    Live At Wacken

Danko Jones, the band, stand and deliver crisp, catchy and crunchy hard rock with such exciting consistency that they have cultivated
an equally loyal and consistently fervent fan base worldwide. Danko Jones, the frontman and guitarist, writes such irrepressible, hookladen-yet-crunchy
electric tunes that it's impossible not to get sucked in by the alt-punk edge to his songs. The net result is a live
performance driven by this power trio's sweat and electricity.

Featuring their 18 song 2015 set, Live At Wacken provides fiery bursts
of energy, quirky alternative riffery and Jones' own electric personality, one which has seen him become an independent
commentator, spoken word artist and columnist for The Huffington Post.

Live At Wacken will be followed by a busy 2016 as Danko Jones once again take their firebrand rock'n'roll revival on another world
tour. Irrepressibly energetic, unflinchingly honest and engagingly addictive, Danko Jones never give anything less than 110% whether
on stage, screen or stereo; unsurprisingly, everybody wants some!

    Born A Lion

orn a Lion is a fierce mother of an album, fairly exploding with crunching riffs and thunderous rhythms. Sure, the lyrics may be a bit ham-fisted, but with music this aggressive and cocky, that almost seem necessary. Guitarist/vocalist Danko Jones fancies himself a rock & roll outlaw, the illegitimate spawn of Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott, raised on a steady diet of 1970s hard rock and punk. His bare-bones, knuckle-dragging brand of hard rock is, in fact, mostly about attitude, combining the solid three-chord crunch of AC/DC with the furious MC5-informed attack of Sweden's Hellacopters. He and his cohorts--bassist John Calabrese and drummer Damon Richardson--bully their way through 11 bruising cuts, never pausing for anything more than a brief musical breakdown to let Jones testify (a la the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion). It's a solid formula that they seem unwilling to tamper with much, and why should they? If it works well on the opening Play the Blues, it'll be just as good on the closing Love is Unkind. Yep, above everything else, Born a Lion is a consistent album from start to finish, and while not exactly fresh sounding, for 30-plus minutes it kicks some serious ass. --Adem Tepedelen

Garage Rock! A Collection Of Lost Songs From 1996-1998

One day I'm gonna write a book and let everybody know how to do it; seems there's a lot of people around who want to see if I can prove it! I've been a rock prodigy since the age of 20 and my proof, my proof is RIGHT NOW! Danko Jones have never been a band that sounded the least bit short on confidence, and those lines from Make You Mine confirm these guys had the sweat and the attitude years before they landed a record deal. Garage Rock! A Collection of Lost Songs from 1996-1998 consists of rough demos Danko Jones cut during their first two years of existence, before making their debut album, Born a Lion, in 1999. If this stuff sounds raw and scrappy -- especially the nine tunes from a four-track session somewhere in Toronto -- the trio already feels tight and boasts attitude to spare, with namesake guitarist and vocalist Jones spitting fire and laying out a potent array of downstrokes, while bassist John Calabrese and drummer Atom Willard hold down the beats while keeping the songs in fourth gear at all times. Ultimately, Garage Rock! sounds like a less precise version of Danko Jones as we know them today, but despite the lower fidelity and relatively simpler attack (which is still pretty furious by the standards of most bands), it sounds like they knew what they wanted and how to do it on day one, and the real task was getting their skills on par with their ambitions. Danko Jones are as tough and forceful as they want to be in 2014, but Garage Rock! confirms they could write great songs and raise hell long before that, and they were a blast right out of the gate.

Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue

Over the course of six full-length albums, Danko Jones has forged a singular sound that draws equally from the blues, '60s garage, '70s hard rock, '80s hardcore, punky power-pop, Scandinavian metal, and classic stand-up comedy records without ever being fully defined by any of those sources.

But while built from the same rudiments, each Danko Jones record possesses a distinct sonic identity. Born A Lion (2002) brought the boogie and sledgehammer soul; We Sweat Blood (2003) was, by contrast, more anxious and aggro. Sleep Is the Enemy (2006) wielded the sharpest hooks. Never Too Loud (2008) was as slick as Below the Belt (2010) was stripped-down.

But, compared to all that's come before, Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue is, hands down, the most emotional and, as a result, the most epic Danko Jones album to date. What you hear on Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue is the Danko Jones ideal blown up to skyscraping proportions, resulting in 13 tracks that are bolder, brasher, and brawnier than anything they've attempted before.

The album is produced in full by their longtime partner in crime Matt DeMatteo and was mixed by Mike Fraser, known for his work with AC/DC and Aerosmith among others. It is also the first album recorded with "new" drummer Atom Willard, the sixth person in Danko Jones history to hold the "drummer" title, but the first to stand on equal creative footing with Danko and his longtime foil, bassist John "JC" Calabrese.

    Never Too Loud (Awaiting Repress)

Not too many people outside of Canada and Scandinavia seemed to notice, but Toronto-based trio Danko Jones were responsible for some of the most electrifying, ass-kicking, fearsomely focused hard rock of the third millennium's first decade. That being said, after failing to attract a larger audience with two unquestionably stellar albums released through Razor & Tie, the band found itself relegated to smaller indie label Bad Taste for 2008's Never Too Loud, meaning that not even U.S. distribution was a given. Notwithstanding this problematic setback, though, Danko Jones showed they still held an ace or two in their hands by securing the services of hotshot producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, etc.) to oversee Never Too Loud's sessions, and their new ally seemed to be fan enough to not attempt altering the band's sound, even while helping the group to cast a slightly wider stylistic net beyond its usual Thin Lizzy and AC/DC-fishing grounds. Among the resulting surprises was the acoustic guitar-driven nostalgia of Take Me Home and a pair of stoner rock-flavored offerings in the Fu Manchu-like, groove-oriented opener Code of the Road and the extended six-minute head nod of Forest for the Trees (Danko's longest track ever, by far), which culminated with guest vocals from Kyuss legend John Garcia. Beyond this experimental trio, though, Never Too Loud remained relatively faithful to the familiar Danko Jones sound -- albeit rarely played quite as loud as on prior releases, ironically enough. Sure, the punkish pogo-fest of Let's Get Undressed and the raging hormones of teenage fantasy Still in High School both recalled some of the band's wilder, earliest outbursts, and impertinent challenges like Your Tears, My Smile and Something Better confirmed the enduring chip on eponymous frontman Danko Jones' shoulder. But the mellower, melody-ridden King of Magazines and Ravenous definitely valued quality over quantity, and both the album's worst and best offerings paid serious dues to the band's chief influences, the closing title track collapsing under the weight of dull repetition (akin to AC/DC's least inspired latter-day songs) while first single City Streets reached for the heavens of perfection with that glorious blend of crunchy riffs and longing melodies (the very same ones that earned Thin Lizzy's Philip Lynott his angel's wings). And so, somewhere between the same ol' and brand new, the disappointing and sublime, Never Too Loud proved to be yet another enjoyable LP from Danko Jones, despite ranking just a notch below their most recent triumphs.

    We Sweat Blood (Awaiting Repress)

All of the warning signs are right there on the cover: the band name in a jagged and stylized font, a close-up on someone playing an electric guitar, and dripping blood. Yeah, that's right, this is a metal album. It was pretty clear on Born a Lion that Danko Jones was already heading in this direction, with loud boogie-soaked riffs that owed more to AC/DC than the revved-up funk that served as the bedrock of the group's two early EPs. Not that you'd confuse We Sweat Blood for commercial-grade metal: there's very little bombast and absolutely zero hand-wringing earnestness here. The production is incredibly crisp -- instead of soaking everything in sight with reverb, most of the vocals are clean and the drums snap like whip cracks -- and the performance is very clean, with no pointless wailing from either the vocals or guitars. Everything has been stripped back to the basics: sex, Satan, and super-high volume. Sure, the lyrics are so over the top in places that it's almost like the band has become a cartoon: in the album opener, Forget My Name, She makes me forget my name is followed up by I wanna, I wanna, I wanna burn in Hell with you. Elsewhere, Baby I want to put some mileage on your lovebike/I want you out on the road with my testosterone make you feel alright is delivered with a straight face. There's even a tribute to one of fellow Canadian Neil Young's sillier lyrics. Deathless prose for the ages this ain't, but it doesn't really matter, because the groove is deep, the rock is hard, and those who aren't shaking their hips will probably be resisting the urge to follow along on the ol' air guitar. Fire Music

Danko Jones has announced the release of FIRE MUSIC via Bad Taste Records/MRI. The new album is loaded with some of the most incendiary, fierce, and downright pissed-off songs the band has ever committed to tape. In the past, Danko Jones' repertoire has frequently exhibited a physical and emotional release for those times when love is unkind, but with these songs the trio exhibits what happens when therapy doesn't work. Song to song, the listener experiences Danko's pent-up agitation that has been left to stew, getting expelled into pure, merciless, violent rock 'n' roll fury. The repertoire unleashes a torrent of Misfits-worthy shout along hooks, as Jones crosses into a realm where whatever belief he ever had in love and romance has disintegrated into the darkest depths of a blackened soul.

Danko Jones' composition "Gonna Be A Fight Tonight" has been selected as the official theme song for WWE's Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View Event, taking place on January 25, 2015 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. One of WWE's pinnacle annual events, this year it is especially buzzing in anticipation of its main event "Triple Threat Match" featuring WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar versus John Cena versus Seth Rollins.

With the new album, co-founders Danko Jones and John JC Calabrese welcome new drummer Rich Knox, formerly of southern fried Toronto rockers Flash Lightning. FIRE MUSIC was produced and mixed by Juno Award winning producer Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Monster Truck, Metric), and the cover / packaging was designed by Grammy Award winner Gail Marowitz.

    Sleep Is The Enemy

If there's one thing Danko Jones know how to do at this point, it's how to rock. They did it in We Sweat Blood, and it's exactly what they do again in their fifth full-length album, Sleep Is the Enemy. The formula for both these albums has been pretty consistent: fast power chords with a distorted bass echoing the guitar; loud, driving drums; and vocals that fluctuate from a low growl to a mellifluous croon to a full-out scream. But that doesn't mean the new album is ever boring: there's too much raw emotion and sexual energy to allow anyone even a brief moment to nod off. For the band, this is a very important thing; the name of the record is Sleep Is the Enemy, after all, and the simple, to-the-point choruses are just meant to be shouted along to in packed, sweaty stadiums. Jones himself is all testosterone and bravado and is in great form vocally, expressing his indifference toward a jaded lover in Baby Hates Me, instructing the less confident in when and how to give The Finger, and angrily yelling his plans for revenge in Time Heals Nothing. Yes, the themes here, like they always have been with the band, are women and sex and aggression, which are practically the same thing for Jones, but in Sleep Is the Enemy his willingness to explore the ambiguity of the topics shows his (slightly greater) maturity. In She's Drugs (which contains the fantastically catchy chorus She's drugs, she's drugs/Just one look and you get addicted/She's drugs, she's drugs/You take a look and now you're hooked, that's what I predicted), he chides a friend for being seduced by a dangerous woman, but then in Invisible, he goes on to list a number of extreme things he'll do for another who isn't noticing him (burning his house down, maxing out his credit card, and making his mother cry being three of the least violent examples). Yeah, Sleep Is the Enemy isn't musical genius by any standard, but it is a loud, confident, straightforward, and fun album that skips guitar solos and instrumental frills to focus on what truly matters to Danko Jones: rocking. - Marisa Brown (All Music Guide)

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman will release Inferno, his first solo album of original material in four years, via Prosthetic Records. The album was recorded primarily in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, CHILDREN OF BODOM) and mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH) - features what Friedman recently told Guitar World is the most intense writing and playing I can do. The album also includes notable guest appearances by several artists influenced by Friedman, including flamenco/metal acoustic guitar duo RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho, SKYHARBOR mastermind Keshav Dhar and REVOCATION guitar whiz David Davidson, as well as Friedman's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in CACOPHONY, the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem.

In addition, Inferno breaks all genre rules and creates new ones with an exhilarating and musically daring mash-up with Jørgen Munkeby of the acclaimed blackjazz act SHINING, as well as two tracks featuring vocals by rock guru Danko Jones. Overall, Inferno is by fa Friedman's most thrilling and adventurous effort to date.
