Remastered Deluxe 180g Vinyl Limited To 3000 2 LP

Extensive Booklet With Photos From The Band's Archives, Alternate Album Art Sketches, A List Of All Tour Dates From The Era, Show Posters, And New Liner Notes Written By The A.V. Club's Kyle Ryan

8 Bonus Tracks From The Era, Including 4 Tracks From The 8 Teeth To Eat You Split EP Previously Unreleased On Vinyl

"A brilliant leap forward" -Rolling Stone

"The best punk record you'll hear all year" -Magnet

The Ugly Organ made landfall on March 4, 2003, the same day as Evanescence's Fallen and roughly two weeks
before the start of the Iraq War. The darkest days of the Bush Era were settling in like a dense fog over the
entire country, and the outlook was bleak. That made The Ugly Organ especially potent, its gloomy inward
focus a natural re action of the era. The press accolades came quickly, from the mainstream (Rolling Stone
called it "a brilliant leap forward," and Entertainment Weekly said it "raised the Saddle Creek bar") to the niche
(The A.V. Club called it "a potent piece of rock art," Alternative Press gave it a perfect score).

With The Ugly Organ, Cursive made a landmark album for itself and Saddle Creek. It was the label's 51st release
and the second in what my colleague Marc Hawthorne called "Saddle Creek's holy trinity" in his liner notes for
The Faint's Danse Macabre reissue: Danse Macabre, The Ugly Organ, and Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake, It's
Morning. (I'd argue more for LIFTED or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground on that count, but I'll
save that for the next time I see Marc.)

Just prior to The Ugly Organ, Saddle Creek had released the celebratory compilation Saddle Creek 50, which
included Cursive's gleefully self-referential "Nonsense" ("I really don't want to write another 'I'm a dick' song
again"), which is included on this reissue. The label's 49th release had been another Cursive joint, the "Art is
Hard" single, which featured the explosive six-minute B-side "Sinner's Serenade," also included here. Rounding
it out are four songs from Cursive's split EP with Eastern Youth, 8 Teeth to Eat You-check out the ferocious
playing by cellist Gretta Cohn on "Excerpts from Various Notes Strewn Around the Bedroom of April Connolly,
Feb 24, 1997"-and two songs from the single for "The Recluse." It's an exhaustive-and exhausting-snapshot of a band realizing its power and wielding it for maximum impact.

And then Cursive was gone. Again. Taking another of its intermittent hiatuses. An unease has accompanied
every album after The Ugly Organ that it could be the last one-no, for real this time. Maybe because The Ugly
Organ capped an unprecedented productive streak, ending a three-record, three-year run with an album that
can't help but re ect the e ort that went into it. The exhaustion, the ambivalence, the doubt, it all bleeds out
of those 12 tracks. At the end of "Staying Alive," the "ghost chorus" referenced in the liner notes sings, "The
worst is over, Doo do Doo do Doo do Doo doo." On second thought, maybe it's neither hope nor resignation,
but simple relief. The storm has passed. And it was a motherfucker.

    Letting Off The Happiness

Ten songs written by Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), a boy from Nebraska, and performed/recorded with assistance from members of Cursive, Drip, Lullaby for the Working Class, Neutral Milk Hotel, of Montreal, Sorry About Dresden, and more. For those familiar with the work of Bright Eyes, this new record represents a big step forward in terms of fidelity, much in part to the guidance and assistance throughout the recordings by Lullaby's Mike Mogis. For those not familiar with the Bright Eyes sound, this album will serve as a perfect introduction to this chaotic bedroom pop.

    Mama, I'm Swollen

On 2009's Mama, I'm Swollen, Cursive's first studio album in nearly three years, the revered Omaha-based indie-rock act follows up the acclaimed Happy Hollow with another arresting outing. Mama, I'm Swollen expands on the full sound of Happy Hollow, setting up a wide sonic expanse that's fitting for a band from the open plains of Nebraska. As always, Cursive is a showcase for frontman Tim Kasher's emotive singing and fierce guitar playing, as best evinced on the dynamic From the Hips, which builds to a feverish crescendo. Deluxe LP is 180g colored vinyl and includes 16 page booklet, download card for bonus material and CD version.

    I Am Gemini

I Am Gemini is the surreal and powerful musical tale of Cassius and Pollock, twin brothers separated at birth. One good and one evil, their unexpected reunion in a house that is not a home ignites a classic struggle for the soul, played out with a cast of supporting characters that includes a chorus of angels and devils, and twin sisters conjoined at the head.

Recorded in the Summer/Fall of 2011 at Omaha, NEs ARC Studios and mixed at Red Room in Seattle, WA with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus The Bear, Isis), I Am Gemini marks the first time front man Tim Kasher, holding the completed story already in mind, wrote album lyrics in a linear fashion, in order, from start to finish. The result is thirteen singularly cohesive song chapters that blend effortlessly into one unique narrative. The moody and playfully sinister I Am Gemini is Cursives musically heaviest in years, with alternately muscular and angular guitars, pounding drums and driving bass.

From the eerie introductory sounds of epic barnstormer This House Alive and the irresistibly catchy, insistent The Sun and Moon, to the searing Double Dead and the split personality prog-pop of Twin Dragon/Hello Skeleton, to the roaring, mournful closing track Eulogy for No Name, the album is a dynamic, mind-bending, and imaginative ride.

Cursive is the longtime trio of Tim Kasher (vocals, guitar), Matt Maginn (bass), and Ted Stevens (guitar, vocals), with Patrick Newbery (keys) and Cully Symington (drums). I Am Gemini, the bands seventh LP, is the follow-up to 2009s critically praised Mama, Im Swollen.

    Danse Macabre Deluxe

Saddle Creek is set to reissue one of the crown jewels of the movement, an album that over time has proven to be as influential as it is exhilarating: The Faint's third album, 2001's Danse Macabre. It all seems like a natural progression now, but the release of Danse Macabre's predecessor, 1999's Blank-Wave Arcade, was a sea change for the Omaha group, showcasing a fondness for dance beats and dark keyboards while completely moving away from the indie-rock songs found on its debut, 1998's Media. Seeking a unique sound was becoming a regular occurrence in Omaha at the time, which led to a slew of phenomenal local releases, including Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Cursive's The Ugly Organ.

The 9-song Danse Macabre sizzled with perfectly aggressive synth lines, Todd Fink's menacingly effected vocals, infectious beats, bits of industrial and goth, and, at the heart of it all, strong songwriting featuring the kind of minor-key melodies that make singing along inevitable. To top it off, upstart engineer and producer Mike Mogis perfectly captured The Faint's sound and attitude despite never previously working on an electronic record.

The Danse Macabre reissue is being supported by a tour that will find The Faint performing the album in its entirety for the first time ever, along with entries from across the group's discography and some brand new material. It will also be the first time fans have been exposed to the new slim-and-trim quartet of vocalist Todd Fink, keyboardist Jacob Thiele, guitarist Dapose, and drummer Clark Baechle.

Deluxe Edition package includes: remastered 180 gram vinyl pressed at RTI in custom tip-on gatefold jacket; remastered 2CD-set of entire album and bonus material; DVD with archival footage from the band, live projection videos from the era's tour dates, the "Agenda Suicide" video directed by MK12; 12-page book; and new liner notes. For Madmen Only (On Sale)

    White Colored Vinyl

Waxwing features Rocky Votolato (vocals/guitar) and brother Cody Votolato on guitar (Blood Brothers). Seattle-based Waxwing's debut full length, For Madmen Only, is a beautifully involved album of contrasting emotions set against the musical contradictions of both lush acoustic movements and propulsive dramatic rock. Musically, For Madmen Only's nine tracks transverse myriad rock landscapes (be it traditional rock, indie, folk or Americana), but with a sullen, repentant quality that stains these tracks with a morose, languid atmosphere perfectly echoed in singer/guitarist Rocky Votolato's brooding vocals and lyrics. One of For Madmen Only's greatest strengths is Votolato's golden crooning, which serves as both focal point and background for Waxwing's music, slipping into the foreground and back again with ease, as it's required. Waxwing's lilting dynamics takes the music from tender acoustic folk to somnambulant indie rock to restrained melodies that build to emotional climaxes and rock spasms, but always with a faltering push-pull theme laced throughout For Madmen Only. Sharing its members with The Blood Brothers, Bugs In Amber, as well as Votolato's solo endeavors has done nothing to diminish Waxwing's dramatic focus, and For Madmen Only is an exquisite, effecting debut. Recorded by Matt Bayles (MINUS THE BEAR, The Sword, Botch, ISIS, Cursive, Make Do and Mend, Murder City Devils, Mastodon, Blood Brothers). WHITE vinyl limited to 500 copies. Burst And Bloom

    Colored Vinyl

Classic 2001 EP now available on vinyl for the first time in years courtesy of Saddle Creek Records! This 12" reissue is pressed on yellow, white, and black marbled vinyl, and is limited to 1500 copies.

Cursive's combination of melody and technical madness continues on Burst and Bloom, a five-song EP that not only reflects that familiar intensity, but also introduces us to a new aspect of the band and coincidentally a new member as well. Gretta Cohn is a welcome addition; adding her cello expertise to the songs of Burst and Bloom. The strings are an amazing complement to the frenetic intensity at the core of the band's sound. Ted Stevens, from Lullaby for the Working Class, continues to add his songwriting and vocal presence to the mix as well.

The EP starts out with Sink to the Beat, a self analytical song from the perspective of Cursive as a whole. Tim breaks down the marketing scheme of the EP and the DC sound of the band not long before they break into a mantra of Hit song, let it burst and bloom. This theme sets the mood for the EP, giving insight into where the band is coming from, and where they are headed.

    Record Store Day Split

To celebrate Record Store Day 2009, Cursive and Ladyfinger (ne) have paired up for a limited edition split 10 picture disc featuring one album track and one previously unreleased track from each band.Since Cursive burst onto the music scene with their 1997 debut album, the band has consistently and continually churned out heady albums heralded by critics and fans alike. Wrestling with life's miseries and mysteries, Mama, I'm Swollen is an album brimming with the universal, questioning the human condition, social morality, and the Peter Pan Syndrome of grown men.Dusk is Ladyfinger (ne) at the peak of their powers, with one foot in the sounds of early 70's classic rock and another in the punk and hardcore scenes of the late 80's and early 90's. Recorded once again with Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Minus the Bear, Isis), this is a more diverse and refined though no less intense collection of songs than their debut.

Dan McCarthy has spent the past five years playing/touring with Mayday, Neva Dinova, The Good Life, Orenda Fink, Maria Taylor, Bright Eyes, and others. He's also contributed to other bands' recordings such as Cursive's Happy Hollow and Tilly And The Wall's Bottoms Of Barrels. His self-titled album is a distillation of two collections of songs from Old Habits (2003's self-released nine song collection of drinking songs and waltzes) and 2005-2006's It's Got Nothing To Do With The Drinking, given to only a handful of friends and family before Team Love expressed interest in releasing a best of what you've put on tape so far.

    Adult Film

Tim Kasher seems to never rest. Since 1997, he has written and released 12 full-length albums both as a solo artist and with his bands Cursive and The Good Life, and has crisscrossed North America and Europe countless times on tour. His newest album, sophomore solo effort Adult Film, began coming together in late 2011, just shortly after Cursive finished recording their seventh LP I Am Gemini (Saddle Creek, 2012). Kasher continued to work on it over the next year before heading to Electrical Audio studio in his adopted hometown of Chicago, IL in spring 2013.

Adult Film is more thematically elastic than any other of his recent albums, and spans songs that reflect on matters such as aging and mortality, growing up and growing older, and how these things impact our relationships-including the way we interact with and view the life around us. Kasher is as lyrically incisive as ever: the album is packed
with thoughtful apprehensions, cleverly turned phrases, and reflections on himself and the world at large, all run through his distinctive filter of dry wit and frequent self-deprecation.

Musically, the new album plays down the orchestral element of his lush debut solo album The Game Of Monogamy (Saddle Creek, 2010) and offers a more direct, yet no less affecting, blend of rock and pop. Kasher is aided throughout by Sara Bertuldo (bass, vocals), Patrick Newbery (organ, keys, synths, horns), and Dylan Ryan (drums) - who backed him while touring around Monogamy-as well as Nate Kinsella (drums; of Make Believe and Birthmark); Laura Stevenson (vocals; of Laura Stevenson and the Cans); Matt Focht (drums; of Head Of Femur); Jenna Morrison (vocals; of Conduits); Laura Carrozza (flute; of Aficionado); and Sarah Holtschlag (saw). Adult Film was mixed by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Wye Oak, Explosions In The Sky) at Elmwood Recording in Dallas, TX.

Kasher has become known throughout his career for insightful, literate, and candid songwriting, and his solo work and albums with Cursive and The Good Life have been praised by Rolling Stone, Esquire, The New York Times, Alternative Press, SPIN, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, The A.V. Club, and Vice, among many others.

Chants is the debut album by Seattle multi-instrumentalist / singer Nouela. Born to Norwegian & Korean parents, Nouela spent the first her first 11 years living in Korea and learning to love what her parents played - Beach Boys, Pet Shop Boys, Beatles, Kraftwerk, Monk, Mingus. Nouela spent her teens and early twenties fronting bands (Mon Frere, People Eating People) and recording & touring with other Seattle Bands (The Fall Of Troy, Say Hi, Schoolyard Heroes, Cursive). After working w/ some amazing musicians & producers Nouela decided to change things up and play most everything on Chants.

    Aficionado

Upon their inception in 2004, Aficionado began touring and self-releasing demos, but for the most part, flew under the radar until signing with No Sleep Records early last Summer. In the Fall of 2010, they brought the world their first official release, When It Comes to Creation. It included an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink instrumental approach, spliced with their clever nooks and crannies of lyrical and melodic goodness, complete with a loud and raw us-against-the world execution.

While continuing to evolve artistically and push the envelope of their sound, Aficionados upcoming self-titled full length is a cohesive listen from beginning to end, showing that the album format is still alive and well. With ten songs produced and recorded with AJ Mogis (Bright Eyes, M. Ward, Cursive), the songs are sharp and more compact with less of an emphasis on wowing people with over the top antics and more of a focus on the songs themselves. The lyrical basis is centered on expositions of thinking for yourself, attaining what it takes to be a charismatic person, heeding to the realities of aging, and acceptance of change. Drawing from a range of influences such as Cursive, The Hold Steady, Sunny Day Real Estate and At the Drive In, Aficionado incorporates the sweet honey coated coo of Laura Carrozza which tinges the melodies and a harmonious male/female vocal styling alongside singer Nick Warchol.

Whereas other artists tend to spout off elaborate yarns to detail a complex process of their songwriting origins and album creations, Aficionado have created an opus based on the basic concept of pure camaraderie and solidarity amongst good friends, with the aim of simply making good music.
