    Atrocity Exhibition

He is unmatchable in flow, delivery, and voice. Danny Brown has all the tools to be the greatest working rapper. -PITCHFORK

Atrocity Exhibition is one of the freshest and boldest-sounding rap albums in recent memory, a sonic swirl inspired by the work of Talking Heads and Joy Division that nonetheless sounds like nothing else from the past or present. Featuring contributions from producers like Evian Christ, Petite Noir (who also lends vocals to the world-weary clang of "Rolling Stone"), Black Milk, the Alchemist and frequent collaborator Paul White, the album is full of laser-beam guitars, gym-teacher whistles, creaking vocal samples, and air-raid drones. It is the most intriguing take on hallucinatory rap since the heady heights of Cold Vein or Madvillainy.

Known for his wide range of collaborations, including everyone from Purity Ring, the Avalanches and Rustie to Schoolboy Q, E-40, and Ghostface Killah, Atrocity Exhibition sees a continuation of this carefully curated mix. Kelela lends her snaking vocals to the intriguingly murky "From the Ground," Cypress Hill's B-Real delivers "Get Hi"'s languid hook, and Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, and Ab-Soul all convene for the twinkling ominousness of album standout "Really Doe." "When XXX came out, all of us were peers, and those were the three rappers who were the best," Brown explains on having the star-packed trio appear on the track. "I felt like we were competitors, they made me want to step my game up. I wanted to put the hottest rappers in the game on there."

This album is a highly personal take on Brown's ruminations on life and the changes that have occurred -and those that didn't - following the ups and downs of career success. Atrocity Exhibition makes for a thrilling third installment in the Danny Brown biopic, one not to be missed.

    Run The Jewels 3

    Gold Colored Vinyl

    Includes Poster & Sticker Sheet

Run the Jewels have finally announced the full details of their highly anticipated new studio album, RTJ3.

The album features Danny Brown, Kamasi Washington, TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, Trina, Boots, and more. It features the previously released songs "Talk to Me," "Panther Like a Panther (I'm the Shit)," and "2100."

Timothy Saccenti, Run the Jewels' frequent artistic collaborator, made the new album's cover. RTJ shared a statement about how the new album's artwork fits in the trilogy of covers. It depicts the RTJ logo as "a sculpture of the hands cast in metal, chromed, and gold-plated":

For us, the RTJ1 hands were about "taking what's yours"-your world, your life, your attitude. The RTJ2 hands were wrapped in bandages, signifying injury and healing, which for us represented the growth in ideas and tone of that album. For RTJ3 the bandages are off, the chain is gone and the hands have been transformed into gold. For us this represents the idea that there is nothing to take that exists outside of yourself. You are the jewel.

    Pinata

Freddie Gibbs is the product of violent, drug-laden streets but unlike most rappers with similar resumes, he brings the block to the booth
without inhibition or an exaggerated rap persona. Piñata, a 17 track collaboration with producer Madlib, is the best distillation yet of his
transparent approach to making music, combining an at times stark honesty with electrifying talent as a lyricist and performer.

Piñata is "a gangster Blaxploitation film on wax," says Gibbs, who came up on the streets of Gary, Indiana, the disregarded city previously
best known for producing Michael Jackson. Here he is joined by Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, Raekwon, Scarface, Domo Genesis, Ab-Soul
and a host of others in setting his soliloquies of the streets alongside film snippets and dusted funk, soul and prog musical tapestries. While
this is the latest in a series of single-artist collaborations for Madlib, after Jaylib (J Dilla), Madvillainy (MF Doom) and the street-centric
O.J. Simpson with Detroit's Guilty Simpson, the pairing is unique as it is the first time for Gibbs working with just one producer.

On Piñata, where Gibbs can shift from textbook lessons in robbing and drugging on trackslike "Scarface" and "Knicks," to perhaps the
album's most personal song, "Broken," a collaboration with Scarface, who, along with Tupac, DMX and 50 Cent, make up the rapper's own
Mount Rushmore of MCs ("You're getting a hurricane of all those motherfuckers hitting you at once when you listen to Freddie Gibbs," he
says). "Deeper," a Gibbs favorite and the third single from the album after "Thuggin'" (2012) and "Shame," (2013) is an ode to hip-hop in
the mold of Common's "I Used to Love H.E.R."; "High," featuring Danny Brown, is self-explanatory and just what you would expect from
Gibbs, Madlib and one of Detroit's finest; while on "Real," Gibbs addresses an old score just as Michael Corleone settled all family business
    on baptism day.

As a producer, Madlib, quite simply, is music, and ten years into his career-a time when other artists become comfortable-Gibbs remains
restless, focused, with an eye on the competition and their position relative to his ascent. This is because mentally, he's still on the corner
hustling, which would be the downfall of the average rapper. With Piñata, Gibbs confirms that he is anything but average.

    The Mountain Has Fallen EP

'The Mountain Has Fallen EP features collaborations with Nas, Danny Brown, Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price and a brand new solo composition.

'The Mountain Has Fallen' starts with Systematic, DJ Shadow and Nas' first-ever collaboration together. The song debuted during the season premiere of HBO's Silicon Valley in April. Horror Show finds Shadow and Danny Brown collaborating for the first time over a jagged, haunting soundscape. Good News is a brand new composition, reminiscent of some of Shadow's more free-form, fractured work found on 2016's 'The Mountain Will Fall' full-length.

The EP closes with Corridors, a piece featuring Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price (who scored the 'Gravity' film). Shadow is a massive fan of his work, and Price wrote and programmed the string parts on the song.

From the start of my last album, I envisioned collaborating with other instrumentalists who operate outside of the bass and hip-hop realms, ultimately working with the amazing Nils Frahm and Matthew Halsall. Like many, I had always been enthralled by the soundtrack for the film 'Gravity,' and went about connecting with Steven purely as a fan. I was overjoyed when the opportunity to combine on a song came to pass. His ability to harness orchestral elements and join them with a sound design aesthetic made my contributions seem almost effortless, which is the mark of a fruitful partnership. - DJ Shadow, on Corridors

Turns out sometimes you should meet your heroes. Working with Josh to create 'Corridors,' hearing musical ideas and phrases come back to me twisted and skewed through the filter of his unique sensibilities, was an amazing experience. The mark of a good collaboration is when the track heads off in a direction you could never have imagined when working on your own, and no one puts a track together like DJ Shadow. It was an honour to work with him. - Steven Price, on Corridors

    The New Monday (Pre-Order)

It's been four years since Zach Saginaw, aka Shigeto, returned home to Michigan from a stint in Brooklyn, NY, and since then, the multi-faceted musician has become a part of the fabric of Detroit's music scene. While always having a personal approach to his projects, Saginaw's influences for his third album, The New Monday, are more about the community of Detroit than anything else. The record - named after a weekly DJ event called Monday is the New Monday that Saginaw does at the unassuming Motor City Wine with a group of friends - aptly features contributions from many other Detroit-based artists like Danny Brown's Bruiser Brigade affiliate ZelooperZ (who Saginaw also has a side project with called ZGTO). The New Monday represents a communal effort where solidarity is the key. I think over the past four years, I can confidently say that I found my place here, describes Saginaw. I'm happy here and I feel that I have the respect from the people I need respect from, that I want respect from. It's all of the result of embracing it and embracing, not Detroit, but embracing community, embracing family, being closer to my parents, being closer to my oldest friends.

    Silent Reign Of Heroes

This Lynyrd Skynyrd-style, blues rock outfit emerged from the US deep south. The name derived from a tale of a woman in seventeenth-century Salem who beheaded her lovers with an axe after sleeping with them. The initial line-up comprised Dave Hlubek (guitar), Steve Holland (guitar), Duane Roland (guitar), Banner Thomas (bass), Danny Joe Brown (vocals) and Bruce Crump (drums). Their 1978 debut album, produced by Tom Werman (of Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent fame), was an instant success, with its three-pronged guitar onslaught and gut-wrenching vocals. The band then achieved a US Top 20 placing with their second album, Flirtin` With Disaster. Brown was replaced by Jimmy Farrar in 1980, before the recording of the band`s third album, Beatin` The Odds. Farrar`s vocals were less distinctive than Brown`s, and an element of their identity was lost during the time that Farrar fronted the band. Nevertheless, commercial success continued, with both Beatin` The Odds and Take No Prisoners peaking on the Billboard album chart at numbers 25 and 36, respectively. In 1982, Danny Joe Brown rejoined the band in place of the departed Farrar, while Thomas and Crump were replaced by Riff West and B.B. Borden respectively. No Guts ... No Glory emerged and marked a return to the band`s roots: explosive guitar duels, heart-stopping vocals and steadfast rock `n` roll. Surprisingly, the album flopped and Hlubek insisted on a radical change in direction. Steve Holland quit and drummer Crump returned, while keyboard player John Galvin (from the Danny Joe Brown Band) was recruited for the recording of The Deed Is Done. This was a lightweight pop rock album, largely devoid of Molly Hatchet`s former trademarks. Following its release, the band retired temporarily to lick their wounds and reassess their future. In 1985, Double Trouble Live was unveiled, with a return to former styles. It included versions of their best-known songs, plus a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute in the form of `Freebird`. Founder member Dave Hlubek subsequently departed, to be replaced by Bobby Ingram. The band signed a new recording contract with Capitol Records and returned with 1989`s Lightning Strikes Twice. This leaned away from their southern roots towards highly polished AOR. Featuring cover versions of Paul Stanley`s `Hide Your Heart` and `There Goes The Neighborhood`, the album was poorly received by fans and critics alike. A number of line-up changes ensued in the early 90s, leaving Brown as the only remaining original member. During this period he was continually plagued by illness as a result of diabetes. and eventually left Molly Hatchet in 1996 as they embarked on another recording comeback. The line-up that recorded Devil`s Canyon comprised Bobby Ingram, John Galvin, Phil McCormack (vocals), Bryan Bassett (guitar), Andy McKinney (bass) and Mac Crawford (drums). The revived band, with additional keyboard player Tim Donovan, then completed 1998`s Silent Reign Of Heroes. Further line-up changes saw mainstays Ingram, Galvin and McCormack joined by a regularly rotating cast list of musicians, as the band continued to tour and record with great success. Original guitarist Hlubek rejoined the line-up in early 2005 shortly before his former colleague Danny Joe Brown succumbed to diabetes.

    Cancer For Cure

Independent rap icon El-P is set to release his long awaited new solo album Cancer For Cure, at his new home Fat Possum. The new album marks his first full length rap album since 2007's critically acclaimed I'll Sleep When You're Dead, though El-P's rap trajectory has been on a steady ascent following a prolific year that saw high profile appearances on Das Racist's mixtape and debut album, a hugely buzzed Adult Swim single "Drones Over Bklyn," a verse (which made Stereogum's top 10 guest verses of the year) on one of the year's biggest online hits, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire's "Huzzah," among several other honors.

The record is arriving hot on the heels of the new Killer Mike album R.A.P. Music, which El-P produced in full and is already making huge noise with its first single "Big Beast (featuring Bun B, T.I. and Trouble)," which was awarded Pitchfork's rare 'Best New Track' designation.Cancer For Cure takes another huge leap forward from the production work of his 2010 instrumental album Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx with a bombastic collision of synths, bottomless bass tones, live instrumentation, ear-worming melody, and tightly coiled drum patterns, setting the standard for hip hop production higher than ever.

The obvious diversion from the previous album is the presence of El-P's ever-developing vocal style, continuing to raise the bar on his already highly verbose flow that swiftly and muscularly navigates a rapidfire explosion of syllabic conundrums and quick-witted elocutions full of heart, purpose, style and grit. Rounded out by feature appearances by a host of high profile guests including Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin' Exquire, Paul Banks (Interpol), and more, this will easily be one of the year's most talked about albums.

    Something Else

After achieving his highest-charting release with 2011's All 6's And 7's (#4 Billboard), Strange Music general Tech N9ne tackles the most ambitious album of his career with Something Else. The Kansas City emcee kept fans busy in 2012 with the release of three consecutive Top 3 rap EP releases - KLUSTERFUK, E.B.A.H., and Boiling Point.

With demand at a fever pitch, Tech N9ne aims to give listeners an untouched piece of his life while cementing his place among rap's elite.

The beats sound nothing like anything you've ever heard me on, say Tech. The features that I'm going for are something you would never imagine. All I can say about it now is that it's a very human album. What I mean by that is that it's contradictory. On one song I say, 'The saint is ours', like we're in the saint's corner and then I have another song called 'I'm Not A Saint'. It's so beautiful because the King, the Clown, and the G are still present on this album.

There are no apologies in what I'm saying. I don't mind that it contradicts itself because that's what people do. The album is everywhere. It feels like it's Hell, Purgatory and Heaven all over again. I'm telling stories that I've never told - that I was afraid to tell on some songs. It's super personal and I've got a big chip on my shoulder again. It's always been there, but it's getting bigger having to prove to fans and critics that we ain't going nowhere.

Album Features: Kendrick Lamar, The Doors, B.O.B., Wiz Kalifah, Cee Lo Green, Serge (System Of The Down), Game, Danny Brown, Big K.R.I.T., Krizz Kaliko, Mayday and others.

    Deluxe Gatefold Package

Salvation Town, the surprising and powerful solo debut by Jonny Two Bags,
guitarist for the Southern California punk rock institution Social Distortion,
defies expectations at every turn. Produced by David Kalish, noted for his long
association with Rickie Lee Jones, at his Redstar Studio in Los Angeles, the
album features 10 striking original songs written by Jonny Two Bags, a.k.a.
    Jonny Wickersham.

A diverse array of talent that spans the musical spectrum
was enlisted for the recording. Jackson Browne shares vocals with Wickersham
on "Then You Stand Alone," while David Lindley, whose guitar work graced
several of Browne's classic '70s albums, contributes to four tracks. Los Lobos'
multi-instrumentalist David Hidalgo and his sons David Jr. and Vincent join in
on "Wayward Cain" and super-sideman Greg Leisz (Lucinda Williams, Eric
Clapton, k.d. lang, Dave Alvin) also appears on guitar. The drum chair is filled
by Pete Thomas, a mainstay of Elvis Costello's bands. Wickersham's colleagues in Social Distortion, keyboardist Danny McGough
and bassist Brent Harding, join on a few tracks while Austin accordion luminary Joel Guzman and bassist/punk kingpin Zander
Schloss (Weirdos, Circle Jerks, Thelonious Monster) round out the lineup.

    Holographic Violence

In the five years since Grave Babies' debut album Deathface was released, founder Danny Wahlfeldt has been handling all songwriting and recording duties for the Seattle-based band, with invaluable help from friends in performing their material live. For their newest album entitled Holographic Violence, Wahlfeldt chose a different path, causing a significant change in the band's overall sound.

Holographic Violence is Grave Babies' second Hardly Art full-length after Crusher (2013), and further explores the themes of nihilism, the pending doom of mankind, and shaming humanity, which the band has been building their gloomy reputation on since the beginning. This time however, instead of recording everything in his basement, Wahlfeldt enlisted the help of Bryce Brown (Crypts) on bass and Mark Gajadhar (Blood Brothers, Past Lives) on drums in the early stages of recording. The songs on Holographic Violence fell into place in Mark's studio on Orcas Island, Washington. Mixing was handled by Matt Bayles (Alice in Chains, Mastodon), with final mastering by Chris Common (Chelsea Wolfe, Mars Volta). As a final touch, Claire Haranda was added to the lineup on keyboards and synth to round out the band's live sets. By leaving the edgy, lo-fi haze of earlier output in the past, these songs have clarified what the music of Grave Babies has to offer the future.

That is, if humanity has a future?

"I wanted it to be a last cry for sanity going into our dystopian future," Wahlfeldt says about Holographic Violence. Grave Babies has long held a crush on morbidity, death, and corruption, building a romantic relationship around the juxtaposition of the dark contextual matter with hook-heavy songs rife with pretty melodies and harmonies. The 11 new songs on Holographic Violence present this powerful combination from a science fiction perspective, begging the question: has our imagination outpaced the confines of our reality as we keep going down the same path, believing there's hope? Playing anthemic pop songs with a strange male choir-esque sound to the vocals adds a distinctly cultish feel to the abrasive exercise of figuring out if it is possible to circumvent destructive human predispositions.

Thus, Holographic Violence is a lesson in authenticity as we must look deeper into the subject matter for the finer details, instead of skimming the surface and believing we have things right at a mere glance. Maybe we just have to come to terms with the fact that the things that we're constantly running away from are inherent in ourselves and inescapable? Grave Babies mission is not to find the answers to these questions, but to challenge the listener and on Holographic Violence, their uncompromising aesthetic makes the suffering a little prettier.

One of the first Broadway musical scores to be overtly jazz-influenced was Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, a tale of rival street gangs in the inner city. In 1962, pianist Oscar Peterson put his light-swing signature on the already popular score, making it, in the words of one critic, a delight to hear again and earning him a Grammy nomination.

Recorded during the last decade of his long tenure with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, this album finds the great alto saxophonist Johnny Hodges' musical gifts not only intact but stronger than ever. Featuring the Ellington band - with Jimmy Jones on piano and Billy Strayhorn as bandleader and arranger - it is a fascinating program of Ellington remakes, including tome of the orchestra's most familiar numbers, all of which have been given subtle new orchestrations by Strayhorn and melodious new interpretations by Hodges.

    Excitable Boy

Excitable Boy is the third album by Warren Zevon, released in 1978. It includes the top 40 success Werewolves of London, featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass. The album brought Warren to commercial attention and remains the best-selling album of his career.

The tracks Excitable Boy and Werewolves of London were considered macabrely humorous by some critics. The historical Veracruz dramatizes the United States occupation of Veracruz, and likewise Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner is a fictionalization of a mercenary in Africa. Lawyers, Guns and Money is a tongue-in-cheek take on Cold War paranoia. In addition, there are two ballads about life and relationships (Accidentally Like a Martyr and Tenderness on the Block), as well as a dance tune (Nighttime in the Switching Yard).

Additional musicians included in the album's creation are band members Jorge Calderón on vocals, Danny Kootch Kortchmar on percussion and guitar, and Russ Kunkel on drums. Among others, also Jackson Browne, Jeff Porcaro, Linda Ronstadt and Waddy Wachtel are featured as session musicians.

When Norman Granz signed Johnny Hodges to a recording contract in 1951, it was a prelude to Hodges' leaving the Duke Ellington orchestra to lead his own small band. Four years later Hodges was back in the Ellington fold, but he continued to record for Granz under his own name. Side By Side, recorded in 1958 and 1959, is a throwback to the small-group sessions Ellington recorded with Hodges and other members of his orchestra in the Thirties, but with a couple of important differences: the absence of Ellington himself on several cuts (with Billy Strayhorn taking over on piano), and the presence of such notable non-Ellingtonians as drummer Jo Jones and trumpeters Roy Eldridge and Harry Sweets Edison.

The Biggest Thing Since Colossus (Pure Pleasure)

During the sixties, there was the British blues boom, containing many blues bands, one of the finest being Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. In January of 1969 Fleetwood Mac were at Chess Studios, Chicago, jamming with the likes of Willie Dixon, S.P.Leary, Honeyboy Edwards, J.T.Brown and longtime Muddy Waters pianist Otis Spann. The end result of those sessions was the classic double album "Blues Jam At Chess".
The rapport between the Mac and Otis Spann was such that they recorded another whole album together, " Colossus".

Otis Spann is his usual emotive and exciting self, feeling totally relaxed alongside his regular drummer, S.P.Leary. This coupled with Peter Green's guitar playing, which is probably at it's peak on these recordings, makes for a blues album of substance.
"The Biggest Thing Since Colossus" is probably one of the most underrated blues albums. Long out of print on vinyl and now re-mastered from the original 1/4-inch tapes this album is a must buy for all.

    • Otis Spann (vocal, piano)

    • Peter Green (guitar)

    About Pure Pleasure

At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Pure Pleasure all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.

During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existent tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.

A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.

We should like to emphasize that Pure Pleasure Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle.

We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.

To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.
