    Cactus

The original plan for Cactus was to release a debut album with the super group line-up of Vanilla Fudge rhythm section bassist Tim Bogart and drummer Carmine Appice together with guitarist Jeff Beck and singer Rod Stewart, though Becks car accident en Stewart joining Ron Wood in The Faces counteracted that.

Eventually joining Bogart and Appice were guitarist Jim McCarthy (Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels) and singer Rusty Day form Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes for this self-titled album that is arguably the highlight in their catalogue. The shredding turbocharged Boogie is a very fine example of how exciting early Seventies Hard Rock still can be!

Iron cartridge ~ The Hyperion ~ The laws of physics dictate how moving systems operate, therefore cartridges must strictly adhere to first principles to get sublime results. In accord with these laws, the Hyperion's Cactus needle Cantilever has the best of all worlds - thanks to Mother Nature. Other Cantilevers are synthesized -
    we GROW these.

Superior cantilever designs have always employed tapered cantilevers - Hard to do with aluminum, and all but impossible with the super hard and durable materials, such as boron, ruby or diamond. Cantilevers must also have dualistic qualities that are mutually exclusive; both stiffness and damping are required.

The tapered, longitudinal stacked columnar fibers, stacked and damped with desicated resin are exactly what one would build if one could - fortunately "nature" has done it for us. The best of both worlds - extreme rigidity, internal damping, and tremendous strength define what we feel is the best cantilever that can be built. Used in conjunction with our most highly refined Moving Iron cartridge design, the Hyperion has realized our hope - to further resolve our enjoyment of vinyl replay. Our moving iron design allows the required stationary magnetic parts to be rigidly held in exact position at all times thereby allowing dramatic reduction of the moving mass in the generating system. Our fully shielded design allows totally hum free operation, RF shielding, and extreme mechanical stability.

    Beck, Bogert & Appice

180 Gram Anniversary Edition with Gatefold Jacket

Beck, Bogert & Appice is the eponymous debut album by the '70s band Beck, Bogert & Appice. They were a supergroup and power trio, with the line up of guitarist Jeff Beck (who had already been a member of The Yardbirds and The Jeff Beck Group), bassist Tim Bogert, and drummer Carmine Appice (both formerly members of Vanilla Fudge and Cactus). The album had solid sales in 1973. One of the most notable tracks is Beck's version of the famous song of Stevie Wonder's and his' creation: Superstition.

This was the band's only studio album, as Beck left the band without warning during the recording of their second album, forcing a sudden dissolution in 1974.

    The Cactus Album

The Cactus Album is the debut album from the hip-hop trio 3rd Bass. The album was selected as one of The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. Most of the
music was produced by Sam Sever alongside members MC Serch and Pete Nice. Released at the end of the 80's, this album sums up all that was fun
about rap/hip hop at the time. M.C. Serch, Prime Minister Pete Nice, and D.J. Richie Rich come together to make The Cactus Album (The Cactus Cee/D)
a perfect late 80's time capsule of fun rhymes and funky beats. In celebration of Def Jam's 30th Anniversary this title is being reissued back on vinyl for
    the first time in years.

    "A guitar-grinding, drum-smashing desert-crawler,"

"Presents a desert crawl and barrage of collages that carry
across a free play of images and symbols set in sequence
    to the sounds"

In Chrome Cactus, The Young have created
a HUGE sounding, timeless rock album that
reinforces and revitalizes everything that is
great about American Rock Music in 2014.

Taking influence from early ZZ Top, Link Wray,
Lungfish, Dead Moon - Chrome Cactus is a ball
of power and controlled feedback disguised as
ten of the catchiest songs you'll hear this year.
Chrome Cactus is a far darker version of Austin's
The Young than ever before. The breezy
optimism of their earlier albums has been
switched out for sinister, creeping dread in both
    the lyrics and music.

The rhythm section of drummer Ryan Maloney
and new bassist Lucas Wedow drive a heavy
    foundation for guitarists Hans Zimmerman
and Kyle Edwards, who have reached dizzying
new heights. Expertly produced by fellow
sonic assassin Tim Green (Nation of Ulysses,
The Fucking Champs),    Chrome Cactus is the
    moment where Zimmerman's vocal delivery
is perfectly matched with the skillful, intuitive
interplay, which at this point is now fully realized.

    Wynonna & The Big Noise

WYNONNA and her band The Big Noise, led by her husband, producer/drummer Cactus Moser, recorded the majority of the album in the sanctity of their home studio located on the family farm in Tennessee. WYNONNA has described the new album as "vintage yet modern" and a "return to the well." It's a rootsy work encompassing country, Americana, blues, soul and rock.

The process of recording WYNONNA & THE BIG NOISE with her band set her free artistically. "Like a garage band we all get in a room, basically knee to knee in a circle, and we jam until it feels amazing,"WYNONNA shares. "By the time we push record we are already jacked up because we have practiced and practiced until we know we are rocking. The end result is even better than when we started out because we're free to just play and enjoy ourselves." She adds: "I have stripped myself of all the expectations of worrying about fitting into any format and just picked songs I love. This album is my favorite thing I've done so far."

Cactus elaborates about the recording of the album. "It creates more energy, more excitement and definitely a more unique sound to have our actual band play. When you have session players you just play differently. There's less emotional input, less freedom! These guys are with us 365 days a year and that was my goal to have an actual living breathing band make a record, not just people who come in for the week and then are gone. Much better feel, much better vibe. AMEN."

    Surfer Rosa

Ranked 315/500 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

The Plymouth Rock on which alternative rock was founded, the Pixies' Surfer Rosa forever altered the music environment even if it did take most of the world a few years to catch up with its brilliance. Internationally acknowledged as a pioneering record, its rollercoaster blend of harsh and soft tempos, male and female singing, intense punk and bubblegum pop tones, dark and light quips, and off-kilter sensibilities is the influential equivalent of the Velvet Underground's oft-cited 1967 debut.

The 1987 debut established the Pixies as otherworldly visionaries whose songs such as the insistent 'Bone Machine,' badgering 'Something Against You,' and sensual 'Cactus' remain ahead of the curve. Having analog fanatic and noise aficionado Steve Albini working production ensured that the music would retain a requisite rawness and in-your-face sonic signature that paralleled the fundamentally chaotic, compulsive characteristics of the Pixies' songs.

Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives

Just the name Paris evokes thoughts of romance. From tiny streetside cafes serving cafe au lait and fresh croissants to the breathtaking panoramic view as seen from atop the Eiffel Tower, the city simply oozes love. Thankfully the city of love also has a darker side. One just as dedicated to love, just love of a different kind. Love of all things heavy and all things rock. And that's the real Paris the one where Abrahma lives.

Formed in 2005 under the moniker Alcohsonic, this Parisian quartet epitimized the ideals of Rock and Roll. Blending the classic American 70's sound with blues, southern roots and just a hint of the modern Seb Bismuth, Nicolas Heller and the brothers Colin attempted to set Europe on fire. Their flame burned hot but far too bright and after five years, one LP and a scathing trail of live shows sharing the stage with the likes of Brant Bjork and Cactus, their course was run. But like a pheonix rising from it's own ashes Alcohsonic has been reborn as Abrahma.

''Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives'' is a self made monument to what might have been and an explosive first example what is yet to come. Five years on the road has hardened the sound and forged the new songs like iron in flame. Gone are any hints of 70's revivalism, buried beneath thick sludgy riffs and thundering basslines. Six hands play as one with the voice of an angry angel lighting the way. Featuring a guest appearance by Ed Mundell (Monster Magnet) and artwork designed by Alexander vonWieding ''Through The Dusty Paths Of Our Lives'' is a once in a lifetime debut. Catch a glimpse before the sparks begin to fly.
