Freetown SoundDev Hynes (Blood Orange) is set to release Freetown Sound, his third proper full-length album, and the
most expansive statement of his career. Written and produced by Hynes, Freetown Sound is a tour de
force, a pastiche of Hynes' past, present, and future that melds his influences with his own established
For well over a decade, DevontÉ Hynes has proven himself a virtuoso of versatility, experimenting with
almost every conceivable musical genre under a variety of monikers. After moving to New York City in
the mid-2000s, Hynes became Blood Orange, plumming the oeuvres of the city's musical legends to
create a singular style of urgent, delicate pop music. Freetown Sound, which follows 2011's Coastal
Grooves and 2013's breakthrough Cupid Deluxe, builds upon everything Hynes has done as an artist,
resulting in the most expansive artistic statement of his career.
Drawing from a deep well of techniques
and references, the album unspools like a piece of theater, evoking unexpected communions of moods,
voices, and eras. Freetown Sound derives its name from the birthplace of Hynes' father, the capital of
Sierra Leone. Thematically, it is profoundly personal and unapologetically political, touching on issues of
race, religion, sex, and sexism over 17 shimmering songs. Each song echoes into another, with leitmotifs
carefully stitched throughout, yielding a sound palette that gently recalls elastic funk, slinky R&B, and
pure pop, but resisting easy categorization.
For Hynes, the process of self-discovery involved in creating Freetown Sound proved as valuable as the
finished product. "This record really tries to say things that I've been wanting to express for many years,"
he says. "It looks into my childhood and examines who I am at this point in my life. There are so many
crazy layers to it that it's actually quite hard to talk about it, but the record is very reflective of how my
brain works. It's been very interesting for me trying to understand and tie all of these things together. It's
been a way of working through it."LP 1

Agent Orange (Awaiting Repress)Their origins date back to the year 1980. Be it the early demo tapes, their "In The Sign Of Evil-EP" (Steamhammer), or their 1996 debut album "Obsessed By Cruelty" - Sodom intimidated the world at large from the very beginning. Two years and one album later, the band toured Europe with the likes of Whiplash, recording the live cut "Mortal Way Of Life" at the legendary Tor 3 in DÜsseldorf in the process. With "Agent Orange", the band from Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr area of Germany unleashed a milestone of the genre. Sodom toured all over the world, travelled Europe repeatedly and played a number of successful gigs in Japan and South America. Albums like Better Off Dead (1990) or "Tapping The Vein" (1992) solidified the success of the band, who - despite a number of personnel changes - managed to maintain their characteristic sound, mainly thanks to bassist and vocalist Tom Angelripper. Throughout the Nineties, Sodom lost none of their authenticity on albums like "Masquerade In Blood" or "'Til Death Do Us Unite", remaining firmly grounded and never losing touch with their roots. With their 1999 release "Code Red", a
title that refers to the US Marines' infamous punishment code, the trio consisting of Angelripper/
Bernemann/Schottkowski proved as politically committed as ever. This tradition was continued in
2001 with a journey to the Far East, namely two shows in Bangkok and Saigon and the explosive
subject matter of their album, "M16". Subsequently, Angelripper threw himself into the preparations for Sodom`s first DVD, "Lords Of Depravity Part I" (the band are already busy working on a successor), presenting their latest studio recording in 2009 - "Sodom".LP1

MothChairlift, Moth, is the duo's 3rd studio album. Moth was written and produced by Chairlift over the course of two years in the band's own studio, which they built in an old pharmaceutical factory in Brooklyn. Throughout the recording process, Patrick and Caroline both pursued other recording projects and collaborations -- From Caroline penning a song for Beyonce and collaborating with SBTRCT and Blood Orange, to Patrick producing for Solange and Wet. Alongside these collaborations, Moth was born. It has strong Pop and R&B leanings, but pared with their own distinctly Chairlift style, and led by Caroline's flawless and expressive vocals. Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur RussellMaster Mix' embodies the genre-defying, experimental spirit that defined Russell's work. Living in the East Village from the '70s until his untimely death in 1992 at age 40 from AIDS-related causes, Russell moved effortlessly between the city's various music scenes, recording disco beats alongside Nicky Siano one night, and the next, crafting slow, haunting tracks in his apartment with his cello and idiosyncratic warbling voice. The New Yorker called his work "stranded between lands real and imagined: the street and the cornfield; the soft bohemian New York and the hard Studio 54 New York; the cheery bold strokes of pop and the liberating possibilities of abstract art." Through his collaborations, he earned the admiration of artists like Allen Ginsberg, David Byrne and Philip Glass, who said of Russell's music: "It does not submit to formula, but subverts the formula." The record features 26 tracks by more than 20 artists, including Hot Chip, Sufjan Stevens, Phosphorescent, Blood Orange, The Autumn Defense and Lonnie Holley, paying homage to Russell's boundless creativity and wide-ranging work, which swerved from electronic dance to folk to classical and resulted in what NPR hails as "catchy and hypnotic records that were far ahead of their time."1. Otherness (Awaiting Repress)It takes chutzpah to name your debut album after the seismic Eddie Kendricks song Girl You Need A Change Of Mind, a seven-minute soul classic with an extended breakdown and build-up that made it one of the earliest disco records. But the lanky Brit Adam Bainbridge had a firm grip on his influences for 2012's World, You Need A Change Of Mind, an album that touched not only on disco, but also on '80s boogie and R&B, Frankie Knuckles-indebted house music, D.C. go-go, and even The Replacements (with a dance remake of Swingin' Party).
Bainbridge doubles down on that '80s sound for Otherness. New feelings we begin again / Old endings we begin anew, he sings in World Restart, which from its compressed drum machine to its honking saxophone sounds like a lost track from 30 years ago. Midway through, he's joined by fast-rising R&B singer Kelela, who sounds like one of the Mary Jane Girls circa 1983's All Night Long. But the feelings behind the song revive those staid sounds and make them sound refreshed.
From there, Kindness pulls from various earmarks of that era, be it the go-go bells that power This Is Not About Us or the elegant piano that flows through I'll Be Back. Rapper M.anifest joins in for 8th Wonder, name-checking Tracy Chapman's Fast Car in his verse. And when Kelela returns in With You, the track at one point peels back to a synthesized breath, a brief homage to Art Of Noise's classic single, Moments In Love.
Much like his musical compatriot (and fellow Brit) DevontÉ Hynes did on Blood Orange's sublime Cupid Deluxe, Bainbridge draws on assists from friends. Beyond the album highlights with Kelela, the sputtering backbeat, rubbery slap-bass line and church organ of Who Do You Love? gets a big lift from Swedish singer Robyn, who infuses the song with her pop effervescence. Hynes himself lends a hand in Why Don't You Love Me, which evolves from a heartbreaking ballad to sensuous R&B to great effect. It hints that Kindness might change and advance yet again.

Heavy metal pioneers ACCEPT are back in the game with a new studio album! The Rise Of Chaos is the band's 4th studio release through Nuclear Blast will continue the tradition of its three predecessors - Blood Of The Nations, Stalingrad, and Blind Rage - with grandeur and precision.

What was there today - can be gone tomorrow and it's somehow irritating, because it happens on so many levels and no one knows what comes next. Twelve years after their 1992 studio record, Force Of Habit, Exodus released Tempo Of The Damned, a worthy comeback with crushing riff attacks, merciless drumming and distinctive vocal outbreaks. Strong and fresh, behold a real thrash hurricane, that continues just as if the band has never left the stage, respectively the studio.
Tom Hunting, Kirk Hammet and Gary Holt founded EXODUS in 1982, shortly after selecting an appropriate singer the band, Paul Baloff, who completed the line up perfectly and bringing the dream to fruition. Within the following year EXODUS gained huge attention in the international underground scene, evolving from an insiders' tip of the tape trading community to a highly popular act. Innovative song writing and explosive live shows made the difference, EXODUS brought Bay Area Thrash to the world and inspired many bands, among them METALLICA, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL and VIOLENCE (respectively MACHINE HEAD).
In 1983 Kirk Hammet left the band to join METALLICA, and was replaced by Rick Hunolt, and soon after Rob McKillop complimented the mix. The debut Bonded By Blood was released two years later and became a timeless thrash classic still appreciated today. A vast tour with SLAYER and VENOM preceded next thus the name EXODUS spread more and more.
Shortly before the second album Pleasures Of The Flesh showed up in 1987, Baloff left the band due to personal and musical differences and got replaced by Steve Zetro Souza (ex-LEGACY). The line-up and chemistry was working for the creativity and the subsequent success of the band. With the studio records like; Fabulous Disaster, Impact Is Imminent and Force Of Habit as well as the live album Good Friendly Violent Fun and the compilation Lessons In Violence EXODUS kept on improving their style and promoted their music with a large number of gigs including tours with PANTERA, ANTHRAX, MOTÖRHEAD, BLACK SABBATH, METALLICA, MEGADETH and many others.
1992 saw the split of EXODUS, affected by stress and personal problems. A short reunion happened 1996 (with their old singer Paul Baloff) with a tour through Europe and North America and the release of the second live record Another Lesson In Violence.
Another break took place until September 2001 when EXODUS attended the Thrash Of The Titans benefit show featuring LEGACY, ANTHRAX, S.O.D. and DEATH ANGEL. Afterwards the band started writing new material but got adjourned abruptly: Paul Baloff suffered a stroke on 2nd February 2002 and passed away. Back with Souza at the microphone EXODUS continued working and finally finished the recording sessions for the new, ultimate comeback album Tempo Of The Damned in 2003. Scorpion ChildBlack Double-LP in Gatefold
Includes Bonus Track and Poster. Side D: Etched!
Hooks: a musical idea or short riff, passage, or phrase that catches the ear of the listener. Some bands have 'em, most don't. Austin-based five-piece SCORPION CHILD have 'em in spades. Whether it's an extended blues jam or a short slice of bombastic heavy rock "The Child" lay a hook so tasty everyone bites. SCORPION CHILD come from lots of different places, not only logistically but musically. Their sound heralds back to early 70's kraut and psych-rock with a modern twist and lists PENTAGRAM, HAIRY CHAPTER and LUCIFER'S FRIEND as influences. They originally formed in 2006 and have spent the last few years perfecting both their songwriting and stage presence. Aryn Jonathan Black fronts the outfit with a siren-like voice reminiscent of a young Robert Plant. Guitarists Christopher Jay Cowart and Tom Frank layer high-energy twin-guitars over the band's driving rhythm section fueled by Shaun Avants (bass) and Shawn Alvear (drums). "Our influences are diversified as classic 80's thrash metal to the old school southern blues of Blind Willie Johnson, Lemon Jefferson and Willie McTell," says Black. "We came to Austin to form a band with a single vision and though we've played in different bands with a range of styles, after jamming together, we found our footing in what we do best." Balancing full-time jobs at coffee shops and bars around town forced the group to be very disciplined. "Austin's a great city to develop and hone your skills musically," admits Black. "Every genre can be found here from blues and jazz to punk and hardcore." In 2010, after years of slogging it out in the Austin scene, SCORPION CHILD gained peer recognition with critical praise from local and regional press while selling out high profile gigs at SXSW. The stage was set for the band's recording debut. After songwriting sessions in Nashville, the band spent last year recording their self-titled album with Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith known for his work with THE ANSWER, JET, AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD, DAX RIGGS, and many others). The result is a hybrid of nine, hook-filled heavy-psych classics that breathe new life into a stale hard rock market. Their music erupts with big drums, thunderous guitar riffs and dangerous soul ridden bass lines. Black's powerful rock vocals convey a sexiness and swagger not heard since the days of FREE and HUMBLE PIE. A surge of electricity bursts from the first notes of "Kings Highway" to the pummeling drive of "The Secret Spot" and the highly addictive open-chord "Liquor". Built for the big stage is "Salvation Slave" which hearkens back to a time when guitar rock ruled the airwaves and made going to a concert the ultimate main event. Building on dynamic tension comes the acid-infused "Antioch", a progressive number with hypnotic beats and subtle shades of light that build into a blinding guitar duet. A galloping pulse distinguishes "In The Arms of Ecstasy" as a celebration of groove that is followed by the raw unchained riffage of "Paradigm". The album concludes with the slow building "Red Blood (The River Flows)" which continues to attract comparisons to LED ZEPPELIN. "We do have this whole acoustic side that sounds very ZEPPELIN III with a lot of gospel", says Black. "ZEPPELIN were very innovative and not afraid to go outside the usual confines of electric blues. I guess that's where the comparison comes from." Recently signed to legendary metal label Nuclear Blast the band has pulled "Polygon of Eyes" as their lead single. A nod to DIO-era RAINBOW, the song is four minutes of power-heavy rock plowing through an ancient storyline of swords and mystics. Says Black, "I've always wanted to hear new musical ingredients within a classic heavy sound. We want to maintain spontaneity while putting special emphasis into integral hooks." As vinyl continues to gain momentum, SCORPION CHILD with Nuclear Blast have plans to release their debut in June 2013 as a glorious gatefold edition with different colored vinyl in each pressing. Building up to the debut release was a large-scale tour with CLUTCH and UK's ORANGE GOBLIN the perfect event to introduce SCORPION CHILD to the masses. Several summer festivals are to follow including Rock The Range and Rocklahoma. The band join an elite few including THE SWORD, GRAVEYARD, WOLFMOTHER and RIVAL SONS who celebrate a warm Marshall and liquid feedback while still pushing boundarie1 Kings Highway

Good Luck (Out of Stock)For the past eight years, Boston's rising stars Girls Guns and Glory have been making a name
for themselves through relentless touring (about 200 gigs a year worldwide), the release of four critically acclaimed records, a slew of local awards, including being the Boston Music Awards first act of its genre to win Act of the Year, and international awards (Independent Artist of the Year at the French Country Music Awards). And, now, the hard-working band is refining their focus to the roots of rock 'n' roll with a twist of country on
their fifth album, "Good Luck," due on February 4, 2014 on Lonesome Day Records.
The foursome (Ward Hayden on vocals/guitar, Paul Dilley on electric and upright bass/piano, Josh Kiggans on
drums/percussion, and Chris Hersch on lead guitar/banjo) found inspiration for this record from early '50s rock
'n' roll icons such as Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, and Buddy Holly, as well as country greats like Hank Williams
and Johnny Cash.
"Good Luck" looks back to that era of music for a more rock 'n' roll-focused record that kicks off with the heartfelt, feel-good rocker "All the Way Up To Heaven," which sets the tone for the album thematically. "It's about finally winning in love and feeling that thrill of getting something good and having a true appreciation of it," says the singer.
Co-written with Jimmy Ryan (Blood Oranges), "All the Way Up To Heaven," is one of the three songs that Hayden did not singularly craft. He notes, "Jimmy Ryan has long been one of my favorite songwriters. He's got a gold tooth, a taste for whiskey and is possibly the best left-handed mandolin player on the planet. Which is part of what makes his songwriting so special. He doesn't try to get fancy or get flashy with technical intricacies. As a
songwriter he exemplifies three chords and the truth. Like Hemingway with a mandolin. He boils a song down to its bare bones, to where you can see and feel the grit. I think that makes him great. He serves the song from its inception."
The other songs were written over the past two years with the exception of two, "Shake Like Jello" and "UUU," which have been in the band's repertoire for about four years. "We never really had a place for those songs because we were viewing ourselves more of a country band than a rock 'n' roll band and those two songs are definitely more rocking. They fit perfectly on this album," he notes.
Another song close to GGG's heart and the band's Northeast roots is the ballad "Centralia, PA." "Chris and Paul are originally from Eastern Pennsylvania and we tour a lot in that area. We found out about this coal-mining town there called Centralia that was destroyed by a coal fire over 50
years ago. It's a ghost town now because it's unfit to live in. I became fascinated by the tragic story of the town and we kind of wanted to put Centralia back on the map with this song," he says.
Produced by Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (Nils Lofgren, Steve Earle, The Bottle Rockets), "Good Luck" was mixed by Ambel and recorded by Mario Viele at Cowboy Technical Services Recording Rig in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and will be available on CD, vinyl and iTunes on February 4, 2014 via Lonesome Day Records. The band is up for Americana Artist of the Year the 2013 Boston Music Awards and Ward Hayden is up for Male Vocalist of the Year. And, Girls Guns and

Wild Moon (Out Of Stock)Plowboy Records' latest signing, J.D. Wilkes and The Dirt Daubers, release 'Wild Moon', their third album. Produced by Cheetah Chrome, 'Wild Moon' finds The Dirt Daubers - previously an old-timey, acoustic group - plugged in and wailing away on raw, blissfully distorted rock-n-roll and blues. The
Dirt Daubers were formed by Legendary Shack Shakers front man, artist, director and country punk pioneer J.D. Wilkes in 2009 with his wife Jessica. Wilkes' "gothic preacher" persona and frantic blues harmonica whips 'Wild Moon' into a frenzy, trading lead vocal duties with his feminine foil.
J.D. and Jessica are joined by electric guitarist Rod Hamdallah and drummer Preston Corn. Smoky baritone sax grooves are provided by Tom Waits' sideman Ralph Carney, with piano played by Wilkes himself - delving deeper into the bluesy
recesses of American music. Jessica emotes pained lyrics about life, love and loss on tunes like "No More My Love" and "Apples and Oranges," while J.D. continues his southern storytelling style on "Angel Crown" and the title track.
Wilkes is also an accomplished harmonica player, having recorded for such artists as Merle Haggard, John Carter Cash, Mike Patton, and Hank Williams III. He can also be spotted playing harmonica for Hank Williams III in the 2004 American Masters film Hank Williams: Honky Tonk Blues. His song `Swampblood` can be heard on the Grammy-nominated
soundtrack for HBO's True Blood series. Shore Fire Media on board to spearhead publicity and marketing efforts.
