    Levitation

Levitation is the tenth studio album by English rock group Hawkwind, released in 1980. It peaked at No. 21 on the UK Albums Chart. Featuring GINGER BAKER, the album was a classic work and spawned an equally legendary tour. Levitation is a unorthodox but brilliant record. This is the ultimate release of this classic album.

New Sleeve Notes From Highly Respected Rolling Stone Writer David Fricke

    Limited Edition

Fresh Cream is the first album by Cream, released in 1966. Laid down at the height of the UK blues boom, Fresh Cream covers the kind of territory you might expect from three of the most respected players on the scene at the time. With Clapton fresh just from his time with John Mayall, Ginger Baker leaving behind the R'n'B backwaters of Graham Bond Organisation, and a woefully under-employed Jack Bruce hightailing it from the increasingly pop-leaning Manfred Mann, the electric blues was their natural turf.

Highlights include the racing harmonica work-out, and the call and response excitements on Muddy Waters' "Rollin' and Tumblin'", a spine-tingled vocal on the Willie Dixon classic, "Spoonful", as well as the self-penned "Sleepy Time Time" which gives Clapton a free hand to wake up all and sundry. The traditional standard, Cat's Squirrel is given a rousing treatment, showing how well these players meshed.

    Afrodisiac

The best known song on 1973's Afrodisiac is "Jeun Ko Ku," a satire about gluttony and Fela's first major hit in West Africa. In Broken English, the title means "chop and quench," which, in turn, means "eat and die" in Standard English. Lyrically, the standout track is the closing "Je'Nwi Temi" ("don't gag me"), a critique of the Nigerian political/military establishment and a defence of free speech. Fela vows that he will always tell it like it is, no matter what. This proved to be prophetic stuff, given the police and army assaults, intended to silence him, which were just around the corner. "Alu Jon Jonki Jon" draws on the interaction between animals and humans that is part of Yoruba mythology, in a tale about a dog who betrays his friends. Like many of Fela's lyrics of the period, the lyric employs parable and metaphor to encourage ethical conduct in everyday life. In "Eko Ile," Fela sings that there is no place like home (Eko was the pre-colonial name of Lagos). Afrodisiac was recorded at EMI's Abbey Road studios in London. According to the original sleeve credits, the album was produced by Jeff Jarratt. Fela only infrequently employed outside producers on his albums. Sometimes the results were excellent: British dub master Dennis Bovell's Live In Amsterdam (1983); Ginger Baker's psychedelia-tinged He Miss Road (1975); and Wally Badarou's Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense (1986). On another occasion it was spectacularly bad: Bill Laswell's remix and overdubbing of Army Arrangement (1985), made while Fela was in jail in 1984 on currency smuggling charges. Friends smuggled a cassette of Laswell's version into Fela. Listening to it, he said later, was "worse than being in prison.' On Afrodisiac, Jeff Jarratt was clearly working under Fela's close direction. The sound is classic Africa 70: punchy, raw, "live in the studio."

    Hard Attack

The 70's were the golden era of rock music. Especially in 1972 albums such as Deep Purple's Machine Head, Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick, David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, Uriah Heep's Demons and Wizards, Black Sabbath's Vol. 4, and of course the colossal live Made in Japan were released. In addition to their undeniable historical value, these albums were released by British artists that dominated the rock scene back then. On the other side of the Atlantic, 3 teens from the US were forming a short-lived band that released only two albums but had a strong impact on a small nucleus of fans that recognized something different in the sound of Dust. The sound of Hard Attack, the band's second and final release, that we now call proto-metal is influenced by the likes of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, the Who and even Cream. So, what we have here is an American band that sounds as if it consists of British musicians. The band members however were not strangers to the world of rock. Drummer Marc Bell became known as Marky Ramone, while singer and guitarist Richie Wise went on to produce the first two KISS albums along with Kenny Kerner who wrote the lyrics of Hard Attack. Nevertheless, bass player Kenny Aaronson is the one who shines mostly throughout the album with his amazing musicianship.

As a result, the fact that the album sounds like a fusion of the aforementioned bands is not accidental. In addition, the listener can recognize elements of KISS from the very beginning with excellent riffs, heavy rock attitude but most notably huge chugging bass lines. But it's not just speed and heaviness that this band has to offer. The combination of acoustic and electric guitar showcases the band's ability to create more melodic passages along with their proto-metal sound. The song Suicide is the pinnacle of the whole album as one can listen to the band's Sabbathian sound accompanied by drum fills reminiscent of Ginger Baker. Bear in mind that in this release Marc Bell (aka Marky Ramone) is just 16 years old. Additionally, one can listen to melodic brakes in the middle of some songs that remind Uriah Heep and psychedelic influences from the likes of the Beatles. Moreover, the band sounds even more interesting when they add strings and organ to a mellow song with lyrics such as "Angry angels cried, Satan yearning cast a spell on us, Cherubim with wings that cannot fly, Dancing demons fill the sky". An additional sample of proto-metal can be heard in the speedy instrumental Ivory with its catchy riffs, cool bass licks, and Paice-like drumming. As you may have guessed, Dust is not your typical 70's hard rock band. Yes, they do incorporate elements from several bands but they add their own style in order to produce a rather exciting outcome, that we now call proto-metal.

    Spectrum Road

Spectrum Road is a groundbreaking collaboration between four giants of modern music: Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, John Medeski and Cindy Blackman Santana. Named after one of the incendiary tracks on the original Tony Williams Lifetime album, Spectrum Road demonstrates on their self-titled debut, however, that they are in no way a tribute band.

After making rock history with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker in Cream, legendary British bassist Jack Bruce joined the Lifetime for two records thus serving as Spectrum Road's direct connection to their muse. The group is artfully rounded out by famed guitarist Vernon Reid, of Living Colour, and multi-keyboardist John Medeski, one-third of the juggernaut Medeski, Martin & Wood.

Made famous by her ten plus years backing Lenny Kravitz, Cindy Blackman Santana has distinguished herself as an impressively versatile player who's as comfortable on post-bop sessions with Joe Henderson and Wallace Roney as she is touring with pop stars like Kravitz and husband Carlos Santana. The formidable line-up of Spectrum Road assures the legacy of Tony Williams lives on, and clearly qualifies as a major 2012 music event.

    He Miss Road

He Miss Road combines the sound of James Brown-style 70s funk with a stripped down Afrobeat performance. Ginger Baker produced this ethereal, nearly psychedelic album with Tony Allen on drums, backed by Fela?s Africa 70 band. The title track refers to the ways in which people have lost their way ? and the ensuing chaos it causes.

Iconic Classic Rock heroes Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker teamed up in 2005 for a short string of Cream reunion shows in the UK's nest concert hall, Royal Albert Hall. After their late '60s split, the band had not been playing together, except for a one-off 1993 gig at their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Cream had not only remained a legendary band, but at the time it seemed extremely unlikely that they would ever play live again. Therefore these live recordings are a heaven's send to Rock fans all over the world, those who are eager to hear these monsters of Rock back in action. And many fans and critics agreed that the band sounded better than before. A worthy coda to their brief but impactful career.

    Disraeli Gears (Awaiting Repress)

Featuring two of Cream's best-known songs, 'Strange Brew' and 'Sunshine Of Your Love', according to Q magazine, the second album from the original super-group of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker "was a huge, Top 5 success on both sides of the Atlantic, transforming the shape of rock music, which still draws deeply on its power-trio innovations". Moving away from their blues roots to a more psychedelic sound typical of the times, Mojo magazine reckoned, "with its perfect Martin Sharp sleeve and disciplined performances, Disraeli Gears was always Cream's best record. It remains so." Sharp also contributed lyrics to one of the album's other classics, 'Tales Of Brave Ulysses'. Recorded in New York, 'Disraeli Gears' was Cream's breakthrough in America, cementing their superstar status.

    Live In Denver

    Import

Recorded Live In Denver, Colorado On November 20, 1980

There are several words one could use to describe Jack Bruce: legendary, fiery, innovative, multitalented, influential. His bass playing, his incredible vocals -- his sound -- is immediately recognizable, truly unique. He inspired and influenced generations of bass players and brought that instrument singlehandedly into the spotlight. Jack is known mostly for being in Cream -- arguably the most famous power trio ever and possibly the first super-group -- along with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. Although Cream was together only 2 years, the trio carved a niche in rock and roll that will never be equaled. Jack not only played bass and was the main vocalist, he also played keyboards, cello and harmonica. Along with his Cream bandmates, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. He continued with solo projects up until his death in 2014.

One of the most notable lineups of the band that toured as Jack Bruce and Friends consisted of Clem Clempson, Billy Cobham, and David Sancious -- musicians he played with in the early 80's and who joined him in the performance captured here.

On this album, recorded live in Denver, Colorado, November 20, 1980, the band tackles works from Cream (`White Room', `Traintime', 'Politician' and 'Born Under A Bad Sign'), Jack's solo years ('Post War', 'Morning Story' and `Theme...'), and songs from the other band members (`Dancing On Air', 'Living Without You' and `Facelift 318').

A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in old school Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals!

For the early part of the Beach Boys' career, all of their singles were mixed and mastered and released only in the mono format - they didn't release a single in stereo until 1968. In those days, hits were made on AM radio in mono. And the mono of those times worked well for Brian Wilson - famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger - who suffers from partial deafness. Still, apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965.

All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were all done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys.

Pet Sounds is famous for its use of multiple layers of unorthodox instrumentation as well as other cutting edge audio techniques for its time. It's considered the best Beach Boys album, and one of the best of the 1960s. The group here reached a whole new level in terms of both composition and production, layering tracks upon tracks of vocals and instruments to create a richly symphonic sound.

To meet the standards of Analogue Productions, our Beach Boys album reissues had a mission to achieve: Present the band's music the way that Brian Wilson - famed co-founder, songwriter and arranger - intended. Mono mixes created under Wilson's supervision were how the surf rockin' California crew rose to fame! And we've got 'em!

For the early part of the Beach Boys' career, all of their singles were mixed and mastered and released only in the mono format - they didn't release a single in stereo until 1968. In those days, hits were made on AM radio in mono. And the mono of those times worked well for Wilson, who suffers from partial deafness. In fact, for their first 13 albums, Wilson originally turned in all the final mixed Beach Boy albums to Capitol Records only in mono. The mono mixes were where Wilson paid intense attention, and the dedication paid off!

We've taken 10 of the most classic, best-sounding Beach Boy titles ever and restored them to their mono glory!

But there's no disputing that the close harmonies and one-of-a-kind rhythms of hits like "Surfer Girl," "In My Room," "Little Deuce Coupe" and more lend themselves naturally to stereo. So we've got your 2-channel needs covered with prime stereo mix versions as well.

It's considered the best Beach Boys album, and one of the best of the 1960s. The group here reached a whole new level in terms of both composition and production, layering tracks upon tracks of vocals and instruments to create a richly symphonic sound.
