    The Essential Going Back

    Remastered by Nick Davis

I decided to call this version of 'Going Back' 'The Essential Going Back,' Phil explained. In retrospect, I included too much music on the original version, and I believe that too much is not always a good thing. Hence this trimmed down selection of my favorite Motown songs.

Originally released in 2010, Going Back was Phil Collins' first studio album since 2002 and saw him back at #1 on the charts. This album was a personal labor of love project that found him faithfully recreating the soul gems that played such an influential role in his musical life.

This is one of the last releases in Collins' Take A Look At Me Now series. Each album in the series has been remastered by Grammy-nominated Nick Davis. Each album features a bold artwork concept in which Collins has recreated his poses from the original album covers with new photography that was shot in the present day.

This will be released as 180 gram heavyweight audiophile vinyl of the remastered album.

Take A Look At Me Now: Collector's Edition (Box Set)

Phil Collins Take A Look At Me Now Retrospective Reissue Campaign release

Entirely curated and compiled by Collins himself, this idea for the Take A Look At Me Now concept is to examine how his songs have evolved over time, with the majority of the additional content throughout the series focused on live versions of the tracks. By contrasting the original studio versions of the material with later performances, the series demonstrates how Collins' songs take on a life of their own once they're freed from the confines of the studio. Vinyl boxed which compiles 180gm vinyl editions of both Face Value and Both Sides together.

His Groundbreaking, Earth Shattering Debut, Early 60's Texas Blues Masterpiece!

First Time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Presentation • Anniversary Edition

Texan Albert Collins was absolutely one of the most prolific and rhythmic pioneers on the American blues scene
ever. Recording his first 45's in the early sixties and rapidly becoming one of the most in demand bluesmen of his
time, Collins was truly an American legend on the worldwide blues circuit.

While recording a plethora of singles on cool blues labels like Kangaroo, Tracie and Hall-Way from 1962 to 1965,
TCF Records released Albert's first album The Cool Sounds Of Albert Collins a/k/a Truckin' With Albert Collins from a
bunch of these wonderful single sessions. The album quickly faded into obscurity until a chance meeting with Canned
Heat. The band convinced the man to make a move to California and the rest is rock and blues history.

Upon his arrival on the L.A. rock and blues market, he soon became one of the country's leading blues guitarist
with a ton of devotees like his fans Canned Heat, John Mayall, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Robert Cray whom were all
diggin' what the bluesman was laying down.

Blue Thumb Records soon re-released his stunning first album Truckin' With Albert Collins, and now thousands
of blues fans the world over were soon discovering the classic early sixties album which boasted his hit blues singles
like Frosty, Tremble and Frost Bite.

The dozen gems that make up this jumping blues event would go on to become some of his most famous tunes
including Frosty which was covered by numerous rock and blues artists over the years, plus even more terrific blues
rockers like of Sno-Cone II, Icy Blue and the rockin' Don't Lose Your Cool.

Friday Music is no stranger to the best in blues music, and it is with much honor to announce the first time 180
Gram Audiophile Vinyl Anniversary release of Albert Collins' debut masterpiece Truckin' With Albert Collins.

Impeccably mastered by Joe "Bluesman" Reagoso (John Lee Hooker/Canned Heat/Johnny Winter) from the
original Blue Thumb Records tapes, Albert Collins' classic Truckin' With Albert Collins will truly be one of the most
anticipated blues releases of this holiday season.

    Hello, I Must Be Going

Initially released in 1982, Collins' second album Hello, I Must Be Going! focused on a more organically produced sound than his debut, with lyrics on tracks such as I Don't Care Anymore and Thru These Walls providing a darker thematic core. By contrast, the album's biggest hit was Collins' upbeat interpretation of The Supremes' You Can't Hurry Love, which became his first solo #1 single. Hello, I Must Be Going! itself peaked at #2, and Collins would soon earn his first Grammy® and Brit Award nominations.

    Think (about it)

At the time of the release of Think (About It) in 1972, Lyn Collins had been a member of James Brown's performing revue for about two years. Her full-throated voice had earned her the nickname the Female Preacher and a shot to record her own album. Of course, the Godfather was in the producer's chair, writing four of the nine tracks, directing the J.B.'s as they laid down their usual funky grooves, and liberally adding vocals throughout. The title track is the main point of interest here; from Collins' throat-ripping vocals to the track's nasty groove to Brown's background interjections, this is a killer. Just Won't Do Right is a good doo wop-ish ballad with some churchy organ and great vocals by Collins and Brown, Wheels of Life is a nice little groover that sounds like vintage Aretha Franklin, and Women's Lib is a very slow ballad that lets Collins show off her anguished yowl of a vocal to its fullest. -- Allmusic

    Stick And Poke

Before you ask - the answer is yes. a. Tom Collins is the great-great-grandson of Tom Collins, creator of the eponymous gin cocktail. Other notable relations, near and distant, include British monarch Anne Boleyn, second-man-on-the-moon Buzz Aldrin, fictional detective Hercule Poirot, and saxophonist Clarence Clemons. But here we are, in the present moment, the only time that actually exists - according to Zen Buddhism (and The Stooges) - and a. Tom Collins walks among us; taking note of the wilderness of horrors and occasional blips of joy that are this waking Life - and turning them into boozy, moody, stomp-and-wrangle-worthy anthems of the Now Times. With inexhaustible insight and a smoky voice, Collins slithers, smooths and seduces his notes into your skull and soul; lilting and tilting the moments between awareness and suffering; the hot potato game of tragic flaws; leaning on and propping up love, alternately. When not hammering at a piano and caterwauling the damnable Truth with his amazing band, a. Tom Collins enjoys raising rare and endangered cacti (and select other succulents) in his sprawling conservatory, non-competitive baton-fighting, and sitting alone in a darkened room smoking bidis and watching 16mm loops of WWI newsreels.

    Think (About It)

Bundled With A 22"x 22" Poster Of The Cover Art & Bonus 7"

James Brown had several incredibly talented "funky divas" in his late '60s and early '70s stable, including Vicki Anderson and Marva Whitney. But as great as those two powerhouse singers were, Lyn Collins was the strongest hit maker of that funky JB era.

Her strong voice and commanding stage presence - which earned her the nicknames "The Female Preacher" and "Mama Feelgood" - quickly proved to be a potent addition to the People Records universe. In the spring of 1972 her second single, the driving and ridiculously funky "Think (About It)" hit the R & B music world like a ton of bricks. As fans young and old know, thanks to its
timeless, relentless groove and powerful vocals, "Think" gained a powerful second life in the 1980s thanks to the hip-hop generation, fueling the platinum
smash "It Takes Two," by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock in 1988 and additionally sampled by dozens of hip-hop and dance music artists up to the present day.

But Collins was far from a One Hit Wonder: she was as vocally adept on ballads as she was with full-blown funk. She proves this throughout her debut album, which was released in 1972 on James Brown's new People Records label - the imprint's second full-length release. To wit, aside from the title smash: a powerful and emotional cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine"; the socially progressive "Women's Lib"; the Gamble & Huff-penned "Never Gonna Give You Up" (originally done by Jerry Butler); and even a daring, muscular take on the song "Fly Me To The Moon," made famous by, among others, Frank Sinatra.

All throughout Think (About It), Collins shows that she was a vocal force to be reckoned with. Backed by a James Brown-assembled musical crew that included Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and, of course, James Brown himself, the platter was bound to impress and succeed. And that it did. Included in this special Get On Down deluxe package is a 22" x 22" poster of the album cover, and a bonus 7-inch of Collins' 1973 People single, "We Want To Parrty, Parrty, Parrty" with the B Side "You Can't Beat Two People In Love" which is unavailable on any Lyn Collins full-length.

    Check Me Out

A sterling effort from one of James Brown's most talented finds. Wearing the producer's hat, Brown showcases the Female Preacher on songs and styles from standards to funk to Southern and Philly soul. On the funk tip you have Rock Me Again & Again & Again & Again and How Long Can I Keep It Up. Collins injects soul and sweat into the standards A Foggy Day and Try a Little Tenderness; shows her southern roots on Put It on the Line; and pays homage to the sound of Philadelphia on a quality remake of Back Stabbers and a dramatic five-minute-plus rendition of If You Don't Know Me by Now.

    Feel The Noise

Yeah, it's a concept man. Rock n' roll... remember that? Well I do, like it was yesterday. Standing on the corner of Hollywood & Vine in LA or on Columbus & Broadway in front of Aquarius Records in North Beach San Francisco circa 1975... Thinking that all I wanted to do is rock out, so sick of everything I was hearing on the radio, all those bands seemed to suck to me, I couldn't understand what happened to the real rock n roll that I grew up on. Where did it go ? Where were the balls? Where were the guts? Where were the songs that blew my mind, the guitar licks, the harmonies... what happened? For too many years after that all I heard was the same old thing... "rock n roll is dead". Every time I heard it, it made me mad, it made me think... yeah... FUCK YOU! Then I heard the Ramones, and things got better for a while, and then it got bad again. Then I heard Nirvana and things got better again for a while, then they got bad again, but at that point I didn't really care anymore because I knew that Rock N Roll was never gonna die... you know why? Because there will always be a new generation of kids who will dig this shit as much as I do... Feel The Noise! Remember kids, the future is in your hands! Keep on Rocking!

It was the first collection of Sibelius' complete symphonies, performed by one orchestra & conductor. 150 years after the birth of Jean Sibelius and 60 years after the completion of this pioneering project, Decca proudly presents these recordings in a 6LP set for the very first time.

    Testify

    Remastered by Nick Davis

Perhaps his most low-key and reflective work, as demonstrated with This Love This Heart and You Touch My Heart, Testify moves confidently into other territory with the escalating beats and rhythms of Driving Me Crazy and the gospel-tinged title track. The album's lead single, an interpretation of Leo Sayer's I Can't Stop Loving You demonstrated Collins' continuing ability to create hits, as it topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.

    Dance Into The Light

1996's Dance Into The Light presented a flavor of the unexpected as elements of world music came to the fore, most notably with flourishes of Afrobeat-styled percussion on several tracks. Both the album and its title track reached the Top 10 upon release. It concludes with a new take on Bob Dylan's The Times They Are A-Changin'.

    Adieu To Old England

Shirley Collin's 1974 album Adieu To Old England finds the influential British folksinger interpreting a 15-song set of traditional English folk songs arranged by her sister Dolly Collins. Akin to its title, Collins offers up a literal history lesson here admirably paying homage to her heritage on such classic numbers as Coronation Jig, Portsmouth and The Ram of Derbish Town, among others. Re-released on 180g vinyl by 6 Spices Records.

Just Won't Do Right is a good doo wop-ish ballad with some churchy organ and great vocals by Collins and Brown, Wheels of Life is a nice little groove that sounds like vintage Aretha Franklin, and Women's Lib is a very slow ballad that lets Collins show off her anguished yowl of a vocal to its fullest.--Allmusic
