door Recording Company vaults have turned up three primitive and rare studio bonus tracks, newly discovered and available for the first time ever in all three formats! They were originally dubbed and sold by the band in cassette format in the late 80's! Flying Saucer Rock N Roll captures all the early rawness and energy of the young and eager Kepi as he and his friend Eric just lay down tracks with a drum machine on a Tascam 4 track cassette recorder!!! No laws, no rules, just rock n roll! You can hear the presence of many of the bands that remained life-long influences on the band, from the obvious (Rolling Stones, Ramones) to the more sublime (Billy Bragg, Neil Diamond). These recordings are rare and historic, and mark the first of twelve planned releases which will result in a full catalog re-issue from this entertaining and enduring band. These releases will trace the evolution of Groovie Ghoulies, and this album is the first chapter in the story! A young Kepi Ghoulie, who didn't even have a full band line-up, felt so driven by the D.I.Y. punk and new wave movement, and the need to create his own brand of hi-energy rock n roll, that he recruited his friend to record his crazy vision like a rock n roll Ed Wood! And so away they went! That dream has not stopped to this day! 30 years and close to 20 full length records later, Kepi is still at it, writing, recording, and touring at a relentless and passionate pace.Thousands upon thousands of Groovie Ghoulies records have been sold over the years. Their songs have been placed in B-movies and snow and skateboard videos. The most random and unusual places: that is where you will find Kepi and his 'Ghoulie Family'. Let's relive the magic that provided part of the soundtrack to the lives of so many Southern Californians. It was a scene which grew into part of the East Bay Pop Punk sound, to Asian Man records and now on into the Burger Records generation! Hail Hail Flying Saucer Rock n Roll! Everything Will Be Alright In The EndLos Angeles, CA's Weezer will release their highly anticipated ninth album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, on Republic Records. Produced by Ric Ocasek, who previously helmed production on the band's first and third records (''The Blue Album'' and ''The Green Album''), Everything Will Be Alright In The End is the band's first collection of new material in four years.
Since forming in 1992, Weezer has released a myriad of celebrated, chart-topping albums, selling over 13 million records worldwide. Following an intensely prolific couple years at the end of the aughts, the band chose to deliberately dial down the tempo in 2010, a move singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo says allowed him to write at a slower pace, giving the songs he wanted to use for an album the time to gradually grow into their final forms. He started almost every song on the piano, eventually transferring them to the guitar before taking them to the band. When it came time to record the material, Weezer reunited with the man who helped them make some of their most iconic album-length work, Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. The resulting album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, is a stand-out gem in Weezer's vast and varied catalogue, a reflection of a much-loved band at their very best. Organized thematically around three groups of songs, it is an album that utilizes that sound from the band's earliest days to tell new stories in 2014, creating some of the finest, most heartfelt songs Weezer has ever recorded.1. Days To Come (Awaiting Repress)Simon Green aka Bonobo's third album represents the kind of quantum leap in quality that very few artists make. 'Days To Come' has the feeling of a classic all over - a big, brooding, emotional and uplifting record that you can dance to, do the dishes to, or sit and really study.
Green has always been expert at welding together music dripping with atmosphere, combining his own musical and technical talents in such a way as to make utterly organic-sounding machine music. This is not just a knob-twiddling producer but a multi-instrumentalist at work, who writes, plays and then manipulates almost every note of music he releases. And 'Days To Come' shows a new structural awareness growing from this, a feeling for the song form and the gradual build which raises it way above the work of many of his contemporaries and cries out for him to achieve the kind of mainstream success that his talent has long hinted at.
Bonobo's debut album, 'Animal Magic', was released by Brighton label TruThoughts just as the journalistic vogue for 'chill out' music began to peak. Having rejected the advances of more than one major label, Green decided to sign with Ninja Tune and produced 'Dial 'M' For Monkey', a brooding and intricate record which not only continued his move away from traditional sampling techniques, but broadsided the idea that he only made music for people to listen to in transcendental bubble bath yurts. Now, with 'Days To Come', the processes and techniques he developed on the transitional 'Dial 'M'' have reached fruition.
Rather than turning himself into a producer-for-hire on his own record and delivering a compilation album, Green found one main singer to work with, and her voice certainly adds that crucial edge to proceedings. Bajka (pronounced 'Biker') grew up as part of Embryo, a travelling music commune, whose journies took them through Afghanistan, Nepal and Pakistan. A smokey, soulful singer, she sounds as at home on the big band soul-jazz of 'Between The Lines' as on the more melancholic Nightlite'. Green is also joined by labelmate and fellow Brightonian Fink on the beautiful come-on 'If You Stayed Over', a gem of emotional pop that sees both artists at the top of their game.
Green hasn't abandoned the instrumentals, though. 'Ketto' arrives with a dreamlike intensity, 'On Your Marks' hits with the all the force of early-era Shadow, while Part 2 of 'Transmissions94' is amongst the most beautiful and transcendent music that this quiet and self-effacing producer has crafted.1. One Lovely DayDug deep into the rich soil of American music, Cope's roots are complex. You may think of Bill Withers or Neil Young or John Lee Hooker or Van Morrison or Willie Nelson or Al Green. Yet, listening to Cope, you also may think none of the above. You may not think at all, but rather feel a man exposing stories that haunt his heart.
He was born Clarence Greenwood, a child of the '70s, and his life journey is as singular as his art. He is the radically mashed-up product of Greenville, Mississippi; Memphis, Tennessee; Vernon, Texas; Washington, DC; and Brooklyn, New York. These locations are felt everywhere in his stories. His sounds are southern rural, big sky lonely, concrete urban, and painfully romantic. In the past nine years, he has produced four albums of depth and distinction, each a critical chapter in his search for a sound that paints an auditory American landscape in which despair wars with hope, tied to love, is elusive.
Cope's musical evolution was catch-as-catch can. Folk tales, whether through William Faulkner or Big Bill Broonzy, shaped his sensitivity. A few college courses at Texas Tech alternately bored and excited him. In Austin in the '80s, he took sound classes and found himself fooling with a primitive four-track setup. Turntables intrigued him. He heard hip hop as inspired invention. For years, he got lost in his self-designed lab, cooking up beats and motifs that only later would be shaped into songs. This, his new album, One Lovely Day is anchored by the yearning title track single which features some of his finest songwriting to date.1. One Lovely Day

Al Green Greatest HitsRanked 52/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Al Green was the first great soul singer of the '70s and arguably the last great Southern soul singer. With his seductive singles for Hi Records in the early '70s, Green bridged the gap between deep soul and smooth Philadelphia soul. He incorporated elements of gospel, interjecting his performances with wild moans and wails, but his records were stylish, boasting immaculate productions that rolled along with a tight beat, sexy backing vocals, and lush strings. The distinctive Hi Records sound that the vocalist and producer Willie Mitchell developed made Al Green the most popular and influential soul singer of the early '70s. Greatest Hits epitomizes that trademark sound with 10 of the R&B legends' all-time classics.1. Tired Of Being Alone
