Heaven TonightHeaven Tonight is considered Cheap Trick's best album by many fans and critics. While their debut album Cheap Trick showed the band's darker, rawer side and In Color explored a lighter, more pop-oriented persona, Heaven Tonight combined both elements to produce a hook-filled pop-rock album with an attitude. Popular songs from this album include the anthemic Surrender, Auf Wiedersehen, the title track, and a cover of The Move's California Man.1. Surrender

We're All Alright! (Deluxe)Cheap Trick has announced the release of a new album, We're All Alright. Named in tribute to the band's 1978 hit Surrender, the album is the follow-up to last year's Bang, Zoom, Crazy... Hello, voted the 12th best album of last year by Classic Rock.
The band has also released a new song, Long Time Coming. Its riff bears more than a passing resemblance to The Kinks' classic All Day And All Of The Night, and it features the kind of keyboard motif that underpinned so many of the band's classic hits. It's our interpretation of Slade and MC5 and AC/DC and Aerosmith, Rick Nielson tells Billboard, but they're not steals. It's just, like, all the bands we like.
Y'know, we always write, but it's more fun to write for a project and write for a reason, he says. We have a company (Big Machine Records) that believes in us and they like the work and they're letting us make more records, which is cool. Making records is one of the ambitions we've always had. I don't think the desire has ever gone away.
We're All Alright was co-produced by the band Julian Raymond, and will be available in Standard and Deluxe Editions. The latter including three additional bonus tracks, among them a cover of The Move's 1968 hit Blackberry Way.

RideFor his fiftieth birthday, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian wanted one present more than any other - the reunion of one of his favorite unsung heroes, Mother Superior - only he wanted to be a part of the lineup. They're a great, classic band that hit me in the same spot as all my favorite '70s bands, whether it's UFO, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick or KISS, Ian explains. I knew getting to play with them would be like joining KISS.
Thanks to Scott's wife Pearl Aday, who has been working with Mother Superior front man Jim Wilson for years, all it took was a quick phone call and the stage was literally set for Scott's dream gig.
The band, which quickly gained the interests of Joey Vera (Armored Saint/Fates Warning) and John Tempesta (White Zombie, The Cult) called itself Motor Sister after the Mother Superior song Little Motor Sister and got together the day before the party to rehearse in Ian's jam room. The energy in the room was amazing, Ian says. It felt awesome. It was just something we did for fun and to celebrate my birthday.
The minute I started to play with Scott, Joey and John the chemistry was amazing, Wilson says. We sounded like a band that had been together forever. Enthralled at the idea of making a record of his favorite Mother Superior songs, Ian contacted producer Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther, Stone Sour) and asked if he thought it was possible to recapture the same spontaneous energy generated at their makeshift gig. He said, 'Yeah, we can make the record in two days and we can make it sound really good.' So that's what we did, Ian says. A week and a half later, we made the record in LA over a two day period. We recorded the whole thing live in the studio.
While everyone in Motor Sister is busy with their day jobs, they are all interested in playing live as much as possible. We are a great live band Ian says. We proved it to ourselves in my jam room. It was our ability to play live together that made this happen and I can see us getting onstage and playing this shit back-to-back, Ramones-style, and just blowing people's minds with the power of these songs. And the door is always open to write more material because Pearl and Jim are always working together and I'm always with them. So we'll see what happens in the future.LP 1

Sound City: Real To ReelLimited Collector's Edition 180 Gram Vinyl
All-New Original Album of Music Created Exclusively for the Documentary
Deep in the San Fernando Valley, behind the train tracks and amidst dilapidated warehouses, was rock n' roll's best kept secret. Sound City, America's greatest unsung recording studio, housed a legendary, one-of-a-kind recording console, and became the birth place to the seminal albums that defined 20th century music. Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Rick Springfield, Tom Petty, Nirvana, amongst many others, all put magic to tape within these walls. It was rock n' roll hallowed ground. Directed by Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and featuring interviews and performances by the iconic musicians who made their careers in the studio, Sound City tells the story of real rock n' roll history, and celebrates the human element of music, as Grohl gathers some of rock's greatest artists to collaborate on a new album. Using Sound City's legendary analog console, together they continue to create musical miracles in a digital world.
Sound City - Real To Real, the companion album to the documentary is released on Roswell
Records, in conjunction with the film's DVD and Blu-Ray releases. A brand new collection of all-new all-original songs, each song featured on the album was composed and recorded exclusively for the film within its own 24-hour session. The new tracks - featuring an amazing and idiosyncratic cast of collaborators including Paul McCartney, Grohl's former Nirvana and current Foo Fighters bandmates, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Trent Reznor, Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Lee Ving of Fear, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford of Rage Against The Machine and more--passionately exemplify Sound City's celebration of the human element of musicianship and recording in an increasingly digital world.1. Bang Zoom Crazy... HelloCheap Trick is part of the very fiber of American music, inspiring and delighting generations with their unique union of massive melodies and razorblade riffs, their own special brand of mischievous wit and maximum rock 'n' roll. Frontlined since 1974 by Robin Zander (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar), and Tom Petersson (bass guitar), the Rockford, IL-born band is set to impact still another era with the spectacular new BANG ZOOM CRAZY HELLO, their 17th studio collection and first in more than five years.
Co-produced by Cheap Trick and GRAMMY® Award winner Julian Raymond (Glen Campbell, Fastball), songs like "Heart On The Line" and the turbulent first single, "When I Wake Up Tomorrow," are deeply connected to the band's own irrepressible history just as they accelerate their trademark sound and vision into the now. The glorious "Long Time No See Ya" marks another in a long line of salutations spanning "ELO Kiddies" and "Hello There" to "Goodnight" and "Say Goodbye," while the piledriving "Do You Believe Me" showcases dueling solos from Nielsen and six-string icon Wayne Kramer - a milestone meeting of the long established Midwestern mutual appreciation society between Cheap Trick and the mighty MC5. BANG ZOOM CRAZY HELLO prove Cheap Trick to be as energetic and idiosyncratically irresistible as ever before, a callback to their classic canon yet somehow as inventive and exciting as a bunch of crazy kids just coming out of the garage.1. Cheap Trick (Speakers Corner)
Cheap Trick proved to a thrilled audience that a band in the late seventies could stay in the limelight over many years without having to reinvent rock 'n' roll. Any band that wanted to survive as an opening act for such top bands as Queen, Kiss and Boston simply had to be either courageous, naive or give a really good show. That Cheap Trick brought their audience to boiling point in a suspiciously similar fashion to such groups as the Beatles, Hollies and Bee Gees, can now be relived by listening to their present debut album. The boys from Illinois realized that a special magic lay in their early numbers and perform here the very best titles from their earlier live acts, which are just as good in these days as in the past. They really get down to business with their »playful, perverse lyrics« (Crawdaddy), which deal with anything from delicate to precarious issues (Daddy Should Have Stayed In High School and He's A Whore). »Cheap Trick is not important for their great innovative qualities but for their considerable entertainment value«, wrote the critical music magazine Melody Maker. Old and new rock fans will revel in this album.

About Speakers Corner
At the beginning of the 90s, in the early days of audiophile vinyl re-releases, the situation was fairly straightforward. Companies such as DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Classic Records and, of course, Speakers Corner all maintained a mutual, unwritten ethical code: we would only use analogue tapes to manufacture records.
During the course of the present vinyl hype, many others have jumped on the bandwagon in the hope of securing a corner of the market. Very often they are not so ethical and use every imaginable source to master from: CDs, LPs, digital files, MP3s - or employed existant tools from the 80s and 90s for manufacturing.
A digital delay is gladly used when cutting a lacquer disc because tape machines with an analogue delay have become quite rare and are therefore expensive. When cutting the lacquer, the audio signal is delayed by one LP revolution against the signal, which controls the cutter head, and for this a digital delay is very often employed. Of course, the resultant sound signal is completely digital and thus only as good as this delay.
We should like to emphasise that Speakers Corner Records on principle only uses the original master tape as the basis for the entirely analogue cutting of lacquer discs. In addition, the pressing tool is newly manufactured as a matter of principle. We have one digital recording in our catalogue (Alan Parsons / Eye In The Sky"), but even in this particular case we used the analogue tapes for cutting.
We only employ existing tools for manufacturing if an improved result is not forthcoming, e.g. the title Elvis Is Back, which was mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray, or several titles from our Philips Classics series, which in any case Willem Makkee cut from the original masters at the Emil Berliner Studios in the 90s. It goes without saying that we only used the mother and that new tools were made for our production.
To put it in a nutshell: we can ensure you that our releases are free from any kind of digital effects - excluding the exception above - and that the lacquer discs are newly cut.1. Hot Love

Cheap TrickCheap Trick's eponymous debut is an explosive fusion of Beatlesque melodic hooks, Who-styled power, and a twisted sense of humor partially borrowed from the Move. But that only begins to scratch the surface of what makes Cheap Trick a dynamic record. Guitarist Rick Nielsen has a powerful sense of dynamics and arrangements, which gives the music an extra kick, but he also can write exceptionally melodic and subversive songs. Nothing on Cheap Trick is quite what it seems. While the songs have hooks and attitude that arena rock was sorely lacking in the late '70s, they are also informed by a bizarre sensibility, whether it's the driving He's a Whore, the dreamy Mandocello, or the thumping Gary Glitter perversion ELO Kiddies. The Ballad of TV Violence is about mass murder, while Daddy Should Have Stayed in High School concerns pedophiles. All of it is told with a sense of humor, but it doesn't come off as cheap or smirking because of the group's hard-rocking drive and Robin Zander's pop-idol vocals. Even Oh, Candy, apparently a love song on first listen, is an affecting tribute to a friend who committed suicide. In short, Cheap Trick revel in taboo subjects with abandon, devoting themselves to the power of the hook, as well as sheer volume and gut-wrenching rock & roll -- though the record is more musically accomplished than punk rock, it shares the same aesthetic. The combination of off-kilter humor, bizarre subjects, and blissful power pop made Cheap Trick one of the defining albums of its era, as well as one of the most influential.1. Hot Love

...Ya Know? (Awaiting Repress)BMG Rights Management presents Joey Ramone's second solo album, "...Ya Know?", eleven years after his life was cruelly cut short by lymphoma. The tracks were drawn from a cache of demos and unreleased recordings that Joey had cut at various times during the last decade and a half of his life.
His brother, musician Mickey Leigh, executive produced the project. It was of the utmost importance to me that these remaining songs of Joey's be finished properly, and made available for the world to hear, Leigh says of "...Ya Know?", which is comprised primarily of never-before-heard songs written and sung by his brother.
But this is no half-baked grab-bag of odds and ends. Rather, it's a riveting collection of first-rate songs that embody Joey's trademark intensity and wit, and that can stand proudly alongside his most beloved Ramones compositions. It's also a fitting, if belated, follow-up to Joey's first solo album Don't Worry About Me, which was recorded just prior to his death and released the following year.
"...Ya Know?", whose title refers to the phrase that was a ubiquitous staple of Joey's conversation, adds a significant new chapter to the seminal punk icon's hugely influential body of work. Among the many talented people Mickey Leigh and Joey's manager Dave Frey reached out to in bringing "...Ya Know?" to fruition was veteran producer Ed Stasium, who was behind the board for many of the Ramones' greatest albums, including their early classics Leave Home, Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin.
In addition to producing ten of the album's fifteen tracks, Stasium also contributed instrumentation and vocals to each. The swaggering album-opener Rock 'n' Roll Is the Answer (co-written with Plasmatics guitarist Richie Stotts) will be released as a limited-edition 7" single for Record Store Day on April 21, 2012.
That song and the hometown shout-out New York City demonstrate Joey's knack for channeling his personal passions into bracing anthems. The playfully breezy Make Me Tremble (which Joey wrote and recorded with Dictators founder Andy Shernoff) and the bittersweet acoustic ballad Waiting for That Railroad find him exploring some of the more introspective territory that he'd been unable to visit within the format of his former band.
Elsewhere on "...Ya Know?", I Couldn't Sleep is a collaboration between brothers Joey and Mickey, who also teamed up to record a romantic alternate version of the Ramones' holiday classic Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight) in Joey's apartment. Meanwhile, a previously unreleased reprise of Joey's late-period Ramones tune Life's A Gas ends the album on an appropriately uplifting note.
Also contributing to "...Ya Know?" is an assortment of musicians and producers whose prior relationships with Joey help to give the album an organic vibe that enhances its power and character. The cast of players includes Joan Jett, and Little Steven Van Zandt, who plays guitar on Party Line and wrote the album's poignant liner notes, along with such notables as former Ramones drummer Richie Ramone, Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick, Dennis Diken of the Smithereens, Richie Stotts, Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye, punk survivor Holly Beth Vincent, members of the Ramones' punk-era contemporaries The Dictators, and producers Jean Beauvoir and Joe Blaney.
The resulting album is a brilliant encapsulation of the qualities that made Joey Ramone one of rock's most unlikely, yet most beloved, heroes. Leigh reflects "Over the past eight years I've been getting barrages of emails and Facebook messages from Joey's fans, wanting to know when this album would be coming out. So having it finally become a reality gives me a feeling of triumph, not for me, but for my brother, and for his fans. RuntTODD RUNDGREN'S DEBUT MASTERWORK!!!!
First Time Audiophile Vinyl & Gatefold Cover Presentation
Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray from the original Bearsville Records tapes
As founding member of the premiere late sixties power pop rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter
and producer Todd Rundgren was barely in his 20's when he began his long solo journey with success as one of the music
industry's most prolific and celebrated rock artists.
His first solo album Runt showed a dazzling array of songs, displaying not only his rock and roll side but ventures into
jazz, R&B, eastern and blues. With help from his friends Hunt and Tony Sales, the power trio nailed one of the finest albums
of the classic rock era and also catapulted Todd Rundren's marquee as a singer/songwriter with his smash hit single We
Gotta Get You A Woman.
Ever the rock journeyman, Todd Rundgren had already produced, mixed or played on albums by legendary recording
artists like The Band and Paul Butterfield. Always called on to bring his musical genius for others, his initial hit recordings
that make up the Runt album show how versatile and important the artist is. Check out his burning guitar riffs on album
opener Broke Down And Busted or the gritty country blues feel of Once Burned, plus the New York funk/jazz of I'm In The
Clique, three fan favorites that truly have stood the test of time.
Known to write a hit ballad more than a few times in his career, Todd goes on record early here with one of his finest
tracks ever with his brilliant Believe In Me. Followed closely by his masterpiece We Gotta Get You A Woman, even more pop
sounds continue with his classic medley Baby Let's Swing/The Last Thing You Said/Don't Tie My Hands, and the haunting
Beach Boys/Gregorian Chant feel of There Are No Words.
This amazing album hasn't been on vinyl for several decades that is until now Friday Music is honored to announce

Good News For Modern Man
First Time On Vinyl For This 1999 Solo Album From Ex Husker Du Drummer/songwriter!
No one has to ask what the hell happened to Grant Hart? anymore. When last heard from in 1994, he was releasing his second LP with Nova Mob. His absence since was perhaps atypical, but here he is again, resuming his solo career for the first time in ten years. The good news is that Good News doesn't sound like Nova Mob or 1991's visceral Last Days of Pompeii, nor does it repeat his more introspective 1989 solo LP Intolerance or 1988's accomplished 2541 EP. Production-wise, this is the most pleasant Hart has come across. A sugar rush is added to his pronounced hooks, adding warmth without robbing the attack of vitality. It's hard to describe -- the first thought might be the exuberance of Cheap Trick on Surrender, only not so thumping. Songs such as Nobody Rides for Free and Seka Knows are not traditional power pop as much as vaguely restrained, crunchy-under-the-surface melodic rock songs with slight '60s influence. This steady, understated exhilaration is consistent with Hart's affable personality. You see it most on the lightest selection, Run Run Run to the Centre Pompidou, a jaunty pop romp to nowhere in gay Paris. But it's just as prevalent in the slower, demure tracks such as You Don't Have to Tell Me Now and, most unique of all, the Chills-like New Zealand hush of Teeny's Hair. Hart's control now is as impressive as when he was contrarily blistering the night with such incredible intensity behind the drums in 1984. His best LP since he parted company with Bob Mould and Greg Norton? Very likely!

Looking OnLooking On is the third album by The Move, released in December 1970 and is their first LP to feature Jeff Lynne.
With Wood's use of cello and woodwinds and Lynne's piano in addition to their usual guitars and vocals, anticipating the work they would later pursue in The Electric Light Orchestra, whose debut album they were starting to record at around the same time.
The Move was effectively a dead band walking when Lynne joined in February 1970 after fronting (and producing) The Idle Race. Wood had wanted to launch a new group with Lynne that would feature rock and strings, to pick up, in theory, where the Beatles' I Am the Walrus had left off. Brontosaurus was eventually covered by Cheap Trick and Feel Too Good was later featured on the soundtrack of the movie Boogie Nights as well as in the pilot episode of the UK series Life on Mars.1. Bad YearAfter the release of their 2014 debut EP The World Is A Terrible Place And I Hate Myself And Want To Die, The Weaks went to work on creating the best rock and roll record of the decade. Bad Year, the first full length record from The Weaks, is filled with more guitars than all of the songs you've heard on the radio in the last ten years combined. Slowly making their way towards superstardom, The Weaks have taken everything you love about Weezer, Superchunk and Cheap Trick and squeezed them Together in eleven tracks of purified rock.
The Weaks keep the same tongue in cheek Tomfoolery that earned them their cult following With The World Is A Terrible Place And I Hate Myself And Want To Die (see Bad Year tracks 2, 9 & 11), and just like on that EP, Bad Year's cheeky titling is backed up by well-crafted, beautifully recorded, brilliantly catchy songs. The songwritingduo of Evan Bernard and Chris Baglivo may be silly, but they are no joke. Alternating between shredding rockers and pop-y sing-alongs, The Weaks have put their back into delivering you your new favorite record.1. Kick It

Anthems (Limited Edition Colored Vinyl)Limited Edition Purple & White ''Haze'' Colored Vinyl
Anthems, Anthrax's eight-track EP that pays tribute to the classic songs by some of Anthrax's favorite bands from the 1970s. Anthems's track listing features Rush's ''Anthem,'' Thin Lizzy's ''Jailbreak,'' ''TNT'' by AC/DC, Boston's ''Smokin','' ''Big Eyes'' by Cheap Trick, Journey's ''Keep on Runnin,'' as well as the album version and a special remix of Anthrax's ''Crawl'' from the band's critically-acclaimed 2011 album Worship Music.
Said the band's vocalist Joey Belladonna, ''These are all bands I grew up with and have listened to forever. It's just great music. I had fun singing these songs and I was happy recording together with Anthrax, doing classic rock songs. Fun stuff!''
On Boston's ''Smokin','' Anthrax brought in a special guest to play keyboards - Fred Mandel, who has played with Alice Cooper, Queen, Elton John, Cheap Trick, Supertramp and on Pink Floyd's The Wall. About the track, drummer Charlie Benante said, ''If ever there were a perfect first album, it's Boston's first album. The harmony leads they did would later be heard by Iron Maiden, which of course would lead to thrash metal.''

The Golden Age Of BullshitPARTYBABY is the LA based 4 piece fronted by Jamie Reed and Noah Gersh, who, despite being only in their mid-20s, are both veterans of the modern rock scene (Gersh with Portugal. The Man and Reed with 30 Seconds to Mars). Their music can perhaps best be described as loud, hook-heavy rock in the spirit of Nirvana, Cheap Trick, Weezer, "Ziggy"-era Bowie, The Stooges, Smashing Pumpkins and The Cars. Their self-produced debut album, "The Golden Age of Bullshit," is mixed by Andy Wallace (Nirvana, The Cult, Run-DMC, Jeff Buckley).1. Overload (Intro)

New Normal CatastropheThis 5-song 12 EP is blazing fast and intelligent hardcore, 80s style, a la AOF's classic What We Want Is Free EP (1982) & Give Thanks LP (1984). Recorded at Chicago's Million Yen Studios (Cheap Trick, Effigies, Local H, Smoking Popes) on July 4, 2010, these 5 songs show the band members' continuing political involvement and brutal musical chops. This lineup had not written or recorded together since 1985's In This Life LP.
New Normal Catastrophe was mixed by J. Robbins (of Jawbox & Report Suspicious Activity [a collaboration between J. Robbins and AOF's Vic Bondi]) in Baltimore, MD.
This 5-song 12 is released in time for the return of the original lineup to the stage at Chicago's annual RIOT FEST from October 6-October 10, 2010. This lineup has not played live together since July 1985!1. With A Vengeance

Springtime CarnivoreEvoking a mellow high on a warm Sunday afternoon, where everything is magnified and glows in
Technicolor, the debut album from Springtime Carnivore is a dreamy work of ebullient pop and
looming psychedelia. Springtime Carnivore is the nom de tune of Greta Morgan. Produced by
Morgan and sonic wizard Richard Swift (The Black Keys, The Shins, Foxygen) the album crackles with warmth, employing faded strings, blown-out drums, fuzzy guitars, and pawnshop keyboards to adorn widescreen vocals. Due out November 4th from Aquarium Drunkard's Autumn
Tone Records, the album builds on a foundation of classic folk and pop songwriting, synthesizing
those roots with production that turns and careens unexpectedly, shooting her melodic songs in
varied light and from surprising angles: "Name on a Matchbook" merges off kilter grooves to
a strident glide; "Sun Went Black" charges marries fuzzy power pop to wistful longing; "Other
Side of the Boundary" is an aching psychedelic ballad, at once intimate but also cosmically faraway. Springtime Carnivore makes songs that sound familiar but skewed. Already a music veteran, Springtime Carnivore recently completed a tour supporting legendary soft psych band The
Zombies, with whom she shares a distinct melodic touch. The songs on the album utilize classic
approaches, but are distinctly modern. There's an index card tacked to the wall of Morgan's rehearsal space. It reads "no cheap tricks," and its command is heeded on Springtime Carnivore's

URPD-SMA-135xFive Horse Johnson
The Taking Of BlackheartReleased in January 2013, The Taking of Black Heart literally sees retro-rock survivors Five Horse Johnson galloping back into action -- or at least that's the rhythmic feel of the album's opening number, The Job, the image gracing its cover art, etc. Given all they've been through (none of it more traumatizing than frontman Eric Oblander suffering a stroke!), few would expect the group to come riding in to rescue classic rock from a fate worse than death (irrelevance), especially some six years removed from their last long-player's release. But as song after song rolls by, oftentimes driven by bluesier and rootsier songwriting ethics than 5HJ's ever displayed before, hope does spring eternal -- amen, bruvvers and sistahs, alright. Wailing harmonica and slippery slide guitars wrap themselves round and round laid-back groovers (Keep on Diggin', Smash & Grab, Die in the River) and foot-stomping bruisers alike (Black Heart Baby, Shoot My Way Out), thereby luring patrons left and right into 5HJ's juke joint -- and the first shot of canned heat is on them. Heck, and if any additional credibility were needed, get a load of Cheap Trick's Robin Zander taking over the mike stand for the album's funkiest, most euphoric moment in You're My Girl -- Otis Redding surely would approve. Perhaps more than any other track, the latter also highlights Five Horse Johnson's enduring faith and pure joy in playing rock & roll, regardless of how many paying customers show up on any given night. They're a band's band, at the end of the day: playing to play -- and The Taking of Black Heart is therefore a welcome return, bringing good news to the rock & roll faithful everywhere.

Live at the Music HallThose who were fortunate to catch Phosphorescent at any of the their shows in 2013 can attest to the fact
that this is no ordinary touring band. Built around the core of founding member/songwriter Matthew
Houck, Phosphorescent has expanded from a loop-station based solo act into a fully fledged classic rock
band to be held in the same regard as the likes of Crazy Horse. They spent most of 2013 touring behind
their hugely acclaimed album Muchacho, and by the end of the year the band were at the peak of their
powers. This 3xLP live album was recorded over the course of four jam-packed, sweltering holiday
nights in mid-December.
The shows featured the full line up of Matthew Houck (Voice, Guitar, Piano), Rustine Bragaw (Bass,
Voice), Christopher Marine (Drums), David Torch (Percussion), Jo Schornikow (Organ, Voice), Scott
Stapleton (Piano, Voice), Ricky Ray Jackson (Pedal Steel, Guitar, Voice). The songs are culled from across
the catalogue of Phosphorescent albums stretching back to early live favorite 'Wolves', which is featured
here in both solo form and in full band guise, through to current classics such as 'Song for Zula' & Ride
After the shows, Houck spent hours going through the recordings, piecing together this definitive live
collection. This is far from a quick cash-in live album - in fact, it should should perhaps be seen as the
ultimate Phosphorescent record, taking the recordings that make the studio album to a whole new level.
Once Houck had pieced together the tracks, he and album mixer John Agnello worked through the
tracks, mixing them to truly represent that amazing Phosphorescent sound - one part cowboy bravado,
one part wounded master.
You can hear how Houck's voice cracks over over the tender 'Tell Me Baby ' and how it soars in the
perhaps definitive Phosphorecent live song 'Los Angeles'. The musicianship on display here is supreme,
particularly Ricky Ray's sublime pedal steel and the dual keyboard work of Schornikow and Stapleton,
playing opposite each other and playing off each other. This album should be considered an addition to
the pantheon of classic live records - The Who's Live at Leeds, Frampton Comes Alive, Neil Young's Rust
Never Sleeps, The Band's The Last Waltz, Bob Marley's Live, Cheap Trick's Live at the Budokan - like those,
it is a defining moment in the catalogue of Phosphorescent.1. Sun Arise! (An Invocation/An Introduction) (Live)
