    Glory (Deluxe Version)

Deluxe Edition Includes 5 Additional Songs

"Here's my invitation, baby / Come feel my energy," Britney Spears sings in the opening track of her ninth album. On this gorgeously produced array of hypnotic after-hours jams and gleaming EDM, Britney's energy feels pretty damn confident. Her vocals have never sounded stronger, from the elastic yelps of "Private Show" to the scorching "What You Need." "Clumsy" rockets from handclaps into the stratosphere just as Brit exclaims, as only she can: "Oops!"

    In Search Of...

The electro-powered grooves of the writing-production team the Neptunes have abetted fine-to-great tracks by everyone from Jay-Z and Ol' Dirty Bastard to Britney Spears. On their debut as performers, they display an irresistible knack for hooky tracks rooted in the eclectic listening habits they developed while growing up in the multiracial Virginia Beach, Virginia, neighborhoods they still call home. Fusing album rock and rap more forcefully and convincingly than Kid Rock or Durst-style aggro bands (the latter of whom they seem to lampoon on Rock Star), N.E.R.D. whip up a creamy yet slammin' mix. Main men Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo coax apropos guest shots from Kelis (the get-your-freak-on Truth or Dare, the sexiest thing here aside from the mÉnage-a-wow plea Tape You) and a handful of up-and-coming members. The live instrumentation that replaces the machine-tooled tracks of an earlier import version of In Search Of retains the tunes' syncopation while rendering it palatable for less eclectic rock fans. While not a commercial blockbuster on the order of many of their clients' discs, this venture is nonetheless one of 2002's standout releases. - Rickey Wright

    One Of The Boys

Blending elements of Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry's 2008 debut, One Of The Boys, bashes metrosexuals (Ur So Gay), flaunts lesbian experimentation (I Kissed a Girl) and celebrates spontaneous road trips (Waking Up in Vegas). The album boasts a cadre of top-shelf producers, including Desmond Child, Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, One Of The Boys, but it's Perry's bold, topical songs and in-your-face attitude that help the album pack a punch.

Raised in a musical family Anastacia first developed a career as a dancer, appearing in video clips and on MTV shows. Her debut album Not That Kind was released in 2000 and immediately struck a nerve in Europe, Asia and Australia, before hitting it big in the US.

Her striking looks and most of all her remarkable vocals had her searing up the charts, helped by hit singles such as I'm Outta Love, Cowboys & Kisses and the title song. Teaming up with some of the most successful songwriters of the time, her expressive alto voice had that rough edge needed for an identity of her own in blasting Pop/Rock/Soul tracks that did well both at home and on the dance floor.

Influenced more by Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner than contemporaries Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera she appealed to an adult crowd, eventually turning her into the World's Best Selling New Female Pop Artist at the 2001 World Music Awards.

    This Is Acting

This Is Acting is the seventh studio album by Australian singer-songwriter, Sia, following up last year's #1 charting, critically-acclaimed, and gold-certified album, 1000 Forms Of Fear.

"Alive," the album's first single was written by Sia, Adele and Tobias Jesso, Jr. and was produced by Jesse Shatkin, who also co-wrote and co-produced Sia's massive four-time Grammy nominated "Chandelier.

An astonishingly creative and uncompromising performer, Sia is also a highly prolific hit maker and songwriter, having penned several hit singles over the last few years for others. She has crafted songs for pop icons including Rihanna ("Diamonds"), Katy Perry ("Double Rainbow"), Britney Spears ("Perfume"), Kelly Clarkson ("Invincible"), Carly Rae Jepsen (Making the Most of the Night), BeyoncÉ ("Pretty Hurts") and Celine Dion ("Love Me Back To Life"), and many more. From the streets of Inglewood CA come letlive. Their self-produced and released debut Fake History was picked up by Epitaph in 2011,and quickly established the band as a force to be reckoned with, inheritors of that uncategorizable blend that made bands like the Deftones, Mars Volta and Rage Against the Machine so crucial.

Such was the rapt reception for the album that by end of year frontman Jason Aalon Butler was being named the #1 rock star in the world by Kerrang (yes, #1,that's not a typo). Mixing hardcore punk, metalcore, and even jazz and R&B influences in their sound (Jason's dad was a well-known LA bandleader who pioneered rock/soul crossover with Eric Burdon), letlive.'s melting pot of influences reflects the melting-pot Los Angeles neighborhood in which the band came together.

Now with their proper debut on the label, The Blackest Beautiful, the band comes fully prepared with a mammoth sonic attack, produced by longtime co-conspirator Kit Walters and mixed by pop guru
Stephen George (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson).

Opening salvo "Banshee (Ghost Frame)" announces a band that has remained loyal to their hardcore origins, while tracks like "Younger" and "Pheromone
Cvlt" display a new melodic sophistication.

    Love You In The Dark

Our first introduction to Minneapolis' Brad Hale, a.k.a Sombear, came via the alluring-yet-diffident "Love You in the Dark". Lyrics like "I can't love you when you talk sweetly about me" reveal an insecurity Hale himself is well aware of. "I have a hard time being confident and sharing my music with the world," he said in a statement. Now it seems a swell of press, alongside work with Tegan and Sara and Death Cab for Cutie, has bolstered Hale's mettle. One day before its official Trans- Records release, Hale is sure enough to share a stream of his debut album, Love You in the Dark.

Over the course of 10 tracks, the effort provides Hale's own blend of sonic touchstones from pop, R&B, and electronic musics, the sum of his teenage influences. "Before high school, I was really into Britney Spears and NSYNC and the Spice Girls," Hale confessed. "No shame. Those are the artists that sparked my interest in pop, which I think is what I take a lot of influence from Then in high school I came across Daft Punk's Discovery and subsequently became obsessed with that genre of electronic music."

You can find those sounds tucked into tracks like "Never Say Baby" and "The Good", which capture the sort of ear-hooking beats that make for sure pop hits. But while the former's lyrics remain in that aural realm, the latter's are decidedly more, well, somber: "Do we have to bring the good down to feel like it's real?/Do you remember how it used to be easy?/Oh god, I wish we could go back there." The one-two of openers "Incredibly Still" and "The Way We Are" are instant highlights, disparate in their moods while unified in their buoyant electro-pop. Elsewhere, "LA" plays in the same vocodered gloom of the title track, and "Loose Ship" sails along on a resilient synth breeze.

All told, Love You in the Dark is a solid introduction to a careful artist finding his way out of his shell. And if this is the kind of material he can generate, here's hoping he finds the confidence to produce more in the future.

    G I R L

Redefining cool for a new generation, Pharrell Williams is a creative force, using music, fashion, and design to express his distinctive style. From his beginnings as a teenage prodigy and multi-instrumentalist in Virginia Beach back in the early '90s, through enough hits to earn him Billboard's Producer of the Decade in 2010, to his current status as multi-media superstar, Williams has never stopped creating. Starting his producing career as one half of The Neptunes with Chad Hugo, Williams has helped create such classics as Daft Punk's Get Lucky, Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, Nelly's Hot in Herre, Jay-Z's I Just Wanna Love U (Give it 2 Me), Britney Spears's I'm A Slave 4 U, and Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You.

With over 100 million copies of his productions sold, his music sounds like something no one else has thought of just yet. He's also created a new way of looking at established stars like SnoopDogg, Madonna, and even the Rolling Stones. Over four albums, Williams and Hugo along with Shae Haley created an unpredictable hybrid as part of the alt-rock/hip-hop group N.E.R.D. His prolific body of work also ranges from designing a sculpture with Tokyo-born artist Takashi Murakami to accessories and jewelry for luxury goods brands Louis Vuittonand Moncler. Now, with his latest venture i am OTHER a multi-media creative collective that serves as an umbrella for all his endeavors, including Billionaire Boys Club & ICECREAM apparel, textile company Bionic Yarn and dedicated YouTube channel Williams' vision continues to push pop culture forward.

G I R L is Pharrell's highly anticipated new album, and features the hit single, Happy, an international phenomenon and radio smash. Happy was first featured on Despicable Me 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). It is nominated for an OSCAR this year for Best Original Song, and Pharrell will perform Happy on the OSCARs on March 2nd, on ABC.

Happy has sold more than 2.3 million tracks worldwide, and has topped the chart in more than 175 countries. Currently in the US, the song generates over 120 million weekly audience impressions across 6 radio formats - Top 40, Rhythm, Hot AC, Urban, Urban AC, and AAA. Happy has also just been certified Platinum.

In addition to the excitement of Pharrell's new album, he just took home four Grammy Awards, including including Producer of the Year, Album of the Year for Daft Punk s Random Access Memories, and Record of the Year as well as Best Pop Duo/Performance for Daft Punk's Get Lucky.

    Completement Fou

Yelle's third album will be released on the hit-maker's own Kemosabe Records and the team-up makes good sense. Though these Frenchies may not have one of the household names we're used to seeing next to that man's handle (Katy Perry, Robin Thicke, Britney Spears) they've long possessed an originality of voice and strength in songwriting that transcends whatever their trappings. Of course, they see it a bit differently. "We just do things we love," says Yelle, nÉe Julie Budet. "This is the only rule we have. At the end of the day this is what makes Yelle: Spontaneity."

And Yelle once again make an album that is pure Yelle. Complètement Fou is equally wild and wry, celebratory and melancholy, sensual and strange, forceful and full of fun. Cofounder and key composer GrandMarnier (Jean-François Perrier) laid down the frame for each song. Then Luke and his ace team - Oliver, Cirkut, Kool Kojack, A.C, Billboard, JMIKE, and MadMax - amplified what was already there instead of inventing a new identity. Collaboration was new territory, but it was the perfect path forward to advance the bouncy, synthesizer-rich sound of 2011s Safari Disco Club.

Look no further than the titular track to hear that growth in action: "Complètement Fou" opens with chopped rave keys, round sequencer blips, a mighty low-end kick, and playful effects à la Basement Jaxx. Then comes Yelle's voice - a transcendent thing that compliments those lush electronics so well. While "Coca Sans Bulles" tows the dark/light line between '80s electro oddness and Daft Punk disco, "Jeune Fille Garnement" slinks/surges like the Knife's freaky outrÉ techno. "Ba$$in" swirls rap with Eurodance; "Dire Qu'on Va Tous Mourir" puts R&B through a Oneohtrix filter.

And then there's "Moteur Action," a song whose summer breeziness suggests a top-down highway ride, oversized sunglasses on, scarf trailing behind. Though knowing Yelle, the lyrics aren't so blithe as those ebullient oohs might have you believe. Our heroine explains the album's primary themes as "relationships, love, bodies, dance, and sensuality, but also death." Ecstasy prevails in parts too. We'll let you seek your own translation of "Nuit de Baise," but "Florence en Italie" was inspired by Stendhal Syndrome, which causes viewers of particularly moving art to swoon and pass out.

Yelle sought a lyrical partner for Complètement Fou as well: "a French dandy called JÉrôme Echenoz," in her words, though he's best known as Tacteel (of TTC, for those who remember the details of Yelle's 2007 debut, Pop Up). "We used to do everything by ourselves," she says, "but we wanted to open the circle this time around because we love people!" She insists there are no direct dis songs in the vein of "Je Veux Te Voir," only "some winks here and there not personal, more about society." To wit, she counts Votaire's monumental 1759 satire Candide among the LP's influences.

At the heart of Yelle today is the same spirit that brought the pair formerly known as Julie and Jean-François together, as great friends, in 2000. They initially called their project YEL - an acronym for "You Enjoy Life" - but the exuberant, feminized, Francofied shout they've taken for a moniker suits them perfectly. We yell when we are happy with the world and we yell when we're pissed off at its ways. But we probably yell our best when we're complètement fou.
