    Blow By Blow

1975 was a magical year for Jeff Beck. Already a rock superstar from his ground breaking guitar work with The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and Beck Bogert and Appice, Beck's Blow By Blow was a total artistic leap into new musical territory which netted the guitar hero massive acclaim.

Produced by the legendary George Martin, Blow By Blow features nine smokin' tracks of instrumental genius as only Jeff Beck could provide. Smokin' originals like You Know What I Mean, Air Blower and Scatterbrain have all become standards in the rock/jazz fusion world, as his beautiful cover of Steve Wonder's Cause We've Ended Now As Lovers illustrates even further the depth, technique and originality of Jeff Beck's guitar artistry.

With stellar musicians like Max Middleton (keyboards), Phil Chenn (bass), and Richard Bailey (drums/percussion), plus beautiful string arrangements by George Martin, Beck and Co. truly delivered a historic masterpiece with this classic album.

Friday Music proudly releases Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow for the first time on 180g Audiophile Vinyl. Reissue produced from the original Epic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso and pressed at RTI with Sony Music, this limited edition album will be one of the most important audiophile events of this year.

    A Mind Blows Everyday

Beltran has gained worldwide acclaim over the years with his diverse repertoire, ranging from melodic and slick techno sounds on his groundbreaking albums Americano and Ten Days Of Blue to more straightforward electronica with his two previous releases In Full Color and Sun Gypsy. A Mind Blows Everyday is a catchy, mid-tempo single where ghostly female vocals and organic drumbeats marry in full harmony. The B-side is a dance floor remix by production team Busy People; a beautiful, hypnotic and soulful deep house track that'll have everyone dancing. This 12-inch is an intimate and deep trip into Beltran's musical world; a beautiful mixture of ambient landscapes with subtle, upbeat moments. Album single.

Clifford Jordan's first date as a leader actually found him sharing a heated jam session with fellow tenor John Gilmore. Backed by pianist Horace Silver, bassist Curly Russell, and drummer Art Blakey, the two saxophonists square off mostly on obscurities (other than Gigi Gryce's Blue Lights and Billie's Bounce). This was one of Gilmore's few sessions outside of Sun Ra's orbit and, if anything, he slightly overshadows the cooler-toned Jordan. Recommended.

    Blows The Blues

...these are all truly classic Verve titles that you simply don't want to miss...most importantly, the sound of these reissues is nothing short of astounding. Particularly the early Billie and Ella mono records are incredible treasures of sonic beauty. I'd definitely ask Santa for the whole set, or, if you want to cherry pick, the most classic titles. Whatever you decide, you owe yourself at least a half dozen! Winner of a 2012 Positive Feedback Online Writers' Choice Award - Danny Kaey, Positive Feedback Online, November/December 2011

Sonny Stitt led a number of excellent record dates in 1959, especially at the end of the year when he produced three LPs for Verve over a span of three sessions with pianist Lou Levy, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Mel Lewis. Playing alto sax throughout this album, Stitt hardly sounds like a Charlie Parker clone, something that unfortunately was a frequent claim by tin-eared critics throughout a fair portion of his career. The music includes several potent originals, especially Hymnal Blues and the slow, powerful Morning After Blues.

A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart

Bill Ryder-Jones is a talented man. His new album, A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart, marries his masterful capacities as arranger and composer with his first firm steps as a singer songwriter. It's an album of capital-S songs that will more than sate the appetite of those that appreciate his knack for heart swelling melody and painterly detail.

Bill left The Coral after their fifth studio album Roots & Echoes, on which his arrangements hinted at a deeper and spectacular compositional talent. Last year Ryder-Jones explored this side of his creative talent in full with the orchestral album If for Domino sister label Double Six - which was a grand 'imaginary soundtrack' to Italo Calvino's post modernist novel If On A Winters Night A Traveller.

A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart was recorded in Ryder-Jones' old bedroom in the upstairs of his mother's house in Liverpool. Two friends from local band By The Sea made up the backing band for the recordings, which were then produced and mixed together with James Ford.

    Blow-Up Soundtrack

Blow-Up is a soundtrack album by Herbie Hancock featuring music composed for Michelangelo Antonioni's cult film Blow-Up, released in 1966. Musically the songs evoke the ambience of swinging Sixties' London with grooves that create effective bluesy Jazz moods on the slow pieces, and funky ones on the up-tempo tracks.

The album features performances by Hancock on keys, Freddie Hubbard and Joe Newman on trumpet, Phil Woods and Joe Henderson on sax, Ron Carter on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Rumours go that either the fabled Jimmy Smith or Paul Griffin played the Hammond organ on this record.

Rock fans remember the film and the soundtrack for the inclusion of a rare Yardbirds number, Stroll On (actually, an adaptation of Tiny Bradshaw's The Train Kept A-Rollin'), one of only three songs they recorded with both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitars. The bassline to Bring Down The Birds was sampled by Deee-Lite for their 1990 hit single Groove Is In The Heart featuring Bootsy Collins.

'Wired' is Jeff Beck's 1976 solo album. It was this album that started a fruitful collaboration with former Mahavishnu Orchestra keyboardist Jan Hammer whom Beck toured with shortly thereafter. Beck and Hammer interplay extensively between each other by making his synthesizer sound almost identical to a guitar. The result was a more synthesized sound, hence its title, 'Wired'. Some tracks include members of the 'Blow by Blow' lineup. These tracks were recorded during the 'Blow by Blow' sessions but were left off that album and carried over to 'Wired. One of the most highly praised tracks is Beck's interpretation of the Charles Mingus classic 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat'.

    There And Back

Whenever Jeff Beck releases an album, it's always a musical event. As the third in a trilogy of multifaceted career defining albums, preceded by Blow By Blow and Wired, the iconic guitarist unleashed one of the most popular albums in his ever enduring catalog with 1980's There And Back.

This masterwork unites the guitar hero with his powerful team of world class musicians, Jan Hammer (keyboards), Simon Phillips (drums), Tony Hymas (keyboards) and Mo Foster (bass). The brilliant guitar shredder and his quartet of amazing master musicians truly throw down some of his classiest and hardest driving repertoire for this Jeff Beck and Ken Scott (David Bowie/Kansas/Supertramp) production.

The album begins with the rhythmic rocker Star Cycle. The tune finds Beck and Hammer dueling on some very solid power riffs making this a great opening track for the listener. The soulful vibe of Too Much To Lose has the tremendous voicing of Jeff's guitar with Hymas' fine keyboard elements and Phillips' wonderful drum work throughout.

Always an astute bluesman, The Pump retains a solid groove which allows Beck to power away with some very intricate fret work, making this album the classic that it is. Hard rock fusion continues with more classics like You Never Know, El Becko and Space Boogie. These and his jazz rock leaning hits like The Golden Road and The Final Peace truly reward his fans with one of the finest albums in his decorated career!

Friday Music proudly presents the limited edition 180g audiophile release of Jeff Beck's classic There And Back. As a continuation of their highly regarded Jeff Beck Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Series, this fine recording is mastered from the original Epic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso (Jeff Beck, Deep Purple, Yes) at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray.

Also for this rare anniversary edition, Friday will be presenting the original artwork now in a very limited first time gatefold cover featuring all of the art elements you remember from this incredible 1980 career album for Jeff Beck.

The fifth album by Dr. John, aka the Night Tripper is also heralded as his richest album to date. Dr John's Gumbo was released in 1972 and is in many ways a tribute to his hometown New Orleans. It features excellent interpretations of New Orleans traditionals (Iko Iko, Tipitina, Junko Partner and Stack-O-Lee) and contemporary R&B written or played by the likes of Huey Piano Smith (Blow Wind Blow and Huey Smith Medley) Earl King and Earl Gaines (Big Chief, Let The Good Times Roll and Lonely Lonely Nights). Dr. John delivers a strong set of infectious songs drenched in good vibes and spiced with a pinch of voodoo. The Making Of

The Bohicas debut album The Making Of lands blow after blow. A barrage of killer hooks, razor blade riffs and choruses that slap you in the face, grab your hand and lead you onto the dance floor. All shot through with pulp imagery torn from the pages of a graphic novel. Their story begins in Essex where as schoolmates they first came together over a love of The Beatles, The Kinks, Ray Charles and the new wave of guitar bands who emerged at the start of the century after the scrag ends of Britpop had finally limped off. The album was was produced by Mark Rankin (Queens Of The Stone Age, Bombay Bicycle Club), Chris 'Merrick' Hughes (Tears For Fears, Adam And The Ants) and Oli Bayston (Toy, Boxed In). Gods of Violence is the upcoming fourteenth studio album by the German thrash metal band Kreator, set for release via Nuclear Blast. It will be the band's first studio album since Phantom Antichrist (2012), marking the longest gap between two studio albums in their career.

Kreator mastermind Mille Petrozza comments: Gods Of Violence was the first song I wrote for this album and it stuck to me as the title track. It contains everything KREATOR is known for and it will blow your minds. Promise! Regarding the artwork Petrozza adds: The cover is a perfect reflection of my lyrical vision. Run-DMC

Future archaeologists will discuss two periods in 1980s: before Run-DMC and after Run-DMC. It's no exaggeration to say that the group
changed the course of music in the '80s, bringing the old-school of rap into the new with one simple piece of flat, black plastic.

Coming up in the rap world of the early 1980s under the wing of Kurtis Blow (group manager Russell Simmons managed Blow, and Run
was, at one time, a DJ known as "Son of Kurtis Blow") and Blow's bassist and burgeoning super-producer Larry Smith, the trio - Joseph
"Run" Simmons, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels and Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell - learned from the best, but created their own path.

1983 was the year that they first broke out. With only an Oberheim DMX drum program and some cuts by Jay, "Sucker M.C.s (Krush-Groove
1)" was a shot across the bow to the slick, post-disco pocket rap had settled into. It was raw, pure swagger and it took both New Yorkers
and music aficionados around the world by storm. The song's lyrics are a mandatory memorization assignment to this day by MCs learning
their craft. "Two years ago, a friend of mine "

The group's sound, which was laid out muscularly on Run-DMC, had a harder approach than their peers, thanks to producer Larry Smith's
use of live musicians who laid down grooves but didn't soften the edges. Lyrically the group wasn't just about brags either, with songs like
"Hard Times," "It's Like That" and "Wake Up" (the first two were singles). Run's and DMC's overlapping tag-team approach to lyricism was
    powerful and immensely influential.

"Rock Box," another single and arguably the centerpiece of the album, was a nod to their hard edge, and a foreshadowing of their first
worldwide smash, 1985's "King Of Rock." Jam Master Jay's DJ work was stellar, knowing exactly when to jump in and put listeners' ears in
    a headlock.

The album was the first rap full-length to achieve Gold status, and as fans know, the group was just getting started - their next two LPs would
take them to even higher status in the music world, critically and sales-wise. But this is where it all started, and it's a classic that still sounds
fresh today as it did more than 30 years ago.

Friday Night In San Francisco (Awaiting Repress)

1981 album by Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia recorded at The Warfield Theatre on December 5, 1980, in San Francisco. All tracks are live except for the last track, Guardian Angel, which is the opening theme from a song that appears on McLaughlin's 1978 Electric Dreams album.

Ah the Mediterranean... Filled with fine foods, wines, beautiful people, and the inspirational style of music that descended upon the able fingers of these guitar giants. This is by far one of the hottest guitar albums ever to bless sweet vinyl. Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, & Paco Delucia play classical guitars (the kind with the nylon strings) in a flamenco / jazz style that will blow your socks off!

Recorded live in concert in San Francisco this album has spectacular sonics and musicianship to boot!

The rare opportunity to hear Milt Jackson step out
from behind his familiar vibraphones to play piano,
and partner Ray Charles, in addition to manning the
88s, blow on the alto saxophone for two numbers,
shouldn't be missed. Particularly on this LP, which
portrays the 1957 collaboration within a huge, naturally
vibrant soundstage. Mastered from the original master
tapes and press on 180 gram vinyl, this edition lays
bare the relaxed, bluesy, often-boppish jazz on display
from these two giants. With stellar support, the two
headliners treat this affair as a backroom woodshedding
    session.

    Dance to The Music

When the irresistible sound of Dance To The Music lit up the nation's airwaves in early 1968, it was obvious that Sly Stone's whole new thing was about to blow everyone's mind sky-high. This live-wire chart smash used the time-tested introduce the band technique to showcase trumpeter Cynthia Robinson, Sly's brother/guitarist Freddie Stone, saxman Jerry Martini, Sly's sister/pianist Rosie Stone, bassist Larry Graham and drummer Greg Errico all from different cultural/racial backgrounds. This radical new sound would have far-reaching musical implications the second album by Sly & the Family Stone is full of grooves and beats just as intoxicating as Dance To The Music, featuring addictive heavyweight numbers like Higher and Ride The Rhythm tunes ripe for Cynthia's cautionary warning, All the squares go home!

    Dua Lipa

Born and raised in London to Kosovar-Albanian parents, the sultry-voiced Lipa attended Sylvia Young Theater School (Rita Ora, Amy Winehouse) until the age of 13, when she relocated to Kosovo with her family. However, the move wouldn't last very long, and she was back in London by age 15, living on her own and pursuing a singing career. Her shimmery debut single, New Love, was followed up with the soulful Be the One. Longlisted for the prestigious BBC's Sound of 2016, Dua Lipa released Hotter Than Hell and Blow Your Mind (Mwah) in 2016, coinciding with a tour throughout the spring and summer. While Hotter Than Hell went on to break the Top 20 in the U.K., in 2017, she earned the distinction of having three simultaneously-charting singles in the U.K. Top 15 with Be the One, Scared to Be Lonely with Martin Garrix, and No Lie with Sean Paul.
