    The Grind Date (Awaiting Repress)

10th Anniversay Reissue Of The Grind Date

2 LP Colored Vinyl (One LP Orange / Other LP Is Blue)

De La Soul were interrupted just before they could deliver the third volume in their AOI series -- projected to be a DJ album -- to Tommy Boy. (The label
perhaps bailed out from a 15-year relationship precisely because the group was going to release such a commercially bankrupt title, one that was planned
instead to appear on an independent label run by Maseo.) De La Soul quickly realized they couldn't go ahead with the plan after signing their AOI label to
Sanctuary, so they wrote a new record, The Grind Date. Although it may see them settling into a holding pattern, at least the pattern of 2001's AOI: Bionix
is one that any hip-hop fan won't mind hearing repeated. Better yet, it boasts productions from an excellent cast of figures -- partner in crime Supa Dave
West, author of the best tracks on their AOI series, J-Dilla, who's stretching out his patented (read: overdone) sound to embrace classic hip-hop, an only
slightly commercialized Madlib, and young phenom 9th Wonder. Madlib gets what must be the first lead single of his career, a bright, antimaterialist tale
called Shopping Bags (She Got From You) that thumps like a club tune, but lurches as only the Beat Conductor could do it. Verbal Clap finds J-Dilla
allowing some grit into his productions, and Supa Dave only continues floating the most fluidly catchy productions of any rap producer in action.
Meanwhile, De La Soul voices Posdnuos and Dave balance their time breezing easy on bumping message tracks with a few old-school shots that show
them a bit defensive about the passing of time. (Check out Come On Down, a Madlib-produced shot with Flava Flav, or Days of Our Lives featuring
Common.) Without a concept to tout, The Grind Date doesn't gel like AOI: Bionix, but it does show De La Soul keeping everything together more than 15
years after their debut. After all, you certainly wouldn't see MF Doom guesting on a Tone-Loc record. - Review By John Bush

People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (25th Anniversary Edition)

A Tribe Called Quest and Sony Legacy present the 25th anniversary edition collection of the group's classic debut album, People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm. In celebration of the 25th anniversary, the album has been remastered from the original tapes by Grammy-Award winning engineer Bob Power, and re-released with exclusive new remixes. This album marks the debut release in a series of re-releases by A Tribe Called Quest over the course of the next few years.

People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm made its debut in 1990 and came at a crucial time for hip-hop. The Queens-raised childhood friends -- Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White -- took the traditional hip-hop formula and threw it out the window. Like their contemporaries in De La Soul and the Jungle Brothers, all of whom would become known as the Native Tongues collective, their lyrical and musical influences were unlike any hip-hop group on the scene. While many built breaks around vintage soul and funk samples, ATCQ utilized samples of jazz and '70s rock. Their verses were conversational instead of confrontational, addressing socially conscious topics with laid-back candor and slightly off-kilter humor.

Critics and hip-hop audiences understood the sea of change ATCQ represented. The Source gave the album a perfect score of five mics (a first for the publication), while The Village Voice praised it as upliftingly dope.

I Wish My Brother George Were Here

In the early 90s hip hop took a turn and gangsta-style rap dominated, making waves off
the West Coast that rattled throughout the world. The East Coast's dominance was
descending despite the success and positivity of Native Tongues acts like De La Soul
and A Tribe Called Quest, who favored thought-provoking humor and cleverness over
gangsta rap's grittiness and grim outlook. It was in this landscape that Oakland, CA's
Del The Funky Homosapien emerged in 1991, with his debut release
I Wish My Brother George Was Here.

Cribbing equally from the East Coast's irreverence and wit, and the West Coast's
P-Funk inspired production, (the album was produced by Del's cousin Ice Cube) Del's
debut has rightly been heralded as a benchmark album for underground hip hop. I Wish My Brother George Was Here not only produced the underground classics Dr. Bombay and Mistadobalina (#9 on the 1992 Hot Rap Tracks Charts), but also set the scene for the success of the other less gangsta West Coast
artists like The Pharcyde, Digable Planets, and of course Del's compatriots in Souls of Mischief.

Above all else, Del is credited with injecting some much needed light-heartedness at a moment when it was truly needed.
Since his debut Del has gone on to work alongside Gorillaz, Wu-Tang Clan, El-P, Handsome Boy Modeling School, and
as a member of the acclaimed hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030, and even with Dinosaur Jr.

Traffic Entertainment now presents I Wish My Brother George Was Here as a special double LP reissue, featuring the
original artwork, and all of The Funky Homosapien's witty and innovative rhymes intact.

Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde Instrumentals

Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde is, simply put, one of the most perfect albums in the history of recorded music regardless of genre. From the lyrical flow of Slimkid3, Bootie Brown, Imani and Fatlip to the cover art by Fuct the project is the embodiment of excellence start to finish. Musically, the foundation of this perfection is the production work of J-Swift. His use of jazz samples, phat beats and live instrumentation had the ultimate effect of "creating their own sonic utopia", as NME put it.

As such it's more than fitting that Pharcyde's Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde be released as an all instrumental outing. Swift's adventurous use of samples from jazz, R&B, funk, classic rock and more melded with his personal additions of live instrumentation including piano, bass, and Fender Rhodes along with drum arrangements from fellow producer JMD create a lush, jazzy soundscape that works well as a stand alone recording.

Though the west coast's predominant G-Funk sound of the time or the east coast's conscious kings De La Soul may have sold more records at the time, The Pharcyde and J-Swift's work on Bizarre Ride has stood the text of time and continues to resonate with fans new and old in a way that few records have or ever will.

    Funkadelic

The 1970 self titled debut from Detroit's nastiest, most shredding funk-rock group. Arising from the ashes of George Clinton's Plainfield, New Jersey-led R&B group, The Parliments, Funkadelic formed in the late '60s and, in addition to Clinton, included the blazing guitar of Eddie Hazel, organist Mickey Atkins, rhythm guitarist Tawl Ross and drummer Tiki Fulwood. Though firmly rooted in funk and soul, Funkadelic incorporated a dark psychedelic element, influenced by Hendrix and Sly Stone, to create a sound that was unparalleled at the time and since. Sampled by everyone from DJ Shadow to Ice Cube, De La Soul and the Beastie Boys, Funkadelic still sounds fresh today and is the first solid example of George Clinton's eccentric genius.

    City Life

City Life, arguably The Blackbyrds' best album, hit #1 on the Billboard Jazz Chart and #3 on the Billboard Soul Chart upon its original release in 1975.
Produced by legendary jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd, the album showcases The Blackbyrd's' unique jazz-funk crossover sound and includes the runaway
hits Happy Music and Rock Creek Park, which stand even today as pinnacles of the '70s jazz-funk movement. A testament to its lasting appeal, Rock
Creek Park from the City Life album has been sampled numerous times by groups such as De La Soul, Eric B. & Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, N.W.A,
Massive Attack, Ice Cube, Heavy D, Nas and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Tone Loc and most recently, Wiz Khalifa. This often-sublime album
is primed for rediscovery by fans of '70s funk, soul, jazz and fusion.

    Judgement Night

The 1993 film Judgment Night was basically suburbia's paranoid view of inner-city life, where the slightest misstep (such as trying to take a shortcut to a boxing match) has fateful, if not fatal, consequences. And what better music to accompany this middle-class nightmare than a hybrid of the music suburbanites seemed most afraid of; Rap and Rock. It turned out to be quite a fruitful collaboration; while the film bombed, the soundtrack went gold.

Judgment Night spawned four singles: Biohazard & Onyx's 'Judgment Night', Helmet & House Of Pain's 'Just Another Victim', Teenage Fanclub & De La Soul's 'Fallin'' and Faith No More & Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.'s 'Another Body Murdered', and it also features highly sought after collaboration between Pearl Jam & Cypress Hill. Ice-T and Slayer manage to thrash it out on an unsurpassed level, while Sonic Youth & Cypress Hill have that slightly paranoid sound you get from loving Mary Jane a little too much.

Delicious Vinyl will proudly release Sunset Blvd., the new album from Yancey Boys, the group piloted by John "Illa J" Yancey and Frank Nitt. The dynamic new collection is built around previously unheard tracks created by Illa J's brother: the late, great J Dilla (James Yancey). With Frank Nitt's standing as J Dilla Music Catalog Curator and the official approval of Yancey Media Group, all productions on Sunset Blvd. originate from The Lost Scrolls - the stunning cache of beats Dilla left behind.

With its rapturous single "Quicksand" featuring Common, Sunset Blvd. also teams Yancey Boys with De La Soul's Posdnuos ("Beautiful"), The Pharcyde's SlimKid3 ("Rock My World"), and T3 of Slum Village ("Jeep Volume"), making it clear that the Dilla legacy is being represented by those who knew and collaborated with Dilla in his lifetime. Additional guests on Sunset Blvd. include DJs Rhettmatic, C-Minus, and JRocc (Beat Junkies) as well as rap roughneck Guilty Simpson and R&B strongman Eric Roberson. "We've created an album that would make Dilla proud," says Frank Nitt, who grew up with Dilla in Detroit. "But this isn't a nostalgia trip: Dilla's beats were so future-forward that they're right on time in 2013, and we've assembled the best artists possible to represent that."

Here To Fall Remixes (Discontinued) (On Sale)

Remixes by De La Soul, RJD2 and Pete Rock!

Yo La Tengo have worked with a huge variety of artists from different genres over the years. In 1997 they released the Autumn Sweaters Remix EP, featuring remixes from Tortoise, Kevin Shields and μ-Ziq. In 1999, they released the Danelectro Remixes, with remixes by Kit Clayton and Nobekazu Takemura. During the early 2000s, the band performed with members of legendary free jazz combo Other Dimensions In Music as well as members of the Sun Ra Arkestra. In 2010, the band presents an EP of remixes of Here To Fall, the lead track from last year's Popular Songs, by De La Soul, RJD2 and Pete Rock.

Here To Fall is the most popular track from Popular Songs, a couple having a tense conversation about the future over the background of menacing, descending chords and distorted wa-wa guitar. Each of these legendary hip hop performers has taken the track and the story and made it their own. Maseo from De La Soul strips the song to its core only to add driving guitars and a heavy groove. RJD2's take is as cool and atmospheric as you'd expect. It is the EP's closer that truly takes the song to the next level, Pete Rock's remix is dusky, minimal, abstract and hypnotic, carving the song down to the discrete elements of the human relationship, then dropping a verse about Yo La Tengo themselves.

    Rubber Souls

Tanya Morgan has resuscitated the breathy voice of true
hip-hop with their harmonious production, thoughtprovoking
    wordplay, and energizing live performances

    - Huffington Post

Tanya Morgan is a rap group. More than that, they're a great rap group as evidenced by the acclaim they've received from the
likes of Billboard, Vibe, SPIN, XXL Magazine, XLR8R, Los Angeles Times, The Onion, NY Magazine and a bevy of other press
outlets who have praised the group throughout the duration of their career. "Tanya Morgan are like the sons of De La Soul -
soulful, stressed, effortlessly smart flows, intricate production, the whole package," says SPIN Music Editor Charles Aaron.

Hailing from both Brooklyn and Cincinnati, Tanya Morgan formed on the message boards of Okayplayer.com in 2003 when
Donwill, Ilyas Nashid and Von Pea were all solo artists trading demos and beat tapes. The three MCs decided to collaborate for
a one-off project and settled on the name Tanya Morgan - an inside joke to trick hip-hop crate-diggers and sample-searchers
into thinking the record was an old-school soul singer. After their debut album, Moonlighting, was endorsed by the likes of
?uestlove in 2006 and was received enthusiastically by fans, Tanya Morgan decided to keep working together and keep the
name. In the wake of Moonlighting's critical success, the group released its follow-up, 2009's Brooklynati which saw the group
reach more fans and beguile more journalists as it was widely regarded as one of the year's best hip hop releases.

Since Brooklynati, the group has reformed with Ilyas moving on to focus on his solo material and video production while Von
Pea and Donwill continue to tour as Tanya Morgan, supporting the group's classic material as well as the members' first solo
releases: Donwill's Don Cusack In High Fidelity and Von Pea's Pea's Gotta Have It, both released in 2010.

2013 will mark the release of their third album, Rubber Souls, produced by 6th Sense (B.o.B., Outasight, Talib Kweli,
Mickey Factz, Homeboy Sandman, The Lonely Island, etc.). Having recorded the whole project together (as opposed to
individually as they have in the past), handing the production reins to an outsider, and adding a stable of musicians with whom
to collaborate, Tanya Morgan shook up the entire recording process with Rubber Souls. This album shows us stepping out of
our comfort zone to great results, explains Von Pea. [I]t brought out a new type of chemistry in our music. Instrumentally
ambitious, Rubber Souls is about expansion. Challenging both artists and musicians, producer 6th Sense gives his
interpretation of the Tanya Morgan sound - [t]he result in an album that will satisfy long time fans and
    shock non-believers, adds Donwill.

Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde (Pre-Order)

Critically acclaimed as an absolute classic of the alternative Hip-Hop genre, it's been name-checked by Kanye West
as his favorite album of all time and aptly described by NME as ... a cartoon-strip of blunt-smoking antics, sexual
innuendo and unashamed political incorrectness, crammed with infectious funky beats." A true West Coast original
that sprang up amidst the early 1990s gangster rap landscape like LA's answer to De La Soul's D.A.I.S.Y.-Age

Theres one rule in hip hop music that has transcended all of the phases in its four decade history: it doesnt matter what you do, but how you do it that really counts. This fact is no secret to Kev Brown (producer for Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, etc) who eschews the obscure in favor of certified soul classics as sample fodder for this project with emcee Kaimbr, The Alexander Green Project. Taking the familiar and reappropriating it into your own formula is no straightforward task but the soul-infused production on display with this project proves that in the right hands even the most recognizable of sources can be built into a fresh and engaging aesthetic. Kev Brown has those hands. Snippets of vocals punctuate sumptuous beats that are laced with chopped up strings, horn stabs, and intricate guitar licks to form a collection unified by source but ranging from the breezy to the bangin in terms of vibe. Kaimbr adds the final piece to this musical puzzle by combining a relaxed yet confident delivery with intricate rhyme schemes that nestle themselves assuredly into the beat.

    Why Make Sense?

Hot Chip's new album, Why Make Sense?, restates the band's intentions and redefines the very
things that made them relevant in the first place. Its ten tracks shun modernist dancefloor tropes in
order to flick through the dusty corners of the band's teenage record collections, back when they
were experimenting with music on primitive computer programmes. This, their sixth album, comes on
the back of the highly successful In Our Heads and a touring period that saw them headline venues
such as the iconic Hollywood Bowl and close out major festivals the world over.

Why Make Sense? represents the first time the Hot Chip live band has recorded together residentially.
The result is a revelation. Alternately jarring and chaotic, pared back, thundering, then pulsating and
gloriously mellifluous, the album confidently displays its influences: clattering analogue post-punk
('Why Make Sense?'), Philly disco ('Dark Night'), and outer-space acid dub ('Easy To Get'). The crisp,
snapping '90s RnB of "Love Is The Future" calls in guest spots from De La Soul's Posdnuos and
Scritti Politti's Green Gartside on vocals and arrangements respectively. The record even eschews
Alexis' vocals in favour of a carefully chosen sample that adds huge clout to the emotionally charged
core of the album, 'Need You Now.'

    The Platform

On the West Coast, gangsta rap held sway in hip-hop as the 21st century began. The alternative and conscious rap music of the early-to-mid-90s had all but faded into the underground. The scene was set for a comeback, perhaps as a backlash to the perceived violence and misogyny of gangsta rap's content. Leading the resurgence of alternative hip-hop were groups like Jurassic 5, and recent signees to Capitol Records; a West coast trio that had been building steam underground since the early 90s called Dilated Peoples.

Anticipation was high for the release of the debut album from Evidence, Rakaa, and DJ Babu. (Of the influential turntablist collective Beat Junkies.) When The Platform arrived in May of 2000 it was met with critical and underground acclaim, as well as affording Dilated Peoples their first Billboard chartings. It featured a back-to-basics sound with a heavy debt to the old-school hip-hop ethos, the kind of sound that harkened back to the early days of legends like De La Soul & A Tribe Called Quest. Hits like No Retreat and The Platform were bolstered by Evidence & Rakaa's subtle, abstract wit, and swift, adroit wordplay, while DJ Babu provided production chops and dextrous scratches. On The Platform, the trio was joined by the likes of B-Real, Tha Alkoholiks, Everlast, Planet Asia, and many more providing guest vocals, while boasting guest production from The Alchemist & Kut Masta Kurt, among others.

Since its 2000 release this influential record, which heralded the return of alternative hip-hop, has never seen a vinyl reissue. With that, Get On Down-always on top of giving the greatest hip-hop albums their due is proud to present this re-release of The Platform. The rhymes are still fresh, the production is still pristine, and the album is now back on vinyl for the first time in 17 years.

    Slum Village, Vol. 0

The mark that the late producer J Dilla left upon hip-hop during the 90s and early-to-mid 00s is undeniable, and his work with De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, The Pharcyde, and many more has long been cemented in the annals of hip-hop history. It was during his time as a member of seminal Detroit group Slum Village however that ranks as among his greatest. His work with rappers Baatin and T3 would be a strong influence upon modern rappers like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar and earn widespread critical praise, and comparisons to other legendary groups like A Tribe Called Quest. In speaking retrospectively on their most famous album Fan-Tas-Tic Vol. 1, The Roots' drummer Questlove has said of the release that it single-handedly birthed neo-soul.

J Dilla has been gone for over 10 years now, and Slum Village has moved on from their time with the legendary beatsmith, recruiting new members along the way. Despite this, new Dilla compositions are still being discovered, and his legacy continues to be shared and celebrated with a modern hip-hop audience. Ne'Astra Music Group now presents a new compilation of rare Dilla material: Vol. 0. Ten tracks featuring the classic Slum Village lineup of Dilla on vocals and production, with Baatin & T3 also on the mic, collected by modern SV member Young RJ from unreleased material and demos recorded between 1994 and 1997. The knowledgeable hip-hop head may recognize key tracks from the circulated EPHCY Sessions, while others have never seen the light of day. A piece of hip-hop history that would have otherwise wallowed in obscurity, until now.

Duets With Frank Sinatra, Johnny Hallyday And His English Versions

Music On Vinyl proudly presents a second release of the COLLECTED albums. The new albums will focus on memorable artists with almost a life span of original intriguing music, covering a timeless musical period!

In the early 1950s a man of short stature attempts to win over his audience. With a hoarse voice he delivers songs that do not catch on. People jeer at him. Tomatoes fly through the air. The Frenchman with Armenian roots slinks off the stage, but does not quit.

Ironically, the song that makes him a household name is the song in which he recalls his agonising trial. The audience reacted indifferently when Charles Aznavour decided to try out his new song on stage. But when he went on to greet the audience for one final time they all stood and gave him a thundering standing ovation.

In the sixties, hits and classics succeed one another. Nobody is bothered any more by his husky voice, by his small stature or his rugged characterful face. The croony For Me Formidable (1963), the heart breaking Et Pourtant (1963) and the nostalgic Hier Encore (1964) confirm his standing as a fan favourite. La Bohème (1965) and Emmenez-moi (1967) turn Aznavour into a superstar.

In La Bohème, there are impressionist painters strolling in the shadows of the SacrÉ-Coeur, the compelling Comme Ils Dissent (1972) is the first chanson after Vichy France to overtly endorse homo sexuality and in the present France Of La Manif Pour Tous (the movement that opposes gay marriage), does it again to sound particularly topical. Camarade (1977) was about the nomenklatura, the ruling elite in the Soviet Union and is a social and historical topic. Avec Un Brin De Nostalgie is an Aznavour grand cru, maybe even the best he has made over the last thirty years.

COLLECTED by Charles Aznavour is a wonderful collection of hits and classic by the French artist that touches your soul at every moment. It's an overview of his work during the sixties, seventies and duets with Johnny Hallyday on Il Faut Savoir and with Frank Sinatra Young At Heart. Also his English versions of How Sad Venice Can Be, The Old Fashioned Way, She and four more English songs are included on this deluxe Trifold 3LP album.

Back In Print For The First Time In Years

In many ways this collection, which compiles each of the band's out of print EPs from 1997-2001, is all the greatest hits you'll need by the Scottish combo. It's easy to take Belle and Sebastian for granted these days--they don't sound as good as they used to, and certainly it's difficult to imagine them ever becoming as culturally/musically relevant as they were once upon a precious, fey little time. But this collection brings the listener back to a time when it was crucially important to find their import EPs, when no one else in the world seemed to be making indie-pop that was so full of sincerity and irony at the same time, nor as gorgeously crammed with orchestral elements and naughty-smart lyrics. The State I Am In has never sounded better, while Lazy Line Painter Jane, which expanded their sound to include C&W-ish elements, is clearly one of the band's best tunes ever (and perhaps a more interesting direction than the vaguely soulful one they took later on). The almost-rolliciking, smartypants Le Pastie De La Bourgeoise is brutal and elegant. -Mike McGonigal
