A Ghost Story (Original Soundtrack Album)

Vinyl Release Pressed On 180g White Vinyl And Housed In A Glow-In-The-Dark Jacket

A Ghost Story is the new film from director David Lowery (Pete's Dragon) starring Casey Affleck (Manchester By The Sea) and Rooney Mara (Carol). In this singular exploration of legacy, love, loss, and the enormity of existence, the movie follows a recently deceased, white-sheeted ghost returning to his suburban home to try and reconnect with his bereft wife. The score to A Ghost Story was composed by Lowrey's frequent collaborator Daniel Hart (Tumbledown). Astral in sound and cosmic in scope, Hart's compositions for A Ghost Story will haunt you.

    Ghost Stories

Ghost Stories is the sixth studio album by British alternative rock band Coldplay.

After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single Yellow, Coldplay quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts worldwide.

    Ghost Of David

Ghost of David, the third album by Damien Jurado, is now available on vinyl and cassette for the first time. Originally released September 19th, 2000, Ghost of David has sold over 13,000 copies to date. Damien Jurado is an urban-folk singer with his hand in the baskets of all the right fringe genres. He's a storyteller, and the stories have matured steadily since he first appeared on the scene with the perfect balance of lighthearted pop and saddest of the sad on his early singles and first full-length, Waters Ave S. Since then, (with his second full-length, Rehearsals for Departure, the Gather in Song EP (both from 1999), and this year's collection of found recordings, Postcards and Audio Letters) he's moved more toward the dark, and if you ask him, he'll tell you point blank that it's in the dark where you'll find us all.

    Your Ghost Keeps Finding Me

Levi Weaver's music doesn't fit in a box; you'll be hard pressed to find a genre that is enough to describe him. It's no wonder he's at ease traveling as he does touring. Levi, currently based out of Nashville, is a seasoned road warrior, covering 50k miles in a year. He plays as a one-man band intriguing audiences with his loop pedals, his dual mics, and a violin bow. But more than anything, he is a master story-teller with captivating lyrical integrity and gut-wrenching honesty. This follow-up to 2011's The Letters of Dr. Kurt Godel; his latest album, Your Ghost Keeps Finding Me.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes

NEKROMANTIX is a musical unearthing of the biggest themes from the greatest works of monster, zombie, vampire, werewolf and b-horror fiction; ripped from literature, comic book pages or classic celluloid. NEKROMANTIX chases a darkly romantic muse with an even darker humor.

A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes broadens the NEKROMANTIX legacy with expansive ambition that never sacrifices the trio's inherent grittiness, furiously stoking and reshaping the flames of the creative vision begun in Denmark with legendary labels like Nervous Records, through the band's master classes in punk n' roll albums stateside with Hellcat Records, the label cofounded by Tim Armstrong and Brett Gurewitz.

Armed with his signature coffn bass, chilling baritone, monstrous expressions and ten-stories-tall haircut, Kim Nekroman has earned tremendous respect, admiration and goodwill from a fiercely dedicated legion of hard-partiers, rabble-rousers, well-meaning degenerates, grease monkeys, outlaw bikers, nostalgic tastemakers and forward-thinking punks. It's a crew of supporters as diverse as the otherwise classic and timeless music the Danish-born California transplant has unleashed as leader of NEKROMANTIX.

Nekroman has been joined by skilled guitarist Francisco Mesa for nearly a decade now, with drummer Adam Guerrero bringing a fresh injection of passionate enthusiasm to the band in 2014. A Symphony of Wolf Tones & Ghost Notes is a fertile proving ground for a reenergized lineup that fans of the band have already loved for two years. New songs like "Glow in the Dark," "War Bats" and "Resting Witch Face" are instant classics, standing mightily alongside the greatest NEKROMANTIX songs enduring in their set list.

To their dedicated army of supporters around the world and across every dimension, NEKROMANTIX stands tall among the ghosts in rock n' roll's undead cemetery.

On their second full-length for Jagjaguwar, Minus Story's heavenly racket shuffles, flutters, crashes, and bangs. Their reedy artistic voice nears multi-octave range. They're influenced musically by the solo work of John Frusciante, the tenderness of Bjork, the melodic interplay of Television, and the directness of late period Tom Waits. They're influenced conceptually by the brutality of Jerzy Kosinski's The Painted Bird, the ambivalent authoritarianism critique of Jason Lips (the provider of the cartoon drawings for the album art), and most of all by the idea of the invisible enemy and the erosion of the soul by unknown outside forces.

    The Ghosts Of Highway 20

We've all heard about the iconic vibe of Route 66, the neon lights on Broadway and the ocean air of the Pacific Coast Highway. But there are untold stories emanating from countless blue highways across the land - like Interstate 20, which cuts a 1500-mile swath from South Carolina to Texas, and cuts deep into the spirit of those who've spent their lives traversing it.

Lucinda Williams is one of those people, and with the expansive, enveloping The Ghosts of Highway 20, she brings those stories to life - and gives listeners a remarkably vivid look at how the highway has been a literal and figurative backdrop throughout her entire life. The intensely involving 14-song collection may be the most deeply felt, deeply affecting work of Lucinda Williams' illustrious 35-plus-year career, a career that has been established on a foundation of remarkably personal songs.

    If Then Not When

The ghost stories, murder ballads and grimoires on Louisville, KY's King's Daughters & Sons full-length album If Then Not When are haunting, spare and at times explosively unsettling; part William Faulkner, part Led Zeppelin. Informed by, but not beholden to the history of its members (Shipping News, Rachel's, The For Carnation, Shannon Wright), their songs are singular, thoughtful and best heard loud. If Then Not When was made direct to 2 tape in 2008 and 2009 at The Funeral Home by Kevin Ratterman, engineer for California Guitar Trio, My Morning Jacket and Wax Fang. Mastered by Bob Weston, Chicago Mastering Service.

This is the seventh studio album from multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning artist Coldplay. Front man Christ Martin stated it might be the band's final album and compared it to Harry Potter; It's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last Harry Potter book or something like that. He added that, unlike their promotion efforts for Ghost Stories, the band will tour for the seventh record. In an interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, Martin hinted at the style of the album by saying that the band was trying to make something colourful and uplifting, yet not bombast. He also stated that it will be something to "shuffle your feet" to!

Though never commercially successful, Paisley Underground darlings the Dream Syndicate were critically acclaimed and held up their version of neo-psychedelic rock n' roll through the vapid MTV-dominated synth years of the 1980s. Influenced by the Velvet Underground, Neil Young and Television, the Syndicate led by vocalist, guitarist and band leader, Steve Wynn, formed the original version of the band with guitarist Karl Precoda in 1982 after moving back to Los Angeles. Drummer Dennis Duck, who played in the Pasadena band, Human Hands, joined the Syndicate and suggested the band's name in reference to Tony Conrad's early 1960s NY experimental ensemble that included John Cale.

The band performed their first live show at Club Lingerie in Hollywood on Feb 23, 1982, and later signed to Slash Records' subsidiary, Ruby Records, releasing their enigmatic and best-known album, The Days of Wine and Roses. After a brief hiatus in the latter 1980s, Wynn, Duck and bassist Mark Walton joined with guitarist Paul Cutler who had produced the band's very first EP. By 1988, the band was on Enigma Records and began a relationship with producer Elliott Mazer, who produced Neil Young's Time Fades Away. Mazer produced Live at Raji's which showcased the band's long, feedback soaked improvisations and even though it was released AFTER the Mazer-produced studio album, Ghost Stories, it was recorded prior to that on Jan 31, 1988, at Raji's in Hollywood; not 1989 as originally listed on the album upon release.

What Run Out Groove presents here is the complete show, including 4 tracks making their debut on wax. Live at Raji's would see its release for the first time in the U.S., since the original vinyl album debuted in Europe back in 1989. If you like R.E.M., Mazzy Star, Rain Parade, Galaxie 500, Big Star, The Velvet Underground, Television and Grant Lee Buffalo you won't want to miss this title.

    The Siket Disc

The Siket Disc is a 1999 release from the American band Phish. It emerged from material developed during the Bearsville Studio sessions for Phish's 1998 album The Story of the Ghost. Not exactly outtakes or unfinished songs, The Siket Disc's compositions are actually select excerpts from the long-form improvisation of the Ghost Sessions. Phish keyboard player Page McConnell edited and mastered the selections into this compilation, named for engineer John Siket.

The material on The Siket Disc is defined by an almost ambient, post-rock sound that is a distinct departure from the band's major studio albums. The album is almost completely instrumental, but contains a few instances of vocalization. Quadrophonic Toppling, for instance, includes a triggered sample of bass guitarist Mike Gordon repeating the song's title.

Only the compositions My Left Toe and What's the Use? have been notably incorporated into the band's live shows on a somewhat regular basis. (However, Quadrophonic Toppling and The Happy Whip and Dung Song have each made at least one live appearance).

Gordon has indicated that The Siket Disc became a fixture in the band's late night tour bus music rotation in the early 2000s (decade), saying that It fit the vibe perfectly ... It's one of the only instances I can remember when we regularly played our own music.

    Psychic Temple II

It may seem hard to imagine a place where indie rock visionaries like Sufjan Stevens and Castanets' Ray Raposa could meld minds with the genius of Brian Wilson, where death metal pioneer Paul Masvidal might wield his legendary six-string chops on a blissed-out soul ballad, where adventurous young jazz players like Kris Tiner and Devin Hoff share credit with Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens and singer/songwriter Aaron Roche.

Long Beach composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (not to mention truck driver) Chris Schlarb has not only imagined such a place but has now made it manifest for a second time. Released by Asthmatic Kitty, Psychic Temple II is a labor of love, envisioned by Schlarb to bring his most far-ranging inspirations to life - as he puts it, "a dream ensemble that could never actually exist." The ensemble's sophomore release was painstakingly constructed over more than a year with the cooperation of some of the most progressive musical minds from a staggering variety of genres.

"I love interesting juxtapositions, where you bring together people from different communities," Schlarb says. He cites iconoclastic predecessors like Bill Laswell's ever-changing group Material, which once brought together a young Whitney Houston with jazz legend Archie Shepp and future Soundgarden and Red Hot Chili Peppers producer Michael Beinhorn to cover a song by Hugh Hopper of English prog-rock pioneers Soft Machine. On 2010's Psychic Temple, Schlarb assembled a 29-member ensemble that included Minutemen bassist Mike Watt, vocalist Julianna Barwick, and pianist Mick Rossi of the Philip Glass Ensemble.

"It seems like a crazy combination of people," Schlarb says, "but they're all just musicians. Why not bring them all together? It may not always work, but it's always worth reaching further."

Psychic Temple II reaches beyond the long-form experiments of its predecessor for a more tightly focused yet conceptually dense collection whose songs are no less exploratory for their briefer durations. "I never see the point in continuing to regurgitate," Schlarb says of the new album's unique direction. "What was natural at that time would now feel contrived. I have to keep moving forward."

Schlarb also includes three cover songs by composers who share his boundary-demolishing mindset: Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out," Frank Zappa's "Sofa No. 2," and Brian Wilson's "'Til I Die," a gorgeous, lesser-known Beach Boys song that features vocals by Sufjan Stevens, Castanets' Ray Raposa, and Cryptacize's Nedelle Torrisi.

Psychic Temple had its origins in Create (!), a large improvising ensemble with which Schlarb used to perform. The free-form group would often incorporate multiple drummers, a concept that Schlarb decided to pursue in a more composition-oriented setting. No matter how much Psychic Temple mutates from track to track, the rhythmic possibilities of its two drummers (in this case, Tabor Allen and Andrew Pompey) remain intact.

Schlarb's imaginative leaps are evidenced from the outset of Psychic Temple II, on the intoxicating opening track, "Seventh House." Featuring the sinuous vocals of Sarah Negahdari, who recently served as touring bassist for Silversun Pickups, the song weaves together lyrical and musical references to Neil Young's "Will To Love," to the Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers album Pisces, and to Sheena Easton's notorious Prince-penned pop hit "Sugar Walls."

Then there's "The Starry King Hears Laughter" and "She Is the Golden World," two songs that pay simultaneous homage to poet William Blake and jazz legend Bill Evans; or "Solo in Place," Schlarb's attempt to filter classic soul through his own "weird prism," a missing link between the Isley Brothers and the Alan Parsons Project that features guitar wizard Paul Masvidal of the death metal bands Death and Cynic.

Despite such a mind-blowing array of talent from the farthest reaches of the musical spectrum, Psychic Temple II is a surprisingly cohesive album, a testament to Schlarb's clear controlling vision. "One of the fundamental flaws of modern music is the idea of the record as a pastiche," he says. "With hip-hop and R&R records starting in the '90s, you had ten tracks with ten different producers so every track sounded completely different. There was no aesthetic where you could just put on a record and listen to it beginning to end. I admire people who are control freaks."

Schlarb has wielded control over a number of vastly different projects himself. The New York Observer called his debut solo album, Twilight & Ghost Stories, "40 minutes of avant-garde bliss," while Interoceans, recorded with experimental jazz duo I Heart Lung, was chosen by NPR as one of the top five jazz albums of 2008. He composed the score for Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren's video game Nightsky and has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and Meet the Composer. In 2001, Schlarb founded the eclectic Sounds Are Active record label, which has released music by the likes of Nels Cline, Mike Watt, and Castanets.

    Last Of The Outlaws

Railroad Earth's seventh album is their most evocative and ambitious set to date. At once melancholic and joyous, often deep, yet always accessible, the album captures the band as they are now; twelve years in, wiser and worn and pondering how this life affects those around them. Every song has a story and every story has its meaning. Last Of The Outlaws is an album filled with stories of birth, death, heartache, joy, sadness, redemption, loss of our heroes, and even a lesson or two from old ghosts straight from the hangman's noose.

    Stravinsky - Petruchka (Speakers Corner)

Petrushka was born of Stravinsky's vision of a long-haired musician hammering indiscriminately at the piano keys and engaging in a furious contest with the orchestra which »answers with vehement protests and acoustic fisticuffs«. As was the case with The Rite of Spring and The Firebird, Sergei Diaghilev and his Russian ballet had their share in ensuring that the 'burlesque' in four scenes would be suitable for the stage.
The clown-doll Petrushka revels in his spiteful teasing and pranks at the Shrovetide fair.

The orchestra contributes swirling dance figures, blaring brass and scurrying strings to his high-spirited clownery - but then the Moor enters and dances with the Ballerina, arousing jealousy in Petrushka. Although the clown-doll does not survive this bitter-sweet story, he triumphs at the end, his ghost mocking the crowd at the fair.
This highly inventive music combines folksong, popular music and the waltz, all bound together by exhilating rhythms which are often taken to thunderous extremes. With its outstanding sound, this recording is a must-have in any Stravinsky collection.

Production: Wilma Cozart-Fine and Clair Van Ausdall

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    Awake Remixes

Limited Edition Pressed On Deep Blue Vinyl

Awake represented a high-water mark for Scott Hansen, the San Francisco musician better known as Tycho. Described by Hansen as, in many ways, the first True Tycho record, Awake announced the arrival of Tycho as a full band, and it found Hansen streamlining the group's sound, focusing on the drums and aiming to capture the energy and power of the group's live set. The story of Awake arrives at its natural conclusion with this 12 of remixes, on which Hansen's songs are re-interpreted by producers (including Ghostly artists Com Truise, Beacon, & Christopher Willits, as well as Baio from Vampire Weekend, Nitemoves, and more) who make the songs their own while retaining all of their core elements.

    Past Is Prologue

Tycho's Past Is Prologue has a storied history. The tracks
began as Sunrise Projector, Tycho's 2004 full-length debut on
Gammaphone records; the record was then expanded and
reissued in 2006 as Past Is Prologue on Merck records; and
now, Ghostly International is reissuing Tycho's original
masterwork, re-introducing graphic designer / producer Scott
Hansen's musical universe: a lush, expansive imaginary
landscape of sepia-toned keyboards, warm downtempo beats,
and mile after mile of sun-dappled beauty.

Scott Hansen's alter-ego is as graphic designer ISO50, and his
visual work and musical creations share a similar aesthetic:
saturated, faintly nostalgic tones, artfully arranged
compositions, with a complex internal rhythm and color-outside-the-lines joy that's both easy on the eyes/ears and
tremendously addictive. Past Is Prologue is an ideal point of
entry into Tycho's world: "Dictaphone's Lament" is an anthemic
rush of melody and rhythm with cross-panned, dueling
basslines and a gauzy, late-afternoon feel; "Send and Receive"
sounds like a music box designed by Brian Eno, a ne mesh of
melodic plips and plops and brisk, skittering hi-hats. The title
track is a low-level stunner, splitting the dierence between
    Rhodes-heavy ambient and drum 'n bass-both laid-back and
frantic. Past Is Prologue also includes remixes from Chachi
Jones, and Nautilis, as well as two extra tracks not on the
    original release of the album.

As its title implies, Past Is Prologue is only the beginning. In
the years since its initial release, Scott Hansen has been
rening his approach, woodshedding new material and bufng
it until it shines like polished brass. For Tycho, the past is
    prologue to a limitless future.

    Homesick

Before digging into the steely, handcrafted technoisms of Homesick, you need to
know a few things about Charles Du , the Bay Area artist behind Matrixxman.
Perhaps most importantly, he is a dedicated futurist-quick to name Google's
director of engineering, Ray Kurzweil, as a major personal inspiration, and prone to
contemplating artificial intelligence and a true post-corporeal reality. He's also a
voracious information junkie, soaking up government conspiracies and
contemporary science-fiction like a proper X-Files fanatic. These cultural reference
points are as integral to the background of Homesick as Detroit, Chicago, and
Berlin's musical legacies. Across the record's versatile tracklist, Matrixxman uses
the language of machines and dancefloors like a hungry pulp novelist, weaving
together his divergent narratives and characters under one sprawling dystopian
    sky.

If you listened to house and techno in 2014, you've undoubtedly heard the name
Matrixxman. The guy has been on a prolific tear since debuting his project in 2013,
having issued no fewer than 12 cold-ass futuristic releases and taken his
genre-blurring DJ sets around the world in under two years. But his story reaches
much further into the past: back to being a drum & bass-obsessed teenager in the
late '90s, back to when Du 's best friend changed his life with a Juan Atkins mix
CD in 2001, back to producing for hotly tipped MCs like Le1f, Ty Dolla Sign, and YG.
Matrixxman is already a venerable pro with workmanlike constitution, to say the
least, and yet his debut album has only just materialized.

My obsession with the darker sides of humanity's exploits gone awry is secondary
to the more important matter at heart: evolutionary transcendence, Matrixxman
explains. And his focus on cybernetic themes shines through the music. Emergent
AI, interplanetary travel, neuroenhancement drugs, incredible opulence
juxtaposed with abject poverty, leaving physical form and existing as data-Homesick
distills the concepts into thick acid lines, brawny 909 patterns, tonal contrasts,
dynamic aesthetics, and viscous pads steeped in digital ephemera. It begins with
Necronomicon, a massive black cloud of noxious ambience looming over our
story, and ends on the astral mysticism of Earth Like Conditions. Yes, there is an
arc built into Homesick, and the sci-fi epic it illustrates seizes your undivided
    attention.

Even the tracklist speaks volumes to the record's music and narrative-from the
enhanced motorik systems of Augmented and Network Failure's cognitive
dissonance, to the dark hedonism in Opium Den and the drum machine violence
that drives Switchblade. As Matrixxman says himself, The titles correlate to
distinct, separate scenes. And those visuals just about come alive on tracks like
Packard Plant-a whirring, windswept homage to the desolate Detroit
landmark-or the album's haunted and distant centerpiece, Annika's Theme. Du
is quick to share Annika's identity: She's an incredibly gifted neuroscientist,
pursuing cutting-edge research in fields that will have a profound impact on
humanity. But what exactly she accomplishes and where she goes is unexplained.
Homesick outlines the cues needed to follow along, careful to leave room for us to
    fill in the details.

Matrixxman uses his debut album to evoke visions of a not-too-distant-future with
music made both for the dancefloor and the early morning zone-outs that follow.
These are the real world applications of Homesick, though Du comes to it all from
an entirely di erent mindset. We will have the technological capability to fully
map out a human brain in its entirety within 30 years, he starts. The implications
of such a possibility are deep and far reaching. We will be crossing a rubicon
towards a new phase in human consciousness. I am one person that is prepared to
take that step. Once you emerge on the other side of Homesick, it seems possible
    that Matrixxman already has.

    Iteration

Repetition is a form of change, reads one of Brian Eno's Oblique
Strategies. Seth Haley knows the concept well, and his style of
technicolour synth-wave takes the mantra as a challenge. Six
years after Galactic Melt introduced the cosmic story of Com
Truise, Iteration now concludes his sprawling saga. True to its
name, the album is built on Com Truise hallmarks: neon-streaked
melodies, big drums, robotic grooves, bleary nostalgia. But
Iteration is also the most elegant and streamlined that Haley's
    singular music has ever sounded.

At the album's heart is an elaborate narrative, one full of longing,
hope, anxiety, and triumph. Iteration illustrates the last moments
Com Truise spends on the perilous planet Wave 1, before he and
his alien love escape its clutches to live in peace. ...Of Your Fake
Dimension launches the interstellar drama with its anthemic
swells and widescreen sound design, before lovesick songs like
Dryswch and Propagation outline scenes wrought with
cybernetic pathos. Later, the frantic rhythms of Syrthio conjure
images of panicked flight as Haley's gorgeous synth melodies gild
the action in quiet heartbreak. Then comes the resounding When
Will You Find The Limit , when Iteration's pain and sadness finds
liberation in the vast unknown. The closing title track ends it all in
    a gush of majestic revelry.

So goes the winding story that Iteration tells, and yet there's more
behind its telling. I try hard not to write from my personal life, but
it's inevitably going to seep into the music, Haley explains. It's
basically like I'm scoring this film in my head, but that film I'm
scoring is also somehow my life. There are glimpses of the
difficult time the East Coast native spent adjusting to a new life in
Los Angeles, fighting homesickness and burnout while also
touring the world. It was a time full of uncertainty, transition, and
self-realization. After a year and a half of living in California,
Hayley finally recaptured his creativity by finding new excitement
in his work. I put more air, more breathing room in the
music-that was the big change, he says. And once that clicked,
the album just poured out of him. It was like an information
dump. I feel like I finished the record in two weeks.

Such a clear refinement of the Com Truise sound took time to
develop, but Iteration is well worth the patience and persever- ance it cost. Some of Haley's smartest, catchiest work is here,
from the weightless pop of Isostasy to Ternary's lush
synth-funk. A song like Vacuume somehow balances massive
bass drops and smashing drums with angelic gasps, and
Usurper gracefully pairs subtle poignancy and uplifting dance
beats. For me, it feels like change, Hayley says of his second
album, and yes, this is Com Truise like never before. By embracing
the music's inherent nature and peerless qualities, Iteration finds
new avenues of expression in its vivid, familiar surroundings.

Musically, there are bits of The Stone Roses, What's The Story Morning Glory, and Nevermind. As catchy as those reference points are, it's the songwriting that has won the band a fiercely dedicated following; a mix of the observational storytelling of Davies and Weller crossed with the harsher documentary eye of Mike Skinner of The Streets and Ghost Town era Specials. Two #1 UK singles. Press already lined up with Rolling Stone, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, and Interview, to name a few. The Puppet Master

An underground icon and purveyor of all things dark and mysterious, KING DIAMOND and his cohorts continue to terrorize humanity with their latest and most extreme album to date, The Puppet Master. This gruesome tale set to take place in 18th century Budapest, Hungary involving a puppet show and many fascinating characters. One cold night in December the main character known as Unfortunate Man goes down to see a Christmas puppet show and after the show he is standing outside and sees a young woman. He is strangely drawn to this young woman, Victoria, almost as if one of the puppet's ghosts is sitting on his shoulder whispering in his ear to go and kiss the girl. The two get along immediately due to their fascination with the puppet show and end up going out. About a year later everything is going very good until one night Victoria heads down to the puppet show by herself and never returns. The Unfortunate Man goes down to the puppet show to investigate and sees the Puppet Master's wife leaving with a wheel barrel and follows her only to see her murder a homeless man and put his body in the cart. From here the story twists and turns as it takes you through the horrific tale of the Unfortunate Man, Victoria, The Puppet Master, his wife, the puppets and the events leading to the climactic end of the story.

As King describes it this album is going to make the hairs stand up on the back of listeners neck. The rules of censorship are being thrown out the window...this is going to be the rawest story/album we have ever done. King was also quick to point out that if you are into horror; you're definitely going to get it with this album! The Puppet Master is sure to be considered one of King's goriest and most extreme stories yet!

    Opening

For years, I've imagined the work I do in music, photography, and video all coming into one space, says music-tech guru Christopher Willits from his home in San Francisco. It's an ambition that many musicians have aspired to, but nonetheless seems especially befitting of a worldly polymath like Willits. I believe that sound and light, when used intentionally, have the power to transform and inspire our imaginations, he continues. I believe that art has an ability to awaken our connection to everything. And that is exactly what he has set out to do with OPENING, the veteran Ghostly artist's immersive new audio-visual project.

Across seven tracks of widescreen ambient music, 45 minutes of visuals shot over four years in multiple countries, seven bespoke photographs, and a multi-sensory live performance, Willits has conceived and produced something which might better be thought of as an experience than a simple album. Of course, OPENING does feature Willits' latest music since Ancient Future, his 2012 collaboration with Japanese pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the vibrant, enveloping sounds we've come to expect from him are on full display. The quiet majesty of Vision ushers us into the sacred world Willits created, a living universe which billows and heaves in the corners of slow-grooving songs like CLEAR and CONNECT or the
textural minutiae and harmonic subtleties in GROUND. Closing out the album, WIDE and RELEASE o!er the listener a gentle comedown through 15 cumulative minutes of transcendent audio, with Willits' delicate guitar manipulations breathing life into the aether of prickly atmospheres and soft-glowing synths.

The other integral facet to the experience of OPENING is Willits' visual work. After building a library of footage and images from his travels around California, Hawaii, Japan, and Thailand, Willits will unveil for the first time a portion of his videos as an abstract film, the seven scenes of which each correspond with a song and photo from the album. The
45-minute piece uses music and a first-person perspective to tell what Willits calls a very ambiguous story, much in the vein of ground-breaking experimental films Koyaanisqatsi and Baraka. Taken as a whole, OPENING is unlike anything Willits has accomplished before, and maybe that's because the audio-visual project is about expanding one's mind to become something new. Or, as Willits puts it, OPENING is about transformation, the experience of changing oneself to be more of who you know you can be, and, ultimately, the joy that comes with that change.

    Sky Blue Sky

2-LP Wilco Set also Comes Complete with the CD of the Album!

It's been a while since the last offering from Jeff Tweedy and Co, but three years of slavering from fans is about to be rewarded with this seventh studio album. Well... Sky Blue Sky was well worth the wait! Though Wilco are known as purveyors of alt country rock, Sky Blue Sky is an astounding demonstration of their ability to move between soulful acoustic folk, jazzy blues, country skank and pumping rock. Tweedy has the vocal range of three people, from country lilt to blues ache to folk sweetness - all this often in the space of one song. And what songs they are. 'You Are My Face' is a classic Wilco segue, as a sleepy 'Beatles-esque' ditty is suddenly interrupted with a jazz guitar explosion twinned with Tweedy's achy blues voice before returning seamlessly to piano tinkle and smooth vocals. There are stories of love lost and found, told with originality, humour and sweetness. 'How can I warn you my tongue turns to dust? Lack of disgust doesn't mean that I don't care. It means I'm partially there,' sings Tweedy on the delicately beautiful 'Please Be Patient With Me'. The instrumentation is a mini-rock opera in itself. Glorious riffs, thumping piano and virtuoso guitar solos from Nels Cline are orchestrated with skill, complementing the intricately composed and woven melodies. Simple and soothing, yet rich and rewarding, this is an album you unknowingly yearn for, like a cool hand on a hot forehead. A great album from a band in their prime. Our highest recommedation!

Wilcos first studio album in three years, Sky Blue Sky, has been perhaps the most ardently awaited release of 07. Eager fans had taken to shouting out pleas for information to bandleader Jeff Tweedy during his recent solo acoustic tour, and the web chatter has been virtually deafening. Critic Katie Toms of Londons The Observer addressed fan speculation in an advance review, declaring, with unalloyed delight: Boy, was it worth the wait.... Simple and soothing, yet rich and rewarding, this is an album you unknowingly yearn for, like a cool hand on a hot forehead. A great album from a band in their prime.

Sky Blue Sky is as eloquently straightforward as Wilcos last studio recording, the Grammy-winning A Ghost Is Born, was daringly experimental. Tweedys lyrics deal forthrightly with romantic separation and reconciliation, their bittersweet quality giving way, as the album progresses, to a more uplifting, redemptive mood. Tweedy quite literally banishes the darkness on the penultimate track, the inspiring, gospel-tinged What Lightthe albums first singleand concludes with a deeply affecting, til-death-do-us-part lullaby, On and On and On.

There are hints of early-seventies Southern California folk-rock sweetness in the harmonies throughout the band-produced Sky Blue Sky, a bluesy Allman Brothers feel to the guitar /keyboard interplay, and plenty of brash guitar solos that take songs like You Are My Face and Shake It Off in thrilling, unexpected directions. This is especially good news for the crowds that will fill the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, this June, where the band plays the first U.S. date of its 2007 world tour in support of Sky Blue Sky. Principal songwriter Tweedy cut these tracks in the bands Chicago studio with members John Stirratt (bass, vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums), Mike Jorgensen (keyboards), Nels Cline (guitars) and Pat Sansone (guitars, keyboards, vocals)all of whom are also becoming notable performers in their own right. A Ghost Is Born co-producer Jim ORourke returns as music contributor.

    Room 29

Compelling new Deutsche Grammophon album Room 29, a unique collaboration between Jarvis Cocker and Chilly Gonzales, asks what the ghosts of Hollywood's golden age can tell us about how we came to be where we are today.

Standing at the west end of Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard, the Chateau Marmont hotel has seen many a famous and infamous guest pass through its doors since it opened in 1929. A 2012 stay in one of its second-floor rooms inspired British lyricist and singer Jarvis Cocker to look into its history and led to this collaborative project with multi-faceted Canadian pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales. Room 29, a 21st-century song cycle, is set for release on Deutsche Grammophon Gonzales' score and Cocker's lyrics conjure up the lives of some of Room 29's previous occupants, as well as shining a light on the glittering fantasy and often bleak reality of Hollywood.

"If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont," noted Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, in 1939. Jarvis Cocker was intrigued by the hotel's links to the history of the film industry. He found the key to creativity in the fact that Room 29 contained a baby-grand piano. What if it could "sing" of the life stories and events it had witnessed? The idea also ignited Chilly Gonzales's imagination, and both artists embarked on a three-year journey of artistic discovery, unearthing details about guests such as Jean Harlow, Mark Twain's daughter Clara, and Los Angeles mobster Meyer Cohen, alias "Mickey the Haberdasher". As well as dramatizing some of those stories, their songs capture both the essential loneliness of the hotel room and the ways in which moving images have "moved" people in ways they don't quite understand. Gonzales and Cocker have drawn on the 19th-century model of the song cycle for a structure capable of containing the broad sweep of emotions and states of mind elicited by the real and imaginary dramas of one unusual hotel suite. Room 29 emerges as the metaphor for a place within each of us, home to our deepest desires and fantasies.

Since moving to Germany in the late 1990s, Chilly Gonzales has pursued a breathtaking range of musical projects, spanning everything from rap and experimental rock to hip hop and Satie-inspired minimalism. The classically trained pianist collaborated with the Kaiser Quartett on his last solo album, Chambers, attracting critical acclaim to its neo-Romantic reflections on chamber music in the age of pop. The Hamburg-based string quartet plays a prominent part in Room 29, providing a sonorous tonal complement to Gonzales' piano writing and accompanying Jarvis Cocker's vocals. Lead singer and primary lyricist of Pulp for over 30 years, on and off, Cocker has also released two solo albums, and developed a successful broadcasting career, presenting both Jarvis Cocker's Sunday Service on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 4's Wireless Nights.
