    Pollinator

You catch yourself when you ask Debbie Harry and Chris Stein,
one of the most captivating creative pairings in music ever, about the
creeping gentrification of New York City. You catch yourself because
Blondie was formed during a 1970s era of urban decay - a time when
the travails of being in a band, seeking an artistic outlet, or instigating a
scene as a means of existence was a survival of the fittest among streets
of heightened crime and social unrest. Certainly, those 1970s New
York streets have been glamourised in the onslaught of retrospective
looks at the punk, new wave, disco and hip-hop scenes that found their
fundamental roots in that era. But it certainly wasn't an easier time to
live there. The challenges and intensity of the city were just different.

Blondie emerged the fittest. They've outlived the groundbreaking moment
that birthed them and have adapted to time, space and industry
evolution as much as the face of New York itself. Walk into any dance
club tonight and hear a 'Call Me' or a 'Heart Of Glass'. Talk to
any hip-hop historian and recall that Debbie was an original Beastie
Boy who took rap music to the masses when it was still a block party
concern. Read any tome on the history of punk and they're interwoven
into the fabric of the one genre that still inspires most and every
band to pick a name and find a practice space. Their active presence
in our lives 40 million albums sales and countless accolades later
(including a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2006 and
NME Godlike Genius Award in 2014) isn't something anyone wants
    to take advantage of.

That's what their 11th album 'Pollinator' sets out to establish. In true
pop art fashion it's as post-modern as a concept gets and the perfect
way to move on from 2014's 40th anniversary celebrations and the
subsequent release of 'Ghosts Of Download'. In 'Pollinator' exists a
giant feedback loop - one in which Blondie created, then generations
were inspired, then those generation created and inspired, and are
now teaming up with Blondie. When the time came for Chris, Debbie
and drummer Clem Burke to "get the band back together" and make
an album, choice pioneers from the decades since Blondie's birth
were called upon to contribute songs for the record, thereby weaving
their own way into the living, breathing story of the band, a group that
directly affected their own genetic makeup. The list is enviable and
reflects the dynamism of Blondie's very own cross-pollinating past:
Johnny Marr, Sia, Dev Hynes, Charli XCX, Dave Sitek (TV On
The Radio), Nick Valensi (The Strokes) and The Gregory Brothers
all lent their creations for Blondie to interpret, each building upon the
aspect of their heroes that's bolstered their own sound.

    WATCH OUT! PUNK IS COMING!

By the end of 1973, New York City was bankrupt, Watergate had compromised the credibility of the U.S. government, and the Carpenters were the bestselling
young recording act in America. Rock 'n' roll was dead!

Enter Hilly Kristal, who dreamed of running a country & blues bar in the Bowery. Instead, the club he opened, CBGB (Country, Bluegrass, Blues) became
the birthplace of punk and underground music. CBGB was the modern-day salon for the disenfranchised youth of New York City and Kristal gave these
young local bands a stage. Artists such as the Talking Heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Ramones, Dead Boys and Television all started at this iconic club.

The story of Hilly Kristal and his legendary club will be coming to theaters this October when CBGB hits the big screen. The film has an all-star ensemble cast headed by Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter series, Die Hard) who plays Kristal. Co-starring with Rickman will be Malin Akerman (The Proposal,Suburgatory), Ryan Hurst (Sons Of Anarchy), Ashley Greene (The Twilight series), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Stana Katic (Castle) and
Rupert Grint (the Harry Potter series).

Omnivore Recordings is proud to present CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on CD and naturally, double-LP (with first pressing on translucent
pink vinyl). An essential collection of songs that made the punk movement, CBGB presents twenty slices of original American music, many rarely
compiled or unavailable for years. The soundtrack contains music from influential artists that informed the scene (The Velvet Underground, The Stooges
and MC5), to acts that broke through with huge commercial acclaim (Talking Heads, Blondie and The Police). And there's even music from bands whose
legendary status will forever be linked to the club that gave them a voice (Dead Boys, Television. Wayne County, The Dictators and more).

    Reach Out

This outing finds them exploring a darker side of pop music; the place where Deep Purple's brute force meets The Carpenters' tragic wistfulness, where Blondie's power hooks cross melodic swords with Meat Loaf's drama-rock theatrics. They've expanded their palette considerably, yet the sound is unmistakably theirs.

The soundtrack to the 1983 motion picture starring Al Pacino featured a variety of pop artists like Blondie's Deborah Harry, Elizabeth Daily, Mrs. Michael McDonald Amy Holland (who at the time had made a solo name for herself) and incidental themes by Italian electronic maestro Giorgio Moroder.

In later years, the songs here were used in the video game Grand Theft Auto 3, which brought them to an entirely new audience a generation later.

    Plastic Letters

Plastic Letters was the second and final Blondie album to be produced by Richard Gottehrer. Denis, a cover of the Randy & the Rainbows' 1963 hit Denise, was a hit all over Europe, reaching #2 in March 1978 in the United Kingdom, and was also a hit in Australia, reaching #19. (I'm Always Touched by Your) Presence, Dear was the second single from the album, reaching #10 in the UK in May 1978. The song was written by the band's original bass guitar player Gary Valentine, shortly before he left for a solo career prior to the album being recorded (which necessitated Chris Stein playing bass as well as guitar). In fact, during recording, Blondie were still at their old label, Private Stock Records. The album peaked at #10 in the UK and has been certified Platinum by the BPI.

    Chain Gang Of Love

    Import

    Remastered

'Chain Gang Of Love', originally released in August 2003, is The Raveonettes' first full length album after they debuted with the critically acclaimed 'Whip It On' mini album in 2002.

Their sound has often been compared with that of the noisy and distorted Jesus And Mary Chain, while the Velvet Underground and even the vocal harmonies of the Everly Brothers are never far away either. The most noticeable difference in sound between the debut EP, which had all songs in B-flat minor, and this album is that here all songs are in B-flat major. The result is an album drenched in an uplifting fifties and sixties sound.

Because of this wall of sound you might expect a Phil Spector production, but Sune Rose Wagner himself (one half of the Danish duo which is The Raveonettes) and Richard Gottehrer (producer for a.o. Blondie and The Go-Go's, and founder of Sire Records) were responsible for this remarkable and uplifting release.

    Zombie Birdhouse

Twelve albums into the fray, Iggy Pop has found sanctuary on Animal Records, a Chrysalis subsidiary whose roster is overseen by Chris Stein of Blondie. Now that Iggy's free of major-label expectations (not that he ever capitulated), one might have anticipated something on the order of Metallic K.O. Revisited. Surprisingly, Zombie Birdhouse is a brainy, well-plotted collection with more depth than could have been expected from the author of I Wanna Be Your Dog.

This album may just be Iggy's Morrison Hotel; like that Doors classic, Zombie Birdhouse takes an almost novelistic look at the character of America that is by turns funny and angry, reverential and irreverent. It's filled, too, with an almost mystical primitivism that brings out the shaman in Iggy's soul. The Doors analogy is unavoidable in this sense, of course, but all this imitation is sincerely flattering, and it's been awhile since we've had a convincing shaman on the scene. Besides, the rich lyrical imagery and musical daring of Zombie Birdhouse, particularly on the first side, are enough to make it a minor classic in its own right. Take Life of Work, in which Iggy Pop has refashioned an old sea shanty into a sad riddle for the working class: What do you do with a life of work?/Face it in the morning. The Ballad of Cookie McBride is just amazing; it sounds like a Bob Dylan lament sung by Leon Russell with a twist of Lizard King metaphysics (Hi-hi-ho, it's a watery day/On my way to an unmarked grave). Throughout, Iggy's collaborator, guitarist-keyboardist Rob duPrey, manages to produce some fascinating noise by altering, filtering and treating his instruments. Chris Stein and Clem Burke of Blondie provide the exotic rhythmic spice that seasons this record to perfection.

While never dropping their trademark sexy, horror-flick flair, their new CD, produced by Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz, reveals new depths of songwriting. Brash, Link Wray guitars, singer Patricia's sultry petulance, throbbing standup bass; all served up in loving tribute to the brooding pop of '80s icons like Blondie and Siouxsie Sioux. With two European headlining tours, performances on BBC1 and Jimmy Kimmel, and a major Warped Tour under their belts, HorrorPops are set to build on the musical success of their 2004 debut, Hell Yeah. PHASES is a tight-knit and talented group of four friends, Z Berg, Alex Greenwald, Jason Boesel, and Michael Runion. True to their creativity and sense of humor, their record For Life is fun, but it also showcases their top-notch musicianship and dedication to next-level production. It fills a void in contemporary music of skilled musicians who don't take themselves too seriously-no surprise that they were inspired by bands of the early-80s, like Bananarama, Human League, and Tom Tom Club. But, while their album was created with the goal of making Blondie meets Thriller, PHASES lives decidedly in 2015.

88 92, the new album from Houston-based quintet Wild
Moccasins, blends the co-ed fronted band's indie rock
styling with a modern take on new wave and disco.
Bringing to mind bands like Blondie and Talking Heads,
88 92 finds the troupe growing within their sound and
polishing their chops with a furious backbeat. "We build
a skeleton then give it the blood to make it come alive,"
says Cody Swann, the band's guitarist, singer and
songwriter, about creating music that pulsates with
finely constructed beats, that interweave and interact
with each other to propel the rapturous, sparkthrowing
sound of 88 92. The mission of Wild Moccasins is

    The Paragons

Featuring John Holt, Garth Tyrone Evans and Howard Barrett, the Paragons became one of Jamaica's most popular acts during Rock Steady era of the
    late sixties, during which time
they recorded such notable hits as 'Wear You To The Ball', 'Happy Go Lucky Girl', 'On The Beach', 'Only A Smile' and their most celebrated song, 'The
Tide Is High'. By the early seventies, the group had disbanded, but Blondie's hit version of the latter led to their reunion in 1981, resulting in the trio
recording updated versions of all their classic sixties sides for US-based DJ-come-producer, Lister Hewan-Lowe. Unavailable in any format since 1981,
the sought-after LP is now at long-last obtainable to fans of the group and the classic Lovers style.

    Driving Towards The Daylight

Recorded at Studio At The Palms in Las Vegas, NV, The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, CA and The Cave in Malibu, CA, Driving Towards The Daylight is a balanced back-to-basics album that highlights Bonamassa s signature style of roots blues with rock-and-roll guts, while honoring the traditions of the original blues musicians. To challenge Joe and move him out of his comfort zone, a unique group of musicians was gathered including Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford (guitar), Blondie Chaplan (guitar), Anton Fig (drums and percussion), Arlan Schierbaum (keyboard), Michael Rhodes (bass), Carmine Rojas (bass), Jeff Bova and The Bovaland Brass, Pat Thrall (guitar), and Brad s son Harrison Whitford (guitar).

The album features five Bonamassa-penned originals including the bruising opener Dislocated Boy, the road warrior title track (and first single) Driving Towards The Daylight, I Got All You Need, Heavenly Soul, and Somewhere Trouble Don t Go. Other tracks include Bonamassa's versions of Tom Waits New Coat Of Paint, Lonely Town Lonely Street, by Bill Withers (Lean On Me, Ain't No Sunshine) and A Place In My Heart by Bernie Marsden of White Snake (Here I Go Again). Live It Out (Awaiting Repress)

Live It Out is the second album released by the Canadian indie rock band Metric. It was originally released in September 27, 2005 on Last Gang Records.

Toronto's Metric has the ability to appeal to fans on a number of levels: the group captures the likeability of Elastica with the cheekiness of Blondie and then mixes that new wave style with just enough of a growling guitar to give it some oomph. Since their last release, the acclaimed Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, Metric's sound has morphed slightly; this follow-up is a little more guitar-based and slightly less electronic than their last, a move likely to broaden their fan base even further.

Metric's rock-meets-new-wave is not only timely, it is joyful to boot. The driving track Handshakes could easily qualify for the next ipod commercial, while Monster Hospital's retro punk style has a Clash-inspired chorus that will stay in your head for days. By the same token, the band's musical diversity is especially evident in the beautiful The Police and the Private, where one could easily imagine that they are listening to an up-tempo Sarah Harmer track. Metric's cross-genre appeal is at least party due to frontwoman Emily Haines' delivery. A smart writer and performer, Haines' contributions to the Broken Social Scene collective have already made her voice somewhat familiar, and in her own element she shines especially bright. From her delicate whispers (the Pink Floyd-esque Ending Start) to her Eurotrash-inspired yelps (Live It Out) Haines has the it factor that makes indie rock critics swoon, and keeps fans dedicated. --Denise Sheppard

    The Far Field

"This is the kind of band that makes you wish other bands tried
    harder." - Pitchfork

"An absolute and unqualified triumph" - Stereogum

    "Mournful, triumphant, heroic" - Complex

The Far Field refines and builds on the breakthroughs of the
Baltimore-based trio's 2014 album Singles, bursting with undeniable
hooks and disarmingly honest lyrics written by Samuel
    T. Herring (vocals, lyrics), William Cashion (bass, guitars) and
    Gerrit Whelmers (keyboards, programming).

After the success of Singles and the hundreds of Future Islands
shows played in that period, the band began writing new material
on the coast of North Carolina, and continued throughout
the year in Baltimore before road-testing these songs at a series
of secret shows under fake names. Later that year, they traveled
to Los Angeles to record with Grammy Award-winning producer
John Congleton at the legendary Sunset Sound, where everyone
from The Beach Boys to Prince have laid down masterpieces.
With string and horn arrangements by Patrick McMinn,
The Far Field is the first Future Islands record to feature live
drums by Michael Lowry, who joined the band prior to their sensational
performance of "Seasons (Waiting On You)" on
David Letterman's late night TV show. Blondie's Debbie Harry
also makes a guest appearance, in a duet with Herring on penultimate
    track "Shadows."

Across The Far Field's twelve chest-pounding love songs and
odes to the road, Future Islands brilliantly expresses the band's
central themes they've been exploring for the last decade: that
there is power in emotional vulnerability, that one can find a way
to laugh and cry in the same breath - and be stronger for it.

    Driving Towards The Daylight

On May 21, 2012, internationally renowned guitar superstar Joe Bonamassa will release a brand new solo album 'Driving Towards The Daylight' on Provogue Records. 'Driving Towards The Daylight' was produced by Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley (Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin). This is their seventh collaboration in six years and Joe's 13th album.

Recorded at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles, CA and Studio At The Palms in Las Vegas, NV, 'Driving Towards The Daylight' is a balanced back-to-basics album that highlights Bonamassa's signature style of roots blues with rock-and-roll guts, while honouring the traditions of the original blues musicians.

"We've taken some really traditional old blues songs - the Howlin' Wolf song 'Who's Been Talkin' and the Robert Johnson song 'Stones In My Passway,' and we've tried to imagine how they would do them in a rock context," said Shirley. "It's a very exciting return to the blues in a very visceral way. It's vibrant and it's gutsy and it's really, really rugged."

The album features five Bonamassa-penned originals including the bruising opener 'Dislocated Boy', the road warrior title track (and first single) 'Driving Towards The Daylight', 'I Got All You Need', 'Heavenly Soul' and 'Somewhere Trouble Don't Go'. Other tracks include Bonamassa's versions of Tom Waits' 'New Coat Of Paint', Bill Withers' 'Lonely Town Lonely Street', and 'A Place In My Heart' by Bernie Marsden. On the album closer, Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes sings lead vocals on his 1987 hit 'Too Much Ain't Enough Love'.

Brad Whitford, speaking from the studio in Vegas, said, "This is definitely more influenced by the stuff that the guys and musicians in this room love, early '60s English and American rock and blues. I guess we'll never get that out of our system and its fun to come in here and find our own path down that highway."

Bonamassa's last studio album 'Dust Bowl 'released in March 2011 charted at no.12 in the UK

    Seesaw

Seesaw reunites force-of-nature blues-rock vocalist Beth Hart and guitar hero Joe Bonamassa for a second album of choice covers from various musical eras. As with their first outing, Don't Explain, the project is in collaboration with producer Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Crowes). Each of the three principals suggested and selected tracks for the 11-song set list, which mines soulful classics previously made famous by Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Donnie Hathaway, Lucinda Williams, Buddy Miles, Tina Turner, Slackwax, Melody Gardot, and Nina Simone.

The one-two punch of Hart's powerhouse vocals and Bonamassa's scorching solos both honors and reinvents the original recordings. They are backed by the same world class band that kept the grooves going on Don't Explain: Anton Fig (drums, percussion), Carmine Rojas (bass), Blondie Chaplin (rhythm guitar, backing vocals and percussion), Arlan Schierbaum (organ, piano). This time out, their mighty sound is augmented by a horn section, with Lee Thornburg on trumpets and trombones, and Ron Dziubla on saxophones.

For Hart and Bonamassa, making music together grew out of the friendship and mutual artistic appreciation they developed after crossing paths on the road numerous times, particularly on the festival circuit in Europe. Bonamassa wanted to do a project with her, and came up with the idea for a soul covers record. Shirley, who's produced 12 of Bonamassa's albums, was enthusiastic, and Bonamassa contacted Hart. "When I got the call that he wanted to do a soul record with me, I figured I'd be the background singer. He said 'no, you're singing lead.'" The chemistry clicked, and Don't Explain was released in 2011, followed now by 2013's Seesaw-in between, both Hart and Bonamassa have toured, recorded solo albums, and reached new career highs.

"What's so cool about these projects is that when Joe and Beth enter the studio, he comes in as a guitar player, and she comes in as a singer," says Shirley. "They're getting together just to play fun music, sing some favorite songs, without the pressure of career issues they might have on solo projects. The point is to pick up and celebrate songs that didn't get their due in the day, and to pay homage to ones that were truly classics. The vibe this time is more upbeat than on Don't Explain, lots of big band horns."
