    25th Anniversary First-Time Vinyl Pressing

Country legend George Strait is releasing the Pure Country soundtrack on vinyl to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album. This limited-edition pressing is the first time that the soundtrack is being released in the vinyl format.

Pure Country, one of Strait's greatest successes, hit No. 1, eventually selling more than 6 million copies, in part due to its two No. 1 hit singles: "I Cross My Heart" and "Heartland." His song "When Did You Stop Loving Me" also reached No. 6 on charts.

In terms of the film itself, Pure Country opened at No. 6 the week of its release, earning $2,739,680 in its opening week, taking in over $15 million in total. In the film, Strait plays Wyatt "Dusty" Chandler, one of the biggest stars in country music, who becomes disillusioned with his success. Strait's character simply walks away from it all, returning to his hometown to get back in touch with his roots by working at a ranch.

Kelefa Sanneh writes in the New Yorker that Strait "was persuaded by the producer Jerry Weintraub, and by Colonel Tom Parker, the former manager of Elvis Presley After a concert in Las Vegas, Parker told Strait how important Hollywood had been to Presley. 'Elvis hated making those movies,' he said - but they transformed him from a pop star to an icon.'"

    That Lonesome Song

Jamey Johnson is a successful songwriter on Nashville's Music Row, who has authored hits by George Strait, Trace Adkins, George Jones and Joe Nichols. That Lonesome Song, Johnson's debut album as a performer, is a happy throwback to the outlaw country of the 1970s, with his gruff, character-filled vocals surrounded by a small, rocking combo including pedal steel, organ and fiddles. Rather than the polished soft rock of so much contemporary Nashville product, That Lonesome Song is a rough and ready honky-tonk album that compares favorably to Waylon Jennings and early Steve Earle. Highlights include Mowin' Down the Roses and the celebratory Between Jennings and Jones.

    Traveller

Chris Stapleton's highly anticipated solo debut album, Traveller, will be released on Mercury Records Nashville. As a special preview, a behind-the-scenes album trailer can now be viewed here.

Already a world-renowned songwriter, Stapleton has enjoyed five #1 hits including the five-week No. 1 "Never Wanted Nothing More" recorded by Kenny Chesney, George Strait's "Love's Gonna Make it Alright" and Luke Bryan's "Drink A Beer," which Stapleton recently performed with Lady Antebellum at the recent CMT "Artists of the Year" show (watch the performance here).

Recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A (with additional production at The Castle and Blackbird Studio), Traveller was produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and recorded by Vance Powell (Jack White). In addition to renditions of Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove's "Tennessee Whiskey" and Don Sampson's "Was It 26," the album features twelve original songs, including fan-favorite "Sometimes I Cry." Last night, during a special album reveal party, Stapleton returned to RCA Studio A to record a new version of "Sometimes I Cry" live-to-tape in front of an audience-allowing a unique, once-in-a-lifetime glimpse inside the making of the album. The track is currently being mastered and will be added to the final track-listing very shortly.

Of his inspiration behind the record, Stapleton comments, "This record was made standing on the shoulders of friends, family, and heroes. I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I've enjoyed making it."

Over the course of his acclaimed career, Stapleton has penned over 170 album cuts, including songs recorded by Adele, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley, and has such notable co-writers as Vince Gill, Peter Frampton and Sheryl Crow among others. Additionally, Stapleton has shared the stage with such respected artists as Gill, Alison Krauss, Marty Stuart, Emmylou Harris and more. As lead vocalist for critically acclaimed bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, Stapleton earned three Grammy nominations including "Best Bluegrass Album," as well as an International Bluegrass Music Association Award for"Emerging Artist of the Year." He's also won eight ASCAP Awards and has contributed to the soundtracks of several feature films including "Cars 2" and "Valentine's Day."

    Sinner

Produced by Country legend Buddy Cannon (George Strait, Merle Haggard, George Jones), and recorded over 16 intense hours at Nashville's Blackbird Studios, SINNER captures Aaron Lewis' mindset, a laid back soundtrack that is reminiscent of the genre's most honest and musically adventurous artists.

"I'd like to think that SINNER is a newer take on classic, traditional Outlaw Country, Waylon and Merle and Willie, and Hank Jr. and Johnny Cash and all that stuff," says Lewis. "That was the music I heard a kid, and that's the Country music that permeated my soul and stuck with me my whole life."

While SINNER may surprise those unaware of Lewis' lyrical depth and vocal authority, hard-core fans of his concerts (which he describes as "a very healthy mix of cowboy hats, baseball caps, tattoos and black shirts") will rejoice in having definitive copies of songs they've been hearing live and on the Internet, some for a couple of years.

    Midnight Special

Before Uncle Kracker spent six weeks at #1 with When the Sun Goes Down, a duet with good friend Kenny Chesney, country music might've seemed an odd place to find the Detroit-based good-time Kid Rock alumni. But as several summer tours with Chesney, the Top 5 Smile and the enduring recurrent status of Sun prove, Uncle Kracker's deep melodies and sense of what the heartland means has made him a perfect fit in today's post-rural realm of country music.

The first single Nobody's Sad on a Saturday Night, a theme song for a weekend party, from his label debut Midnight Special, has already hit the airwaves and is being embraced by Country radio. With producer Keith Stegall at the helm (Alan Jackson, George Jones and Zac Brown, as well as writing #1 songs for Jackson, George Strait and Dr. Hook), Uncle Kracker took his strong sense of melody and infectious choruses into the studio in Nashville. Writing all 11 songs with some of Nashville's best known writers, including Shane McAnally (Come Over, Somewhere with You, Last Call), Scooter Carusoe (Anything But Mine, Better as a Memory) and Chris Tompkins (Before He Cheats, Blow Away), as well as Detroit rocker JT Harding - Uncle Kracker grounds his music in bands people know, places they've been, moments they've shared and a real sense of America today.

The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone (Pre-Order)

Lee Ann Womack, one of the most distinctive and decorated vocalists in modern music, will make her debut for ATO Records with the release of 'The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone,' an album that mixes the country, soul, gospel and blues of her native East Texas, into an audacious, sharp-edged work of art. Produced by Womack's husband and fellow Texan Frank Liddell (fresh off a 2017 ACM Album of the Year win for Miranda Lambert's 'The Weight of These Wings'), and featuring songs mostly co-written by Womack, 'The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone,' is her most personal album to date, marking the culmination of a journey that began with her 2005 CMA Album of the Year 'There's More Where That Came From' toward an authentic American music that celebrates her roots and adds to the canon.

'The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone' features fourteen new songs, recorded with Womack's core band of top shelf musicians including bassist Glenn Worf, songwriters and guitarists Wright, Payne and Ethan Ballinger, and drummer Jerry Roe. The album was mostly recorded at the legendary SugarHill Studios in Houston, TX. Formerly known as Gold Star and open since 1941, SugarHill is one of the oldest continuously run studios in the country and home to seminal early recordings by many artists who had a formative influence on Womack, including George Jones, Willie Nelson and Lightnin' Hopkins. Among the album's three cover songs, Womack recorded a haunting version of George Jones' Take the Devil Out of Me standing on the same gold star linoleum floor where he cut the 1959 original.

I wanted to get out of Nashville, and tap the deep music and vibe of East Texas, says Womack. I wanted to make sure this record had a lot of soul in it, because real country music has soul. I wanted to remind people of that.

'The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone' follows Womack's acclaimed 2014 album 'The Way I'm Livin',' which SPIN deemed the best of her career to date. Highlights from that career include performances for presidents and other world leaders, duets partners ranging from George Strait to John Legend, a Grammy, five Academy of Country Music awards, and six Country Music Association awards including Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, and two Singles of the Year.
