    Grease Soundtrack

In 1978 the Grease soundtrack became a phenomenon. Its good-natured combination of doo wop and early rock & roll is infectious and charming, due in no small part to John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John's charismatic, engaging performances. They sing the majority of the tracks including Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, You're the One That I Want, Greased Lightnin' and more. Available on standard weight vinyl in a gatefold package.

    Groove Grease (Awaiting Repress)

This 1971 session finds McGriff continuing to do like so many other jazz musicians of the time: embrace and adapt to the emergence of funk and soul into mainstream music, and recontextualize it in a jazz arena. The results are an unsurprisingly delicious slice of jazz-funk made from the finest ingredients. The superb playing of Richard Davis on electric bass is unquestionably the anchor throughout the album's nine slices, leaving McGriff and company to follow suit with loose (but not too far out) improvisation that's as equally relaxing as it is invigorating. While McGriff's adventurous side is slightly tamed, it's that willingness to improv and blend together as a cohesive unit that makes Groove Grease such a tasty statement that is consistently fresh with repeated listenings. Get Your Wings

Remastered from the original source tapes!

Contains the classics Same Old Song And Dance, Train Kept A-Rollin' and Seasons of Wither

Often overshadowed by the subsequent twin highlights of Toys in the Attic and Rocks, Aerosmith's 1974 second album, Get Your Wings, is where Aerosmith became Aerosmith -- it's where they teamed up with producer Jack Douglas, it's where they shed much of their influences and developed their own trademark sound, it's where they turned into songwriters, it's where Steven Tyler unveiled his signature obsessions with sex and sleaze. Chief among these attributes may be Douglas, who either helped the band ease into the studio or captured their sound in a way their debut never did. This is a leaner, harder album, bathed in grease and layered in grit, but it's not just down to Douglas. The band itself sounds more distinctive. There are blues in Joe Perry and Joey Kramer's interplay, but this leapfrogs over blues-rock; it turns into slippery hard rock. To be sure, it's still easy to hear the Stones here, but they never really sound Stonesy; there's almost more of the Yardbirds to the way the group works the riffs, particularly evident on the cover of the early 'Birds classic The Train Kept a Rollin'. But if the Yardbirds were tight and nervy, Aerosmith is blown out and loose, the sound of excess incarnate -- that is, in every way but the writing itself, which is confident and strong, fueled by Tyler's gonzo sex drive. He is the Lord of the Thighs, playing that Same Old Song and Dance, but he also slows down enough for the eerie Seasons of Wither, a powerful slow-churning ballad whose mastery of atmosphere is a good indication of how far the band has grown. They never attempted anything quite so creepy on their debut, but it isn't just that Aerosmith is trying newer things on Get Your Wings, it's that they're doing their bloozy bluster better and bolder, which is what turns this sophomore effort into their first classic.

...it's cheap and it really, really works...I cleaned some dirty, fingerprint-encrusted records, and when I removed them from the vat, all dirt and fingerprints were gone...not everyone wants to spend hundreds of bucks on a vacuum machine, and the Spin Clean got the job done.

    - Michael Fremer, Stereophile, February 2010

The Spin-Clean System comes with Record Washer, 4 ounce bottle of Record Cleaning Concentrate, 1 pair of Washer Brushes, 1 pair of Washer Rollers, 1 pair of Drying Cloths and instructions (in the lid).

Simply mix the record cleaning solution with water in the tank, rotate the record through the solution and a pair of record brushes located on each side scrub the record clean, then remove the record, place on flat surface and wipe dry with the drying cloth, flip over and wipe dry the other side.

These superb live performances were broadcast from a hometown gig in Hollywood and another in Berkeley, California exactly one month later, in late 1994 - a pivotal year for Hole. Vocalist and songwriter, Courtney Love - claiming to be influenced by an unholy trinity of Big Black, Sonic Youth and Fleetwood Mac - had formed the band five years earlier, in Los Angeles in 1989 with Eric Erlandson.

    Women And Children First

Welsh band ANCIENT GREASE played a for that time very trendy heavy blues-rock with a shot of prog. Women and Children First was supposed to appear on the legendary Vertigo Swirl label, but at the last moment, the record company decided otherwise, and so the album was released in summer 1970 on Mercury Records. In the USA it appeared with a different cover artwork. Now here's this cult album back on vinyl for the first time for over 40 years, on 180 gram vinyl. For the first time in gatefold cover. Sunny Side Up

In the late fifties and early sixties, alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson recorded primarily with his own quartet with pianist Herman Foster or with organ trios. Occasionally, he'd break the mold as he did on this February, 1960 session that was strictly a hard bop affair which includes trumpeter Bill Hardman and pianist Horace Parlan. There's still plenty of funk in evidence as Goose Grease bears out, but Hardman's Politely, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise and The Man I Love find Lou digging deep into his bop roots.

    Bump City

Bump City is the second album by the long living Bay Area based Soul Funk group Tower Of Power, released in 1972. Tower Of Power are best known for their funky Soul sound highlighted by a powerful horn section and precisely syncopated bass-guitar lines.

One of their biggest hits came off the album: You're Still A Young Man, recorded in Memphis and with Rick Stevens as lead vocalist. The production and arrangements were much improved over the debut album East Bay Grease from 1970, as was the engineering and overall technical quality. Their lines were crisper, the unison and ensemble passages much sharper, and they were beginning to round into shape.

The album was the first to make an impact in the band's early days, and paved the way to their mid Seventies success with subsequent albums like their self titled third album and Back To Oakland from 1974, both of which feature Lenny Williams on lead vocals.

    Mono

Rooted in the steamy backroads of Texas and deep-fried at a Memphis recording studio, Joseph's Stoned Age Man was served up like a sizzling hot rattlesnake appetizer slathered in fuzz-blooz grease in 1969. Legend has it that the titles of eight of the album's nine songs came before they were written on the spot, which speaks volumes for the talents of Joseph (aka, Joseph Longeria) - who A&R man Steve Tyrell signed to Scepter Records after witnessing the Lone Star State bluesman gig with B.B. King and T-Bone Burnett. Brandishing his guitar like a Cro-Magnon's club, Joseph mixes his fuzzy licks with meat-grinder vocals as he loudly ruminates of fattened snakes, fish heads, mountains, cavemen and gumbo in the maddest peyote hallucination Alley Oop never had. Long revered among collectors, this fine slab o' rock gets its first-ever reissue from the original masters, pressed at RTI onto 180 grams of cold hard vinyl that'll rip your turntable from its hinges.

    In Philadelphia

In Philadelphia is the eleventh studio album by Wilson Pickett released in 1970. In 1970, Pickett decided to move with the times and headed to Philadelphia to work with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The result was Wilson Pickett In Philadelphia.

It may not have seemed like an ideal match on paper, but in the studio the results were inspiring. Gamble and Huff kept the studio band on the good foot at all times and Pickett's always passionate and forceful performance added whatever grease that might have been missing from the Philly session cats. Good and popular songs on the album are Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You, Get Me Back On Time, and Help The Needy.

The album reached number 12 on the soul albums chart in the United States. Engine Number 9 (the long version includes the massive drum break) charted at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the R&B Singles chart. Amongst others, credits go to Ron Baker, Roland Chambers, Ugene Dozier, and Bobby Eli.

    Bo Diddley

From The Original Chess/Checker Masters In Glorious Mono

Faithful Reproduction Of The Original Artwork

Music historians have wasted so many perfectly good words trying to explain the significance of Bo Diddley. "Bo Diddley liberated the blues from the 12-bar form and melded it to an insistent, infectious rhumba beat," they bleat. "Diddley was the progenitor of all that was to come in the evolution of rock and roll," blah blah blah blah.

Listen: Why is eating a plateful of ribs and dripping all over your hands and clothes fun? BECAUSE IT JUST IS. Why is walking around with cotton candy in one hand and a blue, helium-filled balloon on a string in the other fun? BECAUSE IT JUST IS. Bo Diddley is fun BECAUSE HE JUST IS. Bo Diddley (the album) was rock and roll's Big Bang, dripping with sinew and grease and humor and understated swagger. The simplest ingredients - a guitar, a drum, and some maracas - were packed in a gunny sack and slung over the shoulder of some smiling guy with a slick process and a wild plaid jacket, who took it and ran headfirst into oncoming traffic. Reckless, yet crazy cool. He made it sound easy. Geniuses can do that.

No doctoral thesis will explain Bo Diddley, the man or "Bo Diddley," the album. You won't find the answer in some scholarly article called "The Epistomological Roots of 'Diddy Wah Diddy' or something like that, in your dog-eared copy of the Journal of the American Institute of Ethnomusicology.

    Bo Diddley just is.

Bo Diddley. (the album) is not an option, it's mandatory. We'll be imposing fines on anyone who thinks otherwise, so best to pick up a copy if for no other reason than to avoid a big hassle later on. We're not kidding.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes

NEKROMANTIX is a musical unearthing of the biggest themes from the greatest works of monster, zombie, vampire, werewolf and b-horror fiction; ripped from literature, comic book pages or classic celluloid. NEKROMANTIX chases a darkly romantic muse with an even darker humor.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes broadens the NEKROMANTIX legacy with expansive ambition that never sacrifices the trio's inherent grittiness, furiously stoking and reshaping the flames of the creative vision begun in Denmark with legendary labels like Nervous Records, through the band's master classes in punk n' roll albums stateside with Hellcat Records, the label cofounded by Tim Armstrong and Brett Gurewitz.

Armed with his signature coffn bass, chilling baritone, monstrous expressions and ten-stories-tall haircut, Kim Nekroman has earned tremendous respect, admiration and goodwill from a fiercely dedicated legion of hard-partiers, rabble-rousers, well-meaning degenerates, grease monkeys, outlaw bikers, nostalgic tastemakers and forward-thinking punks. It's a crew of supporters as diverse as the otherwise classic and timeless music the Danish-born California transplant has unleashed as leader of NEKROMANTIX.

Nekroman has been joined by skilled guitarist Francisco Mesa for nearly a decade now, with drummer Adam Guerrero bringing a fresh injection of passionate enthusiasm to the band in 2014. A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes is a fertile proving ground for a reenergized lineup that fans of the band have already loved for two years. New songs like "Glow in the Dark," "War Bats" and "Resting Witch Face" are instant classics, standing mightily alongside the greatest NEKROMANTIX songs enduring in their set list.

To their dedicated army of supporters around the world and across every dimension, NEKROMANTIX stands tall among the ghosts in rock n' roll's undead cemetery.

The Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell are the last of a dying breed of Grease Rock Bastard musicians who somehow, despite and in spite of the last 3 decades trying their best to kill off balls out, non-bullshit rock'n'roll music, somehow, against all the fucking odds, still exist, surviving on a steady diet of God sent gigs, hire vans, broken down amps, split drum skins, greasy spoon fry ups, patched up jeans, roll-ups, cheap leather jackets, booze, weed and bathtub speed.

Spare them your sympathy - no-one made the silly bastards do it. They just NEED to!! Right??

Facts to face - the Shovell are named after a 17th century English naval commander; Bill Darlington plays drums, Louis Comfort-Wiggett plays bass and Johnny Gorilla plays guitar and sings, they have been together as a band since 2008.

Their debut 2011 Rise Above 7, Return To Zero'/'Day After Day, sold out instantly and now commands £100 plus a copy; their 2012 debut long-player DON'T HEAR IT FEAR IT received unilateral rave reviews and was described pretty accurately by one scribe as 'the aural equivalent of stumbling into an 18 year-old male's bedsit in 1973 - the kind of greasy hard-rock thrills rarely heard in this climate of blind nostalgia and misjudged authenticity. It's hard 'n' heavy, without the marshmallow; it's old-fashioned yet so NOW that it hurts!''
They've toured and played with the likes of Orange Goblin, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Incredible Hog, Gentlemans Pistols, Graveyard, Gonga and countless more, toured Europe and had chief Groundhog Tony McPhee playing on their first LP!

On their new LP CHECK 'EM BEFORE YOU WRECK 'EM the Shovell somehow carry on the lineage of the truly golden age of British heavy rock whose dog shit stained road was paved by the likes of Budgie, Sabbath, early Motorhead, Quo, Lizzy, The Groundhogs, Stray etc. Chuck in a healthy chunk of U.S. and Aussie proto metallurgists Sir Lord Baltimore, Dust, Bang, The Litter and Buffalo, as well as a healthy Vertigo 'Swirl' of dew picked mushrooms bad trip psych.

The Shovell thinks the world could do with another slice of no-nonsense re-gressive proto-rock 'n'metal - one that you don't need a Degree in doom-rock or a Masters in metal to appreciate - just a love of when music was F U N !!!!

Remember kids - CHECK 'EM BEFORE YOU WRECK 'EM!!!

    Phosphorescent Harvest

The CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD unveil their third studio album PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST via Silver Arrow Records. The band--Chris Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys, vocals), George Sluppick (drums) and Mark Dutton (bass, vocals)--will also hit the road in conjunction with the album's release.

PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST is a treasure trove of 10 songs--including several the band road-tested over the last few years--that advances the band's kaleidoscopic sound, which is deeply soulful, rootsy and spacey all at once. There's strong songcraft here, with a free-flowing delivery; it is music that is in no hurry to reach its destination but firmly knows where it is going. From the beginning, the CRB set out to do something different from what they had done before, creating their own scene with a musical prowess, cohesive songwriting and a unified commitment to experimentation, both in the studio and on the road (they've performed over 230 shows since forming in 2011).

The best perspective I have on what's going on in my life--good and bad--is what comes out in the songs, says Chris Robinson. As you move on in time, you get older, you have relationships. Some of them are good, some fail. Friends. Drugs. Life. Death. People come, people go. Songwriting is a completely different emotional response to your life and to what it means, to in some poetic nature, put it out there.

PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST follows the release of the companion albums Big Moon Ritual (June 2012) and The Magic Door (September 2012) plus last year's live quadruple vinyl Betty's S.F. Blends, Vol 1. The group continues to record with producer Thom Monahan, and Robinson wrote all of the songs with Casal, save for two that are Robinson solo compositions (Tornado, Jump The Turnstiles).

We're really going by the electricity and the vibrations that we can sort of tune in to, Robinson recently told Relix magazine (Jan/Feb '14). There's a psychedelic component to it. That's part of the greasing the wheels of the great cosmic engine, with psychedelic thought and philosophy and action. If you get my drift. He went on to talk about the more rock and roll feel on PHOSPHORESCENT HARVEST, and his overall vision for the Brotherhood: I'm not going to have hit records. I don't write pop songs. But then again, I find a deep need to express myself and how I'm feeling and where I am and where I've been and where I'm going by writing songs. Why change something to make it easier for anyone else, when I think if we stay sincere and keep our energies in a real creative place, then people will wander into our small community, and it maybe would get more popular to tend that garden is a great responsibility. But I want it to grow. Check out the whole Relix feature here.

Rolling Stone editor David Fricke picked the CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD as one of his favorites of 2012, and praised their live performance in New York City, saying the singer's acid-country Brotherhood, with ex-Ryan Adams guitarist Neal Casal, were a sublime time onstage and across these two albums, recorded at the same sessions and issued six months apart. The Irving Plaza show was a characteristic live high. In the second set, Robinson steered out of a rattling 'Tough Mama,' from Bob Dylan's Planet Waves, into the long reverie 'Girl on the Mountain,' a song from an earlier side trip, New Earth Mud, given fresh air and a new coat of DayGlo paint (1/30/13).

    Weatherhead

Weatherhead is the sophomore album from Helms Alee. Their gamut of timbres from the most guttural blown-out roar to the most graceful lilting melody summon a sense of triumph, empowerment and conquest.

The relentless chugging fuzz and vocal harmonies of Elbow Grease, the concrete thrust of the central riff of 8/16, the thunderstruck arpeggio of Pretty As Pie, the siren song of Pig Pile, the unbridled scuzz of Ripper No Lube and the alternating agit-punk and anthemic approach of the title track all reinforce Helms Alees position as masters of diametrically opposed tactics.

They are the true heroes and heroines of the loud-quiet-loud. Weatherhead was recorded by Matt Bayles at Studio Litho and Red Room Studios in the Winter of 2010-2011.

    Far As I Can See

Matt Schofield is a modern blues guitarist in the truest sense of the word. He takes the forms and themes from his heroes and screws with them. His latest album, Far As I Can See, is a fiercely individual collection of tunes that ranges from odd-time shuffles, to Hendrixian explorations, and even some NOLA funk. In order to capture the best guitar tone he could for this album, Schofield enlisted his guitar tech and FOH sound engineer Simon Law and Schofield's tone throughout is muscular and clear with just enough gain to give each note a bounce. On Getaway, a funky jam in 7/8, the rhythm section does a masterful job of making an odd-time groove actually groove.

The Maceo-meets-TOP feel that propels Hindsight pushes Schofield to play more jazz-inspired lines with a burning syncopation that drips with plenty of East Bay grease. The classic Neville Brothers track Yellow Moon gets an updated reading with a new arrangement (and some great rhythm guitar work) while the Texas rocker Tell Me Some Lies is straight out of the Vaughan family playbook. For fans of the more sophisticated blues/rock of players like Robben Ford and Scott Henderson, Schofield is worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with the best of the genre.

    Carousel

Jerry Paper is the sonic caricature of New York-based musician Lucas Nathan. Brought into the world after Nathan's previous, more abstract projects dissolved into the ether, Jerry Paper represents a cartoonish vision of Self materialized through Jerry's bizarre vision of pop music. Nathan's latest full-length under the Jerry Paper moniker, Carousel, combines his fascination with synthetic reproductions of real instruments with his own brand of philosophical meditations. The album furthers the effort to make goofy sounds into serious music through the juxtaposition of idiosyncratic lyrics, sounds, and structures within the grammar of pop music. That being said, the album is much more than the sum of it's parts. Like his other releases, Carousel is meant to be taken not so much song-by-song but as a complete piece. Weaving through themes of greed, corruption, waste, impermanence, and belief, the listener is presented with a world of piggies, cockroaches, and garbage people set to a soundtrack of quasi-orchestral synth madness, a kind of saccharine sheen that you're not sure is cleanliness or grease; all you can be sure of is that you're riding out Jerry's trip.

Kinky Boots - Original Broadway Cast Recording

Inspired by a true story and based on the Miramax motion picture written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, Kinky Boots, features a warm and witty book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage, Torch Song Trilogy, Hairspray, Newsies) and a richly diverse musical score from Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, in her stunning theatrical debut. The production is directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, La Cage, Broadway Bares).

In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Tony® Award nominee Stark Sands - American Idiot, Journey's End) has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Billy Porter Dreamgirls, Grease). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System

Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Will Clean All of Your Contacts and Connectors to Insure Nothing Gets Between You and Your Music!

Mobile Fidelity proudly introduces the Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System, the absolutely best way to clean audio contacts. This formula has been used in many mission-critical applications as well as by very well-known recording studios since the mid-1990s and is now available to help wring the fullest potential out of audiophile equipment.

Audio professionals are keenly aware that dirty contacts are a source of amusical distortion robbing their recordings of power, clarity, and musicality. Sound engineers use Sonic Connect on every metal-metal connection in both cabling and recording equipment: microphone XLR connectors, signal cable connectors, AC outlets and plugs, 2-inch open reel mastering decks and many others. Several hydroelectric dams use this solution to clean oxidation from their large power distribution lines to ensure maximum conductivity and reduce down time.

Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System is a 2-step process. Step One is a solution designed to remove oxidation from metal parts. Step Two is a powerful solvent which removes grease, oils and other contaminants that impede and distort signal flow. In combination, SONIC CONNECT removes more and leaves less residue than any other contact cleaner we've used. Hear music and see video without the grunge and veiling introduced by dirty contacts. Once connections are fully cleaned with Sonic Connect, a contact enhancer may be used, if desired.

We recommend cleaning connections with Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning at least twice a year, more often if the equipment is in humid or very dusty environments. Analog lovers, call us today to find out how your system can benefit from Mobile Fidelity SONIC CONNECT Cleaning System!
