Features The #1 Smash Hit La Bamba By Los Lobos + Brian Setzer's Summertime Blues + Bo Diddley's Who Do You Love

Mastered Impeccably From The Original Slash Records Tapes By Joe Reagoso

1987 was a big year for Los Lobos and a huge blockbuster movie called La Bamba based
on the life and times of the late great Richie Valens. Its success truly made way for a number
one soundtrack companion LP, which rode to the top of both the sales and airplay charts with
multiple format hit records for over a year.

The box office smash featured some of the biggest songs of that year with Los Lobos's #1
smash hit single La Bamba as well as seven more Los Lobos rockin' champions like Come On
Lets Go, Framed and the torch ballad Richie Valens was so well remembered for, Donna. Superstars like Brian Setzer also contributed to the #1 soundtrack too with tunes like Summertime
Blues and Bo Diddley's own rockin' Who Do You Love. Carlos Santana was also on hand for the
film score and through it all, the La Bamba LP will forever be known as one of rock's finest movie
    and musical soundtrack's ever recorded.

As with our continuing expansion into the original movie soundtrack genres, Friday Music
is very proud to announce the first time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of the Los Lobos
multiplatinum smash La Bamba - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

This stunning album is mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (Elvis Presley/Bo Diddley/
Chuck Berry) from the Slash Records tapes and includes the original LP sized artwork, not seen
    since its original 1987 release.

    Rare Tracks

The key group of the early-'80s rockabilly revival, the Stray Cats scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual style tailor-made for the early days of MTV, as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. the Stray Cats were formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979. At first, Setzer played rockabilly covers in a band called the Tom Cats with his brother, drummer Gary, and bassist Bob Beecher; however, Setzer soon abandoned that group to join up with newly rechristened school friends Lee Rocker (born Leon Drucker) and Slim Jim Phantom (born James McDonnell). However, their retro '50s look and sound didn't go over well around Long Island, and in the summer of 1980, the group headed to England, where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge.

    Step Back

Blues legend Johnny Winter will release a new studio album, Step Back, via Megaforce Records. The album, the followup to 2011's Roots, will find Winter exploring a more aggressive vintage-blues style.

The album also will feature a host of special guests, including Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Dr. John, Leslie West, Brian Setzer and Joe Bonnamassa.

"If there's good people, other good musicians, people enjoy it. I just love it, Winter says. [Step Back] is just to bring it to the people of today who haven't listened to the old music. It's better than anything they hear today.

Produced by Winter's guitarist, Paul Nelson, Step Back opens with "Unchain My Heart," which features Winter and his band joined by the Blues Brothers horns. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons is featured on "Where Can You Be."

"I never had the opportunity to jam with him [in the Sixties and Seventies]," Gibbons says. "I was content to remain in awe and admiration."

"If it weren't for Johnny Winter, I would have never picked up the guitar," adds Aerosmith's Joe Perry, who joins Winter on Lightnin' Hopkins' "Mojo Hand."

Other highlights include Winter's guitar and vocal trade-offs with Harper on Willie Dixon's "Can't Hold Out (Talk to Me Baby)," Winter and Clapton's rendition of Bobby Bland's "Don't Want No Woman" and Winter and Dr. John honoring Fats Domino with "Blue Monday."

"When you hear that sound come out of that Firebird guitar, you know it can be the one and only Johnny Winter," says Setzer, who is featured on Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's "Okie Dokie Stomp."

Working Girl's Guitar (Out of Stock)

Rosie Flores, the Rockabilly Filly, the working girl's guitar virtuoso, surfs some slinky West Texas waves, channels some lush, longing Beatles-inflected pop and adds some sly hither-come purrs to a classic by the King. Rosie can be an elegant classicist, or can let it all hang out with a rock and roll energy that most somehow forget to remember. It's all wrapped up with Rosie's singularly scorching guitar work and backed by Brian Setzer's rhythm section.

"Rosie Flores was born too late to be tagged 'the Female Elvis,' which is just as well. Although she's made her reputation singing and playing rockabilly, primitive R&B, and early rock-flavored tunes, she has a further-ranging taste than Elvis ever had, and has also written some of the best tunes in her repertoire."-All Music Guide.
