It's no surprise that Michigan's BORNS moved to L.A. before recording Dopamine-it's pure Southern California in a bottle. In the studio, Garrett Borns' sunkissed falsetto and intricately penned confessionals are given a glitzy bump. "Electric Love" explodes with a crunchy T. Rex-style riff before it takes a turn for sweet, breathy indie pop. On "The Emotion", BORNS channels Jeff Buckley and Bjôrk in equal measure over a shimmering wash of guitars. But what threads these lilting gems and electro-pop heaters together is that most narcotising of emotions-love is the drug he's thinking of.

Scraps has not gained her small but incredibly loyal and growing cult following through media saturation, blog hype, or a money backed promotional whirlwind. It has been acquired through the independent and uncompromising nature of her spirit, the authentic DIY quality of the music, and her honest approach to songwriting and performing. Strong releases on hometown Brisbane record labels Bedroom Suck and Disembraining Machine have complimented a dense discography of handmade, self-released material.

Her music is a unique cosmic universe of emotions, thoughts and bedroom sound. Utilizing a minimalist set up of drum machine, keyboard and synth mixed with a lifetime obsession for the electronic pop music of yesteryear allow Laura Hill's ideas to come alive. Although love is an inspiration in a lot of the songs, the lyrics and themes mostly deal with the darker painful side of that irrational emotion. Depth comes in the way Hill can effortlessly blend the banal drudgery of everyday living with the abstract and surreal. All this set to some of the finest and catchy pop music this side of the 21st century.

Scraps has performed relentlessly all over Australia and abroad and elsewhere to a wide variety of people alongside an even wider variety of bands and artists. From inner city squat shows, art galleries, cafes, museums, drug fuelled clubs and disreputable pubs, to some of the biggest venues in town as international support. The fact that Scraps can effortlessly transcend these often starkly contrasting spaces is a testament to the quality of her abilities as a songwriter and performer.

Electric Oceans is a culmination of years spent lost in the independent music wilderness. Experience has been gained through Hill continuously pushing herself as a musician, artist and human.

    Electric Peace

Electric is the pivotal third album by The Cult. Released in 1987, the album marked a deliberate stylistic change in the band from a Gothic rock to a hard rock band. Rick Rubin, the producer on Electric, had been specifically hired to remake the band's sound in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of hard rock and heavy metal in the 1980s. The album was featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

After the breakthrough success of their second album, Love, the Cult began working on a follow-up with producer Steve Brown. In the summer of 1986, they recorded twelve tracks at the Manor Studio in Oxfordshire. These recordings, which came to be known as the Manor Sessions, were to make up a new album, tentatively entitled Peace. However, upon completion of the recording sessions, the band decided that they were unhappy with the sound, and began to look for a new producer.

The band went on to choose Rick Rubin, who was known for producing albums for hip hop artists and thrash metal band Slayer. These new recordings, with a slightly different track-list and running order, became the album that was released.
Although all twelve of the Manor Sessions tracks were initially scrapped, four of them would turn up as B-sides to singles from Electric. A further five of them appeared on a limited edition EP, and with the release of Rare Cult in 2000, the rest of the unreleased Steve Brown-produced tracks were made available.

    Electric Ladyland

Ranked 54/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Cut from the Analog Masters by Legendary Engineer George Marino at Sterling Sound and Pressed on 180-gram Vinyl at RTI!

First-Ever Audiophile Edition of Hendrix's Pioneering Third Studio Album: The Wait Is Over!

The Hendrix Family is Committed to Bringing you the Best Sound Quality Possible: Do Not Miss This Pressing!

Set Joins Exquisitely Remastered Versions of Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, and the previously unreleased Valleys of Neptune!

The great manifesto of the psychedelic rock era, the Jimi Hendrix Experience's Electric Ladyland is the culmination of resounding experimentation and several years of band chemistry, as well as Hendrix's continual development as a guitarist seemingly capable of anything and limited only by what he couldn't think of doing. As the trio's final studio recording together, it's also the band's most adventurous, and collaborative, as Steve Winwood, Al Kooper, Buddy Miles, Jack Casady, and Chris Wood all make guest apprarances. Featuring everything from sensitive wah-wah playing (Burning of the Midnight Lamp) to the all-time best version of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower, with Hendrix infusing the song with requisite mystery and mayhem, to the magnetic riff passages of Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Electric Ladyland remains one of the most fully realized and referenced recordings in history. And until now, it's never received the sonic facelift it's not only needed, but deserved.

Mastered from the original analog tapes, cut by legendary engineer George Marino on upgraded equipment at Sterling Sound, and pressed on 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI, this 2LP set is a sonic knockout on par with the very best audiophile recordings. This is also the first-ever audiophile edition of Electric Ladyland. We guarantee it will absolutely blow away whatever analog or digital version you've heard before. It's no wonder that this release spearheads Legacy Recordings' unprecented 2010 Jimi Hendrix Catalog Project of reissues and new releases from the greatest guitar player in history.

Ranked by Rolling Stone as the 54th greatest album ever made, Electric Ladyland epitomizes the passion, soulfulness, exoticism, and emotion that makes music such a part of our life. You will not want to live without.

    The Electric Lady

As she began the audacious task of following up on her acclaimed debut LP The ArchAndroid - an album that topped critic's lists in 2010 all over the world - she took along some trusty, brave companions: the original music producers of The ArchAndroid, Nate Rocket Wonder and Chuck Lightning of Wondaland Productions. And together they crafted a new strain of jamming music they called ish. In the hip hop community, ish is a euphemism for the profane four-letter word for excrement, but as Monáe explains, they set out, like proverbial alchemists, to turn lesser substances into gold.

This entire project was produced by Wonder & Lightning. We set out to make a soundtrack for the Obama era, something that spoke to the beautiful, majestic and revolutionary times that we're living in. The musical language we're speaking now is called ish. In the African-American community, we've been turning left-overs (like chitlins) and social depredation (like poverty) into delicacies and fine art for years. So we just set out to turn the rubbish all around us into something beautiful. Ish is the bowtie on the funk.

From the sound of The Electric Lady, ish is an urgent and dangerous form of dance music, rebel music that forces one to fight, jam, and fall in love. Like on The ArchAndroid, the sonic textures of the album are varied, and the past and present come together to explode and create a mind-blowing future for pop and soul music. For example, wondrous strings reminiscent of Curtis Mayfield and Bernard Herrmann orchestrations abound, Hendrixian guitar solos soar, Outkast-like raps float over punk rock riffs; defiant socially-conscious lyrics extol the virtues of soul-searching and fighting for change, while the funk simply melts your speakers: 808s boom and Prince-like synthesizers squiggle in your earhole, making it veritably impossible to just sit still.

    Hey Love

On Hey Love, Hayden's eighth full-length record, the Toronto musician and songwriter writes the most intimate passage yet in his decades-deep story. The follow-up to 2013's Us Alone, his sonically warm and emotive debut record on Arts & Crafts, is a heartrending love letter of hope and disarray, the album's thirteen songs among Hayden Desser's most affective, tactile, rousing yet restrained work to date. The title track, a languid anthem exposed by chiming pedal steel, introduces this dialogue - about loves both comfortable and disconnected, exhilarating and naive - with Hayden's woozy pre-dawn falsetto propped up by a watchful chorus. Hayden sings plaintively: "It's been so rough, we have been through more than enough / But without this love, there would be no reason for either of us." On Hey Love's first single "Nowhere We Cannot Go", triumphant piano mingles with tattered synthesizer and electric guitar, conjuring resilience from the throes of personal reckoning. Both familiar and new, "Nowhere That We Cannot Go" places us on the rickety frontier of Hayden's home studio, where the certainty of pain and reward both figure prominently on the horizon. No clearer is this heard than on "Troubled Times", with its brilliant juxtaposition of the apocalypse-in-progress ("If it's not one thing it is another / These are sure troubled times") against a lilting backbeat and a soulful sun-soaked shuffle.

    Love Sign

Crafting some of the finest guitar-filled power pop this side of Weezer or Cheap Trick-Free Energy signed to NYC powerhouse DFA records (based on their homemade demos) and recorded their debut with James Murphy. They toured for nearly two years behind the release of 2010's Stuck on Nothing and the accolades
came in, including a Best New Music nod from Pitchfork and Rolling Stone's assessment that the band "totally fucking rules."

While it might have seemed an odd fit for a power-riffing pop rock act to put out a record on a West Village disco label, the euphoric vibe of Free Energy perfectly complimented a roster of artistically different but equally accomplished bands, such as Black Dice, Yacht, The Rapture, and LCD Soundsystem. This sophomore release demonstrates the band doing what they love-condensing handclaps, harmonies, massive choruses, and lazer guided guitar leads into tracks like "Electric Fever", "Hey Tonight" and "Girls Want Rock" - while working
a time-tested formula that can still sound fresh in the right hands. Much like their DFA debut, Love Sign flirts with hysteria-inducing pop songwriting and classic rock production, this time around working with John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.
and The Hold Steady). Released on the band's new imprint "Free Energy Records".

    Love Will Prevail

Sean Ragon has been active in the DIY punk, industrial and experimental music communities on the east coast for over 15 years. Ragon also runs a record store and label in Brooklyn (Heaven Street and Blind Prophet Records, respectively). He has been recording under the moniker of Cult of Youth for the last five years.

Cult of Youth's last album produced by Chris Coady was a huge leap forward for the band, which had expanded to a four piece. It landed them on tours with Zola Jesus, Cold Cave and Iceage last summer and caused quite a stir not only among more indie-centric press outlets such as Pitchfork and Stereogum but with underground publications such as Heathen Harvest and Special Interests magazine as well.

For this album Ragon built his own recording studio from scratch in the back of his record store. This allowed him to control every aspect of the album and to take his time recording; in addition to vocals, he plays five different instruments on Love Will Prevail (electric and acoustic guitar, trombone, synth, and bass). He also engineered and mixed the entire album by himself.

For long time fans of the project, Love Will Prevail sees the marriage of the spontaneity of the earlier releases with the better recording quality of the more recent eponymous LP. This record features contributions from Glenn Maryansky on drums and Christiana Key on violin as well as percussion from the enigmatic Ning Nong and female vocals from former Battletorn vocalist (and Sean's long term girlfriend) Beverly Hames.

Love Will Prevail expands on the psychedelic neofolk foundation of the early work and adds lush atmospheres not dissimilar from Austrian post-industrial futurists Nový Svt (or even the more haunting side of late-60s Miles Davis). There is also an intentional nod to the Crass Records bands that influenced Ragon as a teenager and a tasteful hint of Velvet Underground worship.

The lyrical content is also fairly politically charged this time around, and serves as a plea for peace in a world gone mad. A far cry from the first self released single, Train To Kill, perhaps. The first single, "Man and Man's Ruin" finally realizes the majestic beauty that has always been bubbling under the surface of Ragon's work. Love Will Prevail is by far and away Cult of Youth's crowning achievement and it is the true embodiment of DIY idealism.

    Love And War

Though Daniel Merriweather may be best known in the U.S. as the remarkably soulful voice behind Stop Me (a standout track from DJ/producer Mark Ronsons eclectic album version that went to #1 on the UKs airplay chart), the 27-year-old Melbourne native firmly establishes himself as a solo artist in his own right on Love & War, which pulses with 60s soul keyboards and horns, warm textures of acoustic and electric guitar, and cinematic string arrangements, all anchored by Merriweathers combustible vocals. Love & War is also a showcase for Merriweathers considerable songwriting talents. He wrote nearly every song on the album with various musician friends, and then presented his compositions to Ronson (who produced the album) and his backing band, The Dap Kings (of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings), who also played on Amy Winehouses Back to Black and Ronsons Version.

    The Cry Of Love

Remastered By Bernie Grundman From The Original Analog Masters

The Cry Of Love is being reissued vinyl, reintroduced with original album art and track orders and remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog masters.

Originally released in 1971, and last issued on CD in 1992, The Cry Of Love was compiled and mixed by Hendrix's longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell. The bulk of these tracks were recorded between December 1969 and the summer of 1970 at Electric Lady Studios in New York, and were intended to be part of an ambitious double LP tentatively titled First Rays of the New Rising Sun. Commercially, The Cry Of Love was a huge success, reaching #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the UK, and spawned favorites such as ''Angel,'' ''Freedom,'' and ''Ezy Ryder.'' While Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox comprised the rhythm section on the lion's share of the tracks, Buddy Miles played drums on ''Ezy Ryder'' and Noel Redding played bass on ''My Friend'' (recorded in 1968, before his departure from the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The Cry Of Love also includes the participation of notable guest musicians including Steve Winwood, Chris Wood and Buzzy Linhart among others.

Donovan's 1967 release Wear Your Love Like Heaven is one of his brightest and most upbeat albums. Also released as the first half of the landmark two-CD box set A Gift from a Flower to a Garden, it finds Donovan in mostly electric mode, and taking an increasingly active production role that he would maintain for the rest of his career. In addition to the dreamy title hit, the enchanting set features such beloved Donovan standards as Mad John's Escape, Oh Gosh, Skip-A-Long Sam and the Shakespeare-inspired Under the Greenwood Tree. In addition to its pristine original mono mix, this definitive LP edition boasts one of Donovan's most memorable cover designs, featuring a haunting infrared photograph of the artist by noted photographer Karl Ferris.

    A Love Of Shared Disasters

Long Awaited Repress On Brown Colored Vinyl

With a full baker's dozen's worth of musicians listed, the debut album by the U.K.'s Crippled Black Phoenix is part of the whole post-Broken Social Scene concept of band as endlessly mutating collective, but A Love of Shared Disasters is considerably more mutant than most. The driving force behind the band is Justin Greaves, former drummer for sludgy art-stoner metal acts Iron Monkey and Electric Wizard, but the heaviness sporadically on display here owes more to Mogwai (whose bassist Dominic Aitchison is a key participant) and Godspeed You Black Emperor!, an obvious touchstone for the epic centerpiece Long Cold Summer. Elsewhere, there are twisted fragments of Neutral Milk Hotel's lo-fi emo-psych, traditional British folk-rock in the Steeleye Span mold (complete with harmonium parts straight out of the Shirley & Dolly Collins songbook), tunes reminiscent of old sea shanties warped within an inch of their life (see the opening The Lament of the Nithered Mercenary and the vintage Fairport Convention gone doom metal feel of The Northern Cobbler), and unexpected hits of straight-up Sigur Rós ethereality. It shouldn't make a bit of sense, and it doesn't in any sort of logical way, but there's an underlying vision to A Love of Shared Disasters, a cracked singularity that keeps it from being just a random bunch of acid-fried weird ideas glued together higgledy piggledy.

This is a comparison disc cut at 33 1/3 RPM on one side and at 45 RPM on the other. The amount of information and level on both sides is the same with the only differences being the speed at which the lathe was traveling during cutting and that a cartridge can better track the 45 RPM side compared with the 33 RPM side. At 33 Dusty sounds alive, at 45 she is in the room with you! Available now on Classic Records Clarity Vinyl SVP-II 200g.

Clarity Vinyl represents the ultimate in vinyl formulations because it is comprised of over 90% of the highest quality co-polymer available, a key component in vinyl pellets used for manufacturing vinyl records. Further, Clarity Vinyl has no carbon black additive, common in vinyl formulas for LPs. Carbon Black contains trace metals that become magnetized and cause electrical distortions in cartridges during playback that smears the sound. By taking out the Carbon Black, Classic Records is able to dramatically reduce the electrical distortions and thus bring more clarity to the playback process, providing a more realistic musical experience to the listener and LP enthusiast.

Our Love To Admire (10th Anniversary)

    10 Year Anniversary Double LP

    Remastered By Gavin Lurssen

In the late 90s, Interpol emerged as one of the American indie-rock scene's most exciting and inventive new bands. The New York outfit's artfully layered sound drew comparisons to a multitude of notable post-punk combos, but Interpol's cutting-edge sound was wholly its own. That's the case with 2007's Our Love to Admire, the band's third album as well as its first major-label release and one of the group's biggest selling albums.

With the full participation of the band members, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Our Love to Admire, UMe will release a special expanded-edition reissue of this beloved classic: a double LP. The LP will debut a sparkling new edition of the original album, remastered for this release by Gavin Lurssen with all of its original packaging intact.

Interpol formed in the late 1990s and quickly established a dense, intoxicating sound featuring layers of guitar, bass and synthesizers. The band came up through the vibrant New York scene, alongside such notable contemporaries as the Strokes and the National, but gained crucial early attention in Britain, where they recorded a prestigious live session for legendary BBC DJ John Peel.

Our Love to Admire marked a critical and commercial breakthrough for the band. Recorded at New York's Electric Lady and the Magic Shop studios with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Death Cab for Cutie), the album boasts an expansive, cinematic sound that drove home such notable songs as The Heinrich Maneuver, Pioneer to the Falls, No I In Threesome, Mammoth and Rest My Chemistry.

Upon its release, Our Love to Admire debuted in the Top Five in both the U.S. and the U.K. Uncut described the album as a majestic, grandiose, machine-tooled album, subtly orchestrated with gothic pianos and doomy organs. Billboard noted that the band retains its flair for dramatic images and ominous guitar lines... with producer/mixer Rich Costey onboard, these signatures uncoil into more complex soundscapes.

In the years since its original release, Our Love to Admire has remained a cornerstone of Interpol's body of work, and continues to stand as one of the key albums of the musical era in which it was created. Now, with this distinctive 10th-anniversary edition, this modern classic shines more brightly than ever.

The Last Night Of The Electrics

With more than 118 million records sold all over the world, Status Quo is one of the most important UK rock bands of all time. They have become one of the top names of British rock history year after year, album after album. Looking at the list of their achievements, with the most impressive series of gold records, top 10 singles, sold out shows and TV performances, one would say that they have conquered this status long ago. With the release if their phenomenally successful acoustic albums during the last three years, Status Quo made clear that they are still force to be reckoned with. Status Quo are the only band able to stick to their rock and roll roots, but adding a new twist, while remaining loyal to the sound their fans love. In concert they have the energy of a young band in their early twenties, even if the band has celebrated almost 50 years of glorious success.

On December 11, 2016 Francis Rossi, Andrew Bown, John 'Rhino' Edwards and Leon Cave plugged their instruments in and brought their thunderous electric live show back to the world's venues for what they considered to be the last time. Packed with hits, both new and old, taken from that unbelievable back catalogue, Status Quo sounded as young and fresh as ever. When they climbed the stage of The O2 in London, the band was thinking that this was meant to be Status Quo's last of their last full-on electric shows. The brand new live release "The Last Night Of The Electric" captures the magic moment on both audio and video.

But you never know where life will take you following the incredible reaction and success of their recent European Tour and as a result of requests from fans and promoters alike, Status Quo decided to extend the Last Night of the Electrics tour into 2017, initially visiting territories not included on the current tour. After this tour the telecasters shall finally be unplugged and amps turned off, seriously.

Dire Straits Stretch Out With Extended, Ambitious Arrangements And Moody Atmospherics: Love Over Gold Mesmerizes With Tension, Contrast, Interplay, And Craftsmanship

Mobile Fidelity 45RPM 2LP Set Of Love Over Gold Touts Unsurpassed Spaciousness, Imaging, And Transparency: Mastered From The Original Tapes, Music Emerges With New Details And Tones

Love Over Gold Includes The Epic Telegraph Road And Aching Private Investigations: Heartfelt Narrative Songs Steeped In Patience, Drama, Sadness, And Romance

Love Over Gold is all about contrast, tension, and crafty composition. Dire Straits' fourth album finds the band continuing to evolve by welcoming increasingly bold arrangements and exploring moody variations. Parts edgy and sharp, and part seductive and relaxed, the five lengthy songs on Love Over Gold sprawl out like a long, winding road cutting through a pastoral landscape. The addition of a new rhythm guitarist, Hal Lindes, encourages deeper atmospheric interplay while the presence of engineer Neil Dorfsman - his first appearance in what would be a long string of collaborations with Mark Knopfler - ensures stunning sonic properties that now come to life like never before.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's 180g 45RPM 2LP version of Love Over Gold teems with superb balances, front-to-back soundstages, and crystalline purity. The dead-quiet surfaces and extra-wide grooves bring forward previously obscured details, extra information, and mastering-studio-quality transients. The distinctive textures of a host of instruments - marimbas, acoustic and electric guitars, vibes, synthesizers - further enhance the ambitiousness of the 1982 album.

On this audiophile pressing, everything Knopfler does seemingly turn to gold. Gearheads will hear the unique characteristics afforded by his use of a Mesa Boogie Mark II guitar amplifier (soon again employed on Brothers in Arms) and carefully chosen selection of Schecter Stratocasters, 1937 National steel guitar, and Ovation six- and twelve-string models. Reference-level separation and lifelike imaging place Knopfler and company in your room, while tube-like warmth, spaciousness, and airiness causes the music to breathe anew. This LP will be in your rotation for months.

It doesn't take long to realize Love Over Gold is like no other Dire Straits album - and a staunch proclamation of independence from a band that continued to take longer creative strides with each successive project. Fearlessly extending over metaphoric hills, valleys, and plains for nearly 14-and-a-half minutes, the opening Telegraph Road is a guitar hero's dream and exhilarating showcase for Lindes' give-and-take capabilities. In tandem with keyboardist Alan Clark, Lindes provides the ideal foil for not only Knopfler but the long-time rhythm section of bassist John Illsley and drummer Pick Withers.

Taking its time to arrive at destinations, the quintet paints evocative musical and lyrical portraits steeped in patience, drama, and, often times, sadness. Desolate emotions color the sweeping Telegraph Road and barren Private Investigations, which finds Knopfler in the role of a tired private eye contemplating the emptiness and scars of his profession. Vocally, the Dire Straits leader remains in top form throughout, his whiskey-coated rasp conveying romantic ache, ongoing frustration, and what Rolling Stone beautifully deemed wracking schizophrenia between the heart and the heartless, the loving and the pain.

Called Dire Straits' prog-rock statement, Love Over Gold is a classic that defies labeling and avoids aging.

    Life, Death, Love, & Freedom

The poet laureate of the interstate's new collection of modern electric folk songs entitled Life, Death, Love And Freedom are the most intimate, honest and poignant of his career. With backing from Mellencamp's legendary touring band, the album's 14 new tracks were recorded at his studio in Bloomington, Indiana and mixed in Los Angeles by the great T. Bone Burnett. Mellencamp cites Burnett's production as key to finding the soul of each song.

    The Way We Move

The Way We Move, the new album from acclaimed musician Langhorne Slim will see its release on Ramseur Records. The album follows-up his critically acclaimed 2009 release Be Set Free which Paste says, perfectly captures the lyrical simplicity of bygone times with straightforward lines. In celebration of the release, Langhorne Slim & The Law will continue to tour throughout 2012.

The 14-track album was produced by Kenny Siegal and Langhorne Slim & The Law at Old Soul Studios in Catskill, NY. Langhorne's band, The Law, consists of David Moore (piano/keyboards/banjos/electric guitar/vocals), Jeffrey Ratner (bass/background vocals) and Malachi DeLorenzo (drums/percussion/background vocals).

Of the new album, Langhorne comments, My goal for this record was to create something that we could stand by and be proud of for the rest of our lives. To make music that is real, raw and beautiful. Langhorne Slim began his musical career in Brooklyn in 2004. His previous releases include Electric Love Letter EP (2004), When The Sun's Gone Down (2005), Engine EP (2006), Langhorne Slim (2008) and his latest, Be Set Free (2009). Time

Time was the last truly great album from the Electric Light Orchestra, released as their world-conquering fame was starting to ebb. A concept album (a brave undertaking in 1981), Time has a space-age theme and is set at the end of the 21st century. What's most remarkable is how all this science-fiction silliness is salvaged by the exuberant playing. Yours Truly, 2095 uses a number of ELO's hallmarks--a catchy synth riff, sweeping strings, and over-the-top production--to tell a tale of a man in love with a robot; the album's highlight, it should have been a hit single. The epic Twilight and Hold on Tight--which practically bounces along like an overexcited puppy--also stand among ELO's finest works. --Robert Burrow
