    G I R L

Redefining cool for a new generation, Pharrell Williams is a creative force, using music, fashion, and design to express his distinctive style. From his beginnings as a teenage prodigy and multi-instrumentalist in Virginia Beach back in the early '90s, through enough hits to earn him Billboard's Producer of the Decade in 2010, to his current status as multi-media superstar, Williams has never stopped creating. Starting his producing career as one half of The Neptunes with Chad Hugo, Williams has helped create such classics as Daft Punk's Get Lucky, Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, Nelly's Hot in Herre, Jay-Z's I Just Wanna Love U (Give it 2 Me), Britney Spears's I'm A Slave 4 U, and Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You.

With over 100 million copies of his productions sold, his music sounds like something no one else has thought of just yet. He's also created a new way of looking at established stars like SnoopDogg, Madonna, and even the Rolling Stones. Over four albums, Williams and Hugo along with Shae Haley created an unpredictable hybrid as part of the alt-rock/hip-hop group N.E.R.D. His prolific body of work also ranges from designing a sculpture with Tokyo-born artist Takashi Murakami to accessories and jewelry for luxury goods brands Louis Vuittonand Moncler. Now, with his latest venture i am OTHER a multi-media creative collective that serves as an umbrella for all his endeavors, including Billionaire Boys Club & ICECREAM apparel, textile company Bionic Yarn and dedicated YouTube channel Williams' vision continues to push pop culture forward.

G I R L is Pharrell's highly anticipated new album, and features the hit single, Happy, an international phenomenon and radio smash. Happy was first featured on Despicable Me 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). It is nominated for an OSCAR this year for Best Original Song, and Pharrell will perform Happy on the OSCARs on March 2nd, on ABC.

Happy has sold more than 2.3 million tracks worldwide, and has topped the chart in more than 175 countries. Currently in the US, the song generates over 120 million weekly audience impressions across 6 radio formats - Top 40, Rhythm, Hot AC, Urban, Urban AC, and AAA. Happy has also just been certified Platinum.

In addition to the excitement of Pharrell's new album, he just took home four Grammy Awards, including including Producer of the Year, Album of the Year for Daft Punk s Random Access Memories, and Record of the Year as well as Best Pop Duo/Performance for Daft Punk's Get Lucky.

The Warm Moods (Pure Pleasure) (Awaiting Repress)

Actually I am not big fan of jazz mixing with strings - it seems to have a muzaky feeling to it. But ... this album is so well done, Webster's playing is so amazing, that there is no way anyone could call this muzak. The sound is excellent. It was recorded at Radio Recorders - a great sound studio that was very popular in Hollywood in the 50s. The strings are extremely lush and Webster sounds as if he is in the room with you. One additional note - Webster's signiture breathy sound is much less breathy than in later albums. Not better, not worse - just a different sound than I am used to hearing. I highly suggest this LP to any Webster fan and anyone looking for a big fat mellow sound.« By T. Butler on August 7, 2004

I grew up on late 70s and early 80s R&B and soul music and then aggressively got into hip-hop. Hip hop music was the music that began to expose me to the jazz classics that seldomly became sampled in the art form. I'm grateful for that and I have been an avid collector of jazz music for 15 years now. I buy music randomly and at the spur of the moment and from many artists I have never heard of ... so yes, do own a whole lot of musical garbage! but sometimes I get lucky .. like this album here. This was my first Ben Webster album (of which I now own five) and this one still remains my favorite. This is music for a grown spirit ... it is indeed warm and quiet and lush. Buy this as soon as possible, you'll enjoy it

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

Davila 666 - Live At Third Man 3-6-11

Live recording of Puerto Rican rock and rollers Davila 666's performance at Third Man Records in Nashville, TN on 3/06/11. Produced by Jack White and recorded live direct to analog tape. Black vinyl in plain black sleeve.

The Third Man Live records are a continuous series of full-length albums recorded in their Blue Room which is arguably the only current venue in the world where a band can record a live set direct-to-tape in front of a paying audience. These shows are recorded onto one-inch 8-track tape (usually by Grammy Award-winning engineer Vance Powell) in front of lucky-to-get-a-ticket crowds. The 8-track master is mixed to 2-track tape at Third Man Studio and that tape is then used to cut the vinyl master, thus ensuring the recording remains in the analog domain the entire time and is never transferred to a digital signal. With limited-edition, split-color, black-and-blue vinyl versions of the LP only available to attendees of the show (and on rare occasions, to Vault members for extra-special releases), the black vinyl versions of the show are of unlimited pressings. At this time the Third Man Live series is only available on vinyl and not any other format.

Describing themselves as like Menudo on drugs, San Juan, Puerto Rico's Davila 666 combine Stooges-like garage rock fire with the occasional sugary pop melodies. The seven, not six surprisingly, Davilas include singer/tambourine player Sir Charles, multi-instrumentalist AJ, guitarists/vocalists Miss Davila and Johnny Otis, drummer/guitarist/vocalist San Pablo, percussionist/vocalist Panda and guitarist/drummer/vocalist Gigi. Their theatrical live show which includes themes, props, costumes, and dancers, won them fans in the States when they toured with the Black Lips and the King Khan & BBQ Show.

Davila 666's self-titled U.S. debut was released in the summer of 2008 via In the Red Records. After a somewhat quiet year in 2009, the band came back strong in 2010, releasing an EP on Robs House Records and singles on Norton (covering the Rolling Stones' She's a Rainbow) and Vice (a split with the Dirtbombs). In 2011 the band's second album, Tan Bajo, hit the shelves.

The music industry sees artists come and go on a regular basis. Plans change, life gets in the way and bands fade away. Occasionally we're lucky enough to see an important band return from their silence: enter At The Drive In. While At The Drive In was quiet, the members (Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Tony Hajjar and Paul Hinojos) were incredibly busy, selling millions of albums, winning Grammys and putting out a lot of quality music with their other projects (The Mars Volta, Antemasque, Gone Is Gone and many more).

After a 15 year break, the band returned to the studio to create the follow-up to 2000's Relationship of Command. It's the moment fans have been waiting for since their return to the stage as 2012 Coachella and Lollapalooza headliners prepare for in·ter a·li·a. Produced by the band's own Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Rich Costey (Muse, Sigur Rós, Santigold), in·ter a·li·a includes eleven songs that resonate the classic At The Drive In intensity that fans love, while breaking the band's 15-year drought with something fresh and exciting, that slides right into 2017.

Their impressive catalog has earned At The Drive In positions on the Billboard Top 200 chart, spots on various "Greatest Albums" lists, and performances on David Letterman, Jools Holland, Conan O'Brien and more. This album is sure to provide nothing less. The band will be touring throughout 2017 to support this release, as well as perform on late night television. The silence is finally broken resume transmission.

Victor Olaiya is certainly one of the legendary foundation stones of modern Nigerian music, yet he has never received much acknowledgment or really had his albums released or promoted in any quantity outside of Nigeria. So this Vampisoul release is a step in the right direction for the 77 year old who was probably Nigerias leading star of the 50's and early 60's. Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya, the evil genius of Highlife, is still sockin it to them after 60 years on stage. If youre lucky you can catch him blowing that trumpet and singing his heart out at his own celebrated Stadium Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.

This album from 1970 is from Olaiyas Highlife/Funk phase, but its worth taking a trawl through his back pages to see how he became the Evil Genius, before you roll back the rug and get down with the Highlife-Funk.

    Live At Third Man Records

Performance Recorded Direct-To-Acetate On March 26, 2016, At Third Man Nashville's Blue Room Venue

It's no stretch to say that Carla Azar is one of America's greatest living drummers. Intuitive, skilled, and perched quite comfortably on the extremely thin line between high energy and total entropy. All too often the title is heaped upon some goofball doing blast beats, rambling about breakdowns and power violence, all can easily be mistaken for the sounds of a scratched CD. Lucky for us and lucky for every pair of ears the whole world over, Third Man doesn't buy into that nonsense. And CDs? Scratched or brand spankin' new, they're not our preferred medium.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Autolux is comprised of singer/bassist Eugene Goreshter, drummer Azar, and guitarist/keyboardist Greg Edwards. The band formed in 2000 and has released two EPs and three LPs, including Pussy's Dead in 2016, shortly before this epic live show was recorded in the Third Man Blue Room. Their sound is peculiar and unmistakable, a collision of post-punk, noise, pop and electronica (Organica? Maybe!). Think cyborg whistling glitch-hop mash-ups. You get it? Haha! Nice!

Live records speak for themselves. This record speaks for itself. If you need us to say anything further, we're gonna need you to set this sheet down, free up both hands, use one to call your mom, keep her on the line, and use the other to hold her hand while she walks you toward the record bin housing something ''on your level,'' because apparently live music ain't your thing. But if you're still reading, it's because you clearly get it. Now go grip this record and see what the fuss is all about.

    Back Stabbers

180-Gram Black Vinyl Edition Limited to 700 Copies

    Lacquer Cutting By Kevin Gray

    Original Album Art

Deemed by many the pinnacle of the Philly Sound as perfected by legendary producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, 1972's Back Stabbers scored no less than two Top Five Pop and three Top Five R&B smashes with the songs Love Train, Time to Get Down, and the title tune (plus another Top 20 R&B hit with 992 Arguments). But it's more than the hits that make this album a soul classic; honed by a decade of woodshedding, the vocal arrangements of O'Jays Eddie Levert, William Powell and Walter Williams are simply sublime, and, when married to Gamble & Huff's polished backing tracks, they render such album tracks as (They Call Me) Mr. Lucky and Who Am I every bit as potent as the better-known songs. In short, Back Stabbers is a masterpiece through and through, one that brought both the O'Jays and Gamble and Huff to national attention, but it's never been reissued on vinyl in the modern era. With lacquer cutting by Kevin Gray, Real Gone Music's limited (to 700 copies)180-gram black vinyl edition just might sound better than the original pressing, and includes the original artwork.

    Life In The Midwater

Often when you're in your mid-20's heavy realities start to settle in. Relationships that seemed like they'd last forever lose their spark, your aspirations and self-perception shift, you marvel at friends your age getting married and having babies, and you feel powerless and small, realizing that people you've known and loved for a lifetime can suddenly die. It's a serious psychological shakeup, made even more difficult if your frontal cortex hasn't fully matured yet. It's a beast, a mountain, a wall, or as in Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey, a mysterious obelisk that pushes you to evolve like it or not. For better or worse, parts of us die, new parts come to life, and if we're lucky we emerge smarter, stronger, and more resilient. It's no surprise that for ages we've felt a deep sense of connection with music, art, and films inspired by this metamorphosis. Aisha Burns' Life in the Midwater provides a snapshot of the rough stuff, but with a delicate sensitivity and wisdom beyond her years.

Burns' contributions as the violinist and occasional vocalist for the Austin band Balmorhea belie a nuanced songwriting prowess, and a dynamic and powerful voice. The album's title references a deep dark layer of the ocean that flows far below the surface, and just above what we call the deeps sea. Bioluminescent jellyfish often inhabit this layer of the ocean, emitting mysterious flashes of light despite the risk of exposing themselves to potential predators. Similarly Aisha's songs are dreamlike beacons in the inky abyss

He's Got The Whole This Land Is Your Land In His Hands

Twenty years now there's been this thing, our band, Joan of Arc. Sometimes we forget about it
and let it fizzle out for a year while we tend to our lives. Sometimes we cling to it for a year and
wake up surprised and exhausted every day for months on end, given walking tours of old
Italian towns, browsing dreary British pedestrian malls or barefooted organic grocers on the
Pacific coast. We know how lucky we are.

The less we feel like a band-the more we can continue to be a band, but escape that feeling of
doing all those shitty, corny things expected of bands-the truer to ourselves we feel. And you
all know it, everyone knows it even if everyone has to bury it to get on with their day-to-day:
the truer to ourselves we feel, the better everything gets.

We have shifted shapes and modified our approaches quite a number of times in the course of
twenty years. And we've done so always aiming to stay true to ourselves at that moment, by
instinct and with conscious intent. This time, it took us a long time to figure out how to start
back up. We threw away a lot of songs and started over, over and over.

But here's the thing: We are getting better at being ourselves. So many of the postures of
youth just fall away with time. Most bands break up by that point, or become caricatures of
their younger selves. Because money is tricky, or I should say, it comes to be that energy is
tricky to muster after all of it goes into the basics of sustaining yourself.

Every day, at some point, it occurs to me that Richard Brautigan killed himself at the age that I
am now. But I got this community of weirdo collaborators to lean on that he never had.
We've never had an audience that gets any validation of its coolness through liking us. We've
mangled, juxtaposed, and collaged too many elements for that social contract. But we trust
    each other.

This time, finally, we trusted each other enough to throw all the songs away, to even throw
away every preconceived idea about which one of us should take position at which instrument.
We hit Record and played, and our collective tastes emerged. And they, our tastes in the
moment, were the only standards in all the expanse of the stupefying and beautiful unknown
universe, that we regarded as relevant in the least.

    Total Clarity

With the release of their second full-length As the Eternal Cowboy, Against Me had firmly established themselves as a genre defying success. The band was drawing praise from seemingly every corner of the industry and with mention of a third album in the works, fans and critics alike were chomping at the bit to get their hands on the new material. As it happens, the building wall of anticipatory pressure proved too great a force and eventually a handful of demos from the upcoming album, Searching For a Former Clarity, were stolen/leaked to the public.

The initial response to the songs was unanimously positive. It started a firestorm of chatter that rapidly spread from the lucky few that heard the stolen demos to the pining masses who hadn't. Eventually Searching For a Former Clarity was released and more than satisfied all curiosity and expectation. Yet, even years later, in the wake of the album's massive success the leaked demos continue to be the subject of so much rumor and speculation that they've taken on a Yeti-esque quality.

Finally, with the release of Total Clarity, everyone will have the chance to peek behind the curtain, as it were, and judge for themselves. That's right, not only did Against Me decide to officially release the legendary leaked tracks, they added a bunch more never before heard recordings from the very same demo session.

In addition, among the 15 selections that comprise Total Clarity, there are 3 songs that were never recorded for the Searching For a Former Clarity album. Sonically, Total Clarity offers a gritty simplicity that reconciles the songs to the passionate essence Against Me is loved for. Considering the 6 years of mammoth anticipation and speculation about these recordings and the band's ever increasing popularity, the acclaim of Total Clarity is a foregone conclusion.

    Tail Of Lions

London-born singer, songwriter, and producer Alex Clare is one of those lucky people who will never be short of something startling to tell when the lights dim and true conversation really begins. "Where do you even start with a story like mine?" he laughs, down the line from his home in Jerusalem - and he makes a good point. Alex signed a major label deal with Island in 2010, released a single and an album then got unceremoniously dropped. When, in 2012, a song called 'Too Close' was pulled from the album and placed on an Internet Explorer 9 advert it prompted millions of sales and, lo and behold, he got re-signed. Eighteen months later he made a new album that the label failed to get behind and, as you might expect, it sold, in his own words, "nothing." He got married, toured the US, Russia, and Europe and started a family.

In the summer of 2015 he removed himself to a narrow boat on the River Lea (his debut was also recorded afloat, "I love boats," he says. "The one thing that I miss about the UK, is that Jerusalem, is on top of a mountain. No boats!") with his friend, bass player and founder member of Submotion Orchestra, Chris Hargreaves and the pair began to record again. What they came up with is a remarkable work called 'Tail of Lions'. Written and recorded in a few short weeks, Alex would spend months with Chris working on exactly the right mix for this new collection, a place where soul, rock, and funk meet steel-sharp electronica and iced-out drum and bass.

The title Villains isn't a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It's simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened Everyone needs someone or something to rail against-their villain-same as it ever was. Hundreds of epic shows, memory lapses, unexplained injuries, one yearlong detour with Iggy Pop and multiple Grammy nominations later, Queens Of The Stone Age reemerge from the desert newly scarred and somehow strangely prettier with lucky seventh album, Villains, set for release on Matador Records.

Produced by Mark Ronson and co-produced by Mark Rankin and mixed by Alan Moulder, Villains is the first full album offering from Queens Of The Stone Age since 2013's Like Clockwork gave the band its first #1 albumin the U.S. Like the stunning artwork of returning illustrator Boneface, the sonic signatures of the lineup that took Like Clockwork around the world and back are as unmistakable as ever, though coexisting with sufficient new twists to induce recurring double takes. If you can't make a great first record, you should just stop-but if you can make a great record but you keep making records and your sound doesn't evolve, you become a parody of that original sound.

    Tackle Box

Contains Bonus Live CD With Career-Spanning Tracks

The title of the album is Tackle Box. Why? Because it's a catchy metaphor for the anxiety-induced, claustrophobic spirit that the country now inhabits? Get it? Tackle, like football, and boxing, aggressive, confrontational sports like the historical period we currently, um, 'enjoy'? Yes, but.....is it more specific to the White House and the tense, argumentative dictator-like relationship that Trump has with all that surround him? His wife, business associates, foreign leaders, staff and media? Yes, but ... is it called Tackle Box as a thinly disguised allusion to the torment and conflicted dialogue I wrestle with between my ears on a minute to minute basis? There's that, yup... but maybe I'm just saying it's time to go to the mat and deal hands-on with this oppression? Okay sure, but really it's called Tackle Box because it's got so many hooks!

I'm pretty lucky to do what I do in this life - writing these songs and being able to perform them to appreciative audiences around the world. Never let it be said that dreams don't come true! And I kinda enjoy every aspect, the writing, traveling, recording, rehearsing and performing. But this album in particular, which was basically recorded all by myself in my high-security, bunker-like isolated home studio, felt particularly personal, maybe some kind of spiritual blood-letting if you will. Catharsis! A semi-humorous approach to some crazy political times! I had a lot of fun making it, it induced some much needed laughs. Hope you feel the same. Enjoy!

    Injusticia

Producer and guitarist Jacob Plasse has united some of his old friends-players from the Daptones, Pedrito Martinez Group, and Los Hacheros-to form Peliroja, a New York collective inspired by the sounds of Ethiopia, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and the Congo. Injusticia is their debut album.

"Some of the musicians in Peliroja and I would meet up after school on Jane Street in the West Village, at a stoop with some Old English, a spliff, and a tape deck," says Jacob, best known as producer and musician for salsa masters, Los Hacheros. "We were gangly, awkward 15-year-olds and not cool by any means. I'm not sure how we became obsessed with obscure '70s funk and Afrobeat music, but that's what we would listen to: the 3 Sounds, Lyn Collins, Africa 70." Two decades later, his friends have gone on to become key players in the Brooklyn funk scene, and Jacob has spent the last ten years refining his music on the road with salsa and bachata bands.

Produced and cowritten by Plasse, Injusticia was recorded live to tape at his studio in Brooklyn, in the spirit of the music he was raised on. The groove to this music is deep and heard in the way the Daptones' rhythm section-drummer Homer Steinweiss and bassist Nick Movshon-play off the polyrhythms of Carlos Padron's timbales and Jhair Salas's congas, forming a new fusion of old sounds. Jainardo Batista's vocals soar over these rhythms, propelled forward by Mike Eckroth's mercurial arrangements.

"I think the experience of growing up in New York and getting to hear and play with all these wonderful musicians and having them in my life has let me create something that is true to myself, and hopefully them as well," Jacob adds. "This album is for those boys on the stoop who hadn't figured out how to be in this world, but were lucky enough to know what they loved."

    Here I Am

Marquise Knox is a once-in-a-generation type of talent. And, man, are traditional blues lovers lucky he's decided to pursue straight-up real blues. Marquise has the voice, the songwriting talent, the guitar chops, the showmanship and the determination to very likely be a success in any number of styles of music. But for Marquise, it's nothing but the blues. Not the guitar hero, pyrotechnic licks blues. Not the gimmicky, tired, Sweet Home Chicago meets Mustang Sally predictable blues. No, Marquise almost seems to be literally channeling the certain-something energies and nuances of a Howlin' Wolf or Muddy Waters or Lightnin' Hopkins. In fact, when you listen to Marquise - 19 years old when he recorded this title - you get the sense that this is what those masters must have sounded like as young men. Marquise's blues are so transparent and bare. It's so easy to feel his music as totally legitimate. That's above all what makes it so appealing. That's what makes Marquise Knox special. He's the whole package. A throwback blues master on the rise. Anybody believe in reincarnation?

As you'd expect from somebody still so young, Marquise's talents have matured immeasurably since his 2009 APO debut, Man Child, recorded when he was 16. And that was a really good record. On Man Child, Marquise shared the guitar duties with Michael Burks, a fiercely explosive and powerful guitarist. For his new record, Marquise doesn't need the guitar help, and Here I Am doesn't want for even a little power and punch. Marquise's guitar skills have improved tenfold. Seriously. And his voice is, well, three years richer. To say that this record sounds unlike anything any other 19 year old is releasing in 2011 is undisputable. To say that it may be unlike anything anybody is releasing in 2011 might also be true.

When Man Child hit the market in 2009, blues lovers freaked out partly because of how young Marquise was to be sounding like such an aged veteran. Well, he's still awfully young, but this time around, the focus ought to be entirely on just how incredible a bluesman Marquise Knox is, age aside.

Very few modern bands are lucky enough to have such a unique, individual and inimitable style as well as blessed with such an incredible voice at the forefront, so it's very rare that a group representing traditional blues-rock can come along with all these characteristics and whip up such excitement in 2016.

BLUES PILLS contain all these elements to create extraordinary music that sounds original and new but respects those long-held rules of blues and rock and roll tradition. Although, it's the individual characteristics of the band that makes this music electrifying; the steady bass of Zack Anderson, thumping rhythm of AndrÉ Kvarnström, technical and yet improvisational guitar of Dorian Sorriaux and the sensational soaring vocals of frontwoman Elin Larsson that set this band apart.

The psychedelic sounds of the band may hail back to the prosperity of the 1960's and 1970's and it's true their distinctive sound may include a few ingredients of the past; a pinch of late 60's Americana, a sprinkling of blues, a heavy serving of rock 'n' roll, a big squeeze of soul but it's all shaken up into a brand-new cocktail of sound, and served into this heavenly new blend we call BLUES PILLS.

That's why it seems to be a sign of destiny that the stars aligned for this exceptional group to be born in 2011, only one year later the striking, soulful and organic sound of first single 'Black Smoke' was fascinating countless listeners - followed up by the EP "Bliss". When in 2014 the self-titled album was released, the whole genre was turned upside down and BLUES PILLS were charting across Europe and continually selling out larger venues. Now the fans are calling on BLUES PILLS to present their second album "Lady In Gold".

"'Lady Gold' is a character symbolizing death", explains singer Elin Larsson of the intriguing album title. "We wanted to get away from the typical stereotype of the Grim Reaper."

The mystical and dark references of the album title are echoed throughout a lot of the album - there's the ode to the female "Keeper Of The Soul" on spiritual sounding title track 'Lady In Gold' and talks of failed salvation from a deceitful messiah in the soul anthem 'Little Boy Preacher'. There's emotive blues ballads in 'I've Felt A Change' and 'Burned Out' and empowering post-heartbreak tales in 'Won't Go Back' and 'Rejection'.

Similarly to the self-titled debut "Lady In Gold" was produced in Sweden by producer Don Alsterberg and it captures everything that's made them one of the most talked about rock bands of the past few years.

In The Beginning (200 Gram Vinyl)

Mastered From The Original Tapes By Ryan Smith At Sterling Sound

200-Gram Pressing By Quality Record Pressings

With his astonishingly accomplished guitar playing, Stevie Ray Vaughan ignited the blues revival of the '80s. Vaughan drew equally from bluesmen like Albert King, Otis Rush and Hubert Sumlin and rock 'n' roll players like Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack, as well as the stray jazz guitarist like Kenny Burrell, developing a uniquely eclectic and fiery style that sounded like no other guitarist, regardless of genre.

Before the Montreaux Jazz Festival, before Bowie's Let's Dance album, before Texas Flood, before the Grammys, before the cocaine and alcohol abuse, before the redemption of sobriety, before the joyful In Step and Family Style ..... before August 27, 1990..... before the all-star tributes, before The Legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan......

There was an unknown, hardworking 24-year-old gunslinger named Little Stevie Vaughan, learning his craft the hard way in the trenches of the Austin Texas clubs, trying his darndest to get out of the shadow of his famous older brother Jimmie.

    It wouldn't be long.

Anyone lucky enough to have been in the audience at this early live show, on April Fools Day in 1980, could have told you that. Young Stevie Vaughan (he had yet to become Stevie Ray) blasted the hometown crowd with a style that was already very well-formed. With Chris Layton on drums and bassist Jackie Newhouse (Tommy Shannon would join up a year later), his basic sound was already in place, albeit still in need of some polishing.

Taken from the surviving two-track master, Vaughan's guitar is raw and in your face every note of the way. His takes on Freddie King's In the Open and the lengthy Tin Pan Alley are the real highlights here.

As we did with our vaunted box set reissues, Texas Hurricane, again Analogue Productions is bringing you the finest-sounding Stevie Ray Vaughan collections ever preserved on 200-gram vinyl. Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound cut the lacquers for the LPs using the ultimate VMS 80 cutting lathe. Gary Salstrom handled the plating and the vinyl was pressed of course at Quality Record Pressings.

There's not a link in this chain that wasn't absolute first-rate. The absolute best that money can buy. We're passionate about the blues AND Stevie Ray and the passion shows up here in spades.

    Torment (Awaiting Repress)

Six Feet Under return with their 12th studio album and a leap in intensity. There's plenty of classic Six Feet Under groove to be had on Torment, but fans will note a much more aggressive approach, and even more modern blast beats throughout. This is a cantankerous Six Feet Under with absolutely nothing to prove. This is Six Feet Under at its most deadly.

Torment was brought to life by Chris Barnes with bassist/guitarist Jeff Hughell (Brain Drill) shouldering the load of writing the music, along with heralded drummer Marco Pitruzzella (Brain Drill, Anomalous, Sleep Terror). The combination of Barnes' multi-decade death metal experience and the speed and precision of Hughell and Pitruzzella's relative youth go a long way to cementing this as a solid foundation for high-level death metal. This is immediately apparent in the first track "Sacrificial Kill" and expanded further right away in the second track "Exploratory Homicide". Both Hughell and Pitruzzella are allowed to play their style of metal with a unique Six Feet Under flair. That's what makes "Torment" a unique and welcome addition to the band's stories catalog.

Chris Barnes elaborates on Torment: "I've been lucky to have a lot of standout albums in my career. That's only because I've had a great many talented writing partners and musicians to collaborate with. Our new album, Torment, to me, is one of those albums. Jeff Hughell has provided the flammable material for me to write some explosive lyrics and vocal parts to. I know people always say, "this is my best album ever", and I won't say that, because everyone has their own favorites, but I do enjoy creating new music, and I feel as though with this one we expressed concisely and to the fullest the duality of our music.

"I have also found it important over the years, going back to the start of my career, that the artwork for our albums gets to express, on some level, what the experience is within. To do that this time around we were able to incorporate an amazing new artist, Septian Devenum, to take on the task of visually bringing this album to life. Every song on the album is depicted with a piece of artwork that explores the lyrical content of each song, similar to what we did for the packaging for our album Bringer of Blood. Torment has been a great album to work on and help create, we hope all of our fans appreciate it."
