Ranked 192/500 On Rolling Stone Magazine's List Of The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time

100% Analog AAA Mastered By Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio

    Pressed At RTI

    Exquisitely Restored Cover Art

Comes In Old Style ''Tip-On'' Single-Jacket Printed By Stoughton on Heavy Stock

Is this the album that made country cool? Former Byrds Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman picked up where they left off with Sweetheart of the Rodeo with this stunning masterpiece of a debut album by The Flying Burrito Bros. While Parsons had already pushed rock in a country direction during his brief stint with The Byrds and The International Submarine Band, The Gilded Palace of Sin is why the Burritos are widely viewed as the inventors of country rock. Indeed with this album, Hillman and Parsons carved a substantial place in music history as one of the most influential albums and bands of all time.

The influence this album and band would have on rock and rap in the following decade can't be understated. It's impossible to listen to 80s and 90s classics like The Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique or Beck's Odelay without hearing echoes of the beats and samples from This Is Big Audio Dynamite all the way back in 1985.

The Gilded Palace of Sin was mastered 100% AAA analog by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the best source available- a phenomenal sounding 1/2'' safety copy of the original stereo master tapes. All of the top-end energy and ''snap'' of the original A&M LP is preserved, while the bass foundation is fully restored to make this new Intervention reissue the definitive listening experience for this classic LP!

    Burrito Deluxe

Gram Parsons had a habit of taking over whatever band he happened to be working with, and on the first three albums on which he appeared - the International Submarine Band's Safe at Home, the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and the Flying Burrito Brothers' The Gilded Palace of Sin - he became the focal point, regardless of the talent of his compatriots. Burrito Deluxe (1970), the Burritos' second album, is unique in Parsons' repertoire in that it's the only album where he seems to have deliberately stepped back to make more room for others.

The album includes songs like Cody, Cody, and Older Guys. It also contains the first issued version of the song Wild Horses, released almost a year before its appearance on Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones. The band sounds tight and they play with genuine enthusiasm. Burrito Deluxe is certainly better than your average Country-Rock album.

    Grievous Angel

Ranked 429/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Gram Parsons pioneered the concept of a rock band playing country music, playing in bands such as The Byrds, The International Submarine Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers. His work has influenced both country and rock artists such as The Rolling Stones and Linda Ronstadt by blending the two genres to the point that they became indistinguishable from each other.

Compiled from 1973 studio sessions 'Grievous Angel' was originally released in 1974, four months after the songwriters death. It was the second solo album from Gram Parsons and is viewed as a successful example of the hybrid between country and rock and roll Parsons called Cosmic American Music. In 2003 it was ranked in Rolling Stone magazine's 500 greatest albums of all time.

    Roadmaster

By 1972, singer/songwriter Gene Clark had settled into a new life in Mendocino far from the intrusive media glare and fan adulation that still surrounded someone of his stature as a former member of the Byrds. However, he still owed A&M Records one more album. Gathering together the cream of the Los Angeles country-rock fraternity including innovative guitarist Clarence White, Chris Ethridge on bass, ex-Byrd and Burrito Brother Michael Clarke on drums, pedal steel guitarist extraordinaire Sneaky Pete, Byron Berline on fiddle and pianist Spooner Oldham, Gene set about recording an album of pure country rock unfettered by any commercial dictates.

Although the Spring of 1972 recording sessions were ultimately abandoned, Gene left eight precious songs in the vaults. Full Circle Song (later recorded by the reunited Byrds and a bona fide country-rock classic) and Shooting Star reveal a deep, introspective soul-searching. I Remember the Railroad and In a Misty Morning reflect a longing for the simpler days of his youth. The sessions also produced spirited versions of Flatt & Scruggs' Rough and Rocky, the country standard I Really Don't Want To Know, Freddie Weller's rollicking Roadmaster and a reinterpretation of his standout Byrds song, She Don't Care About Time.

Gene's manager Jim Dickson took these eight tracks and paired them with three additional unreleased recordings to assemble Roadmaster. The unreleased tracks chronicled two previous attempts at a Byrds reunion (One In A Hundred and She's the Kind of Girl) as well as the stunning Here Tonight, with Gene backed by The Flying Burrito Brothers. Originally a 1973 European-only release, imported copies of Roadmaster soon found their way to North America as fans came to recognize the brilliance in the ill-fated sessions. The album itself I was proud of, acknowledged Gene years later. I was proud of the writing and proud of the bunch of people who played on it.

This legendary recording makes its Sundazed debut on wondrous high-definition vinyl. It has been painstakingly mastered from the original A&M session tapes and is packaged with new album artwork. Add this recording to your collection and bear full witness to Gene Clark's panoramic musical vision.

    Sweetheart Of The Rodeo

Ranked 117/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

With one mighty swing of the axe, the Byrds changed not only the face of rock 'n' roll but country music, as well, with their sixth album, 1968's Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. Tired of dipping a toe into the genre, Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman added singer Gram Parsons and drummer Kevin Kelley and went for total immersion. The baptism of country-rock was a natural with Parsons, former International Submarine Band frontman, now on board. And the repertoire was wide open for country classics by the Louvin Brothers (The Christian Life) and Merle Haggard (Life In Prison), as well as Depression-era ballads (Woody Guthrie's Pretty Boy Floyd) and honky tonk weepers cut by George Jones (You're Still On My Mind). The town wasn't big enough for both of them, of course, and Parsons soon split to form the Flying Burrito Brothers, but it sure was nice while it lasted!

We're proud to present the reissue of this monumental recording in its original, stereo incarnation, cut directly from the original Columbia Recordings analog stereo masters, with perfect artwork restoration and meticulously faithful mastering.

    Birds Of A Feather

After stints as drummer for both the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers and a few solo albums, Gene Parsons teamed up with his wife, singer/guitarist Meridian Green, the daughter of folksinger Bob Gibson, to form Parsons Green in 1986. The duo released this, their Sierra label debut and lone studio album Birds Of A Feather in 1988. The harmony rich affair finds Parsons in the producer chair and on vocals, guitar, pedal steel, banjo, harmonica and drums while Green appears here on vocals and guitar. The 11-song set is highlighted by the folk rock arrangement of Donovan's Catch The Wind and Parsons and Gib Guilbeau's plaintive country lament Wind & Rain.

Features Albert Brumley's I'll Fly Away and Tim Hardin's Reason To Believe

This album paved the way for a generation of country and folk-rockers. An indispensable part of any collection of '60s music

It never got any better than this. In 1968, as the Byrds were making valiant (if unappreciated) efforts to bring rock and country music closer together, the Dillards were trying to do some of the same for bluegrass and rock. The result was 13 all-but-perfect tracks mixing some pretty laid-back topicality (Hey Boys) and humor (The Biggest Whatever), cowboy songs (Single Saddle, which Gene Autry should have covered), just plain gorgeous poetry (Lemon Chimes), and a couple of unexpected covers (I've Just Seen a Face, Reason to Believe), with arrangements that exude a delicate, subdued lushness (Listen to the Sound) and an element of electric rock (courtesy of Joe Osborn on electric bass and Jim Gordon on drums) that worked perfectly. In many ways, this is a finer rural/rock fusion album than Sweetheart of the Rodeo, the first Flying Burrito Brothers album, or the Beau Brummels' efforts during this same period, and an indispensable part of any collection of '60s music. - Bruce Eder, allmusic.com

Originally released on the Sierra label in 1979, Gene Parsons' second solo album Melodies served as somewhat of a comeback for the former Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers drummer after a lengthy recording hiatus. Featuring more of a pop feel and slicker production than his 1963 debut, Kindling, the 10-song set showcases Parsons' multi-instrumental skills on guitar, bass, banjo and drums throughout along with notable contributions from Albert Lee on lead guitar on several tracks. Sonny Smith copes with a painful separation from his wife on this extremely personal country album. Recorded directly to tape in a musty basement smelling of beer and tobacco, Longtime Companion explores love and heartache along the vein of Gene Clark, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and Johnny Cash.

Sonny dives into his self-described "sea of darkness" with a wide range of intimate lyrics, pedal steel, and acoustic guitars. After just one listen, it's clear no other genre could so eloquently frame Sonny's heartbreaking internal monologue more than the old time country music he grew up with. 180g gold vinyl LP.

    Mockingbird Time

During their heyday in the first half of the 1990's, The Jayhawks perfected a captivating sound that seamlessly blended the elegant folk-rock of The Byrds, the adventurousness of Buffalo Springfield, the hippiebilly soulfulness of The Flying Burrito Brothers, and the soaring harmonies of The Beach Boys. So it's richly ironic that their reappearance coincides with a dramatic resurgence of the musical approach they played such a central role in perpetuating. But this time around, The Jayhawks themselves are revered as icons by the young bands carrying on those same traditions, and it's their own legacy that they're advancing.

On Mockingbird Time, their eighth album, and the first with the original lineup since 1995's Tomorrow The Green Grass, they're once again pushing the envelope on songs and performances of rarefied dynamism and grace. The album's shapes and textures range from the string-laden grandeur of Hide Your Colors and the widescreen vistas of Tiny Arrows to the streamlined 12-string jangle of She Walks in So Many Ways and the amphetamine frenzy of High Water Blues.

    The Pines

One listen to Phantom Limb and you instantly find yourself transported to that all-too-often unexplored crossroads between country music and old style R&B. This is a band steeped in a tradition where the two genres share their musical DNA. It's The Staples Singers fronting The Band in The Last Waltz, Ray Charles striking gold when he made his first country album, Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham down in Muscle Shoals writing Do Right Woman (a song that would go on to be recorded by both Aretha Franklin and The Flying Burrito Brothers).

Champions of Bristol's alt-country scene, Phantom Limb's eagerly awaited return is marked by the release of The Pines, the product of relentless touring with the likes of Rumer, The Avett Brothers, The Stax band, the late-great Solomon Burke and Candi Staton. Produced by personal hero Marc Ford (of The Black Crowes fame) at Compound Studios in Los Angeles, and mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios, The Pines has been praised for its brave amalgamation of what many consider to have become polar-opposite genres.

    Shrink Dust

Calgary, Alberta's Chad VanGaalen's blood flows by unrestrained creative
impulses. He has never worked in a commercial recording studio. By
his hands alone, one line, sound, shape or word leads organically to the
next. Over the last ten to fifteen years, Chad has been producing living
maps in songs, drawings, modified instruments, animations and
performances--shifting forms pointing to another world, infinitely more
liveable, maybe hidden just under the surface of our own
    ever-disintegrating reality.

In Shrink Dust, Chad's fifth full-length album under his own name, we
have a new window into his world. The album is, in Chad's view, a country
record. It is also partially a score to Chad's soon-to-be released, animated,
sci-fi feature, Translated Log of Inhabitants ("It's like Bob and Doug
    McKenzie in space," says Chad).

Always a fan of esoteric instruments, Chad taught himself to play an
aluminum pedal steel guitar. His experiments with this instrument unify
the album, along with themes of death, transformation, fear, benign evil,
and the eccentricity of love. A newfound affection for The Flying Burrito
Brothers, and the sci-fi mysticism of the 1980s graphic novel The Incal
by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius, also drove the album.

Somehow, with all of its disparate influences and components, Shrink
Dust might be one of the most accessible moments in CVG's creative
life, simply because it is more apparent than ever how much fun he is
having blurring the lines between the vivid worlds of his creation, and
the world his audience inhabits. For those who are open to it, Chad's
adventures in music and art illuminate a path that is more colorful,
playful, and sustainable than those commonly available to us. A path
that is, most importantly, always changeable.
