Royal Albert HallIn May 2014 EELS embarked on an ambitious fifty-three show world tour. Starting in Phoenix, Arizona and crossing The United States and Canada before rolling through mainland Europe and Great Britain, the band performed spine-tingling shows at New York's Apollo, Chicago's Vic Theater, Los Angeles' Orpheum Theater, The Montreux Jazz Festival and The Amsterdam Concert Hall among many others. On the night of June 30th EELS returned to London's legendary Royal Albert Hall for the first time in nine years to play a stunning show that was filmed and recorded.
In sharp contrast to the previous EELS tour that found the band in track suits playing high octane electric rock & roll, this EELS show was a gentlemen's EELS concert, as EELS leader Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, puts it. Filmed by nine cameras in the gorgeously-lit Royal Albert Hall, the new film and album find the EELS dapperly dressed in suits and ties, and all five band members stretching their musical capabilities past new boundaries, playing songs from 2014's critically-acclaimed THE CAUTIONARY TALES OF MARK OLIVER EVERETT for the first time along with songs spanning the EELS' 19 year career. When they played Royal Albert Hall in 2005 they were accompanied by a string section. This time there are only the five core members of the band on stage throughout the concert, splitting their time between guitar, piano, pedal steel guitar, trumpet, upright and bowed bass, melodica, vibraphone, timpani, drums, concert chimes and glockenspiel. And the results are stunning.
The film features the band backstage preparing for the big night and captures the entire show from start to finish, as it happened, including Everett kissing the spot where John Lennon once stood on the stage, making his way to hug fans all the way around Albert Hall's massive floor, returning for several encores, as well as a surprise phantom encore where Everett's dream of playing the massive Albert Hall pipe organ for some spooky EELS classics finally comes true.
Perhaps as a result of this fantastic show, EELS were quickly invited back for a second 2014 London show and Everett, once heavily-bearded and mistakenly suspected by London police to be a terrorist (while taking a break from press interviews in Hyde Park), was made an honorary citizen of London in a ceremony granting him Freedom of the City.1. Live At Royal Albert Hall 1971From their earliest days as 12-string-wielding folk-rockers, to the thrilling psychedelic excursions of their raga-rock period to their 1968 birthing of country-rock, the Byrds were always accorded a heros welcome in England. What better place to record founding Byrds member/guitarist/singer Roger McGuinns new version of the bandfeaturing fretboard ace Clarence White, bassist Skip Battin and drummer Gene Parsonsthan Londons Royal Albert Hall!
Rescued from a tape that had sat forgotten in McGuinns climatized garage for decades, this stellar 1971 set, featuring live versions of the current bands studio faves (Lover of the Bayou, Chestnut Mare) as well as adventurous reworkings of Byrds classics (Mr. Tambourine Man, My Back Pages, Eight Miles High,So You Want to Be a RocknRoll Star) might be the most accurate and stirring live performance yet of the legendary Los Angeles combo. By 1971, the guitar interplay of McGuinn andWhite had become a jaw-dropping highlight of their live performances,as had their stripped down, acoustic mini-set and peerless four-part vocal harmonies.Lover of the Bayou

Tour De Force - Royal Albert HallTour De Force chronicles Bonamassa's atmospheric rise from the intimate club environment of The Borderline, to the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. Each individual evening was marked by a unique theme with different setlists, arrangements and ensembles providing the viewer with four unique performances. His journey begins in the intimate setting of the 200-capacity London Borderline with a three-piece band. The result is a jammy tribute to Bonamassa's earlier career, with songs he hasn't played live in years. Next is a blues-themed night at Shepherd's Bush Empire, featuring a horns section to create a soulful, big-blues-band feel. He then moves to the Hammersmith Apollo which opens with a short acoustic set before moving into a rock-inspired evening. Finally, at the Royal Albert Hall, Bonamassa treats the crowd to a half acoustic/half electric show of his most popular and well-known songs, featuring the acoustic band from his most recent release, An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House. Each night's performance features a different selection of songs - over 60 in total and some having never been performed live before - from his extensive career beginning with 2000's A New Day Yesterday.
The end result more than lived up to its billing as "The Guitar Event of The Year" and saw Bonamassa reliving, revisiting and redefining the many phases and pivotal moments throughout his career over the course of four evenings. It goes without saying that the challenge was daunting, but Bonamassa more than picked up the gauntlet after it was thrown down and delivered a once-in-a-lifetime performance that more than serves as an appropriate career-retrospective for an artist who has already achieved so much.
"London is like my second home," says Bonamassa. "With these shows, I wanted to give the fans attending the London 2013 shows a real treat - something special to thank them for their unwavering support. Over the years I've received audience requests for tracks that we've never performed live; it felt right that we delve into the back catalogue and honor London with special and unique versions of these tracks. Harbingers Of SoulThe LP is pressed on 180gm vinyl and has been lovingly designed and printed 1960s UK style with spot gloss and glued flaps in a limited edition of 500. Arguably the most enduring and influential of all the 1950s R & B groups - the "5" Royales The Harbingers Of Soul LP features the best and most effective tracks from their stays at King and Home Of The Blues. In a very crowded market, their success was remarkable.. The Harbingers Of Soul is a mouth-watering overview featuring the best of the King era and the most soulful sides from their stay at Home Of The Blues. Home Of The Blues closed its doors in 1962, and although the Royales went on to record for Todd, and had the odd 45 on Smash and White Cliffs, their best days were behind them. But when interest in R & B began to rise again at the end of the 80s, surviving members of the group made a few curtain calls as they were "rediscovered" by a new generation. But these were just the last whispers from a group who were deafeningly loud for so many years. The elite of their Golden Age recordings can all be found on this LP, when they were bridging the gaps between gospel, R & B and the emerging soul style.1. Think

Martin's series of fantasy novels. Its fourth season premiered on HBO in April 2014, with already two more seasons in preparation. The series, set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos at the end of a decade-long summer, interweaves several plot lines. The first follows the members of several noble houses in a civil war for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the rising threat of the impending winter and the mythical creatures of the North; the third chronicles the attempts of the exiled last scion of the realm's deposed dynasty to reclaim the throne. The series explores issues of social hierarchy, religion, loyalty, corruption, civil war, crime, and punishment.

How Did We Get So Dark? After becoming the biggest breaking British rock band with their self-titled 2014 debut album, Royal Blood's eagerly anticipated second album 'How Did We Get So Dark?' will be released on Warner Bros. Records.
Royal Blood's breakthrough was huge. Their debut album was the fastest-selling British rock debut in three years, hitting #1 in the UK, debuting in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart in the U.S. and going Top 20 in 12 countries. Before they knew it, they were performing for Howard Stern, touring with Foo Fighters, holding dressing room audiences with Jimmy Page in New York, and being presented with a BRIT for Best British Band in 2015 by the very same guitar god. Their ascendency was further underlined with major awards courtesy of Kerrang!, NME and Q.
The ten tracks that are featured on 'How Did We Get So Dark?' were written in instrumental form during sessions in Brighton, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Always trying to explore ways of stripping their enormous sound back to give it more space and impact, the inspiration for the lyrics came from events in vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr's life since the band first found huge success.
In November 2016, Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher, along with producer Jolyon Thomas, spent six weeks in a studio in Brussels that was decked out like a New York diner and featured a warehouse of antique gear. 'How Did We Get So Dark?' was subsequently completed after a final session in London with their debut album's co-producer Tom Dalgety.
The album's first single 'Lights Out' ups the ante from their debut with a wrecking ball of a groove cemented by Thatcher's thunderous rhythms, while Kerr wrangles the twisted invention of his bass riffs to a whole new level. Their patented two-man artillery of carefully constructed melodic aggression is prevalent throughout, especially in 'I Only Lie When I Love You,' which is a compelling cowbell-assisted reminder of the power of a stop-start riff and a strident chorus. There are times when Royal Blood are more visceral than ever - notably the gargantuan introduction to 'Hook, Line and Sinker'and also the intense denouement that brings 'Look Like You Know' to a close.
While the album finds Royal Blood refining their melodic might, there are other moments that fulfill their aim to create songs that will add new dimensions to their live sets. Adorned with Kerr's falsetto, 'Don't Tell' drops the intensity to mesmerizing effect, while 'Where Are You Now?' pulsates with a bounding energy that's quite a step apart from anything else in their catalog. The Royal Blood palette is also expanded with the inclusion of harmony vocals - something that they didn't use on their debut.1. How Did We Get So Dark?

REDD-ROY-5929xEdward David Anderson
Lies & WishesEdward David Anderson is an artist as ancient as he is modern. In a time when the music business desperately flails about, grasping at any new trend that will save its sinking ship, he exists far beyond its confines. Best known for his work with the revered Midwestern rock band Backyard Tire Fire who released a string of acclaimed albums in the previous decade, Anderson returns to the national stage with his highly anticipated solo debut, Lies & Wishes. Produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin, it finds Anderson creating his own mythology through a collection of songs that embrace vulnerability, while remaining grounded in his working class roots. Anderson sings, I'm the son of a plumber, from a God fearing mother. The lyric says much about where his story begins as an artist. He was born and raised just west of Chicago and lives a simple life, spending winters in an RV alongside the Gulf of Mexico in lower Alabama. Anderson's an American songwriter on an existential quest who seeks and who searches through song.
I feel like every experience, every mile, every interaction, every tune, sort of got me to where I am at this moment, Anderson recounts while shedding light on the over-arching theme that ties together the 10-track collection. The songs on the record are confessional by nature. They are songs about loss and love and living and hope. Halfway through my life, it's an honest look in the mirror.
Anderson's journey over the last five years and his response to the challenges he faced is what sets the lifers apart from those that concede the artistic pursuit. The dissolution of Backyard Tire in 2011 was the first obstacle to overcome. The band had built a devout cult following around the U.S., counting Cracker, Reverend Horton Heat and Clutch among their fans, all of whom took BTF on the road exposing them to a wider audience. It was around this time that Steve Berlin of Los Lobos was first drawn to Anderson's songwriting.
"Backyard Tire Fire opened a show for us and I remember being backstage and listening to their music and I was like, 'Wow, that song sounds really familiar. Whose cover is that? It's a classic tune,'" says Berlin. "It turns out that they were all Ed's originals. They just had that instantly memorable quality to them. So, I introduced myself at the show and we became buddies and then collaborators. Ed's music is so evocative, so well written. I honestly think he is as talented as anyone in the songwriting world and it is important that he be heard."
Anderson adds: I was just starting to get back on the road again after Tire Fire split, touring with my friend Johnny Hickman and I got inspired to get back in the studio. I had these songs and had something pretty interesting to say based on the experiences I just went through. I knew if I could get Steve Berlin involved, who is an old friend that I've worked with in the past, it could be something special."
It was just prior to this that Anderson's mother passed away, while the previous winter his wife lost her mother, both to extended illnesses. It was a defining moment for the 40-year old artist and culminated in a torrent of songwriting. Indeed, songs like Lies & Wishes Lost & Found and Chain Reaction delve deep into the human condition, asking difficult questions of both himself and his loved ones.
"A lot of the subject matter on this record came from reflecting on these painful experiences" says Anderson. After losing my mom, I decided I've got to make a record and dedicate it to her and make a statement here on my own.
Musically speaking, the core of Lies & Wishes is built around refined melodies, acoustic guitars and sparse arrangements, yet Berlin's production colors the tracks with squalls of electric guitar, affected vocals, drum loops and assorted analog keyboard flourishes. It should also be noted that fans of Anderson's vintage rock and roll songwriting from his Backyard Tire Fire days will find plenty to love on tunes like "Nothing Lasts Forever," "Taking It Out On You" and "The Next Melody," which deliver the big hooks and classic refrains on which he so effortlessly hangs his hat.
This is where we find Edward David Anderson today. His heart's on his sleeve and it's that of an artist. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy, but as the songs on Lies & Wishes bare out, when the muse calls, he will be there to answer.
I needed to make this album, he concludes. I feel like it's undoubtedly my finest work to date, the beginning of the next chapter for me.1. Lies & Wishes

DeliverIn their brief but eventful reign as one of America's hippest and most popular recording acts, the Mamas and the Papas-Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips and main songwriter/sonic architect John Phillips-created a uniquely captivating brand of smart, harmony-laden pop that was consistently inventive and innovative, yet effortlessly commercial.
Although their hitmaking heyday lasted less than three years, these trendsetting California dreamers left a long-lasting mark on popular music, releasing a series of hit singles and classic albums that remain deeply ingrained in the pop-culture consciousness four and a half decades later. Now, Sundazed Music brings the Mamas and the Papas' much-requested, long-out-of-print second and third albums back to the marketplace in LP editions that preserve their timeless brilliance for the ages.
These beloved '60s classics have been lovingly restored by Sundazed Music to their original glory, on high-quality vinyl LP. This definitive edition faithfully reproduces the album's iconic original cover art, while careful mastering from the original reels guarantees that it's never sounded better than it does here.
Released in early 1967, the group's third longplayer Deliver is one of the Mamas and the Papas' essential works, and an exquisitely engaging expression of the group's singular pop artistry. The album produced a pair of Top Five singles in the amusingly autobiographical "Creeque Alley" and the quartet's transcendent reading of "Dedicated to the One I Love," previously recorded by the "5" Royales and the Shirelles. Other highlights include the much-loved originals "Look Through My Window" and "Boys & Girls Together," and reworkings of the Smokey Robinson-penned Temptations classic "My Girl" and the Beatles/Isley Brothers hit "Twist and Shout."1. Band Of Outsiders
Limited Edition Black And Red Splattered Vinyl
When jazz hits you in the face with a stack of bricks, Mike Dillon is there...twisting chaos into order before turning it back on itself again. -Splinters & Candy
The Mike Dillon Band is a predictably gruesome and sublime elixir of stealthy jazz vibes, street poetry raps and post-punk sonic carnage. -Boulder Weekly
A body in motion tends to stay in motion, at least when The Mike Dillon Band is supplying the dance music. The psychedelic rock group shakes and gyrates with heavy, vibraphone driven grooves, delivering a steady stream of infectious rhythms and hypnotic percussion. -Pittsburgh City Paper
How many artists can claim being praised a punk rock provocateur, jazz vibraphone visionary and percussion virtuoso in the same sentence? There's only one: Mike Dillon. Whether through his affiliation with artists like Les Claypool, Brave Combo and Ani DiFranco, collaborations such as Garage A Trois, The Dead Kenny Gs and Critters Buggin or bands he's fronted, including Billy Goat and Hairy Apes BMX, the Texas-native has set his own standard for 25 years now.
With his latest effort, Band of Outsiders-released via Brooklyn label The Royal Potato Family-Mike Dillon has conjured the perfect storm of all these past endeavors. His manic creative vision found its match in three young musicians he met in New Orleans. Carly Meyers-whom Dillon describes as "a High Priestess of Trombone who channels the energy of Iggy Pop through the chops of JJ Johnson in second-line parade"-provides harmonic counterpoint to his vibes and percussion ("All Walks of Life") as she simultaneously ups the band's art-rock ante ("Carly Hates The Dubstep"). The rhythm section of bassist Patrick McDevitt and drummer Adam Gertner turns on a dime between snarling punk rock assaults ("Homeland Insecurity"), deep funky go-go ("Head"), ska grooves ("Here The Burro") and experimental hip-hop beats ("7AM At The Jazzfest") with all points covered in between.
Dillon recorded Band of Outsiders at Studio Center in Miami with the help of co-producers Gary Vandy and Richard Maloney Jr. Vandy is an old school engineer whose work includes over 200 platinum records predominantly in the disco and dance genres. His love of Zappa is what attracted him to Dillon's work. In the age of pro-tools chicanery, the production is straightforward, capturing Dillon and his band playing live in a room.
"Two tours of Mexico and a steady dose of Brazilian music was the jumping off point for these new songs," explains Dillon. "Add our love for The Melvins, Deerhoof, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Trouble Funk and all things New Orleans and this album surpasses our intention to make the freakiest, most vibrant dance music on the planet."
Lyrically speaking, Mike Dillon draws from his love of Miguel de Cervantes, William Burroughs, Kurt Vonnegut and Robert Anton Wilson to tell stories of New Orleans debauchery mixed with age-old themes of travel, love, self-destruction and greed. Delivered with Dillon's trademark vocal rasp, the record has the intensity of a Tom Waits-meets-Frank Zappa black comedy. Rumor has it that Dillon lived for the past seven years in the same apartment that Waits shared with Rickie Lee Jones. Dillon discounts those rumors: This apartment has housed dudes from Morning 40 Federation, Ani DiFranco, an old Conga player and a bunch of heroin addicts."
Taken in its entirety, Mike Dillon's Band of Outsiders is a snapshot of four musicians hitting full stride. Having relentlessly toured the country in 2013-both headlining and opening for artists like Fishbone, Clutch, Primus and Galactic-its 13 songs bristle with a group mind, spill over the sides with the visions invoked during countless dead-of-night drives crisscrossing the country in a van and hit their target with a sonic assault only possible from a band that's played 400-plus shows over the last two years.
"People are always trying to figure out how to describe our music. Maybe we should call it New Orleans punk jazz Brazilian math rock? It's a gumbo of tribal percussion, The Meters, old school hardcore, Brazil, hard bop and anything else that might move us," concludes Dillon. "But you know, I really don't care what you call it. We kick out the jams harder than anyone, and we also know when to heed the lessons of The Minutemen's Double Nickels On The Dime and keep things straight to the point. There's a reason we called the record what we did. We're the living, breathing definition of a band of outsiders, but together we deliver simple majestic beauty, let's leave it at that."1. Head

Always Be Happy, But Stay EvilA force greater than the sum of its colossal parts, Garage A Trois features Seattle-based saxophonics masater Skerik, Brooklyn-based sound-sculptor/keysman Marco Benevento, punk rock vibraphone hero Mike Dillon and New Orleans funky drummer/beat master Stanton Moore.
After the rousing success of the quartet's 2009 release, Power Patriot, Garage A Trois headed to Studio In The Country in Bogalusa, LA to record with revered sound engineer Randall Dunn (Southern Lord). A laser sharp foucs was paid to capturing Garage A Trois' sinewy, fourth-dimensional, polychromatic instrumental songwriting. Conversations (Awaiting Repress)Stanton Moore calls his latest album Conversations both a return to my roots and a reinvention. The New Orleans drummer, who is by all counts regarded as one of the great funk musicians of all time, has delivered his first jazz trio recording. It's a return to Moore's roots because he finally gets the opportunity to record with pianist David Torkanowsky and bassist James Singleton whom he came up playing alongside on the New Orleans' club circuit. It's a reinvention because after years of delivering huge grooves and unrelenting funk at some of the worlds more revered rock clubs and festivals, Moore is stepping back to focus on the subtlety of swing and improvisation, while presenting the music via intimate settings like that of his trio's home-base Snug Harbor.
As for the album's title, one listen and it's clear. There's a vigorous musical dialogue happening among the three musicians, as they tell stories, explore ideas and trade thoughts on tracks like Lauren Z, Big Greaze and the Herbie Hancock classic Driftin'. The big easy is always close at hand with the majority of the material coming from the New Orleans composers, including James Black (Magnolia Triangle and In The Keyhole), Steve Masakowski (The Chase) and Paul Barbarin (Paul Barbarin's Second Line).
With Conversations, Stanton Moore shines a light on a side of his musical personality that will be new to fans, but every bit as compelling as the substantial body of work he's already established over the course of his 20-year career.1. Lauren Z

Precious SoulLong Out Of Print Debut Solo Album from One of Hi Records' Most Successful Staff Songwriters!
Best-known as a staff songwriter under Willie Mitchell at Hi Records and as the husband of Hi star Ann Peebles, Don Bryant was also a fine, underappreciated singer in his own right. Bryant was born in Memphis on April 4, 1942; his father, Edward, sang with a gospel group called the Four Stars of Harmony, and Bryant himself began singing in church at age five. In 1955, he and four brothers formed their own gospel group, the Five Bryant Brothers, which soon switched to doo wop under the name the Quails.
Not long after, Bryant joined several high school friends in another doo wop group, the Four Canes, who were named after their manager, local DJ D. Cane Cole. When the group split with Cole, Bryant changed their name to the Four Kings, and they caught the attention of trumpeter/bandleader Willie Mitchell, who began performing with them around the Memphis club scene. Through Mitchell, Bryant got his original composition "Is There Someone Else on Your Mind" recorded by the 5 Royales and made his first solo recording in 1964 with a cover of Chris Kenner's "I Like It Like That."
Over the next five years, Bryant recorded several duets with Marion Brittnam and numerous cover songs, the latter of which constituted his first full-length LP, 1969's Precious Soul (issued on Hi). However, his behind-the-scenes career soon became more lucrative, specifically when Mitchell assigned him to work with new Hi signee Ann Peebles. No longer the label's focal point, Bryant resisted at first, but quickly discovered a creative and personal chemistry with Peebles that blossomed into a relationship in 1972 and marriage two years later.
In the meantime, Bryant co-wrote a number of Peebles' signature songs, including "I Can't Stand the Rain" and "99 Pounds"; his success led to a staff songwriting position, where he penned material for other Hi stars like Al Green, Syl Johnson, O.V. Wright and Otis Clay.1. She's Looking Good

Life's A Riot With Spy Vs Spy (30th Anniversary Edition) (Awaiting Repress)To celebrate the 30th anniversary of his seminal 1983 debut recording 'Life's a Riot with Spy vs Spy', Billy Bragg releases a special edition comprising the original album re-mastered, plus a new, live solo version by Billy recorded as a unique encore at his London Union Chapel show on Wednesday 5 June 2013.
Billy says "Life's a Riot with Spy vs Spy has a very special place in my heart, being the first step on a 30 year journey that has seen me travel to places that I could never have imagined back in '83. Also, as it's only 17 minutes long, I can knock the whole album out as an encore if the fancy takes me - no need to book the Royal Albert Hall and the London Symphony Orchestra"1. Pete Townshend's Classic QuadropheniaAs a leading icon of the British music revolution of the 1960s, Pete Townshend made his name by creating the power chord, smashing guitars onstage, and penning anthems of teenage rebellion like My Generation.
Now, at almost 70 years old and half a century after he penned the archetypal rock lyric Hope I die before I get old , Townshend has created a classical version of one of The Who s landmark albums Quadrophenia for a symphony orchestra, opera singer and choir.
The new symphonised version of Quadrophenia, an album originally released by The Who in 1973, was orchestrated by Rachel Fuller, a professional composer, orchestrator and singer-songwriter in her own right and also the partner of Pete Townshend.
It will be released by the Deutsche Grammophon label, internationally renowned for its repertoire of classical and opera music, and launched next summer with a world premiere concert at the Royal Albert Hall, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and London Oriana Choir.
The project is the latest chapter in Townshend s lifelong mission to break the three-minute mould of the traditional pop song and take rock music to a higher artistic level. In the 1960s he defined the concept of the rock opera with Tommy, taking it a stage further with Quadrophenia.
Conceived and written by Townshend in 1973, Quadrophenia went on to become a feature film and a theatre production, and was performed in its entirety on The Who s most recent live tour. For the last three years Townshend has worked closely with Rachel Fuller on brand-new arrangements for orchestra, soloists and choir.
Recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in October 2014 at London s legendary Air Studios, the new incarnation of this classic rock opera is conducted by Robert Ziegler and features popular British tenor Alfie Boe on vocals, with Townshend himself on electric guitar and performing cameo vocal roles. Townshend will reprise his roles at the live world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 5 July 2015, alongside the RPO, Ziegler, Boe and other star guests.
The rock superstar began work on the project as part of his plan to leave a legacy of all his work arranged for orchestra as sheet music, for future generations to enjoy. Townshend hopes the new work will go on to become a regular part of the orchestral repertoire and boost attendance at classical concerts.
A lot of major symphony orchestras are in trouble because their audience is getting old and the younger audiences prefer softer stuff, such as film soundtrack music, he explains. I think that Quadrophenia would reinvigorate their audiences and bring in people who might not otherwise go to see a symphony orchestra perform without lights and fireworks and a movie screen.
Rachel Fuller, who was born in the year Quadrophenia was first released, admits she had never heard The Who s album until several years after she first met Townshend in a London recording studio, while he was rehearsing for The Who s 1996 tour of that album and she was working with Ute Lemper.
I loved it as soon as I heard it about ten years ago, she says. For me it's been an act of love to orchestrate it for Pete. It's also been a joy to work on because it is very orchestral by nature, even as a rock album, so it was very easy to arrange for an orchestra. And I've remained really faithful to the original tracks because he's the composer and I want to honour his work.1. I Am The Sea

Legrand Jazz (Pre-Order)Numbered Limited Edition 100% Analog 180-Gram Vinyl LP!
Limited To Only 3000 Numbered Copies!
Features Performances By John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Mann, Bill Evans & More!
In 1958, a young, successful French composer-arranger with a major infatuation on American jazz, worked his way to New York and convinced the very best players of the time to record an album of largely jazz standards. Michel Legrand would go on to win numerous prizes and accolades (3 Oscars, 5 Grammies, 2 Palmes D'or, etc.), but little of what followed matched the sheer brilliance of Legrand Jazz.
Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Phil Woods and practically every other session man in town signed up for sessions with Legrand to record his idiosyncratic arrangements of standards (Django, Don't Get Around Much Anymore, Night in Tunisia, etc.). Instead of regurgitating then current bop styles, he reinvented the very nature of orchestral jazz band repertoire to make a unique and forward-looking statement on the genre.
The sound of Impex's all-analog LP preserves the wide soundstage of late 50's Columbia recordings while creating intimate spaces between players on the stage for maximum definition. This rare, highly-praised recording has never sounded as good as it does now. Go big with Legrand Jazz.
Legrand Jazz was greeted by an enthusiastic review in the magazine Down Beat. Dom Cerulli awarded it five stars out of a possible five.

ALIVE In AmsterdamOn November 28th 2015, Walter Trout took the stage at Amsterdam's Opulent Royal Theater Carre for a captivating live performance that showcased the blues-rock legend at full-throttle. With songs pulled from every era of his five-decade career, the 'ALIVE In Amsterdam' set is potent, From the stinging Luther Allison cover "I'm Back," to the plaintive B.B. King tribute "Say Goodbye To The Blues," which builds from neck-tingling guitar swells to a stunning virtuoso climax. 'Battle Scars' is well-represented by the harmony-bolstered rocker "Almost Gone" and the raucous "Tomorrow Seems So Far Away," while Trout is joined by his son Jon for "Rock Me Baby," and even finds time for a fistful of fan favorites, including "The Love That We Once Knew" and "Marie's Mood."
'ALIVE In Amsterdam' is the sound of a man announcing his resurrection after a period on the ropes. As Trout's army of international fans are painfully aware, recent times have taken the bandleader to the brink, hollowing a bleak diagnosis of life-threatening liver failure and hepatitis C in 2013. Trout's rebirth began with a successful transplant in may 2014, and gathered speed with 2015's 'Battle Scars': the acclaimed studio album that channeled his near-death experience into raw autobiographical songs.
Urgent, impassioned, and electrifying, ALIVE In Amsterdam is a live album to treasure. Walter Trout is on tour all this year, stopping off at some of the most prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Ryman Auditorium, as well as festivals in the US and Europe including Lead Belly and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festivals. Trout always shows you magic in the studio, but it's on stage where he truly comes alive!LP 1
