Bryan Ferry's 14th solo album, 'Avonmore' features eight new Ferry compositions plus Ferry's cinematic interpretation of Sondheim's 'Send In The Clowns'. Produced by Ferry and Rhett Davies in Ferry's London studio, the album was mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire/Paolo Nutini) and features performances throughout the album by many of Ferry's long-term musical partners including Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr and Marcus Miller. Highlights include the forthcoming single 'Loop De Li', 'Soldier of Fortune' (co-written by Johnny Marr) plus closing track 'Johnny & Mary', Ferry's recent collaboration with Norwegian producer and DJ Todd Terje.

    Avalon

Flesh + Blood suggested that Roxy Music were at the end of the line, but they regrouped and recorded the lovely Avalon, one of their finest albums. Certainly, the lush, elegant soundscapes of Avalon are far removed from the edgy avant-pop of their early records, yet it represents another landmark in their career. With its stylish, romantic washes of synthesizers and Bryan Ferry's elegant, seductive croon, Avalon simultaneously functioned as sophisticated make-out music for yuppies and as the maturation of synth pop. Ferry was never this romantic or seductive, either with Roxy or as a solo artist, and Avalon shimmers with elegance in both its music and its lyrics. More Than This, Take a Chance with Me, While My Heart Is Still Beating, and the title track are immaculately crafted and subtle songs, where the shifting synthesizers and murmured vocals gradually reveal the melodies. It's a rich, textured album and a graceful way to end the band's career.

    Roxy Music

Simultaneously embracing kitschy glamour and avant-pop, Roxy Music's self-titled debut shimmers with seductive style and pulsates with disturbing synthetic textures. Bryan Ferry tracks out his nightclub glamour-boy persona here and his wandering vibratos sail over Brian Eno's atonal flourishes, but what really makes Roxy Music such a confident, astonishing debut is how these primitive avant-garde tendencies are married to full-fledged songs, whether it's the free-form, structure-bending Remake/Remodel or the sleek glam of Virginia Plain.

    The Jazz Age (Awaiting Repress)

If there was ever a musical icon and a decade destined to come together it is Bryan Ferry and the Roaring Twenties. The artist as creative powerhouse with a dazzling career of endless surprise, delight and innovation, and the decade - a time of modernity, decadence and bright young things - all driven on by the thrill of it all.

So what better way to celebrate and mark the 40th year anniversary of Ferry's incredible career as a singer and songwriter, than by rearranging his own compositions and have them performed in a 1920's style by his very own Jazz Orchestra? It began as an idea, fueled by Ferry's fascination of that time between the wars known as The Jazz Age. He decided the songs were to be all completely instrumental reinterpretations. A lot of the music I listen to nowadays is instrumental, he explains and I wanted to let my songs have a different life, a life without words.

He put together his very own jazz orchestra comprised of many of the great British jazz players from his past tribute to the 1930's, the album As Time Goes By - including his long-term musical director Colin Good, with whom Ferry worked closely on these new arrangements. The 13 songs have been chosen from 11 albums, from his very first release Roxy Music (1972) to his recent solo record Olympia (2010)

    Stranded

Roxy Music began to reign in its unsettling, quirky art rock on Stranded, the band's third album. In absense of keyboardist/arranger Brain Eno, vocalist Bryan Ferry assumes full control of Roxy Music's musical direction, moving toward a less overtly experimental, yet still progressive and eccentric style. Ferry still sings in a camp-styled croon, yet his songwriting is sharper and more nuanced here, as is conveyed by the enigmatic Psalm and the multi-part Mother of Pearl. Stranded also introduces violinist Eddie Jobson, whose contributions slotted in perfectly alongside reed player Andy Mackay and guitarist Phil Manzanera. There is no denying that this incarnation of the band represents Ferry's vision and the album provides the ideal structure for Ferry's quirky themes and style. Here on Limited Edition 180g Vinyl.

    The Wild Places

After two critically acclaimed albums showing his Renaissance influenced acoustic guitar picking, Duncan Browne went full-on electric half way through the Seventies with both his newly formed band Metro and several solo albums. It brought him near the cutting edge of the music industry and the closest he ever got to rock stardom, his records sought after in locales like New York's East Village and played on American college radio stations.

The Wild Places is the first of these electric solo albums, featuring the hit single title tack. Originally released in 1978, the music has a sense of drama closer to Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music than his previous efforts. Featuring a fierce sound with lush keyboards and beautiful melodies, this is Browne at the top of his game.

Austin's Shearwater debut on Matador with a completely refurbished edition of their critically acclaimed 2006 album. They re-recorded five of the eleven tracks and added new cover art, deluxe packaging in the form of a gatefold digipak inside an O-card, plus a bonus CD containing eight additional tracks, all for the price of one CD. The music is a soaring, vast, multi-instrumental song-cycle. The vocals and songwriting recall bands as diverse as Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry and late Talk Talk, but this is unabashedly rock music, anchored by Thor Harris's mighty Bonhamesque drums.

    The Best Of Wilson Pickett

The great Wilson Pickett will be forever known as one of the original classic soul pioneers who had a knack of mastering funk grooves drenched in soul, rock and pop. He made some of the greatest sides ever for Atlantic, where he spent almost two decades creating some of the grittiest sold music ever waxed.

In 1967, Wilson 'The Wicked' Pickett was honored with his first greatest hits collection by Atlantic Records simply titled The Best Of Wilson Pickett. This stunning array of his hit singles, most of them backed by Booker T. and The M.G.'s, dominated the upper rungs of the soul and pop charts for over a year.

The man was important in bridging all types of rhythm and blues music to a much wider audience, churning out not only soul smashes but pop masterpieces. Most of his biggest hits have been covered by contemporaries like The Rascals, Solomon Burke, Jackie Wilson, The Supremes, B.B. King, Mitch Ryder and Bryan Ferry, just to name a few.

Jam packed with the original recordings of solid senders like his classics In The Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally, Funky Broadway and of course Land Of 1000 Dances, The Best Of Wilson Pickett is virtually an encyclopedia of FUNK! This top ten charting 1967 LP hasn't been available on vinyl for many decades, that is until now! Friday Music has announced for the first time ever the stunning 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of The Best Of Wilson Pickett.

With Friends White Lies haven't so much abandoned their trademark synth-rock sound as given it a spring clean by exploring new sounds. Recorded in Bryan Ferry's private studio in London's Olympia, the album was self-produced by the band. Green and Yellow is the collected recordings of
legendary lost 1970s Deep South freaksters, THE
STROKE BAND. Seen and heard, until now, by only a
few South Georgia pot heads, rednecks, sheriffs,

    The Psychedelic Ubik

2004's critically acclaimed debut solo album by the enigmatic drummer of Spaceman, Sterling Roswell. Amazing song writing that fuses atmospheric space pop with an acid-laced romp through the annals of rock & roll, reflected in the album's two covers, Alex Chilton's Blue Moon and a variation on 60s garage band The Balloon Farm's Question of Temperature (Ludic Revolution). Out of the past of some parallel universe comes triumphantly the future of underground psych. Crow Jane Alley

    First Time On Vinyl

It's hard to get a handle on what to call Willy DeVille's multi-genre music, though AMG writer Thom Jurek's description of ''Spanish soul-inflected love songs'' comes close. ''Muddy Waters Rose Out of the Mississippi Mud'' would be perfect for Rusty Kershaw, God rest his soul, a nice complement to the laid-back cover of Jay & the Americans' Top Three hit from 1964, ''Come a Little Bit Closer'' -- its presentation a wonderful nod to songwriters Wes Farrell and Bobby Hart. The evolution is startling 28 years after Mink DeVille gave listeners ''Let Me Dream if I Want To'' on the classic punk LP Live at CBGB's, and DeVille emerges as a major interpreter. The four minutes and 31 seconds of Bryan Ferry's ''Slave to Love'' may be one of the most distinct and unique adaptations of a Ferry tune put on record to date. Outside of the covers, the other eight tracks are Willy DeVille originals, ''(Don't Have A) Change of Heart'' liberally borrowing the melody from Kenny Rogers' hit ''Lucille.'' ''Trouble Comin' Every Day in a World'' slinks and lurks around the corner with another stylistic change, sounding a bit like that other Willie from the same era, Bostonian Willie ''Loco'' Alexander. Crow Jane Alley is a very respectable collection from this journeyman, starting off with the single ''Chieva'' and continuing with DeVille's novel exploration of sound and clever merging of styles.

Live At St. Pancras Old Church

In October 2013 Melora Creager and Daniel from Rasputina arrived in London to join us and multi-instrumentalist, Neil Walsh, on a small tour of English churches and halls. With only a day to practice we were all a little apprehensive as we unpacked our instruments and set up some amps in our kitchen but after a few moments as the strings, voices and guitars filled the room we knew the shows ahead were going to turn out just fine.

Melora's and Daniel's cellos and Neil's viola provided new textures and direction to our old songs and it was a tour that left us very grateful for the opportunity to play with such talented friends, to attentive audiences in some spectacular, historical places.

The last night of the tour was recorded in St Pancras Old Church, London and we will be releasing it as a limited edition LP album. The sleeve is hand-drawn and the record will be pressed on heavyweight vinyl.

In the six years since Smoke Fairies first entered a recording studio, they have made three critically acclaimed albums, supported the likes of Bryan Ferry, Laura Marling, Seasick Steve and Richard Hawley, and were the first UK act to be flown to the states to record a single with Jack White for his Third Man Records label.

Jessica Davies and Katherine Blamire met at school in Chichester, West Sussex and have been inseperable ever since, travelling to tour their music across the world.
