    Failure Face '93 - '96 Discography

From Florida, Failure Face existed from '93 - '96. They played in-your-face and down-your-throat hardcore. Fueled by the sounds of punk rock inspired hardcore that moves along as a guide to original hardcore music. Fast, combined with catchy elements and negative lyrics to get you angry about the state of the world around you - this is a statement of early 90's hardcore. With sound elements of INFEST, Failure Face proudly makes it's claim on the hardcore map.

    Failure

    Green Colored Vinyl

The Posies' 1988 debut is back
    and bigger than ever!

Little did Jon Auer and Ken
    Stringfellow know that when
    they dropped off their cassette
    to Scott McCaughey (R.E.M.,
The Minus 5), the clerk at their
favorite record store (who happened to do A&R for the indie
label PopLlama), that a power pop dynasty would begin.

    Originally released by the
band on cassette, then issued on LP (with one track removed for
the then-current time constraints), and later on CD, Failure set the
independent music world on fire. Omnivore Recordings is proud
    to reissue this landmark album.

This 2014 edition sees the original 12-track playlist restored and
available on vinyl for the first time since its original issue (and cut
    by Kevin Gray).

While Auer and Stringfellow have continued on-whether as members of the reunited Big Star, as The Posies and as solo artists-the
journey began at Failure. Step back in time and hear the future.

    Jumping The Shark

My name is Alex Cameron and I won't waste your time. When you're talking about me and my business partner, Roy Molloy, you're talking about the online cowboys in the wild-west days of the World Wide Web. And if you want to know what we're really about just look at all the things you wish you'd done differently. All the things you stopped yourself from doing on account of the fear of failure, or rejection. Weigh that up against your ambitions. Think about your work ethic. We're reclaiming failure as an act of progress. An act of learning. Something to celebrate.

A word's meaning can change depending on who utters the thing; and so we present characters - shapes are morphed and stories are delivered. This is a collection of 4-minute tales written to provide you with insight into the inner workings of failed ambitions and self-destruction. Unedited, uncensored, and without inhibition. I've learned to reveal what I want to unlearn. I cast a light on the darkness and in doing so understand love and compassion. Fear is to be confronted, and to learn requires failure - over and over. Celebrate failure with Jumping The Shark.

Originally released in 1970, Starsailor is the most unique and uncompromising release of Tim Buckley's brief but productive career. Combining jazz and avant-garde elements with folk-rock and Buckley's acrobatic vocal performances this album is one of the most experimental singer-songwriter records of all time. Though it was a commercial failure at the time of its release Starsailor has since become a sought after cult classic.

    No Other

No Other is an absolutely incredible record, and the album that Gene Clark himself thought of as his masterpiece. Despite being a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release in 1974, the years have been kind to No Other and it is now thought of as a classic solo album from one of the founding members of the Byrds. No Other is a stunning and reverent folk-rock record reissued on 180g vinyl, with a reproduction of the original poster insert, all courtesy of 4 Men With Beards.

    Teardrop Sweetheart

This Asian/American duo presents their first long player; a cycle of happy/sad love songs with a new take on an old pleasure: the classic pop album. Revolving around seemingly light-hearted lyrics, bittersweet melodies, and analog circuitry, the opener Scars sets the tone of the album, combining the anything goes sound and structure of contemporary pop with the glamour-filled, nostalgic optimism of the modern era, when everything burned brightly and anything was possible. Below the bright and colorful side of this record lurks something darkly. Misha compare this feeling of dislocation to an empty city and attempt to fill that void not only by giving comfort, but also by raising questions about the failure of belonging that many people relate to.

THE DARCYS are an art rock band from Toronto comprised of Jason Couse [vocals, guitar, keys], Wes Marksell [drums], Michael le Riche [guitar, synth, vocals] and Dave Hurlow [bass].

    The band's 2013 studio album, Warring, represents its third release on Arts & Crafts and the final installment in a trilogy of albums that includes T h e D a r c y s [2011] and A J A [2012].

Warring was produced by Tom Mcfall and mixed by Dave Schiffman. The album was written over three years and recorded in Toronto during the final six months of 2012 with a focus on sonic detail inspired by studio opuses of the 1970s.

Of the album and title, the band says:

Warring is moving forward. It's learning in motion. Competition and survival, letting go to persevere. It is anxiety about the future and the triumph of life in the moment. It's victory on will alone, the force that eradicates failure as an option.

    Howlin' Mercy

Pressed On 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl

Howlin' Mercy is the third album by American slide blues guitarist, singer and songwriter John Campbell. Born in 1952 he started to play Delta blues at an early age, listening to and influenced by his peers like Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopinks. He performed in clubs in Texas and New Orleans before settling down in New York. It was in New York that his live performance came to fruition which led to his signing with Elektra Records in 1991.

This album was made before his untimely death due to heart failure in 1993 and contains a bluesified Led Zeppelin cover When The Levee Breaks.

Additionally songs like Firin' Line, Written In Stone Down In The Hole (written by Tom Waits) and Wolf Among The Lambs are proof of Campbell's roots playing the blues.

Howlin Mercy was produced by Dennis Walker, who also worked on a lot off Robert Cray's recordings.

Born in North Carolina in 1892, singer and banjo player Charlie Poole is often considered to be one of the grandfathers of bluegrass and modern country music. Poole recorded 60 songs during the 1920s for Columbia Records with his wildly popular North Carolina Ramblers, so this LP is a small sampling of some of his very best songs, many of which, like his first big hit for Columbia, Dont Let Your Deal Go Down Blues are blues standards. Although Poole died of an alcohol-induced heart failure at just 39 years old, he still had plenty of time to influence bluegrass greats like Bill Monroe, and more indirectly, Hank Williams and the folk singers of the 1960s. Although Poole wrote none of his own material, his genius lay in his unique ability to rework a song, by changing lyrics and tempo, to make it something entirely new. In fact, many fans bought his records just to see how Charlie did it. His North Carolina Ramblers sold huge numbers of records for the time and Poole became one of the first country music stars.

    Broken Crown Halo

The Jay Baumgardner-produced 'Broken Crown Halo' is an 11-track effort that the group describes as "a cinematic album that could be the soundtrack of our days - it's a dark vision of a near future when survival is second nature and failure is not something to be avoided, but rather cultivated with lessons learned along the way."

Further discussing the creation of the disc, the group added, "We set the bar pretty high with 'Dark Adrenaline' and it hasn't been easy bringing our sound to the next level, but we have lived, learned and grown through a year full of personal issues and changes. We learned to be strong and get stronger, and we felt an inner vibe in this band that we haven't felt before." They stated that they were influenced by the usage of vintage gear, watching Italian horror movies and finding inspiration in bands likes Goblin. They conclude, "'Broken Crown Halo' is Lacuna Coil introducing a new order and letting nothing stand in our way."

COMET GAIN return with their seventh album, following 2011's critically acclaimed "Howl of The Lonely Crowd". Recorded at Soup Studios with producer Simon Trought at the helm, and inspired by the psycho-geography of walks in North London woods and in the forgotten grey hinterland of the city's back streets, "Paperback Ghosts" comes soaked in autumn melancholy. Blending psychedelia, folk-rock, garage muscle and 4am sadness, the songs draw on the esoteric that lies behind the ordinary. Comet Gain are David Charlie Feck (vocals, guitar), Ben Phillipson (guitar), Rachel Evans (vocals), ex-Morrissey/The Meteors drummer Woodie Taylor (percussion), Anne Laure Guillain (keyboards) and new recruit, Clientele bassist James Hornsey - a motley group of like-minded romantics, taking pride in an abject failure to care about the normal band model.. On each album they record, Comet Gain bring together their myriad of influences, creating a cohesive aesthetic between sound, artwork, liner notes and ideas. Paperback Ghosts is no different, offering us a glimpse into a haunted half-world with its strings, yearning harmonies, 12-string acoustic guitars and half-focused vision of pianos in reverb, while remaining at heart a pop record, a richly textured affirmation of Comet Gain's twenty-year anti-career.

    Creative Eclipses (On Sale)

Looking through Cave In's expansive career, between their two most towering achievements sits the Creative Eclipses EP where you can see everything change. It's been 20 years since the Boston quartet sliced canyons through multiple scenes, starting as a corrosive hardcore band before releasing some of the most unorthodox and exhilarating songs in extreme music on Until Your Heart Stops. And before the aftershocks could die down, Cave In evolved more radically than anyone could have predicted. While members have forged divergent paths with Old Man Gloom, Mutoid Man, Clouds and Zozobra in the years since, Creative Eclipses was the first signal that a band already celebrated for their innovation could effortlessly push beyond anything they'd tried before. Before Jupiter could transform Cave In into rock saviors, there were these five tracks. Opener "Luminance" is an ascendent, shimmering hymn that bruises the troposphere. The cover of Failure's "Magnified," is taken over with such fervor it feels like something the band hatched themselves, and the acoustic "Burning Down the Billboards" is both a revolutionary and apocalyptic anthem. The two "Sonatas," both ambient tracks, can wholly stand on their own as fascinating immersions into noise. Creative Eclipses is much more than a bridge between the two worlds Cave In has inhabited; it's a captivating example of the sonic rewards that follow the band every time they''ve chosen to obliterate expectations.

Live Adventures Of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper

    180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl

    Gatefold Sleeve

Includes Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong, Feeling Groovy, Green Onions and Dear Mr. Fantasy

The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper is a double album recorded at the Fillmore West venue in San Francisco. The album is the follow-up to the studio album Super Session which included both Bloomfield and Kooper in addition to Stephen Stills, and had achieved commercial and critical success earlier in 1968.

In regards to the performances, recordings and production, in the sleeve notes Kooper describes the difficulties of finding rehearsal space, Bloomfield's insomnia, and the failure of a vocal microphone during Dear Mr Fantasy. The album is an important, if raw, document of a live blues-rock performance of the period and is notable for not only one of the earliest live recordings by Carlos Santana, but also Bloomfield's debut as a vocalist. Whilst he is not historically noted in this role, in Don't Throw Your Love on Me So Strong, according to Kooper, he displays consummate homage to the traditional guitar-voice trade-offs; a lesson in phrasing and understanding.

Low Budget is the seventeenth studio album by the English rock group, The Kinks, released in 1979. Following the minor success of their 1978 album Misfits, the band recorded the majority of the album in New York rather than London. Unlike the more nostalgic themes of many Kinks albums prior to Low Budget, the album contains many songs that appeal to current events of the time. Musically, the album is a continuation of the band's arena rock phase, resulting in a more rock-based sound and more modern production techniques.

Despite being a relative failure in the UK, Low Budget was a great success for the group in the US, not only becoming their best-selling non-compilation album but also peaking at #11 on the American album charts. The lead single, (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman was also a minor hit in the US, reaching #41. The album was also praised by many critics in the US, although reception was more mixed in the band's native UK.

Bury Me In My Rings (On Sale)

As of the Spring of 2010, Blake Sennett, had quit music. Abandoned it completely. No more Rilo Kiley, no more The Elected. The former guitarist and songwriter focused his efforts elsewhere, writing and directing a short film, moving out of his house of 12 years and taking in a rescue dog. Music was a thing of the past, an afterthought.

So why is there a new record by The Elected, titled Bury Me in My Rings. Did Blake struggle in his new endeavors, find failure in the harsh realm of the film industry? Is he making his return to the world of music defeated, tail between his legs, scratching at the back door of his past successes? The answer, one simply finds, is no. It was simply the interest of friend and colleague Jason Cupp that culled Blake from the depths and had him writing again. Jason, the man that mixed The Elected's previous effort, Sun, Sun, Sun, suggested an impromptu recording session. Blake had no material, no songs to explore, but Cupp insisted. Pressure free, no expectations.

The results stand as a singular vision, in what is The Elected's strongest work to date. For longtime listeners, there are new sounds to enjoy, such as the mid '70s Bowie bounce of Go For The Throat, or the calculated Miss You era Stones cum Early Talking Heads groove of Babyface. Signature tones remain, and can be found on the island sunset serenade Trip Round the World, with the melodic slide of the lap steel, the comforting pluck of a ukulele, offering new ears a sense of what's come before.

More than a mere dalliance, this former side project now begs the attention reserved for one's main focus. As the ghosts of Rilo Kiley fade into the ether, Bury Me in My Rings presents the man responsible an opportunity to further himself from the past, and to continue to develop his artistic identity.

    ALIVE In Amsterdam (On Sale)

On November 28th 2015, Walter Trout took the stage at Amsterdam's Opulent Royal Theater Carre for a captivating live performance that showcased the blues-rock legend at full-throttle. With songs pulled from every era of his five-decade career, the 'ALIVE In Amsterdam' set is potent, From the stinging Luther Allison cover "I'm Back," to the plaintive B.B. King tribute "Say Goodbye To The Blues," which builds from neck-tingling guitar swells to a stunning virtuoso climax. 'Battle Scars' is well-represented by the harmony-bolstered rocker "Almost Gone" and the raucous "Tomorrow Seems So Far Away," while Trout is joined by his son Jon for "Rock Me Baby," and even finds time for a fistful of fan favorites, including "The Love That We Once Knew" and "Marie's Mood."

'ALIVE In Amsterdam' is the sound of a man announcing his resurrection after a period on the ropes. As Trout's army of international fans are painfully aware, recent times have taken the bandleader to the brink, hollowing a bleak diagnosis of life-threatening liver failure and hepatitis C in 2013. Trout's rebirth began with a successful transplant in may 2014, and gathered speed with 2015's 'Battle Scars': the acclaimed studio album that channeled his near-death experience into raw autobiographical songs.

Urgent, impassioned, and electrifying, ALIVE In Amsterdam is a live album to treasure. Walter Trout is on tour all this year, stopping off at some of the most prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Ryman Auditorium, as well as festivals in the US and Europe including Lead Belly and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festivals. Trout always shows you magic in the studio, but it's on stage where he truly comes alive!

STARS have made their career telling the tales we keep in the darkest, and most
hopeful parts of our souls. Delivering the hard and soft edges of life and love as
only this band can, they returned with two new tracks Privilege and We Called
    It Love.

From the reflective beauty of Amy Millan's vocal in Privilege "never got what you
want, never got it" to Torquil Campbell's contemplative and contrary, "I don't believe
that people change but I've changed" on We Called It Love, Stars return
time and again to comfort and reassure us that within the experience of failure
and fucking up is the path to a life well lived.

A collective band statement notes, "We're back! We have a new album. It was
recorded in Montreal and Connecticut with the great producer, Peter Katis. We
love him and thank him for being there for us. It's our first with our friends at Last
Gang. We made this record for ourselves, for our kids, and for you. And we are
so happy and grateful that you're still listening to our music."

With approaching 20 years as a band and a storied album catalog spanning
2001's Nightsongs, the romantic upheaval of 2003's Heart and 2004's Set Yourself
On Fire, 2007's In Our Bedroom After the War, the downcast elegies of 2010's
The Five Ghosts, the rejuvenation of 2012's The North and sub-base, dance club
infused No One Is Lost in 2014, Stars continue to prove themselves some of the
finest musical storytellers in the country, moving through life with their fans.

Piano Man (Awaiting Repress) (On Sale)

Billy Joels Piano Man established a legend via two elements that became a trademark of his career: simple, yet disarmingly effective lyrics that speak to universal truths and instilled feelings of pathos. With the classic title track, Joel captures the emotions and expectations all of usconsciously or notattach to our favorite musicians: Sing us a song you're the piano man/Sing us a song tonight/Well we're all in the mood for a melody/And you've got us feeling alright, he croons. Indeed, Joel has everyone feeling good on this breakout set.

Never before properly remastered, Mobile Fidelity secured the original master tapes to present this 1973 singer-songwriter masterwork in unparalleled fidelity. The cavity of Joels piano, tension of the strings, and reach of his voice are astounding on this numbered limited-edition LP pressing. The New York native finally seems as if hes playing in your room rather than down the hall.

After the commercial failure of his debut, and resulting legal disputes with his label, a determined Joel took up a six
month residency as a lounge singer in Los Angeles. The vocalist continued to pen songs, including his signature track, Piano Man, a fictional narrative motivated by the real-life stories and actions of the patrons he witnessed during his cocktail club residency. Joel also drew inspiration from a fellow peer with whom hed ultimately collaborate on a series of highly successful tours that continue to this day: Elton John. The Englishmans Tumbleweed Connection fueled a creative spurt in Joel, who extends the records Western imagery and bluesy themes.

Ignoring introspection in favor of rich character sketches, Joel utilizes his knack for melodic flair, filling out the songs with comprehensive arrangements and a swift sense of purpose. His talesThe Ballad of Billy the Kid, Captain Jack, Aint No Crimeare supported with phenomenal harmonies and thematic flavors that arrive courtesy of instrumental accents from first-rate players that include guitarist Larry Carlton, banjoist Fred Heilbrun, and drummer Ron Tutt. Joel supplies the requisite emotions, and Piano Man oozes with life.

Mobile Fidelitys 180g LP possesses a warmth that, until now, none of Joels records possess. Soundstaging, imaging, and immediacy are refined and mannered, and the enthusiasm and completeness of Joels craft come into supreme focus.

No fan of 70s rock or pop should be without this stellar pressing!
