By the time Cream formed in 1966, Eric Clapton was already fairly well known, having already performed and recorded with the Yardbirds and John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. However, it was in Cream that Clapton became a global superstar. Breaking free of the traditional rock & roll song structure for a more improvisational / jazz influenced take, the bands long jams gave birth to a whole new approach to rock music. When their debut album Fresh Cream was released in 1966 it immediately became the standard by which all other bands of the era were judged.

    Disraeli Gears (Awaiting Repress)

Featuring two of Cream's best-known songs, 'Strange Brew' and 'Sunshine Of Your Love', according to Q magazine, the second album from the original super-group of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker "was a huge, Top 5 success on both sides of the Atlantic, transforming the shape of rock music, which still draws deeply on its power-trio innovations". Moving away from their blues roots to a more psychedelic sound typical of the times, Mojo magazine reckoned, "with its perfect Martin Sharp sleeve and disciplined performances, Disraeli Gears was always Cream's best record. It remains so." Sharp also contributed lyrics to one of the album's other classics, 'Tales Of Brave Ulysses'. Recorded in New York, 'Disraeli Gears' was Cream's breakthrough in America, cementing their superstar status.

Iconic Classic Rock heroes Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker teamed up in 2005 for a short string of Cream reunion shows in the UK's nest concert hall, Royal Albert Hall. After their late '60s split, the band had not been playing together, except for a one-off 1993 gig at their induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Cream had not only remained a legendary band, but at the time it seemed extremely unlikely that they would ever play live again. Therefore these live recordings are a heaven's send to Rock fans all over the world, those who are eager to hear these monsters of Rock back in action. And many fans and critics agreed that the band sounded better than before. A worthy coda to their brief but impactful career.

Fresh Cream is the first album by Cream, released in 1966. Laid down at the height of the UK blues boom, Fresh Cream covers the kind of territory you might expect from three of the most respected players on the scene at the time. With Clapton fresh just from his time with John Mayall, Ginger Baker leaving behind the R'n'B backwaters of Graham Bond Organisation, and a woefully under-employed Jack Bruce hightailing it from the increasingly pop-leaning Manfred Mann, the electric blues was their natural turf.

Highlights include the racing harmonica work-out, and the call and response excitements on Muddy Waters' "Rollin' and Tumblin'", a spine-tingled vocal on the Willie Dixon classic, "Spoonful", as well as the self-penned "Sleepy Time Time" which gives Clapton a free hand to wake up all and sundry. The traditional standard, Cat's Squirrel is given a rousing treatment, showing how well these players meshed.

    The Best Of Mountain

The Mountain 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series Continues On Friday Music!

The Legendary Greatest Hits ..First Time On Audiophile Vinyl!

Mastered Impeccably By Joe Reagoso At Friday Music Studios.

    Manufactured By R.T.I.

In 1973, the good folks at Windfall and Columbia Records compiled
an amazing overview of Mountain's most memorable and fan driven
favorites simply titled The Best Of Mountain. This collection featured the
brilliant lead vocals and dangerous guitar work of Leslie West, the sorely
missed bass guitar, lead vocals and production of Felix Pappalardi (Cream),
the driving keyboards of Steve Knight and the heavy metal drums of Corky
    Laing.

This mammoth collection had something for every one of its devoted
fans as it culled tracks not only from the band's output on Windfall like their
earth shattering smashes Mississippi Queen and Nantucket Sleighride, but
it also included the rare LP edit version of Roll Over Beethoven. Therefore,
a good majority of the hits and definitive Mountain tracks are included on
this career overview of songs which will forever stand the test of heavy metal
    time.

Their most familiar songs from Climbing!, Flowers Of Evil and
Nantucket Sleighride are featured with hard rockers like Never In My Life,
Don't Look Around and Crossroader. Plus even more Mountain classics are
included like Tanuta, The Animal Trainer And The Toad and The Boys In The
    Band.

The hard rocking progressive sound of Mountain is also highlighted
with massive hits like their definitive interpretation of Jack Bruce & Pete
Brown's Theme For An Imaginary Western and their stellar tribute to the
Woodstock nation with the legendary For Yasgur's Farm.

The music of Mountain has made them one of the most loved bands
of all time. Even to this day, their concerts are important events worldwide,
their albums and songs are of legendary proportion, and the undying energy
between each of its individual members is second to no one.

Friday Music is honored once again to announce another installment
to our beloved Mountain/Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series
with the first time HQ vinyl release of The Best Of Mountain. This audiophile
event is mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso and features all of the original
Windfall Records versions of their finest recordings ever.

For this special 40th Anniversary limited edition release, we are also
including for the first time in four decades, the original alternate front cover
LP gatefold artwork not seen in years, which will truly enhance your hours
of listening enjoyment. And as always, we include a protective vinyl sleeve
for the fine album cover and poly-lined sleeve for the audiophile vinyl disc to
help keep your musical investment in mint shape.

Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the group's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. As Led Zeppelin proves, the group was capable of such multi-layered music from the start. Although the extended psychedelic blues of Dazed and Confused, You Shook Me, and I Can't Quit You Baby often gather the most attention, the remainder of the album is a better indication of what would come later. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You shifts from folky verses to pummeling choruses; Good Times Bad Times and How Many More Times have groovy, bluesy shuffles; Your Time Is Gonna Come is an anthemic hard rocker; Black Mountain Side is pure English folk; and Communication Breakdown is a frenzied rocker with a nearly punkish attack. Although the album isn't as varied as some of their later efforts, it nevertheless marked a significant turning point in the evolution of hard rock and heavy metal.

    Cream

Cream was the second single to be released from Prince's 13th album Diamonds And Pearls (the first album to be credited to Prince and the New Power Generation), and was released three weeks prior to the album. It was the second single to be credited to Prince and the New Power Generation.

The b-side of the 7 and cassette single was Horny Pony, which was oddly also the b-side of the previous single Gett Off.

The single became Prince's fifth US number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, following When Doves Cry, Let's Go Crazy, Kiss (all attributed to Prince and the Revolution) and Batdance. The single did not enter the Billboard Hot R&B Singles Chart, however.
Cream was certified gold by the RIAA on 16 January 1992, indicating 500,000 copies shipped in the US. The single was also certified platinum (70,000 units sold) in Australia in March 1992.
