    Crosby, Stills and Nash

Ranked 259/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

One of the most enduring musical partnerships of our time, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) are revered for their peerless vocal harmonies, inspired songwriting and musical virtuosity. When the trio first sang together at a friends Laurel Canyon house in 1968, their uncanny harmonic convergence was immediately apparent, and CSN took shape. Each member came to the new venture from other high-profile bands, Crosby from the Byrds, Stills from Buffalo Springfield and Nash from the Hollies, and together they formed that rarest of musical entities, a supergroup that lived up to its billing.

CSNs stunning 1969 self-titled debut album is one of the true masterpieces of the rock n roll canon. The album made it all the way to #6 on the Billboard charts and delivered two Top 40 Pop singles with Marrakesh Express and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. Also features the CSN classics Guinnevere, Wooden Ships, Helplessly Hoping and Long Time Gone.

Crosby, Stills & Nash are a most important part of the brilliant history at Atlantic Records. The uniqueness of their vocal blend, as well as the uniqueness of each solo voice, made them the top vocal group in the world, and they are still today thrilling millions of fans they have accumulated over the years. Stephen Stills

With his 1970 self-titled solo debut, Stephen Stills, like his CSN&Y bandmates, decided to explore other musical avenues. Stills offers up his trademark Southern California folk-pop sound here while incorporating the Latin, swamp and blues influences that were just beginning to emerge in his songwriting. The London session allowed Stills to finally team up with Eric Clapton on the track Go Back Home and Jimi Hendrix, who died prior to the album's release, is notably featured on the track Old Times, Good Times. Other collaborators include John Sebastian, Rita Coolidge, David Crosby, Graham Nash and Cass Elliot. Features two of Stills' biggest hits with Love the One You're With and Sit Yourself Down.

Just Roll Tape: April 26, 1968

Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Kevin Grey at Acoustech and Pressed on 180g RTI Vinyl! True Audiophile-Quality!

A moment in rock & roll history, unearthed! In April of 1968, after leaving Buffalo Springfield, but before joining CSN, Stephen Stills found himself in a New York recording session with then girlfriend Judy Collins. Stills wandered down the hall with an engineer and an acoustic guitar, and laying down a couple hundred-dollar bills, told the engineer Just roll tape. What he recorded in the ensuing hours was the first ever versions of what would become classics for Stephen Stills, CSN, CSNY and Manassas. Almost 40 years later the tapes, rescued decades ago from a garbage bin, are finally remastered and being released to the public. Includes the first recordings of the future CSN hits Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Helplessly Hoping and Wooden Ships, as well as demos of Stills' solo classics Change Partners, Black Queen, and Know You Got To Run, and Manassas So Begins The Task.

    Crosby Stills and Nash: Demos

12-Song Collection of Previously Unreleased Demos from 1968 to 1971 Offers a Behind-The-Scenes Glimpse at the Earliest Days of One of Rocks Most Legendary Partnerships!

After four decades as three together, the creative partnership of David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash is one of the most enduring and influential in contemporary music. This compilation of previously unreleased material takes an unprecedented look at the earliest days of their collaboration with 12 demos from 1968 to 1971 of destined-to-be-classic songs that would later be featured on CSNs studio albums and solo titles. While a number of demos feature members performing solo (and one finds them joined by Neil Young), the set opens with the trio harmonizing on Marrakesh Express, recorded four months before their self-titled debut LP was released in 1969. Other rarities include seminal takes on Almost Cut My Hair, Chicago, Long Time Gone, Love The One Youre With and DÉjà Vu.

The collection, produced by Graham Nash and Joel Bernstein, reaches as far back as 68 with Stills My Love Is A Gentle Thing, and also features his solo classic Love The One Youre With. Highlights include CSN harmonizing on a January 69 take on Marrakesh Express, Crosby and Stills on Long Time Gone, and Crosby and Nash joined by Neil Young on Music Is Love (a song later featured on Crosbys solo debut If I Could Only Remember My Name). Among the other highlights are three songs that would appear on Nashs solo debut, 1971s Songs For Beginners, including Chicago and Sleep Song, and Crosby performing unaccompanied on Almost Cut My Hair and DÉjà Vu.

On some of these songs you really hear us becoming a band, trying out different ideas in our songwriting and singing and harmonies. It really is a time capsule. Graham Nash

    Red Octopus

Mastered by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at RTI from the Original RCA/Grunt Records Tapes

When Jefferson Airplane morphed successfully into Jefferson Starship in the mid-'70s, their musicianship, and recorded output was enthusiastically received and was a very important career move in the continuing story of these Bay Area superstars.

Red Octopus surely helped award them fame even further as this amazing Jefferson Starship LP went to #1 and soon became one of the many platinum plus ventures for this much loved and respected band. Their new formula worked tremendously as this watershed release featured a plethora of chart topping hits like Miracles, Play On Love, Fast Buck Freddie and There Will Be Love.

The band was rich with rock and roll history, consisting of Airplane mainstays Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, plus later Airplane alumnus David Freiberg (Quicksilver), Papa John Creach, and Johnny Barbata (CSN+Y, Turtles), as well as new additions Craig Chaquico and Pete Sears. Jefferson Starship truly delivered the goods with Red Octopus as this album went on to quickly become a classic rock masterpiece!

Friday Music is no stranger to releasing some of the greatest music ever recorded by Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, Starship and Hot Tuna, so it is with much honor they have announced the release of the masterwork Red Octopus on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl. This limited edition masterpiece has been impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at RTI from the original RCA/ Grunt Records tapes.

In honor of their continuing 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl series on the Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship franchise, Friday Music is also issuing this wonderful album with a very limited gatefold cover, which includes the original artwork elements, plus the lyrics and photos as you remember them from the original 1975 release. As usual, you will also get a poly sleeve to protect your vinyl investment, as well as a poly bag to protect the stunning album cover.

    This Path Tonight

This Path Tonight is the new studio album and collection of 10 songs from Graham Nash. Produced by Shane Fontayne, this is Nash's first solo record of new music in fourteen years. The title track, "This Path Tonight," is the debut single. Like the album, the song is one of reflection and transition of a singer-songwriter whose career (the Hollies, CSN, CSNY) has spanned more than five decades and counting. Graham Nash is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter Hall of Fame Inductee, GRAMMY ™ Award winner, and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)

    It's Time (Out Of Stock)

Jimmy D. Lane's guitar playing will knock you over. His control of his guitar, from the most delicate tonal nuances to the flashiest, fastest licks, is almost superhuman. Only the most masterful guitar players can command their instruments this way, and all the practice in the world can't develop it. Jimmy D. Lane is a natural-born guitar monster. - Bob Margolin, guitarist in the Muddy Waters Band for seven years

It's Time could just as well have been titled It's Overdue. It's long been time for one of today's most powerful and expressive musicians to break the chains of relative commercial obscurity. Time to seize the reins of blues leadership, just as his father, Jimmy Rogers, did in the 1940s. Masters Eddie Kramer (engineer for Hendrix, Zeppelin, Woodstock etc.), Chris Whipper Layton and Tommy Shannon (of Double Trouble) and Mike Finnigan (organ in the bands of Etta James, Taj Mahal and CSN&Y) are all onboard to give Jimmy the nudge he needs to clear the launching pad. It's Time.

Just wanted to let you know how much Frank and I are enjoying Jimmy D. Lane's new CD - It's Time. It is truly wonderful! We are looking forward to experiencing the Blues Masters concert in Oct. Take care and thanks so much for such a hauntingly awesome CD. Please convey to him that we are hoping not to wear out the CD we enjoy it so much. - Peggy Ulasek, Maryland

Lane's certainly got the goods. The guitarist and singer - he plays bass and drums, too, on a pair of tracks - wrote all but one of the disc's 12 songs. And he's got a knack for mixing Hendrix- and Vaughan-influenced contemporary blues with old-school roots learned from his father...what makes It's Time a fun listen is its textural variety...Kramer's production offers a bright, modern sound that still has the warm feel of live performance. He and Lane keep the set tightly focused...For Jimmy D. Lane, now's as good a time as any. - Michael Cote, Blues Revue, February/March 2005
