    True

Loaded with sick beats and sonic explorations, Sweden's top EDM DJ kills on his 2013 debut album True. With hot dance floor grooves, Avicii (ak.a Tom Bergling) explodes with EDM fun. Going for a truly global sound, Avicii picks up several bluegrass rifs. More straight-up electronic fare is sure to move your rump. This album peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart in both 2014 and 2015. It's biggest hits have been Hey Brother, Wake Me Up, Addicted to You and You Make Me. Former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert makes an appearance on Lay Me Down. Produced by Aloe Blacc.

    Sound Of A Woman

Combining the thickest and most addictive bassline you're likely to hear this year with flashes of fizzing EDM synths and an impressive powerhouse
vocal, this future deep house classic is the perfect mix of the old and the new. - Yahoo!

Kiesza is a fascinating pop polymath whose music is as colourful, diverse and surprising as the twists and turns that led her where she is today. - MTV

Kiesza's sound is as diverse as her resume. Having served as a reservist in the Royal Canadian Navy and competed in Miss Universe Canada, she
played folk ditties before gravitating toward the electronic grooves of her debut album. The release is anchored by the breakout single Hideaway, a

    Unapologetic

Unapologetic is the seventh studio album by Rihanna, originally released on November 19, 2012, by Def Jam Recordings and SRP Records. As executive producer, Rihanna enlisted previous collaborators The-Dream, David Guetta, Chase & Status, and StarGate to work alongside new collaborators such as Parker Ighile, Mike Will Made-It, and Labrinth. Unapologetic is mainly a pop and R&B album that incorporates elements of dubstep, hip hop, EDM and reggae in its production, similar to the sound of her previous albums Talk That Talk and Rated R.The album produced seven singles including Diamonds and Stay. The former peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100 where it became Rihanna's twelfth number one song, tying her with Madonna and The Supremes for fourth most number one songs in the history of the chart.

    Into The Sun

Limited Edition Red And White Colored Vinyl

Going scattershot pays dividends on Into the Sun, the very varied 2015 album from Bassnectar and one of most satisfying releases from the heavy electro producer to date. It's especially satisfying when wearing headphones, as interludes and slowly developing tracks dot the album with moments that aren't so dancefloory, although aggressive and bass-heavy highlights like The Mystery Spot and the ridiculously fun Blow (it sounds like Cookie Monster singing a trap song) could certainly rip the speakers at high volume. Like previous releases, the album is divided between Bassnectar productions and remix work for other artists, but what's new this time out are the 2015 Remixes, with old Bassnectar cuts like Breathing getting interesting updates. Try one of his tight and lean EPs for a taster, then come back for a full-length EDM ride worth taking.

    Night People

Night People is a series of character studies. Alienated and out of fashion, these people stay up all night, stumbling through isolation to explore trauma and ecstasy in search of their own glamour. The boundaries of reality dissolve in their environment, and the light from within transforms street lamps at last call into beacons towards infinity. Guided through fuzz and fog, truths emerge, as the knots binding sensuality and spirit unravel. In a world defined by EDM's music, the Night People's stories are projected, as reality turns into a film.

Like the characters in his songs, songwriter and guitarist Daniel Burton has experienced a rebirth and transformation. Night People punctuates his catalog of work under the Early Day Miners moniker. Additionally, this release finds the band coming full circle, transitioning back to the Western Vinyl label, home of Early Day Miners' first record, Placer Found.

Just as the band's name has been abbreviated, their process of recording and producing has been been stripped down for this album. Unlike the meticulous self production that defined Early Day Miners' albums, their first effort under the EDM moniker finds the band relinquishing engineering duties. Recorded and mixed by engineer Mike Bridavksy at Russian Recording in just five days, the Night People sessions have yielded the most expressive vocal and instrumental performances of Burton's career.

The debut full length by Austin duo Zorch is the end result of nearly 5-years worth of material similarly collected, then shredded, condensed and completely remolded into a solid whole.

It sounds like two hyperactively creative minds finding ways to cleverly merge together effervescent synth blips, blue-eyed soul vocals, gang-chant backups, blurting EDM bass lines, frenetic drums, hazy psych-drone and even the proverbial kitchen sink taking leads here and there. Each song sounds like it could've been crafted out of samples from several different decades of pop culture history, though it's entirely the work of two exceptional musicians.

    All Harm Ends Here

The Early Day Miners Good Time Band is back with another platter of Midwest post-goth. Having already introduced their new rhythm section (Matt Griffin on drums and Jonathan Richardson on bass) to the world over the course of their last two tours, with All Harm Ends Here Early Day Miners have combined the lushness of their second album Let Us Garlands Bring with the conciseness of their last full-length Jefferson At Rest. Moreso than on any of their previous efforts, EDM take both musical and tonal cues from the principal architects of the 80's sad-as-hell dark underground - Echo & the Bunnymen, the Church, early-the Cure, and most notably the Bauhaus/Tones On Tail/Love And Rockets axis. While contemporaries like Bedhead and Interpol have mined primarily the darkest aspects of these long shadows, there lies in Early Day Miners' method an innate sense of hope that transcends even their darkest themes (decay, suicide, desertion). Perhaps this is most evident in the guitar interplay of long-time collaborators Dan Burton (Ativin) and Joseph Brumley. Arpeggios abound, the works of Roger McGuinn and The Edge come to mind in that there is a sense of hopefulness and sublimation which drives the songs to a better place. While the album is filled with death and ghosts of all sorts, its unifying theme is the individual's ability to escape the death and ghosts. Even the making of the album (which was done just outside of the band's hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, on the outskirts of Hoosier National Forest) was plagued by ghosts and phantoms. Recorded at the Old Mt. Gilead Church - recently revamped into a recording studio and still immediately surrounded on three sides by a dozen acres of 150-year old cemetery - principal tracking for All Harm Ends Here was halted for days at a time on multiple occasions when inexplicable flutter infected the reels of tape, almost requiring EDM to relocate its principal tracking altogether. Mixing and overdubbing was done at Burton's own Grotto Home Studio in an effort to evade those ghosts in the machine which possessed Old Mt. Gilead. While the Early Day Miners don't make flashy music, their layered music rewards the repeat listener. If you listen closely enough, in fact, you can hear ghosts in the distance.

    Dubnobasswithmyheadman

Underworld's debut arrived as a fully formed statement of intent. Its' nine tracks showcased the limitless possibilities of electronic music. Although born
out of club culture, Dubnobass defied the accepted genres of the time - equally suited to the dancefloor and the after party, it was as immersive an
experience quaking through bassbins or headphones. Two decades on from its original release, it's unarguable that Dubnobasswithmyheadman is one of
the most influential British electronic records of all time; a signpost for everything from dance music's easy relationship with main stages at festivals to the
    radio/globe-conquering EDM phenomenon.

To celebrate Dubnobasswithmyheadman's twentieth anniversary, the record has been meticulously remastered at Abbey Road for a deluxe reissue by the
band's Rick Smith. Revisiting the original MIDI files, Rick uncovered a wealth of previously unreleased material and rare alternate
mixes that sit alongside the record's original companion singles and remixes and offer a fascinating insight into the creation of the record. The resultant
release is the definitive version of one of those rare records that truly deserves to be described as a classic.

    Lantern

This summer Hudson Mohawke will release Lantern, his first solo full length in nearly six years. The producer has been on a meteoric rise, working with some of the biggest names in hip hop, pop and dance music. From age 15 he was an award winning scratch DJ producing happy hardcore on cracked software - he came to define a generation of electronic fusion producers but unlike many of his peers, Hudson has matured into a fully fledged contemporary hitmaker continually working to break the mold. Born of the underground club scene in the UK, 'Hud Mo' has been cultivating a formidable presence in the community, right from the earliest days producing on Fruityloops from his bedroom. His US break-out came in 2012 with TNGHT, the collaborative project with fellow producer Lunice, which saw their production influence the A-list in rap (being jumped on by the likes of Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne) and help reintroduce the US dance / EDM scene to Hip Hop as club music. In the two years following, Hudson has worked on releases from Drake, Kanye West, John Legend, Young Thug, Pusha-T, and Antony Hegarty. Despite becoming one of pops go-to producers, to his avid fans he's never been tied to one genre - and with Lantern we hear the realization of everything he has been working on since that Glasgow bedroom.

    Cryptocracy (Awaiting Repress)

From the metal-hewn flatlands of Finland comes a dark new force in electronic music. Forged in the electrical fire of industrial; nurtured through the apocalyptic feedback of art-rock, experimental and all things disruptive; and championed by the most influential names in EDM and beyond, Huoratron is deeper, stranger and harder-core than whatever came before it.

Huoratron came to life in 2003, the brainchild of DJ/producer/mad 8-bit scientist Aku Raski. His sinister vision has taken form in just a few releases: some material for Finnish label New Judas, including the proactively aggressive Prevenge EP, containing angry blip-fest $$ Troopers and Corporate Occult, a slice of electro-house gone horribly awry. A set of remixes that changed H.I.M.'s In Venere Veritas from a jangly bit of radio rock to a doomed ride aboard a haunted 747 and M.I.A.'s Internet Connection from her usual minimal-funky hoedown to a sizzling nuclear rain storm.

After resigning to Last Gang in 2010, Raski hit the studio, emerging a year later with Cryptocracy, his first full-length album. To be blatantly honest I do not personally feel a close resemblance to many, if any artist within my scene, Raski explains. This is mostly because I'm driven by my own vigorous motivation and do what I do despite associations made by others. I mean no disrespect by this. It is simply a fact that I, as an artist am in the center of the storm and feel content there.

Cryptocracy is a journey of destruction, driven by chip synths, distortion and gut-punching bass. Recognizable sounds peak their heads out occasionally: a house riff on Transcendence, a dubstep pass on Sea of Meat, stripped-down techno on A699F. But they're swallowed up by an apocalyptic wave; the noises, textures and sonic sneak attacks that are Huoratron's signature, born more from a feeling than a particular genre focus.

    Out Of The Black

The raucous, schizophrenic sound of Out Of The Black - much like previous Boys Noize records - has as much to do more with Ridha's attention span as his choice in gear. "I get bored really easily with sounds," he explains, "The exciting part for me is trying to come up with new sounds, putting new sounds in a new dress. I'm sound obsessed. I buy a lot of machines and synths, and I'm always looking for a way to destroy sounds in an unconventional way. I'm always drawn to music and productions that sound entirely different or really naïve or sometimes just stupid. I don´t like it when it sounds too clean and generic, there needs to be some sort of soul. I guess that explains a lot about my sound which I think I instinctually capture. But I do try to keep in mind what I loved about dance music when I started doing this and how it made me feel. Those thoughts were also very much on my mind when I was making this record."

The new album nicely bridges the gap between his previous two efforts; providing the requisite in-your-face electro bang of classic Boys Noize on tracks like "What You Want", "Rocky 2" and "XTC", or more melodic songs like "Ich R U" and "Reality". At a time when mainstream electronic music-particularly the pervasive cultures of EDM and dubstep-have moved dance music out of the clubs and into the stadiums, Ridha is quick to acknowledge the old school house and acid records that shaped him as a DJ; the very same records that continue to bubble up as an influence on Out of the Black.

"I never compromise when it comes to creative or musical things," says Ridha. "I only do what I think is cool and what I like. It's not about what the market wants or what people expect. Maintaining artistic freedom has always been the most important thing to me - for my own music or for anyone on my label." As for the title of his new record, Ridha explains that this music isn't coming from out of the blue. In fact, it's the opposite. "I tend to make and produce music only at night," he says. "I also generally only perform at night, so this is music that's coming totally out of the black. Also, they say the color black can absorb all other colors, which is a cool way to think about making music. You absorb every other kind of music-every possible sound-and what comes out of you is something new, something out of the black."

Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis

A one-night-only concert was held at New York City's Town Hall last fall, to celebrate the music of the Coen brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis. The evening was filmed for a documentary that was broadcast by Showtime last winter, and now Nonesuch Records releases a live recording of the concert, Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of "Inside Llewyn Davis,"on January 13, 2015. The concert, documentary, and live album were produced by Inside Llewyn Davis writer/director/producers Joel and Ethan Coen and soundtrack producer T Bone Burnett. (Nonesuch also released the film's soundtrack.)

As Burnett explains, "Inside Llewyn Davis was filled with live performances of some of the folk songs that had survived the McCarthy hearings. Some of the songs were a hundred years old; some had just been written but sounded a hundred years old. In order to get attention for a film that was not exactly on the beat we decided to throw a concert featuring the actors and musicians who had performed in the movie and on the soundtrack. We also invited members of the extraordinary community of musicians who have coalesced around this old music-and have kept it alive in the wake of the most recent technological revolution-to join us that night. We asked them to perform an old song and one of their new songs.

He continues, "Several new stars emerged from their performances that evening-The Secret Sisters, Lake Street Dive, The Milk Carton Kids, Rhiannon Giddens, and Punch Brothers all proved themselves as good as the best as they took the stage next to Hall of Famers Joan Baez and Elvis Costello, and established younger artists like The Avett Brothers, Colin Meloy, Marcus Mumford, Conor Oberst, Willie Watson, Gillian Welch, and Jack White." In fact, T Bone Burnett has since produced albums by both Punch Brothers and Rhiannon Giddens, which will be released shortly after Another Day, Another Time.

Huffington Post called Another Day, Another Time "one of those only-in-New-York events," while Rolling Stone said it was "a bustling salute to the sounds and the idea of Sixties folk music," and continued, "For all the formality of the night, which was exceedingly well-paced and organized, the concert recalled a time when one or two people, bearing one or two unplugged instruments, could be as enthralling as the greatest rock or EDM track."

Over the past years, Calvin Harris has had number 1 hit after number 1 hit with his EDM-style songs (most recently with Summer) and collaborations with the likes of Rihanna, Kelis, Dizzy Rascal, Florence Welch, Example, Ellie Goulding.

His debut album I Created Disco (2007) is much more funky and not so much EDM, but contained a handful of chartbusters as well. Acceptable In The 80s, Colours, Vegas, The Girls and Merrymaking At My Place were very successful in the European charts. Harris combined all the right ingredients on I Created Disco; 80's Wave, Soul, Disco, House, Electro and Pop.

    Motion

Just as Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, Calvin Harris is the Emperor of EDM, with Motion, his fourth album, serving to express the glory of the empire, not revolutionize it. While Ellie Goulding, Gwen Stefani, and John Newman enliven their respective Vegas club staples, and Summer contains one of the year's most grandiose synth crescendos, it's the curveballs that steal the show here. The opalescent Pray to God sounds more like a Haim song spiced up by Calvin Harris than vice versa, and Dollar Signs, featuring vocals by R&B young turk TinashÉ, is a clever funk-EDM hybrid. Open Wide, featuring Big Sean, sucks the air out of the room with clobbering bass.

"Here's my invitation, baby / Come feel my energy," Britney Spears sings in the opening track of her ninth album. On this gorgeously produced array of hypnotic after-hours jams and gleaming EDM, Britney's energy feels pretty damn confident. Her vocals have never sounded stronger, from the elastic yelps of "Private Show" to the scorching "What You Need." "Clumsy" rockets from handclaps into the stratosphere just as Brit exclaims, as only she can: "Oops!"

    Forever

A mastermind electronic artist, producer and singer - Mystery Skulls is an adopted stage name for Luis Dubuc, a self-taught musician from Dallas who through trial and error, perseverance, hard work, self-belief, great timing and the courage to move to Los Angeles has made a name for himself.

The debut full-length album from Los Angeles' Mystery Skulls, 2014's Forever, showcases the group's infectious, '80s-influenced disco, R&B, and dance-oriented soul. Primarily centered around the talents of lead singer, songwriter, and musical mastermind Luis Dubuc, Mystery Skulls make pulsing, laser-toned R&B that touches upon vintage '70s and '80s club music as much as it does contemporary R&B, techno, and EDM.

Limited Edition Debut EP Of 1000

500 Clear, 500 White Vinyl (Colors Shipped At Random)

Heavy Card Sleeve With Gloss Finish

Doss bursts forth into our reality by stepping sideways from one where the
90s boom never ended - an alternate Earth of curved, shining surfaces and
    strobing colours.

As a producer and singer exploring Electronica as a concept, Doss sidesteps
the revivalist tag by reaching across genres, from trip hop and trance to liquid
drum & bass and Eurodance, and warping them into something
    simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic.

Perhaps what makes her music so vital is that she manages to avoid using her
influences as obvious templates. Instead, she uses particular genre tropes as
tools in a contemporary, almost EDM, context; a place where the synth
melodies of Crystal Waters and Love, Inc. coexist with the slinking shuffle of
    LTJ Bukem and Fabio.

Doss makes bold, emotional pop music that bursts with imagination. But
beyond the sheen there is a complex fragility reminding us that glossy
fantasies are just as interesting for their subtext..

    Stranger To Stranger

Paul Simon will release Stranger to Stranger, his 13th solo album in 2016 via Concord Records. Full of thrilling, imaginative textures, Stranger to Stranger conjures a vivid and vital new context to Simon's well-established virtuosity as a singer and songwriter. The record-his first since 2011's acclaimed So Beautiful or So What-ushers the listener into a brave new musical world where expectations are defied and exceeded, as they were thirty years ago with another masterwork, Graceland.

Produced by Simon and his longtime musical partner Roy Halee, Stranger to Stranger's adventurous sonic spirit is abundantly clear right from the darkly humorous first two songs, "The Werewolf" and "Wristband."

"It's about getting you to actually hear something in a new way. It's about making music that sounds old and new at the same time; music with a sense of mystery," Simon explains of his and Halee's experimentation on the album.

The first song written for the album, "Insomniac's Lullaby," led Simon to the musical possibilities first suggested by Harry Partch-the 20th century American composer and theorist who created custom-made instruments in microtonal tunings. To capture the sounds of Partch's unusual instruments such as Cloud-Chamber Bowls and the Chromelodeon, Simon took his equipment to the laboratory at Montclair State University in New Jersey, where the original Harry Partch instrument collection was being curated.

An experimental session with the percussionist in Simon's band and a group of Flamenco musicians provided the initial rhythmic premise for Stranger to Stranger and supplied the grooves that were the basis for four songs on the album-"The Riverbank," "The Werewolf," "Wristband" and "Stranger to Stranger."

Stranger to Stranger's collage of sound also includes the Italian electronic dance music artist Clap! Clap!, whose album Tayi Bebba, blending African field recordings and EDM, Simon admired. Clap! Clap!'s sound can be heard on three tracks: "The Werewolf," "Wristband" and "Street Angel."

"Sound is the theme of this album as much as it's about the subjects of the individual songs. If people get that, I'll be pleased," explains Simon. "The right song at the right time can live for generations. A beautiful sound, well that's forever."

In many ways, Graceland was the most extraordinary experience in my entire career, notes Simon. The insight into rhythm was the great gift that I received from making the trip to South Africa, and collaborating with African musicians.
