    Remain In Light (Awaiting Repress)

Ranked 126/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Cut from the Original Analog Masters and Pressed at RTI for Stunning Sound!

Formed in the mid 70s by art school chums David Byrne, Chris Franz, and Tina Weymouth and ex-Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, Talking Heads rose out of the CBGB punk crucible and proved themselves one of the most artistically adventurous and influential bands of all time. Their visionary, polyrhythmic sound fused elements including rock, funk, and punk with diverse world beats, avant-garde minimalism, and pure pop genius.

From their 1977 debut through their Brian Eno and self-produced classics and on to their swan song (1988's Steve Lillywhite-produced Naked), Talking Heads constantly broke creative boundaries while also scoring smart radio hits including "Burning Down The House," "Wild Wild Life," and, from 1980's Remain In Light, the brilliant "Once In A Lifetime."

Considered by many fans and critics alike to be the band's best album, Remain In Light was the third release in the Heads/Eno trilogy and fourth overall. More melodic and funkier sounding than that of its predecessors, the recording finds the band further exploring the African rhythms hinted at on 1979's Fear of Music with the help of a growing personnel that now included Adrian Belew (guitar), Bernie Worrell (keyboards), Steven Scales (percussion) and backing vocalists. As propulsive and essential as ever here on 180 gram vinyl courtesy of Warner Bros. Records!

"On this New Wave watershed, the avant-punk avatars became polyrhythmic pop magicians. David Byrne and Co. combined the thrust of P-Funk, the kinky grooves of Afropop and the studied adventurousness of producer Brian Eno - and they still had a pop hit with 'Once in a Lifetime'." - Rolling Stone

Live From Austin, TX (David Byrne)

David Byrne is a modern renaissance man - and that's not just a clichÉ. From the heady days as co-founder of the celebrated art new wave group Talking Heads (1976-88) through his own constantly evolving and innovative solo music career, he has pursued his muse on many different artistic fronts. He's been the driving force behind a body of work that has been both intellectually daring and commercially successful...and he shows no signs of slowing down decades later. This show, captured on November 28, 2001, came on the heels of his hit single, "Like Humans Do" and the release of the album Look Into The Eyeball, which was another typically eclectic musical stew reflecting a variety of styles and influences, from Philly soul to a D.C. Go-Go inspired groove and his first-ever Spanish composition, "Desconocido Soy." Critics at the time called it his best work in years, and his performance on the Austin City Limits stage shows why. Joined by Austin's own eclectic tango ensemble Tosca, Byrne takes us down many different musical roads in his ACL debut. Of course, besides the brilliant songwriter and performer that he is, he's also an accomplished performance artist, photographer, web journalist, film writer/director, composer of motion picture soundtracks, and founder of his own world music label, Luaka Bop Records. He also has a collection of Grammys, Oscars and Golden Globes on his mantel. His music may be complex and poetic, but he makes no bones about his ultimate intent: "I want to move people to dance and cry at the same time.

My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts

Now approaching its 25th anniversary, Brian Eno and David Byrnes My Life in the Bush of Ghosts appears downright visionary. With its found vocals, cut-and paste arrangements, funked-up rhythms and embrace of influences from all around the globe, the duos controversial work anticipated the creative cross-pollination and technological innovation of contemporary electronic dance music, world music, hip hop and alternative rock. You can hear echoes of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in the anthems Moby built around vintage vocal samples, in the outrageously exotic beats of Missy Elliot and Timbaland, in the Middle Eastern-accented chill-out tracks of Thievery Corporation or Bjorks otherworldly soundscapes.

Back in the day, however, critics were divided and audiences were, well, confused. Eno and Byrne themselves didnt know quite what they were looking for at first. They shard an enthusiasm for African music, especially the hypnotic grooves of Nigerian Feka Kuti, and a desire to free themselves from the constraints of conventional songwriting. They embarked on a nomadic journey through studios in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The players who accompanied them on these sessions included drummers Chris Frantz (Talking Heads) and Prairie Prince (The Tubes), bassist Bill Laswell (Material) and Tim Wright (DNA), avant-garde percussionist Dave Van Teighem and conga player Steve Scales, part of the Remain In Light live band. The result of their labors was an album that married West African and American R&B rhythms with the impassioned voices of talk-show hosts and evangelists taped off the radio or the evocative sound of prayerful singers culled from Middle Eastern field recordings. Byrne recalls their entire adventure in fascinating liner notes that detail the recording process and address the resulting critical furor. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts was cut between Talking Heads Fear of Music (1979) and Remain In Light (1980), but sample clearance issues, an almost unheard-of-problem in the analog era, kept it on hold until 1981.

    Fear Of Music

Fear of Music is the third studio album by American New Wave band Talking Heads, released on 3 August 1979 on Sire Records. It was recorded at locations in New York City between April and May 1979 and was produced by the quartet and Brian Eno. The album reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and peaked at number 33 on the UK Albums Chart. Three songs were released as singles between 1979 and 1980: Life During Wartime, I Zimbra, and Cities. The record was certified Gold in the U.S. in 1985.

Fear of Music received favourable reviews from critics. Praise centred on its unconventional rhythms and frontman David Byrne's lyrical performances. The record is often considered one of the best Talking Heads releases. It has featured in several publications' lists of the best albums of all time. England's Channel 4 named the record at number 76 in its 2005 countdown of The 100 Greatest Albums.

Talking Heads: 77 is the auspicious debut album from what was the most highly touted new wave band to ever emerge from New York's CBGB's scene and it immediately set them apart from their counterparts in both sound and scope. Both unique and infectious, David Byrne's high, yelping tenor serves as the perfect complement to the band's tightly-wound yet kinetic rhythms here, making for a tuneful collection of songs highlighted by the twisted anthem Psycho Killer and the joyous Pulled Up.

    Love This Giant

Recorded over two years largely at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ, the album is a collaboration in the truest sense of the word, with Byrne and St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) co-writing ten of the album's twelve tracks, and each artist penning one song individually. The album centers around an explosive brass band and is propelled by John Congleton's drum programming!

There was no delineating what the roles were, explains Clark of the recording. It's a collaboration I'm truly proud of. The duo also split lyrical and vocal duties on the record, which despite eschewing a traditional guitar/bass/drums lineup in favor of idiosyncratic horn arrangements, presents itself as infectious and modern hook-laden rock.

Byrne and Clark met in 2009 at the 'Dark Was the Night' benefit at Radio City Music Hall and were approached shortly after by the Housing Works Bookstore to collaborate on a night of music. They began composing remotely, trading song ideas and structures online while Clark toured and it quickly became apparent that they had more than just one night of music in them!!

Byrne performed with Clark at her 'American Songbook' show at Lincoln Center in 2010, and Clark contributed vocals to Byrne's Here Lies Love album, released the same year.

Glean is the upcoming seventeenth studio album by They Might Be Giants. It includes songs direct from the first weeks of their Dial-A-Song service. The range of these recordings is truly staggering. From the manic violin-driven ''Music Jail, Pt. 1 & 2'' to the bluesy grinding of ''Underwater Woman,'' Glean comprises some of They Might Be Giants' most vital work of their 30+ year career. With the album, TMBG's sound is in equal turns as rocking, surprising, effervescent, and truly original as they have ever been. The highly anticipated album is produced with long-time collaborator Pat Dillett (St. Vincent, Mike Doughty, Donald Fagen, Mary J. Blige, David Byrne, etc), and comes hot on the heels of 2013 s wildly popular Nanobots.

More Songs About Buildings And Food

The title of Talking Heads' second album, More Songs About Buildings and Food, slyly addressed the sophomore record syndrome, in which songs not used on a first LP are mixed with hastily written new material. If the band's sound seems more conventional, the reason simply may be that one had encountered the odd song structures, staccato rhythms, strained vocals, and impressionistic lyrics once before. Another was that new co-producer Brian Eno brought a musical unity that tied the album together, especially in terms of the rhythm section, the sequencing, the pacing, and the mixing. Where Talking Heads had largely been about David Byrne's voice and words, Eno moved the emphasis to the bass-and-drums team of Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz; all the songs were danceable, and there were only short breaks between them.

Byrne held his own, however, and he continued to explore the eccentric, if not demented persona first heard on 77, whether he was adding to his observations on boys and girls or turning his Psycho Killer into an artist in Artists Only. Through the first nine tracks, More Songs was the successor to 77, which would not have earned it landmark status or made it the commercial breakthrough it became. It was the last two songs that pushed the album over those hurdles. First there was an inspired cover of Al Green's Take Me to the River; released as a single, it made the Top 40 and pushed the album to gold-record status. Second was the album closer, The Big Country, Byrne's country-tinged reflection on flying over middle America; it crystallized his artist-vs.-ordinary people perspective in unusually direct and dismissive terms, turning the old Chuck Berry patriotic travelogue theme of rock & roll on its head and employing a great hook in the process.

    Speaking In Tongues

Speaking in Tongues is the fifth studio album by the band Talking Heads, released in 1983.
The album was a commercial breakthrough that produced the band's first (and only) American Top 10 hit, Burning Down the House, which was accompanied by a promotional video. The following tour was documented in Jonathan Demme's Stop Making Sense, which generated a live album of the same name. (The concert film and live album's title comes from the repeated phrase Stop making sense! during the song Girlfriend Is Better.) In addition, the album crossed over to the dance charts, peaking at number two for six weeks. In 2012, Slant Magazine listed the album at #89 on its list of Best Albums of the 1980s.

David Byrne designed the cover for the general release of the album. Artist Robert Rauschenberg won a Grammy Award for his work on the limited-edition LP version. This album featured a clear vinyl disc in clear plastic packaging along with three clear plastic discs printed with similar collages in three different colors.

Brian Eno and Karl Hyde (of Underworld) come together with a new album to be released this May on Warp Records. This is the first vocal/band project from Eno since 2008's David Byrne collaboration. Someday World comprises nine songs, composed and sung by Eno & Hyde together with a highly distinguished cast of supporting musicians, including Eno's Roxy Music bandmate Andy Mackay, Tessa Angus, Nell Catchpole, Marianna Champion, Will Champion, Kasia Daszykowska, Don E., Darla Eno, Georgia Gibson, John Reynolds and Chris Vatalaro. Following his 2013 Grammy nominated album LUX, Brian Eno produced this new album with 20 year old Fred Gibson, and continues an ongoing collaboration between Hyde & Eno which sees the two together on a complete album for the first time. Gunnera

Pfarmers is the new project from Danny Seim (Menomena, Lackthereof), Bryan Devendorf
(The National), and Dave Nelson (David Byrne & St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens).

Danny and Bryan have been friends since The National and Menomena toured together
in the early 2000s. Their paths crossed several times since then, most recently backstage
at a festival, where Bryan showed Danny some severly damaged, synth-affected
drumbeats he had recorded with his friend Dave, sho was currently playing horns in David
Byrne's band. Shortly after, Pfarmers was born.

According to Seim, "The record is about a dream I had where I'm reluctantly accepting a
fear of drowning by focusing on being reincarnated as a giant Gunnera plant, which thrive
on the banks of rivers (specifically the Jordan River i.e. the Biblical promised land) after I
paint myself gold and sink to the bottom like the El Dorado of South American folklore."

Despite the notoriety of it's members, Pfarmers sounds unlike anything they've produced
before. The first track "Benthos" is a sprawling ambient piece comprised of looping,
layered horns. The album then launches into a set of pop songs, reminiscent of Lackthereof
(Danny's solo project), as played by Kraftwerk. Devendorf's trademark drum style is
present, but here they're filtered so heavily as to sound mechanical. Seim contributes
layered vocals, and thick bass brooves, while Nelson provides complex spatial arrangements.

It's a diverse record, switching swiftly between catchy pop songs and long instrumental
breaks. It's a rich and rewarding album, for those willing to dive in.

    Strange Weather

Anna Calvi is to release a 5 track covers EP entitled 'Strange Weather.' Produced by Thomas Bartlett
(The National, Antony and the Johnsons, Sam Amidon) and recorded in New York, the EP features
covers of tracks by FKA twigs, Connan Mockasin, Suicide, David Bowie as well as a stunning
collaboration with David Byrne on the title track, a cover of Keren Ann's 'Strange Weather'.

The cover of Suicide's Ghost Rider was recorded with drummer Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley), and Nico
Muhly contributes string arrangements to the EP opener, a deconstructed organic reworking of FKA
    twigs' 'Papi Pacify.'

David Byrne said the following on working with Anna:

'I'm a big fan of Anna's two records... and I caught her tour after her first record at Bowery Ballroom
here in NY. 'Epic' I think is the word that is often used. So when Thomas Bartlett said he was going to
be in the studio producing an EP of Anna doing covers I immediately agreed to join in. I was invited
to suggest songs and I loved the last Keren Ann record and I thought Strange Weather had a haunting
quality that might suit Anna.... so we did that, and Anna then suggested I join in on the Connan
    Mockasin track she'd done too.'

    Bottom Of The World

Bottom of the World is Terry Allen's first studio release in over 14 years. There may be no greater maverick than Terry Allen in all of alt-country music. Allen is a standard-bearer of the Lubbock, TX, country scene. Widely heralded as the most progressive movement in all of contemporary country, digging into modern-day concerns with a gutsy, liberal perspective, while maintaining a firm musical grounding in regional country and folk traditions.

Allen is perhaps the most ambitious all of the artists coming out of this scene( Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore), writing complex song cycles that have been performed with the help of fellow eclectics ranging from Lowell George to David Byrne.

    Vapours

Nick Diamonds' polymorphous pop band, Islands, is back with their third studio album, Vapours: a collection of fun, highly listenable tunes that effortlessly intertwine Motown grooves, electro-Krautrock anolog synths, and even some slinky horn charts. All this over Nick Diamonds' undeniable melodies, giving us the one of the best collections of modern pop songs since David Byrne rolled out the big suits. After making a splash with their 2006 debut, Return to the Sea, performed with a cast of characters from Montreal's thriving music scene (including members of Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade), ex-Unicorns Nick Diamonds and Jaime Thompson parted ways for 2007's Arm's Way. Longtime fans will be ecstatic to learn that Thompson has returned for Vapours, and the band has regained much of the ragged charm that made Return to the Sea a press and fan favorite.

    Salt On Sea Glass

Petra Haden and Yuka Honda first crossed paths in the '90s when they were members of That Dog and Cibo Matto respectively. Since then they've each had one foot in pop music and one foot in the avant garde.

Petra Haden has released groundbreaking vocal projects Imaginaryland and Petra Haden Sings The Who Sell Out, performed and recorded with Beck, Foo Fighters and The Decemberists.

Yuka Honda has released 3 experimental electronic albums on John Zorn's Tzadik label, while also producing Japanese pop artists, including Miu Sakamoto and Maki Nomiya.

If By Yes' debut album Salt on Sea Glass is guaranteed to seduce you with utterly exquisite and playful sensibilities, futuristic rhythms, other-wordly sounds. Special guests include David Byrne (vocals/lyrics) on Eliza, guitarist Nels Cline and remixes by Keigo Cornelius Oyamada.

    To Dust

To Dust will be the first solo album from Alice Russell since 2008's Pot Of Cold, and marks the next step forward in a remarkable career. Whether on a big stage with her 16-piece band, charming a crowd of 4000 into staying out dancing in the rain (as she did at Montreal Jazz Festival) or rocking out an intimate club with a stripped-down six piece, Alice's natural talent and charisma have always commanded attention and affection. Unfazed by taking to the spotlight after a sober Amy Winehouse or joining Roy Ayers live for Everybody Love The Sunshine, it is no wonder she has attracted worldwide media support, and praise from fans as diverse as Gilles Peterson, David Byrne, Dennis Coffey, Massive Attack's Daddy G, and Groove Armada.

    Await Barbarians

We are pleased to announce the release of Alexis Taylor's second solo album and first for
    Domino, Await Barbarians!

Taylor's (lead singer of Hot Chip) newest solo effort, Await Barbarians, is a series of songs
"from the halfway line." Possessing the same immediacy as his music with Hot Chip and the
adventurousness of his work with About Group, there is a special intimacy to these lyrics,
a simplicity and candour in his expression of emotion that brings to mind the best singer-songwriter records from Laurel Canyon, though as always with Taylor the moments of
honesty are matched with a sense of humour, playfulness and fun.

Await Barbarians follows Taylor's EP from last year, Nayim From The Halfway Line. Alexis
will be in the US for press and shows in NYC & LA to support his new solo album, while he
takes part in Atomic Bomb! The Music Of William Onyeabor tribute shows w/ David Byrne,
Money Mark and members of LCD Soundsystem

    Nanobots

Over the years, They Might Be Giants have switched between music for kids and music for grown-ups, and for their latest album, the band will be gearing their poppy alt-rock tunes towards adults. The collection is called Nanobots, and it was produced by frequent collaborator Patrick Dillett (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige) at his private studio. While this music isn't kid-oriented, it looks to be filled with no shortage of youthful exuberance. According to a press release, the album contains charming wit, electrifying pop melodies and just enough bass clarinet.

Certainly, the single Call You Mom could almost pass for a children's song with its garage pop riffs and slightly goofy lyrics. If you've got any kids who enjoy They Might Be Giants, they might well get a kick out of this one. This is the band's first album since 2011's Join Us.
