I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin's sense of melody and arrangement Motorhead's version of Sgt. Pepper or something like that. So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest in Foo Fighters' ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold, due out worldwide on Roswell Records / RCA Records. Concrete and Gold was written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp.

Foo FightersThe album that became the Foo Fighters eponymous 1995 debut was originally just a bunch of songs that Dave Grohl had stored up over the years and finally recorded on his own. He had already lived the rock star life, and his only goal with the new material was to amuse himself and his friends. But as the tape changed hands and was copied over and over again, it quickly became clear that people were connecting to the music and that this was a project worth pursuing.
The Foo Fighters debut was on the charts for nearly a full year after its original release, selling over 2 million copies on the strength of the hit singles This Is A Call, Big Me and I'll Stick Around. Foo Fighters is the album that started it all, and made clear that Dave Grohl was about to change the rock landscape all over again.1. This Is A Call

This album is instantly recognizable as a Foo Fighters record, but there's something deeper and more musical to it. I think that these cities and these people influenced us to stretch out and explore new territory, without losing our 'sound'.-Dave Grohl
FOO FIGHTERS have confirmed the worldwide release date of the band's long awaited follow up the 4X-Grammy-winning, international #1 Wasting Light: The band's eighth studio album of all-new material will be titled Sonic Highways.
Produced by Butch Vig and Foo Fighters and being released in the U.S. on Roswell Records/RCA Records, Sonic Highways clocks in at just over 44 minutes and is made up of the following tracks:
Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, Sonic Highways shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music and premiering Friday, October 17 at 11 p.m.. For the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns. All songs feature local legends sitting in, with every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews for the HBO series, and other local personalities who became part of the process.1. In Your HonorThe Foo Fighters double album In Your Honor (2005) also marks their 10th Anniversary as a band. The first album of the 21-track, 2LP set more than lives up to Dave Grohl's mission statement of being the most ass-kicking thing we've ever done, yielding one flawless Foo Fighters barnstormer after another with the title track, Best Of You, DOA, Resolve and No Way Back. The Colour And ShapeOriginally released in 1997, The Colour And The Shape is the second album from the Foo Fighters and follow-up to the band's multi-platinum self-titled debut. Few people at the time thought that drummer-turned-frontman Dave Grohl could possibly have a second great album in him. Nonetheless, The Colour And The Shape exceeded all artistic and commercial expectations and established the Foo Fighters as one of the most vital bands of our era. Wasting LightFoo Fighters anxiously anticipated seventh album, Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Dave Grohls home in Californias San Fernando Valley. The new record marks the Foo Fighters first full length effort with legendary producer Butch Vig, who previously produced new tracks Wheels and Word Forward on 2009s Greatest Hits and with whom Dave Grohl (of course) first worked on Nirvanas classic Nevermind.
Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic also makes a cameo, contributing bass and accordion to I Should Have Known, while former Nirvana touring guitarist and longtime extended FF family member Pat Smear now joins the permanent FF core of Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.
The album received its first public airing at a surprise gig Friday, January 28th at the minuscule Velvet Jones club in Santa Barbara, where the band ripped through the entire record from start to finish, and followed up with a crushing live collection of greatest hits and rarely played deep cuts including Wattershed from the bands self-titled 1995 debut.

...Little Broken HeartsWhite Colored Vinyl
Little Broken Hearts is the stunning and musically diverse new break-up album from Norah Jones and fifth full-length of her storied career. The 12-song set was produced by Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) and features original tracks co-written by Jones and Burton. The album is preceded by the lead single Happy Pills which ushers in a parade of sunshiny hooks and surprised both Jones and Burton from the moment they wrote it: "We didn't know if it fit on the record. But I couldn't stop singing it, and neither could Brian. explains Jones. Eventually we decided it was too much fun, it had to be there."
In addition to Jones and Burton, the album includes contributions from Blake Mills, Gus Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Heather McIntosh, the Sonus Quartet, Dan Elkin, Jonathan Hischke, Todd Monfalcone and Kennie Takahashi. Little Broken Hearts' artwork draws inspiration from the vintage movie posters that adorn Burton's Los Angeles studio and is loosely based on the poster for the 1965 Russ Meyer film Mudhoney.
Little Broken Hearts' is the fascinating next step in the artistic evolution of one of the music world's most consistently intriguing singer/songwriters. Jones first emerged on the world stage 10 years ago with the 2002 release of Come Away With Me, her self-described "moody little record" that introduced a singular new voice and grew into a global phenomenon, sweeping the 2003 Grammy Awards and signaling a paradigm shift away from the prevailing synthetic pop music of the time. Come Away With Me has just become the 10th best-selling album of the Soundscan era and has sold 25 million copies worldwide.
Since then, Jones has released three more critically acclaimed and commercially successful solo albums with Feels Like Home (2004), Not Too Late (2007) and The Fall (2009), as well as two albums with her country collective The Little Willies.
The 2010 compilation Featuring Norah Jones showed her to possess an incredibly versatile voice by collecting her collaborations with artists as diverse as Willie Nelson, Outkast, Herbie Hancock and the Foo Fighters. Jones previously collaborated with Danger Mouse on his acclaimed 2011 album Rome, a valentine to classic Italian film score music that also featured Jack White.1. Good Morning

There Is Nothing Left To LoseCo-produced with Adam Kasper, the Foo Fighters third album There Is Nothing Left To Lose (1999) is as driven and blatant as the title suggests: powerful, compelling, deliberate, precise and engaging, all at once. Rather than rehash their previously successful songs (Big Me, This Is A Call, Monkey Wrench, Everlong, My Hero), on There Is Nothing Left To Lose, the Foo Fighters delivered a distinct mix of straight ahead rockers (Stacked Actors, Breakout, Generator), mid-tempo, thought-provoking, pop classics (Learn To Fly, Live-In Skin) and stunningly beautiful ballads (Aurora, Ain't It The Life, M.I.A. and Next Year) which combine for a dynamic, forceful mix from what has become one of rock 'n' roll's biggest bands.LP1

Sound City: Real To ReelLimited Collector's Edition 180 Gram Vinyl
All-New Original Album of Music Created Exclusively for the Documentary
Deep in the San Fernando Valley, behind the train tracks and amidst dilapidated warehouses, was rock n' roll's best kept secret. Sound City, America's greatest unsung recording studio, housed a legendary, one-of-a-kind recording console, and became the birth place to the seminal albums that defined 20th century music. Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty, Nirvana, amongst many others, all put magic to tape within these walls. It was rock n' roll hallowed ground. Directed by Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and featuring interviews and performances by the iconic musicians who made their careers in the studio, Sound City tells the story of real rock n' roll history, and celebrates the human element of music, as Grohl gathers some of rock's greatest artists to collaborate on a new album. Using Sound City's legendary analog console, together they continue to create musical miracles in a digital world.
Sound City - Real To Real, the companion album to the documentary is released on Roswell
Records, in conjunction with the film's DVD and Blu-Ray releases. A brand new collection of all-new all-original songs, each song featured on the album was composed and recorded exclusively for the film within its own 24-hour session. The new tracks - featuring an amazing and idiosyncratic cast of collaborators including Paul McCartney, Grohl's former Nirvana and current Foo Fighters bandmates, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Trent Reznor, Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Lee Ving of Fear, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford of Rage Against The Machine and more--passionately exemplify Sound City's celebration of the human element of musicianship and recording in an increasingly digital world.1. BurialsMultiplatinum alt-rock band AFI release their highly anticipated new album Burials.
Rolling Stone described the albums first single I Hope You Suffer as an epic song, layering [lead vocalist Davey] Havok's anguished cries within a lightning storm of distortion, synthetic orchestrations, and volcanic percussion.
AFI perform and preview new songs from Burials during their North American tour, which kicks off September 12th, 2013 in Minneapolis.
Burials is AFI's ninth full-length studio album and first for Republic Records. The Cali-based band recorded the album with producer Gil Norton (Pixies,
Patti Smith, Foo Fighters) at East West Studios in Los Angeles. The record was mixed by Andrew Scheps (Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers).
In other news, a remix of the first single 17 Crimes will serve as the end title track to the film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Black Gives Way To BlueThe new Alice In Chains album Black Gives Way To Blue is the sound of a new beginning of a legendary band returning to life. Right from the albums powerful and deeply meaningful opener All Secrets Known through its redemptive closing title track, Black Gives Way To Blue, the first new Alice In Chains album in more than 14 years, is not just another rock reunion, but something far more inspiring.
Alice In Chains always was and always will be very much a band. So after taking a more than respectful break to mourn the loss of their brother and band mate Layne Staley, the surviving members of Alice In Chains, Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez, gradually began to make music again. The band came together for the first time in 2005 to take part in a benefit for the victims of the tsunami in Indonesia.
The following year, Cantrell, Kinney and Inez decided that the time was right for Alice In Chains to reclaim its legacy again on tour. They did so with the help of a new guitarist and vocalist William DuVall, a gifted singer and player in his own right from Atlanta who previously worked with Neon Christ, Comes with the Fall, and as part of Jerry Cantrells touring band. As live audiences discovered, DuVall brings a sound and stage presence all his own. Yet when DuVall and Cantrell blend their voices, as Cantrell and Staley did so often, there could be little doubt that the spirit of Alice In Chains was once again alive and well.
Black Gives Way To Blue is the next step for a group that over the course of their career earned multiple Grammy nominations and sold more than 19 million albums worldwide and achieved 11 Top Ten singles. At the same time, the album offers the full, bracing impact of Alice In Chains, a band that kept heavy rock exciting at the dawn of the '90s and helped set the stage for an even grungier Seattle sound still clearly firing on all cylinders.
Recording on Black Gives Way To Blue began in October of 2008 at Dave Grohls Studio 606 in Northridge and finished at Henson Studios in Hollywood. The band produced the album with Nick Raskulinecz, whose past credits include Foo Fighters and Rush. Black Gives Way To Blue combines some classic Alice In Chains textures with a renewed sense of energy and possibility, from the epic and fantastically electric rocker A Looking In View to the exquisite and romantic ballad Your Decision to the albums stunning first single Check My Brain, a throbbing rocker in which a band associated with the Pacific Northwest makes a wry and witty observation on working and living in California.
Through Black Gives Way To Blue, there is a deep sense of the unique life that this band has lived, of Lesson Learned, to borrow the title of another standout track. In the end, the album offers a kind of shared group autobiography by a band that has survived so much. Together, they are in a way Last Of My Kind, to use the title of another album highlight penned by Jerry Cantrell, long a dominant songwriter within Alice In Chains, with lyrics from DuVall. Imitations are pale, DuVall and Cantrell sing together on Black Gives Way To Blue, a brand new Alice In Chains classic that really has it all; the brooding hurt, the brute force and the beautiful introspection.1. MelophobiaCage The Elephant's highly anticipated forthcoming third studio album, entitled 'Melophobia', is released via RCA Records. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN and reunites the band with producer Jay Joyce who produced the group's prior two releases.
This album has tested us as individuals and as a collective. We're five people fighting for our own ideologies of good music - we clash stylistically and sometimes even personally, said drummer Jared Champion. The studio is the place where we push all of those individual creative emotions together and smash them to the dispersion point until they explode like a Timebomb. With the explosion arrives something beautiful and in the end, when you listen back and goose bumps prick your skin like the first few drops of a summer rainfall on searing concrete, you know that you and your band of brothers have created something substantial. Conquering our melophobia is what drives us.
The new album is the follow up to 2011's acclaimed sophomore album Thank You Happy Birthday, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and has sold over 250,000 copies to date. Rolling Stone, New York Times, LA Times, USA Today, and Entertainment Weekly praised the release as one of the best rock albums of the year. The album also spawned the hit single Shake Me Down which spent six weeks at #1 at Alternative radio. Their acclaimed self-titled debut album was released in 2009 and has sold over 550,000 copies to date. The album remained on the Billboard 200 Chart for an astounding 73 consecutive weeks and produced three Top 5 singles at Alternative Radio, including the massive hit Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. In additional to numerous Sold Out headline runs, Cage The Elephant has toured with Black Keys, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Stone Temple Pilots, Foals, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, and many more.

The Beautiful Letdown is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Switchfoot. Originally released on February 25, 2003, it launched the band into the mainstream on the strength of two top 20 singles: ''Meant to Live'' and ''Dare You to Move.''
For a band who took their name from their beloved surfing hobby, Switchfoot are anything but posterboys for the slacker mindset. The San Diego quartet spent little time resting on the laurels of their Best Rock Gospel Album Grammy nomination for 2000's LEARNING TO BREATHE, opting for a tireless tour schedule instead. Their first offering with new label Red Ink finds the band further refining their pop-rock craft. Switchfoot's music makes no secret at making musical nods to their contemporaries, most notably Foo Fighters (''Ammunition''), Third Eye Blind (''Dare You To Move''), and Sugar Ray (''Gone''). Chris Shiflett And The Dead PeasantsChris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants is a new project from Shiflett, already known as the lead guitarist for Foo Fighters and the frontman for Jackson United. Steeped in his love for classic country artists (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings), rockabilly (Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran), and deep-rooted rock bands (The Rolling Stones, The Replacements), this new album is packed with soulful pedal steeland twang guitar-accented songs. The album highlights his talent and versatility not only as a skillful guitarist, but also as a songwriter. These infectious Americana-laced rock songs are some of the best hes penned, from the chiming keys and buoyant, ringing guitars of Get Along to the pedal steel- and mandolin-lined heartache of Bandaged, and from the spry, Old 97s-ian Baby, Let It Out to the rueful country swing of Death March.
Shiflett wrote the songs on Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants over the course of 2008-09, inspiration first striking when a friend asked him to perform at Orange Countys punk-rockabilly Hootenanny festival in 2008. After re-immersing himself in his Americana and old country music collection to prepare a short set and then playing a brief acoustic tour with friend Joey Cape of Lagwagon, he began writing what eventually became the new album. Recorded at the Foo Fighters Studio 606 in Los Angeles, CA, this past December and January, the core band on Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants is Shiflett (vocals, guitar), 606 house engineer John Lousteau (drums, in addition to engineering), and Derek Silverman (keyboards). The albums additional instrumentation was performed by an array of fine musicians, including Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello and The Imposters, Jenny Lewis, John Hiatt) on bass, Greg Leisz (Wilco, Lucinda Williams, Whiskeytown) on pedal steel, Stevie Blacke (Beck, Weezer, Colbie Caillat) on violin and mandolin, and Audra Mae on backing vocals.1. Additionally, the band will play South By Southwest in Austin in support of Distraction, with specific showcases to be announced soon. Full tour dates are below.
With Distraction, Bear Hands have shrugged off the notion of second album jitters to create an expansive sound that grew over three long years and thousands of miles on the road. Produced by guitarist Ted Feldman and mixed by James Brown (Nine Inch Nails, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters), Distraction is a violently self-assured record which sees the quartet of Dylan Rau, TJ Orscher, Val Loper and Feldman distilling their anxieties and pleasures alike into perfectly twisted pop nuggets.
After releasing their debut LP Burning Bush Supper Club, Bear Hands criss-crossed America opening for the legendary GZA, Passion Pit, and AWOLNATION only to return home to Brooklyn and be distracted by the minutia of modern life and shallow urbanity. While avoiding each other for months, the band frittered away its time with help from the internet, serial monogamy, and recreational drugs.
Fortunately, this distance allowed the band to approach Distraction with a revolutionary new perspective. Their minds expanding and hearts imploding, Bear Hands set about matching new songs to familiar soundscapes. From the propulsive, infectious rhythms of "Giants" and the angular, warped melodies of "Bone Digger" to the widescreen sweep of "Thought Wrong," Distraction demands your attention - calling out for love from behind a mask of ones and zeroes, cardboard and vinyl.

Featuring Norah JonesNorah Jones has a lot of friends. So many that she's been able to put together a compelling collection of her collaborations during the past decade with no less than 18 other artists. Among those invited to her party: Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Ryan Adams, Outkast, and Foo Fighters. How cool is that?
Encompassing rock, country, pop, jazz, and more, the tracks span back to Jones' earliest recordings (a version of Roxy Music's More Than This with guitarist Charlie Hunter in 2001) and fast forward to her most recent performances, as Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John was recently cut with twee-pop darlings Belle and Sebastian. Featuring Norah Jones also includes recordings by some of Jones' own bands and side projects like The Little Willies and El Madmo, as well as performances with artists that she's toured with, including M. Ward, Sasha Dobson and Gillian Welch, and David Rawlings.
It's so exciting and flattering and fun when I get asked to sing with somebody that I admire, explains Jones. It takes you a little bit out of your comfort zone when you're doing something with another artist. You don't know what to expect-it's kind of like being a little kid and having a playdate.1.
