    Midnight Express - Soundtrack

Available On Vinyl For The First Time Since 1978

Music By Giorgio Moroder (Donna Summer, Daft Punk)

Oscar Winner For Best Original Score (1978)

    Remastered With Deluxe Obi Strip

Available on vinyl for the first time since its original 1978 release, Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack to Midnight Express features an
array of exploratory synthesizer pieces (including "Wheel" and "Cacaphoney") as well as its opener, "Chase." One of Moroder's
biggest hits, which bounces back and forth between melodic disco and hypnotic sequencer trance. The album has been
remastered, repackaged with original art and a deluxe obi strip to be released on May 19, 2015 via The Control Group.

    Forever (Box Set)

Limited Edition 4 LP Box Set

Includes Additional Bonus 12" Single Of William Orbit Mix Of "Let Me In Your Heart Again"

Having in the three months since its original release already provided Queen with their twenty fifth top ten album and twenty sixth UK gold album, Queen's current best selling compilation package Queen Forever is to receive a special limited edition vinyl release coming this spring.

The original 36 track 2 CD Queen Forever release will now be made available as a strictly limited 4 LP vinyl box set which includes an additional 12" single bonus disc exclusive to the set featuring a special William Orbit mix of the only recently heard Freddie Mercury track "Let Me In Your Heart Again".

The Orbit mix was held back from the Forever CD release and only surfaced for a limited period to support the Coca-Cola (RED) AIDS awareness campaign mounted at the tail end of last year.

The B side of the 12" single has a further bonus feature exclusive to this box set - a laser etching of the box set cover illustration.

Distinguishing itself as the first Queen album to feature new Freddie Mercury led tracks since the band's 1995 Made In Heaven album, Queen Forever brings out into the light the long anticipated track from Queen and Michael Jackson, 'There Must Be More to Life Than This', an unfinished Mercury-Queen track 'Let Me In Your Heart Again' originating from the band's The Works album recording sessions (featured on this vinyl package in a newly available William Orbit mix) and a new ballad version of Mercury's first solo hit, his Giorgio Moroder collaboration, 'Love Kills', which is currently being heavily played at UK and European radio.

The rest of the package mixes Queen hits, classic tracks and celebrates the extraordinary musical path of one of the world's greatest rock bands. Reaching back as far as 1974 with fan favourite Nevermore, a Freddie Mercury song originally included on Queen II, Queen Forever progresses to feature songs that spotlight the band's songwriting prowess, studio experimentation and remarkable development, and is completed with latter-day Queen hits, including '91's no. 1 These Are The Days Of Our Lives and '95's Too Much Love Will Kill You, together with the poignant A Winter's Tale, recorded during Freddie Mercury's final Queen recording sessions in Montreux in 1991.

Queen Forever is a thrilling showcase for exclusive new Queen recordings but equally as much a paean to the extraordinary musical achievements of John Deacon, Brian May, Roger Taylor and the late Freddie Mercury, whose singular talent we again get to marvel at through this meticulously presented 36 track collection.

    Escape Velocity (Awaiting Repress)

Escape Velocity sees Zombi return to their roots, using synth and drums to create stirring melodies and moving cadences. Whereas earlier efforts found the band entrenched in Italian horror scores, Escape Velocity finds Zombi continuing their exploration of famed Italian record producer Giorgio Moroder and legendary kraut rock icons Neu and Harmonia. The sweeping synth sequences and pulsing rhythms are sometimes dancey, sometimes reflective, but always hypnotic under the watchful eye of this distinguished duo. Escape Velocity's five ethereal tracks are simply put, celestial music for other worlds.

    Scarface Soundtrack

The soundtrack to the 1983 motion picture starring Al Pacino featured a variety of pop artists like Blondie's Deborah Harry, Elizabeth Daily, Mrs. Michael McDonald Amy Holland (who at the time had made a solo name for herself) and incidental themes by Italian electronic maestro Giorgio Moroder.

In later years, the songs here were used in the video game Grand Theft Auto 3, which brought them to an entirely new audience a generation later.

    Lesser Unknown

Baltimore and Wham City resident Adventure's 2008 self-titled debut was an energetic journey through the outer expanses of an SID chip, an experience that took listeners whizzing over pixelated mountains and explored the darker corners of the most modernized urban setting.

This limited tonal range and lack of human vocals (save for a few dialogue samples from Bladerunner) may have made the music of Adventure seem a bit cold or impersonal, but on his newest release, Lesser Known, Benny Boeldt has brightened up his sound, adding soaring synth blasts and maximalist flourishes a la M83.

The airy snare and pulsing bass that open the album act as fanfare, like Boeldt welcoming the listener into the spacious new environment of Lesser Known. His aesthetic remains grounded in the 1980s, but the songs sound more like retro-futuristic radio hits than the arcade conjuring modulations of his first release. On tracks like Fool's Paradise and Smoke and Mirrors, Boeldt splits the difference between New Order and Nu Shooz, creating a sound that could please even the most cynical bedroom moper while gratifying any party-goer who's simply looking to dance.

Those fearing a record of wistful '80s pop facsimiles will be pleased to hear tunes like Relax the Mind and Lights Out connecting the dots that link Giorgio Moroder and his modern hit-making scion Dr. Luke. Dance beats permeate the bulk of Lesser Known, but the two closing songs introduce pensive atmospheres, perhaps laying the framework for Boeldt's future musical ventures.

Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance

"The Scottish indie-pop group has managed to
build a fan base the old-fashioned way: by writing
old-fashioned songs, the kind that brim with
    melody, sensitivity, cleverness, sophistication, and
sheer beauty. It's hard to imagine groups like The
Shins, Arcade Fire, or Vampire Weekend sounding
like they do without its influence"
    - Entertainment Weekly

Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance is the longawaited
follow-up to 2010's Write About Love.
Produced and mixed at Maze Studios in Atlanta
by Ben H. Allen III, best known for his work with
Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, and Raury,
among others, the band - who have been
listening to things like vintage Detroit techno
and Giorgio Moroder - have brought a danceparty
element into their gorgeous tales of
sensitive souls navigating a world gone awry. It
is perhaps the most inspired and wide-reaching
album Belle and Sebastian have ever made.

Given that band leader Stuart Murdoch has
    openly declared himself pro-bubblegum before,
it shouldn't come as a surprise that 'Enter Sylvia
Plath', 'The Book Of You' and 'Play For Today' have
keyboard hooks that recall Scandinavian pop
machines past and present. The filmic loves,
kitchen sink imagery and baroque touches are
still there, too, don't worry. It's all about trusting
in the restorative power of pop music. If you'd
trust anyone to write a great Europop song
about Sylvia Plath, you'd trust Belle & Sebastian.

    Impressions

The Los Angeles trio Music Go Music began humbly, recording songs in their spare time and playing them for friends. A few songs posted online caught the ears of a surprising number of strangers, who implored the band to make a go of it. They eventually, and reluctantly, agreed to this, and before long the show had been officially taken on the road; MGM was being buzzed about, flying back and forth across the the Atlantic, touring around with Glasgow rockers Franz Ferdinand, and performing for the most discerning of music lovers in Moscow, London, LA, and points in between. Their debut album Expressions was a warmly received dance-pop-prog excursion that drew apt comparisons to Abba, Kate Bush, Bonnie Tyler, and Giorgio Moroder. After things settled down and they got back to their workaday lives, they began chipping away at a new record. In the course of several years, one or two songs at a time, 'Impressions' took shape. By now, the world has swayed in ways that seemed unlikely back at the band's dawning. When their first EPs began coming out in 2007, MGM was an anomaly; a real band capable of crafting a steady stream of hook-dense A-sides, who played honest-to-goodness live dance music. This time around, of course, they're sending a record out into a world that has turned just enough to embrace the kind of analog disco that MGM has been making for years. While remaining unambiguously pop, Impressions sees the group's aural sheen and careworn elegance joined to deeper grooves and oblique sonic turns. Never before, though, has an unhinged recounting of love won and lost been so blatantly entertaining. It's an assured, kinetic journey through light and dark, calm and chaos, with nothing less than pop transcendence waiting on the other side.

Mates Of State Mountaintops on Limited Edition White Vinyl LP + MP3

2000 Limited Edition Copies on Numbered White Vinyl w/ Diecut Jackets

Mates of State have made a new album called Mountaintops. You already love Jason and Koris unmistakable music, or perhaps youve managed to miss out or have simply misunderstood just how great, and yes influential, they and their sound and their songs are. You throw this record on the stereo and the first thing you notice is the energy and force of it. Go slightly deeper and you find the song-craft. You find that Kori is one of the best female singers in modern music (and Jason is also no slouch). You notice the effortless way their voices harmonize and volley back and forth, the movements within the song, the way they move from upbeat to pastoral so fluidly that you dont perceive it happening.

Through the years, the textures have become more intricate, deeper. Song-wise, all of the big ideas come to the surface: hope, grief, regret, gratitude, fate, the inevitability of change, the redemption of change, not carrying around the garbage of the past. There is a melancholy to much of their music that is sometimes ignored, and that often marks some of their best moments. Switching between the melancholy and buoyantly hopeful is another specialty of theirs, one that they really nail on Mountaintops.

I know I have to be careful of what I write here, because it may be repeated to Jason and Kori a few hundred times, but I hear a lot of ABBA in their songs. Like ABBA, they write sophisticated boy-girl pop performed so flawlessly that you think it must be easy (but its not easy). I hear some of the early work of Giorgio Moroder, and I hear some of the more timeless 80s pop, like This Is The Day by The The. I hear some classic Kirsty MacColl in Sway. I hear some of Nick Lowes effortless appropriation of classic pop forms. Sometimes I hear the Valley Girl soundtrack, one of my all-time favorites, in a song like Basement Money. Desire could have been a big hit for The Carpenters. They touch on so much of what has been great in the last 50 years of pop music, all viewed through the Mates of State filter. Most of all, they have actually built their own sound. They sound like themselves. - AC Newman

    Ritualize

    ...attitude-thick rapping...with gorgeous
    production...
    - The New York Times

    "Lushlife is an under-the-radar treasure"
    - Stereogum

From the moment you hear the bristling boom-bap chorus on album-opener
Totally Mutual Feeling, it's apparent that Lushlife's third full-length finds the
Philadelphia rapper-producer at his most introspective. Themes of isolation and
mortality permeate Ritualize, a cinematic hour-long odyssey co-produced by
enigmatic production trio, CSLSX (pronounced Casual Sex) and featuring
contributions from Ariel Pink, Killer Mike, Freeway, Marissa Nadler, RJD2, and
more. With CSLSX at the boards, an entire universe opens up for Lush, where
the pulsating Juno synths of '80s LA night music sit side-by-side with
gorgeously propulsive indie-leaning jams, and low-fi soul burners too. The
resulting LP is a post-blog-era joint that seems to exhale the whole of the 20th
century in a single, fascinating breath.

After toiling over two self-produced LPs in the last half-decade, I felt
compelled to bring on an outside production team for Ritualize, Lushlife
(born Raj Haldar) explains. Not only did I want to broaden the musical
palette, but I felt like the group production effort would give me a depth of
focus on lyrical content and emotion that I hadn't previously been afforded.
After a chance encounter with CSLSX, who had been quietly self-releasing
low-fi dance gems to remarkable organic blog buzz, the newly-formed team
set out on a three-year journey that would eventually yield their new joint
album. By the time work began on Ritualize, Lush had already been riding a
small wave of critical acclaim for his 2012 full-length, Plateau Vision, an album
that made several year-end lists and was described by the Sunday New York
Times as a melding of captivating rhymes with audacious, gorgeous production.
Still, with Ritualize, Lushlife and CSLSX seem to have gone one deeper.

From album cut, The Waking World, which finds Lushlife spitting thorough
sixteens from the vantage of Mark David Chapman lying in wait for John
Lennon, to Incantation, a song that's as much inspired by Allen Ginsberg's
Howl as the general, street-level anxieties of urban life, Ritualize is nothing short
of a step forward. For proof, look no further than Toynbee Suite, a 10-minute,
4-movement rap epic that explores the strange Toynbee Tile meta-art
conspiracy that has captivated Philadelphians for decades. As the centerpiece
of the album, Toynbee Suite was the subject of a 2013 documentary, and
itself represents the combined work of 20+ musicians, including RJD2, Nightlands,
Yikes the Zero, and a full chamber orchestra. On the other hand, the
CSLSX-produced, Hong Kong (Lady of Love), a collaboration with weird
music godhead, Ariel Pink, is a sparse yet powerful four-on-the-floor ode to LA,
inspired by the film soundtrack work of Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, and others.

Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles (Box Set)

Box Set Features 13 x 7" Singles On Colored Vinyl

Includes Booklet Featuring Previously Unpublished Photos

Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.

He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who reveled in his own contradictions.

All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. Fittingly released on Mercury Records for the world outside North America, and on Hollywood Records in North America, this box set brings together all 13 of Freddie's solo singles on individually coloured vinyl.

From his debut solo single I Can Hear Music, released under the name Larry Lurex, through the dance floor-influenced solo anthems of the 80s and up to his collaborations with legendary Spanish opera singer Montserrat CaballÉ including the timeless Barcelona, this is a journey through the career of a unique talent.

Born Farrokh Bulsara on the East African island of Zanzibar on September 5, 1946, the rechristened Freddie Mercury was already a star in his own mind by the time he formed Queen with Brian May and Roger Taylor in 1970. Where his band mates had studied astrophysics, dentistry and electronics at college, Freddie majored in stardom.

His first solo single actually emerged a week before Queen's own debut 7". Released in 1973 and credited to Larry Lurex in a nod to the fashionably flamboyant noms de rock of the glam era, the Beach Boys cover I Can Hear Music and its B-side, Goin' Back, were recorded as a favour towards a musical project by Trident Studios' house engineer Robin Geoffrey Cable, in 1972.

As Queen's career rocketed towards the heavens, Freddie poured his energies into the band. It would be more than a decade before he released his second solo single, the pulsating, electronic Love Kills. Originally released in 1984, Love Kills was a collaboration with famed Italian disco producer Giorgio Moroder for the soundtrack to Moroder's update of the groundbreaking 1927 silent movie Metropolis. A Top 10 UK hit, it found Freddie moving away from Queen's traditional sound, paving the way for what he would do next.

Released in 1985, Freddie's debut solo album, Mr Bad Guy, fully explored the music he had fallen in love with in the dance clubs of Munich and New York. The four hit singles released from that album - I Was Born To Love You, Made In Heaven, Living On My Own and Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow, all of which are included in the Messenger Of The Gods box set - crackled with playfully hedonistic energy, but they also hid a more serious side to Freddie. Here was a man who craved the good times but wanted something deeper as well.

Within two years, he had abandoned the sound of the clubs for the music of the opera house - though not before releasing both the epic single Time, the theme to the lavish stage musical of the same name produced by Dave Clark, and his outrageous (and strangely revealing) Top 5 cover of The Platters' 1965 hit, The Great Pretender.

In 1987, he dived headlong into the world of opera and classical music with the towering single, Barcelona. A duet with legendary Spanish soprano Montserrat CaballÉ, an idol of Freddie's, it came about after the opera star asked him to write a song about her home town.

Barcelona remains one of the most momentous hit singles not just of Freddie's career but in pop history. Not only did it lead to an album of collaborations between these two huge talents, but the title track was also chosen as the official anthem of the 1992 Olympics. That song, together with the two other singles taken from the album, The Golden Boy and How Can I Go On, are all included as part of Messenger Of The Gods with their original B-sides.

In October 1988 Freddie and Montserrat were invited by the King and Queen of Spain to perform Barcelona on the steps of Barcelona's National Palace of Montjuic at the open air La Nit festival which was staged to mark the arrival of the Olympic Flag from Seoul.

But sadly, Freddie would not live to see the fruits of his collaboration with Montserrat CaballÉ showcased at the Barcelona Olympics. He passed away on November 24, 1991, just seven months before the Games took place. The grand opening ceremony was a fitting tribute to a man who thrived on spectacle.

Messenger Of The Gods is completed by two posthumous singles, In My Defence and Living On My Own (No More Brothers Radio Mix), the latter of which became Freddie's first solo number 1 and was the biggest selling European single of the year in 1993.

Had he lived, it is anyone's guess where this most restless and protean of singer's muses would have taken him. But Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles is a towering legacy, a collection of songs which will never lose their stature of classics and will live on forever.
