    Live - Meadowbrook, Rochester, Michigan - 12th September 1971

    First Time On Vinyl

    Limited To 1000 copies

Tidal Waves Music proudly presents: FUNKADELIC Live - Meadowbrook, Rochester, Michigan - 12th September 1971

Contained here is a unique snapshot of Funkadelic's live performance at the height of their powers. Recorded live at Meadowbrook, Rochester, Michigan on the 12th of September 1971, this is the only official in-concert recording from their early career.

The crystal clear recordings here (taken from the soundboard master tapes) provide you with an overdose of free-floating psychedelic black rock and spaced-out jams that can only be described as 'Jimi Hendrix, James Brown & Sun Ra making a love-child live on stage'.

This release also includes extensive & exhaustive liner notes from the Grammy-award winning professor of ethnomusicology 'Rob Bowman' who goes over each track in detail and also wrote down quotes from Bernie Worrell & Billy Bass.

Featuring an all-star line up that includes George Clinton, Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas, Ray Davis, Tyrone Lampkin, Eddie Hazel, Billy Bass Nelson, Bernie Worrell & former Isaac Hayes sideman Harold Beane.

1971's Maggot Brain is Funkadelic's all-out masterpiece. Absolutely no one working in soul and funk at the time had the scope, or vision, to pull off the kind of record that George Clinton and his collaborators have made here. Eccentric funk jams are book ended by two of the heaviest tracks (Maggot Brain and Wars Of Armageddon) ever committed to tape. The title track, and album opener, is nothing short of mind-blowing, Eddie Hazel's guitar is a revolution brought on by Clinton asking him to play "as if your mother just died". An essential classic and the deepest album to come out of the Parliament-Funkadelic camp.

Maggot Brain is the third studio album by the American funk band Funkadelic, released in 1971 on Westbound Records. It was the last album that featured the original Funkadelic lineup; shortly after Maggot Brain was recorded, Tawl Ross, Eddie Hazel, Billy Nelson, and Tiki Fulwood left the band for various reasons. The album incorporates musical elements of psychedelia, rock, gospel, and soul music, with significant variation between each track. Pitchfork Media named it the seventeenth best album of the 1970s.

Snoop Dogg's new album is BUSH. The album is entirely produced by friend, fellow-innovator, and Grammy Award-winner Pharrell Williams, and is the latest offering from one of music's most prolific and revered trendsetters.

The historic pairing between longtime friends Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams came after multiple successful collaborations in the studio, which started over a decade ago. As noted by Snoop Dogg, the duo made a pact with each other to restore the 'missing' vibe in today's music by creating songs dedicated to a better present and an ideal future.

Channeling retro-futuristic funk topped with a feel-good mix of R&B and pop, BUSH blossoms with a funkadelic glow, says Snoop Dogg, totally different than anything either of us has ever done. Anchored by Pharrell's effervescent production and Snoop's smooth vocals and delivery, the album features a number of surprise collaborations.

Snoop Dogg has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide, reigning for more than two decades as one of the most recognizable giants in music. Snoop's successful incarnations within music, film & TV, his Snoop Youth Football League, fashion, brands and technology continues to set him apart as the consummate cultural icon, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

One of the last remaining links to the heyday of R&B and funk, Mr. Rhythm is a pure living legend of black music. He not only produced and wrote songs for folks like Ike Turner, Parliament/Funkadelic, Edwin Starr, and Stevie Wonder, and worked at seminal labels like Chess, Motown, and Fortune Records, but also wrote and sung an enormous number of his own songs, cult classics like Jail Bait, Greasy Chicken, and Bacon Fat. This release focuses on the earliest, and dirtiest, years of his 5-decade-long career, compiling all of his singles from 1957-1958 for the legendary Fortune Records label.

Another classic LP from the P-Funk camp, originally released in 1973. The title track is an absolute stone classic funk jam and Nappy Dugout is another heavily sampled nugget (most notably on A Tribe Called Quest's Ham And Eggs). Compilations are tricky and hard to get right Finest is that rare one that knocks it out of the park. This release focuses on George Clinton and crew at the height of their career & on their most renowned work.

Comprised out of sixteen carefully selected tracks and covering a six-year period (1970-1976)Finest may be the best-assembled Funkadelic collection from this period yet, as both renowned band standards share space with several oft-overlooked tracks.

Stretchin' Out In Bootsy's Rubber Band

Stretchin' Out in Bootsy's Rubber Band (1976) is the first album by American Funk and Soul band Bootsy's Rubber Band, led by James Brown & Parliament Funkadelic alumnus, bassist and vocalist William Bootsy Collins.

On the album, Bootsy's output served up one side of upbeat tracks perfect for getting down & jiggy with it. That certainly is the case on the title track Stretchin' Out, thrusted forward 'on the one' by Collins' pulsating bass.

Then the mood of the music begins to turn incrementally more intimate, so that by the conclusion of the second side, if circumstances warranted, you could end up with an appropriately sexy ballad as a sonic night cap of sorts.

Stretchin' Out In Bootsy's Rubber Band peaked 10th place in 1976 in the R&B Albums Chart.

Limited edition vinyl! In 1972 as the lineup of Funkadelic that had made the first three albums collapsed in on themselves, some members shuttled back and forth between Detroit and Toronto and kept recording. One of the projects that was embarked upon was an LP by a group called U.S. (United Soul), a single Baby I Owe You Something Good b/w I Miss My Baby appeared that year credited to U.S. music with Funkadelic. The original album of five tracks includes some prime era Funkadelic grooves including the outrageous Rat Kiss The Cat On The Navel and Be What You Is which are both uptempo psychedelic funk, as well as the wonderful gospel-imbued vocals of Gary Shider on the opener This Broken Heart. An album reached test-pressing stage, but was never released.

Reissued In A Limited Edition Of 500 Red & Blue Vinyl In A Deluxe Gatefold Tip-on Jacket

Originally released in 1974, Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On, is the 6th album from George Clinton's pioneering, funk-rock outfit. After a brief hiatus Standing On The Verge features the return of the blistering guitar work of Eddie Hazel, along with the consistently brilliant keyboards of future Talking Head Bernie Worrell. Another feather in the increasingly bizarre and brilliant cap of Mr. Clinton.

Funk Beyond The Call Of Duty

Funk Beyond the Call of Duty album by Johnny Guitar Watson was released Oct 11, 2005 on the Shout! Factory label. This installment of Johnny Guitar Watson's sojourn into 1970s' style funk incorporates Funkadelic-style chants and sophisticated grooves as well as the blues and R&B master's trademark hoarse vocalizing; but, as always, his prickly, jazzy guitar soloing is the main attraction, displayed to its best advantage on burning funk tracks like Barn Door and It's About the Dollar Bill.

Limited Edition Of 500 On Blue & Yellow Vinyl With A Deluxe Gatefold Jacket

Another classic LP from the P-Funk camp, originally released in 1973. The title track is an absolute stone classic funk jam and Nappy Dugout is another heavily sampled nugget (most notably on A Tribe Called Quest's Ham And Eggs). George Clinton gets heavy too, in the harrowing Vietnam War spoken word song March To The Witch's Castle.
