    Dark Side Of The Moon

Ranked 43/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Remastered From The Original Analogue Tapes By James Guthrie, Joel Plante, And Bernie Grundman

Pink Floyd's most successful and singularly defining album is here to stay. The Dark Side of the Moon has sold over 40 million copies worldwide since its release in 1973, and it shows no signs of letting up. With lush, immaculate production and sweeping instrumentals, The Dark Side of the Moon is unrivaled in sonic brilliance. The complex textures found within have captivated audiophiles for over thirty years.

With lyrics about seemingly mundane details set against dreamy, atmospheric backdrops, the songs on The Dark Side of the Moon achieve a truly emotional response. Performances are not virtuosic, but they are brilliant nonetheless and were likewise brilliantly recorded. Abbey Road Studios engineer Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd made use of some of the most advanced techniques available at the time to craft a sound that was innovative yet entirely classic, by any sense of the word. Swirling organs, mellow drums, and spacious guitars are signature sounds that have been inextricably linked with Pink Floyd's magnificent songwriting.

The Dark Side of the Moon is a peerless entry in the annals of classic rock history. No record collection should be without this multi-platinum masterpiece.

The Dark Side Of The Moon

The world's most predictably unpredictable band, The Flaming Lips, have teamed up with their Oklahoma City brethren, Stardeath and White Dwarfs to record their own unique take of Pink Floyd's 1973 classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon, under the title of The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches.

The collaborative project was recorded after several weeks of both bands touring the world together and mutually citing Pink Floyd as one of their favorite bands of all time and The Dark Side Of the Moon as one of their primary influences.

    Wish You Were Here

Ranked 209/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

On its release in 1975 Wish You Were here topped the album charts in both the UK and the US. Reflecting the band's thoughts of the time on the music business, and exploring themes of absence, Wish You Were Here contains the classic cut Shine On You Crazy Diamond, a tribute to founder member Syd Barrett.

Since 1967 Pink Floyd have produced one of the most outstanding and enduring catalogues in the history of recorded music. The albums have been painstakingly remastered by James Guthrie (co-producer of The Wall). Artwork designed by long-time artwork collaborator Storm Thorgerson. As a part of their Why Pink Floyd? campaign, EMI has chosen to release three titles on collector's vinyl LP (throughout the year 2011 and into early 2012) including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall. Look for more details to come!

    Legend Remixed

For the first time, Bob Marley and the Wailers' iconic 1984 album, Legend, is re-imagined for Legend Remixed, an inspired new spin on the reggae classic to celebrate the summer. Legend's 16 tracks have been remixed by top DJs/producers. Included in this the cohesive new set are tracks by ten time Grammy winner Stephen Marley, Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, Jason Bentley, Z-Trip with Lee Scratch Perry, Photek, My Morning Jacket's Jim James, Roni Size, RAC, Beats Antique, Nickodemus & Zeb, as well as a new rendition remix of Redemption Song by five-time Grammy Award winning reggae artist, Ziggy Marley.

The fourth track on the album, Three Little Birds, was remixed by Stephen Marley and DJ/producer Jason Bentley. This iconic Marley track serves as the worry-free anthem for Hyundai's new Assurance Connected Care program, a new suite of features that allows drivers to feel safe and secure and enjoy a stress-free ownership experience. Prior to its television debut, Three Little Birds made its television debut on May 14 with free downloads available to the first 15,000 fans through Hyundai's Facebook and YouTube channels and is also available for sale through all digital retailers.

Hyundai also supported the creation of the Making of Legend Remixed documentary, a short film about the creation of the new album including interviews with the Marley family and the musicians and remixers involved.

Bob Marley and The Wailers' Legend is the world's best-selling reggae album with global sales exceeding 40 million copies, including more than 14 million in the U.S. alone. The RIAA Diamond®-certified album holds the distinction of being the second longest-charting album in the history of Billboard magazine, second only to Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked LEGEND at No. 46 on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.

Bob Marley remains one of the 20th century's most important and influential entertainment icons. Marley's lifestyle and music continue to inspire new generations as his legacy lives on through his music. In the digital era, he has the second-highest social media following of any posthumous celebrity, with the official Bob Marley Facebook page drawing more than 42 million fans, ranking it among the Top 25 of all Facebook pages and Top 10 among celebrity pages. Since 1992, Marley's music catalog has sold more than 77 million albums worldwide and his accolades include inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1994) and ASCAP Songwriters Hall of Fame (2010), a GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award (2001), multiple entries in the GRAMMY® Hall Of Fame, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2001).

Remastered From The Original Analogue Tapes By James Guthrie, Joel Plante, And Bernie Grundman

    Certified Triple Platinum

Reached Number One In The Uk And The Us

The Division Bell is Pink Floyd's fourteenth and final studio album. It was originally released in the UK by EMI Records on 28 March 1994, and the US by Columbia Records on 4 April.

The music was written mostly by David Gilmour and Richard Wright; lyrically, the album deals with themes of communication. Recording took place in several locations, including the band's Britannia Row Studios, and Gilmour's houseboat, Astoria. The production team included Pink Floyd stalwarts such as producer Bob Ezrin, engineer Andy Jackson and saxophonist Dick Parry. Gilmour's new wife, Polly Samson, co-wrote many of the album's lyrics, and Wright performed his first lead vocal on a Pink Floyd album since 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon.

    Highway 61 Revisited

Highway 61 Revisited on Numbered Limited Edition 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Dylan's First Entirely Rock-Backed Album Marks Sea Change in Sound and Potential of Popular Music

Ranked #4 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time List

Album-Opening Like a Rolling Stone Challenging, Bold, Revolutionary-And Arguably the Best Rock Song Ever Recorded

Widescreen Sonics: Brilliant Collision of Evocative Poetry, Swirling Roots-Based Soul, and Hard-Driving Blues Sounds Incredible on MoFi 45RPM Pressing

1965 Set Also Includes Ballad of a Thin Man, Desolation Row, and Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

Its title references the road that spans North Minnesota to the Mississippi Delta, and the formative blues, country, and roots sounds connected to its existence. The highway also lays claim to towering musical myths and deaths, many tied to the blues lexicon and narrative. All figure prominently on the revolutionary beacon that is Highway 61 Revisited, the 1965 set that overturned rules, upended preexisting limits, and utterly changed everything in its path. Ranked the fourth-greatest album ever made by Rolling Stone, its reach, power, and content boggle the mind nearly five decades after its release.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system and pressed on 180 gram LP at RTI, this restored 45RPM analog version presents the life-altering music in reference-quality sound-so much so that the record's famous first lightning-strike note is now indeed the "snare shot that sound[s] like somebody'd kicked open the door to your mind," as once described by Bruce Springsteen.

Teeming with organic energy, palpable voltage, and countless textures, the LP faithfully recreates the dimensions, vibes, and events associated with the six days Dylan and Co. spent at Columbia's Studio A. Everything from the soundstages to dynamics, instrumental separation to balances, resonates with enormous might and insightful perspective. Wider grooves mean more information reaches your ears.

Recorded amidst a time of unfathomable turmoil and frustration that witnessed Dylan booed by fans, labeled a traitor, and call into question his work, Highway 61 Revisited roars and snarls, jabs and criticizes. Its bonfire of cynicism, fury, indignation, and absurdity forever transformed rock, what it could mean, and what it could do. Supported by a thundering, commanding band that included guitarist Mike Bloomfield and organist Al Kooper, Dylan hopscotches between tempos, moods, and melodies. The symmetry of the songs references a scattered hybrid of R&B, blues, folk, soul, gospel, vaudeville, and garage rock pieces that Dylan assembles in the shape of a brilliant, mind-teasing aural puzzle.

Outside of "Like a Rolling Stone"-the six-minute-plus anthem that both challenged and chewed up all preconceived notions of an acceptable radio single by way of its length, ambition, and vitriol-every tune was captured shortly after Dylan's contentious performance at the Newport Folk Festival. The lingering impact of the hostility comes through in both the searing music and rich, literate, zinging poetry. Dylan's sneering tones, raucous arrangements, and unmistakable resentment toward both the establishment and counterculture that adopted him, and assume the form of songs such as "Ballad of a Thin Man," "Queen Jane Approximately," "Tombstone Blues," and the stupefying "Desolation Row."

At its core, Highway 61 Revisited is about experience, reality, and the cruelties and truths that lie outside soporific safety nets and bourgeois ideals. These reasons-and the bold musicianship, ace performances, inimitable sonics, and vast lyrical expanses-are why the album means as much today as it did in the mid-1960s. Akin to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Dark Side of the Moon, this is an album that everyone needs to own and hear in the best-possible fidelity.

Eye in the Sky (Speakers Corner) (Awaiting Repress)

Unimpressed and untouched by the glorification of individuals so typical for the music business, the Alan Parsons Project proved that even without spectacular light shows, rock celebrities in the band or self-composed songs it was possible to rise to stardom. Alan Parsons, who first took up an apprenticeship as a sound engineer at EMI and was later responsible for several Paul McCartney productions and the Pink Floyd album 'Dark Side Of The Moon' at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, drew upon his experience in order to further his solo career. While the co-producer Eric Woolfson wrote songs, Parsons who had an uncanny feeling for sound conjured up synthetic and natural sounds.

As with all albums from the early years, 'Eye In The Sky' is inspired by important topics of the times. True to the 'no-future lifestyle' of the 80s, the songs impart a somewhat depressive character which serves as a stark contrast to the steely rock rhythms, free from electronic gimmicks. In addition one finds addictive harmony in the vocal polyphony ('Gemini'), blaring brass with a Spanish rhythm ('Silence And I') and a velvety string sound ('Old And Wise'). All in all a great achievement by the British wizard of sound at the mixing console.

    Musicians:

    • Alan Parsons (keyboards)

    • Eric Woolfson (keyboards, vocal)

    • Andrew Powell (arranger, conductor)

    • Ian Bairnson (guitar)

    • Mel Collins (saxophone)

    • David Paton (bass, guitar, vocal)

    • Stuart Elliot (drums, percussion)

Recording: 1981 at Abbey Road Studios, London, by Alan Parsons

Production: Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson

    About Speakers Corner

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.

    A Glorious Dawn (Cosmos Remixed)

Third Man Records is over the moon to announce the 7-inch release of 'A Glorious Dawn' on November 9th.

'A Glorious Dawn' is a moving arrangement of Carl Sagans sagacious words culled from his magnificent 'Cosmos' series. The piece initially gained recognition when composer John Boswell uploaded to YouTube his remixed Sagan dialogue edited, Auto-Tuned and put to a beat and coupled with a guest appearance by Stephen Hawking. At well over one million views, this is a project that goes far-beyond the buzz of 'Internet phenomenon.'

The release is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Sagans birth. Also happening that day is a reception in United States Congress with speeches by senators, NASA officials and assorted scientists, all hosted by the Planetary Society, which was co-founded by Sagan.

The one-sided single features a very special etching on the flipside. Reproduced from the original artwork, the etching copies the etching included with the Voyager Golden Record, set off into space in 1977 as the most elaborate message-in-a-bottle idea ever imagined. With its inclusion of Blind Willie Johnsons 'Dark Was The Night' it goes without saying that the Voyager Golden Record is one of Third Mans favorite releases of all-time.

Alan Parsons Project I Robot on Numbered Limited Edition 180g 45RPM 2LP From Mobile Fidelity

Perfectionism, Innovation, Complexities, and Reference-Grade Production Make Alan Parsons Project's Conceptual I Robot a Timeless Classic: Sci-Fi Arrangements Steeped In Drama and Moodiness

More Music, More Information, More Detail, More Nuance, More Everything: Mobile Fidelity 180g 45RPM 2LP Set the Definitive-Sounding Analog Version of 1977 Audiophile Standard

A Demonstration Disc for the Ages: Immaculate Highs and Lows, Supreme Spaciousness, See-Through Transparency, 3D Imaging, Wider Grooves on System-Testing Pressing

Audiophiles needn't any introduction to the Alan Parsons Project's I Robot. Engineered by Parsons after he performed the same duties on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, the 1977 record reigns as a disc whose taut bass, crisp highs, clean production, and seemingly limitless dynamic range are matched only by the sensational prog-rock fare helmed by the keyboardist. Not surprisingly, it's been issued myriad times. Can it be improved? Relish Mobile Fidelity's stupendous-sounding 180g 45RPM 2LP set and the question becomes irrelevant.

Mastered from the original master tapes and pressed at RTI, and afforded the luxurious groove space of a 45RPM LP, I Robot comes to life like never before on this numbered limited-edition reissue. Boasting immaculate highs and lows, generous spaciousness, and see-through transparency that takes you into the studio with Parsons and creative partner Eric Woolfson at Abbey Road, this super-clean edition has been lovingly restored by Mobile Fidelity engineers with the intention of demonstrating the full-range capabilities of the world's best stereo systems. Put simply, there's more music, more information, more detail, more nuance, more everything.

Savor reference-grade soundstages, immersive smoothness, sought-after instrumental separation, three-dimensional imaging, and consummate tonal balances. Able to be played back at high volumes without compromise or fatigue, the analog masterwork is a demonstration record for the ages - the likes of which are no longer being made. Longtime fans can finally rest assured knowing they don't have to pony up hundreds of dollars for older pressings - including three prior Mobile Fidelity versions on LP and CD. This is the very reason you own and invest in high-end audio gear.

Inspired by and loosely based around the Isaac Asimov stories of the same name, I Robot delves into themes of artificial intelligence and technological dominance that make the record increasingly relevant in the 21st century. Indeed, Parsons' pinnacle creation dovetailed with the ascendency of Star Wars, which itself is experiencing a rebirth in an age of self-driving cars, smart devices, and mindless automation. Lyrically, songs such as The Voice call into question human behavior - and their relationship to increasing robotic supremacy - in everyday life. Sonically, Parsons reflects the associated paranoia, dichotomy, and transformation via shifting sci-fi arrangements steeped in drama and moodiness.

I Robot's absorbing tunes also continue to fascinate due to their perfectionism and innovation. Borrowing from Pink Floyd's strategies, Parsons utilizes a looped sequence on the title track to create new downbeats. Some Other Time employs two different lead vocalists and yet gives the illusion only one is involved. Captivating strings, a piccolo trumpet, and bona fide pipe organ grace Don't Let It Show. The origins of Nucleus stem from a unique analog keyboard concoction dubbed the Projectron, devised by Parsons and electronic engineer Keith Johnson. Andrew Powell's orchestral and choral arrangements top it all off, with Total Eclipse arriving as an aptly frightening track that presages the climactic Genesis Ch. 1 V. 32.

Does man or machine win in the end? Decide with Parsons as you get lost in Mobile Fidelity's definitive pressing.

    Dark Side Of The Spoon

Available On Vinyl For The First Time

Dark Side Of The Spoon is the seventh studio album by Industrial Metal band Ministry, released in 1999. The song Bad Blood was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2000.

There are two theories behind the title (which occurs in the lyrics of the opening track), the first being a simple play on words, referencing Pink Floyd's record The Dark Side Of The Moon. The second is a reference to the blackened or dark side of a spoon when heated to dissolve heroin, as the band suffered from addiction to said substance at the time.

The album's cover, which features a naked fat woman sitting in front of a black board with I will be god written numerous times gained controversy and was banned from Kmart. The woman and the words on the blackboard were later airbrushed out.

Very limited last copies of this audiophile 12 vinyl single of the Roger Waters song Hello
    (I Love You).

    First come first served!

Hello (I Love You) is a song performed by former Pink Floyd member Roger Waters. The
song was created as a collaborative effort with Howard Shore for the 2007 film The Last Mimzy.

As Waters stated, I think together we've come up with a song that captures the themes of the
movie - the clash between humanity's best and worst instincts, and how a child's innocence can
    win the day.

Waters performed vocals and the bass for the song.
The song itself contains references to the Pink Floyd albums The Wall and The Dark Side of the
Moon, as well as Waters' solo album Radio KAOS.

The British progressive rock band Alan Parsons Project was active between 1975 and 1990. The Project consisted of Eric Woolfson and Alan Parsons surrounded by a varying number of session musicians.

Englishman Alan Parsons met Scotsman Eric Woolfson in the canteen of Abbey Road Studios in the summer of 1974.

Parsons had already acted as assistant engineer on The Beatles' 'Abbey Road' and 'Let It Be' and had recently engineered Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon'.

Woolfson, a songwriter and composer, was working as a session pianist.

'Pyramid' is the third album by The Alan Parsons Project and was originally released in 1978. The album contains numerous references to the Egyptian pyramids, hence the name.

Kid Cudi is ready to unveil his latest masterpiece, his epic third solo album: INDICUD. Over the course of the album, Cudi expands his hip hop galaxy through ethereal production, iridescent soundscapes, and airtight rhyming. Born in a nexus somewhere between Dr. Dre's 2001 and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, INDICUD is a trip all its own.

INDICUD reflects where Cudi (and hip hop) are headed next. His friends also play a big part in the story as it unfolds. King Chip cruises along on the hazy and hypnotic first single Just What I Am. It's classic Cudi with its smoky refrain, vibrant rapping, and unforgettable hook. Meanwhile, King Wizard proves to be an apropos title for the album's creator as some of his most groundbreaking work to date.

After all is said and done, Cudi's unstoppable, and his invincibility shines through every moment of Indicud. This artist is ready for revolution. Are you?

    Occult Architecture Vol. 1

Meaning all things magick and supernatural, the root of the word occult is that which is hidden, concealed, beyond the limits of our minds. If this is occult, then the Occult Architecture of Moon Duo's fourth album - a psychedelic opus in two separate volumes released in 2017 - is an intricately woven hymn to the invisible structures found in the cycle of seasons and the journey of day into night, dark into light. Offering a cosmic glimpse into the hidden patterning embedded in everything, Occult Architecture reflects the harmonious duality of these light and dark energies through the Chinese theory of Yin and Yang. In Chinese, Yin means the shady side of the hill and is associated with the feminine, darkness, night, earth. Following this logic, Vol. 1 embraces and embodies Moon Duo's darker qualities - released appropriately, in the heart of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

    Occult Architecture Vol. 2 (Pre-Order)

Meaning all things magick and supernatural, the root of the word occult is that
which is hidden, concealed, beyond the limits of our minds. If this is occult, then
the Occult Architecture of Moon Duo's fourth album - a psychedelic opus in two
separate volumes released in 2017 - is an intricately woven hymn to the invisible
structures found in the cycle of seasons and the journey of day into night, dark
    into light.

Offering a cosmic glimpse into the hidden patterning embedded in everything,
Occult Architecture reflects the harmonious duality of these light and dark energies
through the Chinese theory of Yin and Yang.

Following the Yin (feminine, darkness, night, earth) represented on Occult Architecture
Vol. 1, Vol. 2 presents the Yang. Yang means "the bright side of the hill" and
is associated with the male, sun, light and the spirit of heaven, and as such Vol. 2
explores the light and airy elements of Moon Duo's complex psyche.

"In production, we referred to Vol. 1 as the fuzz dungeon, and Vol. 2 as the crystal
palace," guitarist Ripley Johnson explains. "The darkness of Vol. 1 gave birth to the
light of Vol. 2. We had to have both elements in order to complete the cycle. We're
releasing them separately to allow them their own space, and to ensure clarity
of vision. To that end we also mixed Vol. 2 separately, in the height of Portland
summer, focusing on its sonic qualities of lightness, air, and sun. Listeners can
ultimately use the two volumes individually or together, depending on circumstance
    or the desired effect."

Vol. 2 was mixed in Portland by the band's longtime collaborator Jonas Verwijnen.

    Shadow of the Sun

Comes With 7 Featuring Lead Single "Animal" & Vinyl-Exclusive B-Side "Fadeaway"

Moon Duo began work on their latest album during a period in which they
faced a curious new reality. Freed from deadlines and expectations, and suddenly
off the road for a stretch, Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada found themselves
each experiencing strange shifts in their perceptions of reality. Like the beginning
of an acid trip, or the edge of dusk, when shadows converge mysteriously with
light, life began to slip into a surreal dream, and then back, suddenly, without
warning. Unstable in these strange shadows and light, the band turned to music
to tether themselves to a kind of working sanity.

Shadow of the Sun is the result of a few months of wrangling with this new unsettling
way of being. Working both in a dark basement in Portland, and above
ground in sunny San Francisco, these new sounds and songs veered dramatically
from groove to groove, revealing sonic textures the duo had not previously
explored. The song "Night Beat," with its woozy dance rhythm, is an attempt at
finding joy and acceptance on this new, shifting ground, while "Wilding" plays
off the familiar Moon Duo sound, taking refuge in a repetitive, grounding
riff-scape. Elsewhere the band gives itself entirely up to the trip, cruising along
on the fuzzed rhythms of "Slow Down Low" and "Free the Skull," crashing into
the clenched-teeth herky-jerk of "Zero," and floating down, down, down, on the
narcotic mist of "In a Cloud."

To further coat the album in a fog of stoned confusion, the duo decamped to
Berlin to mix with Finnish beat-meister Jonas Verwijnen of Kaiku Studios. There
they managed to entirely reverse the clarity of the album, increasing the overall
focus, and creating an unorthodox argument for sanity through extreme negation
    of proper technique and conventionality.

The result, at the end of the trip, is the album Shadow of the Sun.

Highway 61 Revisited on Numbered Limited Edition Mono 180 Gram 45RPM 2LP from Mobile Fidelity

Brilliant Collision of Evocative Poetry, Swirling Roots-Based Soul, and Hard-Driving Blues Sounds Incredible in Mono on Mobile Fidelity Vinyl: 2LP Set Strictly Limited to 3,000 Copies

Ranked the fourth-greatest album ever made by Rolling Stone, its reach, power, and content boggle the mind more than five decades after its release.

Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's world-renowned mastering system, pressed at RTI, and strictly limited to 3,000 copies, this restored analog mono version presents the life-altering music in reference-quality sound - so much so that the record's famous first lightning-strike note is now indeed the snare shot that sound[s] like somebody'd kicked open the door to your mind, as once described by Bruce Springsteen.

Teeming with organic energy, palpable voltage, and countless textures, Mobile Fidelity's mono 2LP set faithfully recreates the instrumentation, moods, and events associated with the six days Dylan and Co. spent at Columbia's Studio A. While many people experienced Highway 61 Revisited in stereo even at the time of its release, hearing it in mono reveals even more definition, focus, and liveliness. In particular, Dylan's voice is surrounded by more space and atmosphere, and its forefront position makes the lyrics that much more powerful. This is the way everyone would've been introduced to Like a Rolling Stone on AM radio. There's no substitute for such authenticity.

    Then It All Came Down

Then It All Came Down is J.R. Robinson s second long-form composition as Wrekmeister Harmonies. Employing an enormous ensemble of some of Chicago s best talents in the metal and experimental communities, including Wrest (Leviathan), Ryley Walker, and members of Indian, Corrections House, Twilight, Yakuza, Anatomy of Habit, Come, Mind Over Mirrors, and Bloodiest, Robinson has created a work that is equally gorgeous and menacing. The CD edition also includes 2013 s You ve Always Meant So Much To Me (on CD for the first time), bringing the total running time to over 73 minutes. Few artists have perfected the nuances of beauty as well as annihilation, and Robinson s mastery of both sides of the spectrum makes his a unique voice in the field of doom. J.R. Robinson perceives life as a long, gradual process of decay. Lightness fades into darkness, while innocence succumbs to the evils of modern society. His music reflects not only this worldview but his emotional response to it. Then It All Came Down is an exploration of that existential deterioration and an attempt at attaining a deeper understanding of its process. Then It All Came Down opens with a low, soft drone, creeping in almost imperceptibly. Bells chime as more tonal voices emerge from the ether, Walker s acoustic guitar echoing in the abyssal soundscape. Several women sing as sirens: Beautiful Sun. The piece is inspired by and takes its name from an essay written by Truman Capote following his interview with Manson-associate Bobby Beausoleil (which translates as beautiful sun ), whose dangerous spirit and embodiment of occult ideals offer an extreme example of the light into dark transition the piece explores. As the soft drones and angelic voices are replaced with threatening rumbles of distortion and low cackles courtesy of Wrest, an overwhelming sense of unease permeates the piece s atmosphere, only a harbinger of what is to come. When the piece does explode into crushing howls and heavy doom, all semblance of tranquility and stillness, the light, the peace, is exterminated. Then It All Came Down was debuted at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago under a full moon in July of 2013, the first in a continuing yearly series called Beyond The Gate. The series continued in 2014 with a debut of another new Wrekmeister composition which will be released in early 2015. Wrekmeister Harmonies will continue to bring large-scale productions involving a rotating cast of guest musicians to unconventional performance spaces throughout 2014-15, and has a future collaboration planned with The Body. An essay by Robinson about Beausoleil s influence on Charles Manson and his ideological lineage from Alastair Crowley is available for deeper insights into Robinson s fascination with the controversial cult figure.

    The Ghost Who Walks

On her debut disc, The Ghost Who Walks, Karen Elson spins intriguingly unsettling tales of lost love, dashed hope, romantic betrayal and various crimes of passion witnessed only by the full moon. In a coolly inviting voice, strumming an acoustic guitar, she summons up a dark yet seductive atmosphere, an after-midnight world that's irresistibly alluring. The arrangements for her small band - featuring the virtuosic Jackson Smith on guitar, Elson's longtime collaborator Rachelle Garniez on accordion and vocals, and husband-producer Jack White on drums -- evoke the lonesome side of country (''Cruel Summer'') or the tormented side of the blues (''The Truth Is In the Dirt''), with eerie organ touches, and keening electric guitars.

Until now, the British-born Elson has been better known as a top model, the face of ad campaigns for, among others, Armani, Prada, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent's Poison. With her pale white skin and shocking red hair, she seems an almost otherworldly presence on any given glossy page. While she assiduously worked as the face of various brands, she conducted an altogether different life behind the scenes as a singer and songwriter, honing what has proven to be her considerable skills. In part, she learned by doing: for the last five years, she's been a member, alongside Garniez, in the Weimar-style cabaret of New York City-based art and music collective The Citizens Band. Two of her more theatrical tracks, ''100 Years From Now'' and ''Mouths To Feed,'' inspired in part by author Tim Egan's dust bowl saga, The Worst Hard Time, were originally penned for her troupe, which combines bawdy entertainment with barbed political commentary.

The Ghost Who Walks may not be drawn literally from Elson's life, but it does represent an aspect of her psyche she's been brave enough to explore: ''I'm very much interested in the dark side of things. In my life, truthfully, I've had a lot of bizarre and dark experiences that have definitely colored the way I think about a lot of personal things. The music I have always listened to as well has had a sorrowful, mournful, if not murderous, quality to it.'' She pauses to laugh. ''I'm not saying I would ever want to kill anybody, but sometimes love can drag you to the very depths of yourself and - my God - make you so desperate and forlorn. I really respond to songs that write about that. Hank Williams, for crying out loud, speaking of being forlorn and forsaken -- there's a song I just heard of his, an early demo, that really resonated with me. Those songs move me in a way that happy go lucky songs don't.''

Roadsinger (To Warm You Through The NIght)

With his reintroduction to the pop world behind him, renowned singer-songwriter Yusuf (the artist known as Cat Stevens) is ready to once again strike up an intimate relationship with his audience. After retreating from the pop stage following classic '70s multi-platinum albums such as Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat and acclaimed hits such as Wild World, Peace Train, Moonshadow, Morning Has Broken and Father And Son, Yusuf returned in late 2006 with his first pop album in 28 years. Now he's back again with a second album, Roadsinger (To Warm You Through The Night).

I was absent from my audience for so long, Yusuf says, people thought another album would never come. The 2006 album, An Other Cup, was a surprise. With this new album, the distance is much less. I'm back to doing what I do best, painting pictures with music and storytelling on a very human, personal, intuitive level through lyrics and song, so I can help people feel good again. I guess in some ways the new album picks up where the Cat Stevens the public knows left off.

The album, Roadsinger (To Warm You Through The Night), was produced by the now singularly named Yusuf with help from Martin Terefe (James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Martha Wainwright), and recorded around the world. Guests include Morrison, Michelle Branch and Holly Williams (granddaughter of Hank Williams, Sr.).

The new album is a response to the way An Other Cup was received, Yusuf explains. Fans said they wanted to hear more of me with a guitar. So, this album is much more folk-tale oriented. Also, apart from one track, all of it was recorded live. I listened to a lot of' '70s L.A. music, such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Carole King, and it inspired me to go back into that intimate style of recording. The songs are somewhat autobiographical but abstract enough so everyone can relate to them and connect them to their own lives.

The title track, Roadsinger, unfolds the tale of an outcast who revisits his old hometown; along the empty street a child peeks from behind a store window and gives an innocent smile out of the shadows of prejudice. The theme of a journey has always been big with me, says Yusuf. A journey that was unexpectedly cut short in 2004 was when Yusuf was flying from his London home to Washington, D.C., en route to a meeting with Dolly Parton, who had recorded Peace Train several years earlier and wanted Yusuf to play guitar on her cover of his Where Do the Children Play. The incident that made headlines was resolved in 2006 and Yusuf's new song Boots and Sand resulted.

There are plenty people who sing, but not enough who have walked far from their block, he says. I embraced an unexpected spiritual path that was confusing for many (converting to Islam in 1977). Sadly, I'm still often misunderstood. Some people want to put me into their own one-sided view, but I don't fit those limitations. My world is still borderless and wide. The removal of conflict and establishment of peace has always been my global objective. It's a shame that lot of people, including some Muslims, overlook the name Islam, which actually comes from the word 'Peace' in Arabic.

The forthcoming album also showcases some songs from his upcoming musical Moonshadow. The story takes place on a planet of perpetual night where only the moon's shine lights the darkness; it is about a boy's meeting with his Moonshadow and the adventures they share in search for the a world of the sunlight and happiness. As well as having many new songs, the surrealistic musical, Moonshadow also weaves classic songs from his past, including Morning Has Broken, Wild World and The First Cut Is The Deepest.

Yusuf's return to his guitar came about when his teenage artist-musician son, Muhammad (aka Yoriyos), brought one home again. One morning, Yusuf was alone in the lounge when he looked over and felt a draw of curiosity overtake him. He slowly picked it up. I put my fingers on the fretboard to make a 'C' chord, he remembers, and surprised myself, It's still there! It felt right. So I started playing again. On the forthcoming album, Yusuf even plays electric guitar on a couple of tracks, along with keyboards. This part of my career feels similar in one sense to when I began, Yusuf reflects. I had to get past the songs on Mona Bone Jakon before I could move on to Tea For The Tillerman, etc. This time around it was the same story: I laid the groundwork with my debut album, An Other Cup, which inspired a great new collection of songs and scribblings. I had quite a few in my back pocket and again it was my son who sparked the next step. He said, 'Isn't it time to start recording a new album?' And it was.
